  • We live for this stuff!

    Two of us braved the wet trails this morning to sink or swim. We knocked out 3.5 miles with weight on our backs. Why make life easy? Spent the time solving all of life’s mysteries parenting, self-discipline, hiking strategies, and of course how women are obviously the superior species. Shoutout to Friday for showing up! Turns out we both enjoy suffering in nature.

    Always good to get some fresh blood out there. He’s already looking like a regular and at this rate he’ll be leading workouts before we know it. Killer session this morning, made even better by a sunrise straight out of a postcard. Pretty sure we had an audience too, we all felt the eyes of every woman in the neighborhood peeking through their windows like, Who are these savages!!???

    3 HIMs came out to the true gloom this morning to make a name for themselves. We kept it simple with our Murph training. This is how it went down…..

    10 Burpees, 10 Squats, 10 Merkins with a lap around parking lot. Repeat rounds by decreasing one rep at a time until you’re done!

    10 rounds of 3,6,9s with a run after the 5th round and finished with a run.

    Bonus points for hangs from the bars. We all made it over a minute and some change. We are getting there!!

    Numbers and Names! Got to meet Friday this morning. A retired drill sergeant who now works at William & Mary. He’s the real deal and makes it all look easy. He’s also about the same height as Beaver and me, so I liked him right away.

    Feeling grateful this morning for the men that have come into my life lately. I’ve been feeling off and in the past, I would’ve just slipped back into old habits drinking and eating to cope. But now I’ve got accountability and discipline. These workouts keep me showing up and getting pushed and I’m better for it.

    There will be a day that you cannot do this. Today is not that day!

  • (New Kent) Day 1!

    3 HIMS got together this morning for the first training session for the Murph. This is how it went down…..

    We kicked things off with some chatter and a 10 minute OYO stretch. Started with 50 yard 11s with Burpees and Merkins. Then we hit the bars for 3-6-9s, knocking out 5 rounds. After that we pushed through a few rounds of pull-ups to failure and wrapped up with dead hangs. Most of us are holding close to a minute by this time next week, we’ll be at 90 seconds!

  • 369 Damn She……

    Beaver and I hit the morning with a mix of Broga and 369s Big Rig style! We knocked out 10 rounds of 369s with a run after the 5th round and another to finish strong. Beaver crushed his pull ups with some leg raised pull ups. I couldn’t manage those yet but maybe one day.

    Sending prayers for the men stepping up Friday night. Stay strong!

  • Let’s call this in!

    3 of us came out this morning moving some iron. On our adventures out we spotted two shady looking rides in the back lot with some young kids who clearly weren’t there for the ruck. So we did the responsible thing and called it in. Apparently the local cops hit snooze on their shift, and the suspects made a clean getaway. We still cranked out a 5K with some extra weight and got treated to a beautiful sunrise!

    5 All America Ultimate Frisbee players and 1 2.0 that knows how to run down the clock got together this morning. This is how it went down….

    Let’s just say the boys from the Lumberyard came ready for a game of Ultimate Frisbee. Wildwood, Yukon, and Sharktooth took home the gold today. Plenty of laughs were had this morning, with some solid trash talk and even a good beat down in.

  • That’s a lot of snot dude!

    Knocked out a lot of stretching this morning and taking it a little easier than normal. Beaver is feeling a little under the weather and I was feeling beat down all over. But we had to carry on!

    After 2 rounds of the 2 count Merkins the YHC called an audible and changed it to single count for time. Beaver kept it going and still finished with all of us. Pretty sure Yukon stuck with pull through Merkins the entire time. Wildwood was out there chasing dreams and dice rolls, putting in work before heading to the casino in Portsmouth. What a way to start the week with these men. The YHC looks forward to these workouts every week. I believe all of us are grateful for the laughs and push.

    The YHC was slacking this morning. His body wasn’t having it for some reason but we all have them days. Around 0540, a dude showed up nearby with sandbags and a medicine ball and got after it. Respect. We handed him an F3 card, so fingers crossed we’ll be welcoming a new FNG soon! This Saturday is Beavers 100th Q. Come check out the country and get a beatdown in.
