  • Three Man Hot Potato

The gloom nor a post New Year’s hangover could deter a triumphant three.  No Q, so it was time for the hot potato KB Q.  Here is how it went down:

  • PAX is Gaining More Respect

A group of Circus Maximus veterans answered the early alarm in order to throw around some KBs.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 30 2x SSH
      • 12 IW
      • 12 DQ
      • 12 Helicopters
      • 12 Suzanne Somers – each leg
      • 12 2x merkins
      • 30 2x LBC
    • Catch me if you can around the bus loop – one man carries 2 KBs while is partner does 10 burpees; repeat for a total of 50 burpees for each member of the PAX
    • Ground ‘n Pound AMRAP – 30 seconds for each exercise, with a series of breaks of 20, 15, 10 & 5 seconds
      • Overhead pulls
      • Sit ‘n presses
      • Skull crushers
    • Triple check
      • Bear crawl and run
      • Lawnmower pulls
      • Crunchy frogs
    • 1 minute wall sit
    • COT with YHC taking us out

5 KB veterans meant we were all business today.  A solid crowd for the holiday week.  For those that did not know, Chum Bucket is now a man that merits respect.  He crossed over into his 50s on Monday, and he continues to be a hoss on the KBs.  Good to see him out this early.  For those that are not aware, Johnsonville has one more Gridiron before he meets the same fate.  This PAX is redefining what to expect from the respected years.  Honeydo and YHC are minorities in the bunch.  YHC wishes we could say that we are running circles around these stallions, but when it comes to KBs, not so much.

Stay tuned for more info on workout times for next Tuesday.  Details remain unknown.

God is good all of the time!

  • Not Solo After All

At 06:59 it was not looking promising.  There was a Q, and he was about to embark on a solo mission.  Thankfully three more PAX members shook off the fartsack and kicked their inner sad clown in the groin, which is more than White Deer can say this morning.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 50 SSH
      • 15 Hillbillies
      • 15 DQ
      • Arm circles – 10 small/5 big, both ways
      • 15 Helicopters
      • Moving plank around the parking island
      • Parking lot tracers
    • Mosey to Pavillion
      • Series of 15 abyss merkins with partner doing squats
      • Rinse and repeat 5x
      • 30 2x LBC
    • Mosey to a different Pavillion
      • 25 dips
      • 25 one leg step-ups (right leg)
      • 25 dips
      • 25 one leg step-ups (left leg)
      • 30 2x LBC
    • Mosey to the Pavilions and perform the following 2x
      • 1 minute pole sit
      • 25 pole smokers
      • 25 hand release merkins
      • 25 WWII sit-ups

      • Reverse crunches
      • Storm squats
    • Mosey back to parking lot for COT with YHC taking us out

Grateful for the PAX that joined YHC today.  Flying solo would have sucked.  Solid work all around, with prayers being made for Johnsonville’s family after his mother had a stroke this week.  Great time after the workout at Einstein’s.  Lesson learned – teenage boys can do some stupid things.  Keep your head on a swivel.

God is good all of the time!

  • Shaking Off a Week’s Worth of Ailments

No sad clown syndrome for 7 noble warriors.  The cold weather would not deter the PAX from attacking the morning with an enthusiasm unbeknownst to the rest of mankind.  Here is how it went down:

    • Parking lot tracers
    • COP
      • 25 SSH
      • 20 IW
      • 15 DQ
      • 20 helicopters
      • 10 Suzanne Somers, each leg
      • 20 hand-release merkins
      • 30 2x LBC
    • Mosey to the jerkin gym for jerkin ladder for 10 on down
    • Mosey to the football field for a modified beast – 12 exercises at the 25, 50 and 25 yard lines then run goal line to goal line with exercises being cumulative
      • Merkins – 216 total
      • WWII sit-ups – 180 total
      • Flutter kicks 2x – 144 total
      • Crab cakes 2x – 108 total
      • Alternating lunges 2x – 72 total
      • Monkey humpers – 36 total
    • Triple check
      • Run
      • Bench kicks
      • Storm squats
    • COT with YHC taking us out

Welcome back Offshore!  Good to get you back in the fold.  As usual, strong work from Johnsonville after a week of strenuous workouts that were solely focused on testing his liver function.  No burpee inducing upchucking in his return to the Gridiron.  Adderall continues push the PAX and his own personal limits.  Quest continues to be steady and consistent.

For the record, White Deer did not do crab cakes during the cumulative beast.  They were some variation of a dead cockroach.

YHC had some unfortunate advice for the PAX.  All PAX should be careful not to lick the jerkin pole in this cold weather.    Just let that settle in.

As for the 3rd F at Einstein’s, the PAX was grateful to see our brother Earthworm return for some great fellowship.  His body might be recovering, but his mind remains highly conservative and highly opinionated.  Never a dull moment with our brother.  Good to see you Earthworm!  Do not be a stranger.

God is good all of the time!

  • A Grinder

It was cold and the week had taken a toll on a pair of rugged warriors, but that was not going to stop us.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 10 BOYOs
      • 25 SSH
      • 20 IW
      • 15 DQ
      • 20 Helicopters
      • 10 2x merkins
      • 10 2x Suzanne Somers, each leg
      • 25 2x LBC
    • Lucky Bus Loop – farmers carry to the four quadrants of the bus loop, perform 15 reps of a certain exercise, adding a new exercise for each quadrant, with a total of 7 at the end
      • Lawnmower pulls – each arm (7x)
      • High pulls (6x)
      • Sit ‘n presses (5x)
      • Halos (4x)
      • KB swings (3x)
      • Weighted lunges – both legs (2x)
      • Dead lifts
    • Run the bus loop
    • 20 overhead pulls
    • COP with YHC taking us out

Not going to lie, today was one of those days we had to grind through.  White Deer joined YHC is just gutting it out.  The PAX was not in top form, but showed immense heart.  T-claps to White Deer for joining me in this tough one.

God is good all of the time!

  • Misery Loves Company…How About Another 15 Reps?

Ten modern gladiators shook off the fartsack and embraced the cold.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • Parking lot tracers
      • 25 SSH
      • 15 IW
      • 15 Cherry Pickers
      • 15 helicopters
      • 10 2x merkins
      • 10 Suzanne Somers (each leg)
      • 25 2x LBC
    • Mosey to the bus loops to perform the following 2x:
      • 1 minute pole sit
      • 25 pole smokers
      • 25 reverse crunches
      • 1 minute elbow plank
      • 25 APD
      • Bear crawl to the other end of the drop off zone
    • Mosey to the tennis courts for 4 corners (15 reps at each corner)
      • Hand release merkins
      • Flutter kicks
      • WWII sit-ups
      • Crab cakes
    • Mosey back to the parking lot for a ring of fire
    • COT with YHC taking us out

YHC is still regrouping from Friday’s Wahoo meltdown.  Hence, 15 repeated reps of pain on the 4 corners.  UVA fans just know what misery looks like, and we must embrace it.  We can now only make others join us in our misery.

Good turnout this morning for a non-virgin Q.  Good to see so many familiar faces, including a welcomed appearance from Conspiracy.  Loose Goose, where are you?  Come back to the AO you helped birth!

God is good all of the time!

  • Making Room for Thanksgiving

YHC had a long drought Qing Gridiron, so it was time to go back-to-back.  With several familiar faces in tow, here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 25 SSH
      • 15 IW
      • 15 DQ
      • 15 helicopters
      • 10 Suzanne Somers (each leg)
      • 10 2x merkins
      • 25 LBC

    • Jerkin ladder – 8 on down
    • Mosey to pickle ball courts
      • Partner wheelbarrow 2 courts, 25 PLTs, switch for way back
      • Series of bear crawls over 2 courts with 25 exercise to follow and run back
        • Crab cakes
        • Hand release merkins
        • Reverse crunches
        • American hammers
      • Mosey to football field for a Lindsay with dips and bench kicks
      • Mosey to the track for a series of 100 yard dashes
      • Mosey back to shovel flag for COP with YHC taking us out

Great to have some familiar faces back in tow with Cecil, Nightcrawler and Quest.  Nightcrawler had some members of the PAX jealous with his lush and lively fro to start the morning.  YHC college roommate Johnny Utah (visiting from VA Beach) joined the PAX.  As always, solid work from the PAX.  Good core work and plenty of movement.  What White Deer lacked in foot speed was compensated for in mumblechatter.   As always, solid work from Johnsonville.

For those praying, Earthworm is home from the hospital and recovering from surgery.  Grateful he is doing well after such a long road to get to surgery.

As always, great fellowship at the Einstein’s for some 3rd F.  Happy Thanksgiving men!  I am thankful for you.

God is good all of the time!

  • Crazy but not Stupid

It was a brutally wet and cold morning at Circus Maximus.  Honeydo was slated to Q, but YHC offered to provide a dry beatdown.  Honeydo quickly handed the keys to this well-oiled machine over to YHC.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 25 SSH
      • 20 IW
      • 10 DQ
      • 15 helicopters
      • 10 2x merkins
      • 10 2x Suzanne Somers (each leg)
      • 25 2x LBC
      • 10 Herpies OYO
    • Series of Triple Plays, aka triple checks
      • #1 – KB presses, weighted lunges, pole sit
      • #2 – skull crushers, pole smokers, death crawl
      • #3 – lawnmower pulls (left and right), KB swings, run
    • COT with YHC taking us out

Small crowd, but solid work by all.  The PAX might be crazy for dragging their tails out of the fartsack on such a gloomy morning, but we are not dumb.  We stayed undercover and dry, avoiding pneumonia and other sicknesses that come with such miserable weather.  Good to have Ponch and P-Trap back in fold.  Impressed with P-Trap’s effort despite a sore shoulder.  As always, Honeydo was sporting the 35 pounder.  Well done noble warrior!

Pray for Earthworm today as he has surgery.  The PAX is eagerly awaiting our brother’s return.

Also, it is that time of the year to be thankful.  Healthy bodies to pound the pavement with and brothers to join us in the madness ranks up there.  Main area of thankfulness, God is good all of the time!

  • Back in the Q Saddle

It was a beautiful fall morning without fall sports for YHC.  Grateful to climb back in the saddle and Q Gridiron.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • Parking lot tracers
      • 25 SSH
      • 15 IW
      • 10 Cherry Pickers
      • 15 helicopters
      • 10 2x merkins
      • 10 2x scissor lifts (each leg)
      • 25 2x LBC
    • Mosey to the playground for 4 8x jerkins
    • Mosey to the bus loops to perform the following 4x:
      • 1 minute pole sit
      • 25 pole smokers
      • 25 reverse crunches
      • 1 minute elbow plank
      • 25 APD
      • Bear crawl 6 pillars
    • Bear crawl 20 yards
    • Mosey to the tennis courts for 4 corners (10, 15, 20, 25 reps at each corner)
      • Hand release merkins
      • Flutter kicks
      • Copperhead squats
      • WWII sit-ups
    • Mosey back around the school to the parking lot
    • COT with YHC taking us out

Good to see some old faces today as Nightcrawler reappeared at Gridiron.  Long time, no see brother!  P-trap continues to put in good work.  Really good to see him joining the Saturday PAX.  As always, solid work from Chum Bucket and Byproduct.  Adderall is just a beast. I am trying to shake the image of him doing APD and substituting pickle pounders for elbow planks.

Prayers for a quick recovery for J-ville with recent back injury.  Continued prayers for Earthworm and a speedy recovery and return.  Great time at Einstein’s for the 3rd F.

God is good all the time!

  • Beast for 2

A two man army attacked the KB with vengeance this morning.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 25 SSH
      • 15 Cherry Pickers
      • 15 helicopters
      • 10 2x merkins
      • 25 2x LBC
    • Mosey down the back drive toward the practice fields – stop for 20 lawnmower pulls with each arm
    • Learn the fields are in no condition for workout and Mosey back down the back drive towards the bus loop – stop for 20 lawnmower pulls with each arm
    • Cumulative beast – add an additional exercise for each leg
      • High pulls
      • High pulls, sit ‘n presses, KB swings
      • High pulls, sit ‘n presses, KB swings
      • High pulls, sit ‘n presses, KB swings, weighted squats
      • High pulls, sit ‘n presses, KB swings, weighted squats, halos
    • 15 2x weighted American hammers
    • COT with YHC taking us out

Today’s cumulative workout finished with 180 high pulls, 144 sit ‘n presses, 108 KB swings, 72 weighted squats, 36 halos and 40 lawnmover pulls with each arm.  Great work by the PAX today.  There was limited mumblechatter, but a great workmanlike approach by White Deer and YHC.  YHC wished we could have finished the cumulative beast.  The weighted detour to the fields was the time drain that squashed our chance at success.  Note taken  for next time.

God is good all the time!
