    Eleven men apparated out of the gloom looking for ready to get down to business. According to the AI agent taking notes and action items this is what transpired.

    Hop, skip, and jump over to the field for Eye of the Hurricane. Perform exercises at each corner coming to the center for 5 HR Merkins between each corner. Corners: 1 – 5 Burpees, 2 – 10 Merkins, 3 – 15 Squats, 4 – 20 LBCs. Three rounds were completed before embarking for the Rusty Cage

    At the cage, Triple Check: Knee raises while hanging, Jerkins, timer runs to the hydrant

    Dispatch to Death Valley for Critter Crawls – climb the hill in the way of an animal and perform 10 Merkins and 10 WWIIs at the top, return to the bottom. Four rounds: 1 – Bear crawl, 2 – Crab walk, 3 – Duck walk, 4 – Cheetah (nod to Attila)

    Return to the flag for Mary to complete the allotted time.

    Ten men emerged from the gloom ready to kill some time before Libbie Market opened. According to the squirrel gathering acorns, this is how they passed the time.

    Mosey to the amphitheater for COP: SSH, Helicopters, DQ, Ukrainian Soldiers, Copperhead Squats, Merkins, LBCs, APDs

    In the amphitheater, Stairway to Seven: 7 exercises (Burpees, Squats, Merkins, Lunges, LBCs, Mountain Climbers, Jump Squats). Perform increasing sets of each exercise starting at 1 working up to 7 reps. Perform the first six exercises at the bottom then run to the top and do the appropriate number of jump squats, then return to bottom and repeat up to 7. It was a challenge to remember the 6 exercises at the bottom. It helped if you used the catchy mnemonic BSMLLM…

    Slide over to the Carillon for Four Corners: Corner 1 – 10 Merkins, Corner 2: 15 Jump Squats, Corner 3: 20 LBCs, Corner 4: 25 Monkey Humpers. Four laps: Lap 1 – Run between, Lap 2 – Bear crawl, Lap 3 – Lunge, Lap 4: Run faster

    Take a circuitous route back to the flag for Mary and some stretching lead by Helix.

  • Anyone seen the bridge?

    Ten men emerged from the early morning mist ready to push themselves and each other to be better than they were the day before. According to the curious woodland creatures hiding just out of sight in the tree line, this is what unfolded.

    Per request the AO was kept to the asphalt . Start off with a warmup lap counting each of the corners returning to the top of the hill for COP.

    To start of the morning YHC had strategically placed cones at 25/50/75 % of the asphalt for perennial favorite – The Beast: 6 rounds of 6 exercises performed 6 times at each cone down the “field” and again on the return trip to the top of the hill. The exercises: Merkins, Jump Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, LBCs, Arm Circles.

    After slaying the Beast it was time to revisit the corners which had been counted earlier, first corner 10 merkins and plank for the six, mosey to the second corner for twenty LBCs and hug a tree for the six, shuffle over to corner three for thirty jump squats and hug another tree and on to the fourth corner for 40 SSHs.

    From there it was time to touch some trees ( or objects of similar shape) – partner up and do three rounds of tree touching, 5 different each time – Exercises: LBCs, monkey humpers, burpees.

    Finish up with Mary, stretches and savasana – listening to and taking in the beauty of the world around us for a short time.

    Numbers and names. OBT took time to share his story with the group and reinforce for all the residents of The Bridge that once they get a name they are part of F3 and always will be. OBT took us out.

    NMS: It was great to see some familiar faces from our trip to The Bridge in August and welcome FNG Green Thumb who seems to have worked everywhere in and around Charlottesville, including a stint taking care of a greenhouse for the booking manager for Dave Matthews Band (not sure the exact connection to DMB but there was definitely a green house involved). Welcome Green Thumb!

    Nine men showed up to take a trip with Roger Roger but clearance was not granted, Clarence – the ghost flag was already flying with YHC at the controls. According to the ground crew who couldn’t figure out where to load the luggage, this is what transpired.

    Wander to the back of the bus lane for partner Dora 1-2-3: 100 Merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 SSH

    Back into the bus lane and enjoy one burpee at each lit light pole around the circle then mosey back to the flag for Mary and stretching.

  • Not quite a deluge

    Six men converged at the Carillon ready to battle the elements and suffer through an hour in the pouring rain that did not materialize. According to the ducks in the boat lake, this is what happened while it was not raining.

    Mosey to the former location of the police officer memorial

    Migrate around the reservoir to Boat Lake for The Dirty McDeuce: Four rounds of three exercises, 12 reps each, followed by a quarter mile lap around the triangle. The exercises: Round 1 – Merkins, Squats, WWII’s / Round 2 – Carolina Dry Docks, Lunges, Flutter Kicks / Round 3 – Wide Merkins, Monkey Humpers, LBCs / Round 4 – HR Merkins, Jump Squats, American Hammers

    Return to the officer memorial for a Mary/stretching interlude: Freddie Mercury’s IC, Inverted Scorpion stretch, Figure 4

    Recover and continue back to the amphitheater circle for 11’s traversing half the circle between exercises: Merkins and American Hammers

    Return to the flag for a minute in the plank position to finish out the time.

    Breaking Bread continues – Thanks to Vandelay and Gumbo for staffing the kitchen this weekend and to Oyster for making sure it happens.

    The Bridge – Upchuck wants everybody in F3RVA to consider coming to The Bridge and new people to take on the task of leading – the catch is you need to have attended at least one workout as a PAX member to understand the protocols. The gist – carpool from a central location in the Richmond area to Buckingham, VA, which is out near Charlottesville, for a 7:30 workout with the residents of The Bridge Ministry on a Saturday morning. Share in coffeeteria with the residents and some PAX from the Charlottesville area, and head back to Richmond, typically by way of the Cumberland Diner. Expect to arrive back in town about 10:30 – 11:00am.

    Reach out to Upchuck if you want to go or lead and start coordinating a trip. YHC is looking to lead a contingent to the Bridge towards the end of October and will be looking for a few good men to join.

  • Not quite triple check numbers

    Eight men emerged from the gloom and followed YHC off to the Carillon, which is still unobstructed by construction materials and fences oh so many months later, looking for a place to circle up and tell stories. This is what they found:

    COP: SSH, Helicopters, DQ’s, IW’s, Copperhead Squat, DMH, Merkins, LBC’s, APD’s, all IC

    Stroll from the Carillon to the opposite end of the field and do five merkins at every light pole down to Condie, plank for the six, cross the street, and perform a burpee at each light pole on the opposite side back to the field.

    Meander over to the triangle for a couple trips along the vertices: 1 – bear crawl, 10 jump squats, 20 american hammers, 10 merkins; 2 – lunge, 10 dry docks, 20 WWII’s, 5 burpees

    Hustle over to the amphitheater and partner up for Dora: 100 HRM, 200 american hammers, 300 SSH

    Jog back to the flag for Mary and stretching

  • No spuds today!

    Eleven young bucks emerged from the gloom this Saturday morning, most expecting a starchy start to the weekend but no, at the last minute the Q was taken and green, cruciferous vegetables were the dish of the day. According to the deer tending to the community garden, this is what went down.

    COP: Helicopters, DQ’s, IW’s, Copperhead Squats, Ukrainian Soldiers, Dead Man Hang, the Merkin, LBC, all IC

    Mosey to the amphitheater and perform one burpee on each step going down then we head to the Ha’ Penny Stage.

    Partner up for three rounds of Touch-A-Tree – exercises were LBC, plank, burpees.

    Slouch down the path past the rusty cage to the pipeline, find a partner and perform three rounds – exercises American Hammers and squats

    Return back up the hill to the Rusty Cage for a triple check – exercises pull-ups and squats, timer checks on the fire hydrant.

    Jog back to the bottom of the amphitheater and perform three merkins on each step to the top.

    Coagulate on the turnabout outside the amphitheater for some Mary and stretching then back to the flag.

    Numbers and names. Announcements: Upchuck and Bootleg are making a trip to The Bridge on Saturday 8/16 for anybody interested in an alternative to the Homegrown Half activities occurring SoJ the same day.

    Handshake asked us to keep Charlotte and her family in our prayers as they go through one of the most painful experiences life can bring.

    Eleven men emerged from the gloom at the Carillon in search of truth and some pointy boots, and maybe a few snack crackers. According to the camels walking around the grounds of Maymont, this is what they found.

    COP: SSH, Helicopters, DQ’s, DMH, IW, CHS, Merkin, LBC, APD, stretching, all IC

    Mosey to the end of the field – 3 merkins at each light post from Garrett down to Condie, 2 burpees at each lightpost returning to the Garret at the end of the field.

    Slide down to the middle of the field for 11’s across the field – American Hammers and LBC’s

    Take the show to the amphitheater – do 5 dips on each step to the bottom

    Meander to the Ha’ Penny stage for Touch a Tree – Pair up – Exercises hand release merkins, monkey humpers, wwII’s

    Wander over to the rusty cage, stopping on the way to relocate the widowmaker out of the fairway – OYO – do 3 (or more) pull-ups then run to a nearby tree and back, repeat 5 times

    Traverse the fairway back to the amphitheater – do 5 incline merkins on each step to the top

    Back to the flag for Mary – Freddie Mercury, APD in cadence, short savasana

    Ten men emerged from the gloom at the Carillon with hopes of answering the age old question – are you the spoon-er or spoon-ee? While each man contemplated his position in the world, this is how the time was passed.

    Mosey to the amphitheater, 10 dips on each step from top to bottom. Return to the top doing 5 incline merkins on each step, back to the bottom with 5 box cutters on each step.

    Wriggle over to the ha’penny stage – partner up for touch a tree – 5 different trees each round – exercises: HR merkins, american hammers, LBCs.

    Relocate to the triangle for three trips around with exercises at each corner: First – bear crawl/10 jump squats, run/20 american hammers, bernie or run/10 hr merkins. Second – lunge/10 monkey humpers, run/heels to heaven, bernie or run/10 merkins. Third – lieutenant dans/3 burpees, run/WWIIs, bernie or run/merkins

    Move to the star in front of the carillon for some stretching…
