  • Tried and True at Hoedown

At 0529, 8 men stood in the parking lot at Tuckahoe Elementary School wondering what YHC had in store. As Handshake came screeching into the parking lot at 0530, we did a short loop around the parking lot to give Handshake time to get out of his car. With Handshake in tow, we headed to Third Church’s Parking Lot A for warm up.

    Warm Up included the following:

    • SSH
    • DQ
    • Helicopter
    • Merkin
    • Scorpion Kick
    • Suzanne Summers

Mosey behind the church to Parking Lot B for a triple check.

    • Partner 1 – Run to the end of the parking lot and bernie sanders back
    • Partner 2 – BTTW
    • Partner 3 – flutter kicks

Mosey to Parking Lot C for 4 corners.

    • 10 HRMs
    • 20 WWIIs
    • 30 Flutter Kicks
    • 40 Squats

Stay in place and retrieve coupons for triple check #2.

    • Partner 1 – Run around parking lot
    • Partner 2 – alternating merkins on block
    • Partner 3 – squats

Mosey down Silverspring doing exercises for the different vehicles encountered. Crossovers are counted as cars. And, Honeydo asked whether a Honda Ridgeline counts as a truck. The pax debated but did their burpees.

    • SUVs – 5 merkins
    • Cars – 5 squats
    • Trucks – 2 burpees

Return to the flag for a few minutes of Mary.

  • It is awfully quiet down here when …

There is no train, or Handshake. The question is, which is more noisy. This question was discussed by the 8 hearty souls who showed up for First Watch this morning.

We started with a traveling COP as we started from the flag and headed down South Ridge to Westham Station which included SSH, DQ, Arm Circles, Dead Man Hang, Fudd’s Wife, Wilson’s Wife.

At the bottom of South Ridge, partner up for a Dora. 50 Merkins, 100 WWIIs, 150 Freddie Mercuries. Runner goes to the 3rd No Parking sign on the right (not the 1st, not the 2nd, but the 3rd).

Find a different partner to head back up South Ridge. Partner 1 does 20 squats while Partner 2 starts up the hill and then runs to catch up when done with squats to trade places. Partner going up the hill does bear crawl, crab walks and then freddie mercury.

Stop at the intersection with overlook and line up for a native american style run back to the parking lot. Once back at the lot, we split into 2 groups for a quad check. Timer ran to the median in the middle of the parking lot. Exercises for those not running were merkins, LBCs and monkey humpers.

With a few minutes left, we returned to the start and circled up for a few minutes of mary.

    Announcements / Prayers

    1. EF Hutton leading a group to the Bridge on Nov 15. See Slack for details.
    2. Prayers EF Hutton and his family as they say goodbye to his aunt.

YHC picked up the Q late last night after a long week of work knowing he needed to get out and run. Short on a time to plan a route, a run down Monument was in order.

    We all made it back.

  • Is this a St. Chris field?

A lucky 13 convened for this week’s edition of Hoedown. One would think that last night’s storm would have brought some cooler temps, but alas temperatures hovered around 70 with plenty of humidity.

At 0530, off we went for a short run around the horseshoe and then up to the blacktop for warmup that included:

    • SSH
    • DQ
    • Dead man hang
    • Cherry Pickers
    • Arm Circles
    • Merkins
    • WW2s
    • Flutter kicks

Continuing the warm up trend, we lined up at the end of the blacktop closest to the school for some wind sprints. Run out, touch a line, come back and run a little further. We ran to the end of the music room, then the first basketball hoop, second basketball hoop, and finally the fence at the far end.

With the blood flowing, we moseyed to the upper field, which had sod and an irrigation system added over the summer. The pax was quite impressed with the new field, with one even commenting that it was reminiscent of a St. Christopher’s field.

First up, eye of the storm. 5 merkins in the middle and then run out to each corner for 20 of each of 4 exercises, returning to the middle for merkins. Corner 1 – SSHs. Corner 2 – Mountain Climbers. Corner 3 – Jump Squats. Corner 4 – Carolina Dry Docks.

Next up, a triple check along the back wall of the school. Partner 1 – run across field and do 5 pull ups. Partner 2 – BTTW. Partner 3 – dips.

Mosey back towards the drop horseshoe with a stop along the way for jerkins. The pax partnered up and did 2 rounds of 10 each.

At the horseshoe, another triple check. Partner 1 – run the loop. Partner 2 – donkey kicks along the wall. Partner 3 – shoulder taps.

Then, a short mosey to the small parking lot for 11s. Squats (10) and incline merkins (1). Run across and bernie back.

With just about 2 minutes left, we cooled down with a loop around the horseshoe.

    Numberama / Namerama

Prayers for TES Principal Mrs. Ford fighting breast cancer, Rosie’s Mom starting radiation today, and all the families sending children back to school.

    • SSH
    • DQ
    • Cherry Pickers
    • Merkins
    • Scorpion Kicks
    • Flutter Kicks
    • WWIIs

Our late arriving FNG found us during warm up before we headed to the front of the school for 11s – Derkins and WWIIs.

We then moseyed to the far Third Church parking lot and retrieved some blocks for a Triple check. P1 – run the loop. P2 – flutter kicks. P3 – block exercises (R1 – overhead presses. R2 – curls. R3 – swings). Replace the blocks.

    Stayed in the same lot for 4 corners. Corner 1 – 10 HRM. Corner 2 – 20 Rosalitas. Corner 3 – 30 American Hammers (2 count). Corner 4 – 40 SSH.

Lined up for the run back to the flag. We finished up with some mary.

  • Quiet Morning in Tuckahoe

As YHC stood in the parking lot enjoying the quiet morning, I wondered whether this would be a solo workout. Fortunately, with a couple minutes to spare, Garbage Plate and Vandelay arrived. At 0530, we launched.

Moseyed across Forest to the Third Church Parking Lot A for warmup that included dead man hang, side straddle hops, merkins, and WWIIs.

Mosey behind the church along the playground to the back parking lot for a triple check. P1 – BTTW. P2 – Squats. P3 – run to the end of the parking lot and Bernie back.

Mosey to the tree covered lot across Silverspring for 4 corners. The PAX was pleasantly surprised to find a good size stack of fresh coupons hidden in the trees. Once each retrieved a coupon, we started the first 4 corners. Corner 1 – curls. Bear crawl to Corner 2 – WWIIs. Run to Corner 3 – shoulder taps. Crab walk to Corner 4 – jump squats. Bernie back to start. Picked up our coupons for second 4 corners, coupons traveling along this time. Corner 1 – overhead presses. Corner 2 – WWIIs with coupons. Corner 3 – alternating merkins with one hand on the block. Corner 4 – block swings. Back to start and return coupons.

Mosey back to TES and around back to the main parking lot for 11s. Merkins, starting at 10, run across and Bernie up hill for WWIIs.

With a few minutes left, we wrapped up with some mary – american hammers, flutter kicks, heels to heaven.

Numbers, Names and YHC took us out.

Thank you to Garbage Plate and Vandelay for showing up this morning – great start to the week.
