  • Getting old sucks

3 runners met up with 1 boot-camper at 5:30 we went our separate ways and according to the power walkers this is what happened to the runners.

After the initial cracks and pops of ligaments, tendons and joints a steady pace was settled into. The route was Left on Coalfield, Right on Woolridge, Left on Charter Colony turn back when you feel its time.

BTTF Numbers / Names DD took us out

NMS: MOT has so many great options this route is one of my favorites but it does have more uphill on the way back than on the way out. YHC didn’t quite make it to Timberwolf today but still got almost 6 miles on the books.

  • Saving the best for last

8 locals and 1 SOJ runaway gathered in the Gloom for a run or ruck this morning

According to the early morning walkers this is what happened

5:31 everyone shows up, YHC knew the route would be the neighborhood across the street but YHC just wasn’t 100% sure about what trails we could use to connect streets. Phonics luckily knew the way and was faster than everyone else so he was tasked with being the navigator through the Giles neighborhood. Right about 4.5 miles in Phonics says “we can head BTTF and run a lap around the track or go back through the neighborhood”. He forgot to mention that going through the neighborhood meant a long slow uphill finish that he wanted to run a 6.40 pace on. ?? what ??

BTTF Numbers / Names Opus (the designated prayer warrior) took us out

NMS: Thanks to Corn Beef for making sure someone would be able to point YHC in the right direction and thanks to Phonics for being my tour guide. Also thanks to Offshore for rolling in early and helping set my mind at ease, I knew then that I wouldn’t be running alone.

  • Magic Mile, No Thank You

5 speed walkers gathered at MOT to see if Heist really would wear his Magic Mike outfit. 5:30 No Heist, No Magic Mile. The route was Waldon Park to Queens Gate through the trail to The Grove up the hill now call “Sonna Bitch” onto Charter Colony BTTF

Numbers / Names and OC took us out

NMS: YHC did intervals on Tuesday and had already planned to do a longer run for Wednesday so the mumble chatter of the Magic Mile was not something I was looking forward to and Heist in a Magic Mike scenario just made it worse.

  • Just watchin Heist do Burpees

9 professional athletes or at least semi pro athletes showed up to see what Doozy had in store for this morning at Timberwolf.

Mosey to the tennis court for COP

DQ’s, Helicopters, Dead Man Hangs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Sugar Sticks (for OC), LBC’s, Merkins

Mosey to the side of school

    Frisbee Burpee Golf

A target (hole) is picked, everyone throws a frisbee in that direction and does one burpee. Each shot you take is the number of burpees you do. If your frisbee is caught you do 5 penalty burpees plus the number of burpees for your shot. If you try to catch some ones frisbee and it hits your hand but you miss it, you do 5 burpees.

About 7 rounds where played, some short, some long

BTTF and 1 Merkin ring of fire (10 of your favorite Merkins)

Numbers / Names Heist took us out

NMS: Now that it is light enough to see at the start, it seemed like a good time to get the frisbees back out. Heist always seemed to be the last one making the shot to finish the round but it wasn’t because he sucked at frisbee golf. Heist may have been the only one doing perfect form burpees regardless of the number he was on. As always it was a good time had by all, SYITG

  • Happy accident

It’s really a simple route, you can’t get lost because it’s an out and back.

    Wrong

The route was supposed to be Midlo to Charter Colony to the turn around at Timberwolf or 22.5 minutes whichever comes first.

YHC made an early turn at Coalfield instead, the happy accident was that Coalfield provides a sidewalk where Charter Colony makes you battle vehicles for the first .5 miles before connecting to a sidewalk.

The PAX did connect back to Coalfield via 688, everyone turned around at the 22.5 minute mark. YHC ended up with 5 miles total

NMS: Good morning getting a chance to learn a little bit about Lurch while running. Thanks to all the PAX for birthday wishes.

  • Solo runner

YHC was the lone runner that came out of the Gloom at MOT this morning, SOT guys went one way and YHC went the other.

To the circle at Timberwolf and back (Garmin says 7 miles)

  • Run it again

Solo runner at MOT this morning and feeling uninspired YHC decided to run the same route as last week.

Walton Park to Queensgate to Coalfield and BTTF

The hills in the middle of this route are brutal

  • Hit by a car!!!!?

1 Early riser, 9 on time and 1 in the middle of the COP showed up to see what a No Toll Doozy Q looked like. According to the keepers of the “stay off the Field” signs this is what happened.

Mosey to the bridge to pay the No Toll, Toll 20 Dips and 20 Incline Merkins

Mosey to the parking lot for COP – SSH, DQ’s, Helicopters, Dead Man Hangs, Imperial Squat Walkers, Merkins, LBCs

Mosey to field number 1, from the center of the field there are frisbees in each corner with an exercise wrote on them, do 10 of that exercise run back to the middle do 5 burpees run to the next corner and repeto until you have completed all four corners.

Mosey to field number 2 Repeto with different exercises, mosey to field number 3 Repeto with different exercises

Collect all the lights and frisbees mosey back to the bridge to pay the Toll again 20 dips 20 incline merkins

Mosey to the basketball court and circle up for some man killers and finish with 10 Burpees OYO

BTTF Numbers / Names Last Call took us out

NMS: Mr Roper started todays mumble chatter off by telling us that he has been out since January because he was hit by a car “?????”. The fact that nobody knew or has said anything if they did makes me question how our accountability is going in RVA. If there is a brother out there that you haven’t seen in a while, YOU (Me) need to reach out and find out how they are doing.

  • Just one more mile??? Whatever!!

4 Long distance runners gathered in the Gloom to find out if YHC’s route was really 5 or was it actually 6 miles? Leave the Midlo Middle parking lot to the right, to Waldon Pond Rd, Right on Queensgate over the rollercoaster, right on Coalfield, Right on Midlo, BTTF.

Numbers / Names OC took us out

NMS: Rosie and YHC ran that route a few weeks ago and YHC thought it was a just under 5 mile route???? Oops, my bad. YHC turned around at the coalfield circle (around mile 4) and told Cookie only one more mile but at mile 5 turned back for the 6 again and had to tell Cookie 1 more mile. We are all better for it, well done gentlemen, well done.

  • Head Bangers Ball Valentines

4 80’s want to be rock stars appeared from the Gloom with 2 runners that went their own way. According to the top 10 charts this is what happened.

With speaker in hand and Poison starting us off Mosey to the lower bus lot for COP

DQ’s, Helicopters, SSH, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, LBC’s, Dead Man Hang

Mosey to the track before someone runs us over

Track style four corners one of the PAX picks an exercise then rolls the dice to determine the number of times that exercise will be done on each corner of the track. Alice Cooper, Ozzy and Kiss were some of the bands that escorted us around the track 7 times.

Mosey to the bottom of the stairs

Partner steps, Partner 1 runs up and down the steps while partner 2 does an exercise Repeto 5 reps

Mosey up the steps and to the side of the school

15 Hoedowns (IC) run across the driveway to the benches 15 dips, repeto next set is 10

    Time was called BTTF

Numbers / Names Greenbow took us out

Prayers for Don Draper, twisted an ankle this morning

    NMS:

YHC probably could have done a better job and made it a Valentines day themed beatdown but I really just didn’t think that through. DK had his eyes set on the sky this morning and pointed out all the things that we typically don’t even look up at. The Earth seems like a big place but in reality it is a tiny little spec on a God sized canvas.
