  • When the county does not clear the parking lot you can always count on the Presbyterians

Six salty stalwarts answered the call to post at Hoedown. With the TES lot a skating rink all the PAX found their way to the 3rd Prez parking lot for the beatdown.

Start off heading over to TES to look for anyone who might have gone to the normal spot, catch Handshake pulling into 3rd’s lot for the COP:

SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, LBCs, Merkins, Flutterkicks. Mosey to other lot for a Triple check: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, run the full lot. Back over to YHCs truck to pickup frozen Coupons. Partner up for a Dora: 100 Presses, aka thrusters, 200 block presses, 300 Block swings while partner runs the lot.

With 6 why not another Triple check: Block lunges, WWIIs, run out of lot over to TES and back. Finish with another loop of 3rd and 2 min of Mary. An angel opened up the 3rd lobby for an indoor COT and coffee.

    Announcements: Frozen Triangle this weekend.

NMS: Without the wind the 12 degrees was not too bad, and 50% of the PAX were SOP! Thanks to Bodos and the 3rd staff for clear and safe parking lots. The indoor COT and coffeteria were a great way to start the week and month. Considering the weather not much doubt whether Groundhog day means 6 more weeks of winter.

  • Hanging here like a Lithuanian Sea Lion

A frosty fourteen PAX arrived at various times at Dogpile, with 2 promised downrange via Faceplant, we tried to give them a good tour:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Down to Amphitheater: Partner up for a Triple check, which quickly descended into Chaos: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, run up and around Amphitheater.

Over to the other stage to introduce our downrangers to a Dogpile favorite: Touch a Tree. Rounds were 3,5, and 8 trees. Keep partner and do 3 rounds of 20 PLTs. Down to the Rusty Cage: 4 rounds of 6 Pullups and 10 Jerkins, to blow out the arms.

Mosey to front of Carillon. Few rounds of jump squats, WWIIs, and Burpees. Back to the flag and 2 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

Announcements: Rosie’s 12 Days at NoToll this week. Kubota has the Bridge next weekend.

NMS: Solid crew of 14 this morning. Apparently the Q has to be extremely descriptive when calling for a Triple Check, as many PAX were confused by an exercise we’ve all done 100+ times before.

Glad to have some downrange visitors to the F3RVA holy site, YHC tried to give them a good taste of the AO which is impossible in only an hour. Backblast title came from Senor Frog, you had to be there. Only those who post know…

  • Sausage casing weather at FW

Eight PAX answered the early call to First Watch and started a few seconds early. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkicks.

Mosey to back lot of RRbC for a “basic 4 corners” as Handshake called it: 10 Burpees, 20 HRMs, 30 Jump Squats, 40 SSH. Go over to front of church and find some grass for PLTs: 3 rounds of 20.

Over back to parking lot to retrieve some coupons, then over to HCSP for a Dora: 100 Block Thrusters, 200 Block presses, 300 Squats. Keep same partner and add 4 rounds: Swings, Skull crushers, SitnPresses, more block presses. Mosey back to flag, drop off coupons, finish up with few seconds of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Solid PAX this morning and great to see Lockjaw back out in the Gloom. With Kubota and Gomer with us YHC chose to not venture out too far from the AO center. Not a ton of mumblechatter this morning besides the PAX being supportive of YHC taking the Q.

Just like all things Christmas encroaches earlier in to November the SZN of GVN at First Watch kicks off next week.

  • Be sure to wash off the chalk

Three hearty souls fought off the siren song of the Fartsack to post in perfect 50 degree temps and ample rain. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers. Head up to covered area for rest: Merkins, LBCs, Flutterkicks. Triple check: Hand Release Merkins, Heels2Heaven, run blacktop and back. Mosey to upper field to enjoy the puddles. 4 rounds of run to bars, 10 Pull-Ups, run back and 5 burpees. Back to bus loop for another triple check: Balls2Wall, Donkey Kicks, run drop off loop. Finish off with 4 sprints the length of the parking lot. Plus One took us out.

NMS: YHC and Upchuck were considering where to go grab coffee and stay dry at 5:28 with just the 2 of us there until Plus One pulled up. Guess we are getting after it. YHC had stayed up late designing a minimal running beatdown on the off-chance that Kubota would post. Guess that can be saved for another day. Get ready to vote tomorrow while we still have elections, and if you like it that way remember that when voting…

  • Just like his namesake

Eight PAX took off at 5:30 for the COP. One was hesitant to join us while another only made it a few minutes before breaking down.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey to far end of soccer field for Lindseys: Merkins and Jump Squats. Then 3 rounds of 20 PLTs each. Over to blacktop for Triple check of: Squats and Reverse Crunches. Over to bars for 3 rounds of 8 Jerkins. Head over to tennis courts for several rounds of sprints. Back to flag for 3 min of Mary.

NMS: Bodos showed up at 5:25 to tell us he would then leave us to go on a training run for his upcoming half marathon. The PAX cajoled him into staying with us while the Q promised to get him in some running. Sabb (aka Saab) tweaked something in the COP and went off to stretch. TYA and Bone Thugs pulled into the COT on their bikes after knocking out some miles this morning.

  • I am familiar with the works of Pablo Neruda

A perfect number 16 took off promptly at 5:30 to the edges of HBR, only to be joined 5 minutes in by Fudd making us a prime number PAX for the rest of the beatdown. Handshake took the 1st half of the beatdown and HDo took the 2nd half. We did:

COP: SSH, Ukrainian Soldiers, Helicopters, HRMs, LBCs, Scorpion Kicks-correct and incorrect. Mosey to our namesake hill: Triple check of: Burpees, WWIIs, down Heartbreak hill and bernie back up. Over to baseball field for some rounds of running the bases then break up into 3 groups for: Burpees, Jump Squats, and WWIIs. Pass Q to YHC.

Head down to bleachers for everyone’s favorite: 4 Rounds of 40 Benchkicks and 20 Squats. Sprinkle in a set of Pickle Pounders, then over to Jerkin Gym: 4 rounds of 8 Jerkins. Over to end of parking lot to huff some diesel fumes and do a raised tunnel of love. Back to the flag with burpee ring of fire and 2 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Poor Fudd was left to wander the AO for a while as Handshake took us to the very back of the fields for the COP. Salt Lick was kind enough to waive him down and bring him over, which was met with Fudd’s notorious kindness upon arrival in the COP. Bernie’ing up Heartbreak Hill 3 times is a way to start the beatdown so your Quads are sufficient spent.

Good to have 17 out and Fireman Ed join us this morning. The west end clown car of Gold Digger, Borat, and Green Hornet is a consistent feature of HBR now, love it! Finishing up with a Burpee RoF seemed like a good idea until you realize that is 17 Burpees in a row at the end.

Announcements: 2nd F Lunch that is on the 2nd Tuesday of the month is on Tuesday the 14th, which falls on the 2nd Tuesday at noon. Location is Joey Hotdogs in Innsbrook.

  • Mariner missed Joey C

Fifteen of Westhoe’s finest came to Tuesday’s finest AO for a beatdown. A few joined us in the COP after we got started.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Arm Circles, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey to front of PES for Triple Check: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, run the loop. Mosey down to QMS tennis courts for a HDo favorite: Wheelbarrows and Derkins. 3 rounds.

Then over to QMS benches for 4 rounds of 40 Benchkicks & 20 Squats, with Handshake very concerned with everyone’s Squat form. Down to the Jerkin Gym for 4 rounds of 8 Jerkins. Back to the flag for 3 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Always a good morning when the age range of the PAX is between teens and seventies. YHC took the Q to sweat off some excess vacation lbs. Without his pal Joey Chesnut, Mariner was stuck with us old guys. Solid to have 15 PAX while missing some HBR regulars.

Announcements: Ruck event this weekend in SOJ. What better way to spend 8-12 on a Friday night.

  • Bonus time on both ends

Nine noble warriors woke up early for some perfect conditions at First Watch. A record 7 were limbered up already from Broga so we got after it:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Flutterkicks, Merkins, Scorpion kicks

Over to big parking lot for 4 corners: 10 Burpees, 20 HRMs, 30 Jump Squats, 40 LBCs. Mosey back to YHCs truck to retrieve coupons. Over to HCSP for Dora: 100 Swings, 200 Presses, 300 Squats while partner runs to light & back. Next up everyone’s favorite: Block the Plank, 3 rounds while partner does 10 Merkins.

Finish back in parking lot of Triple check: Block presses, Heels2Hean, run lot & back, finish 30 seconds over time. YHC took us out.

NMS: With 9 PAX ready at 4:58 we got an early start this morning. Tons of laughing and mumblechatter in the COP. There were some groans from the PAX with more coupon time after an hour on Labor Day of the same.

Senor Frog balled out over the weekend at the Biltmore while Ronnie pulled up in his 17th different car since he started F3. Bacon Bits has slimmed down, way to go!

  • The rain stopped just in time

Eleven PAX, including an FNG, all heard the downpour before 5 am but posted to HBR anyway. We did:

COP on back blacktop: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Helicopters, Merkins, LBCs. No scorpion kicks much to Lighthouse’s dismay.

Four corners to start: 10 burpees, 20 HRMs, 30 WWIIs, 40 Jump Squats. 2nd round keep the numbers going: 50 Carolina Dry Docks, 60 Mtn Climbers, 70 LBCs, 80 SSH. Over to DK wall for Dora 123: 100 Merkins, 200 Donkey Kicks, 300 Squats.

Mosey across the field all the way down to Jerkin Gym. 4 rounds of 7 Jerkins. Over to Heartbreak Hill to introduce our FNG to the namesake: 5 rounds up & down with 5 Merkins at top and 2 Burpees at bottom. Mosey back to flag for 3 min of Mary.

NMS: Welcome Sinbad! Impressive to come out in the wet conditions, although the rain stopped right before we got started. The lack of rain made is just swampy and humid with nothing to cool us down but we got after it. Solid work by all the PAX.

  • Young kids and creepy Grandpas in the Gloom

Eight strong came out to 45MoM to sweep up the grass clippings from the fields and get a beatdown in the process.

COP: Invisible Jumpropes, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Helicopters, Merkins, LBCs, Scorpion kicks.

Dora 123: 100 HRMs, 200 LBCs, 300 Monkey Humpers. Stay with partners: 3 sets of PLTs. Over to soccer fields for Beast: Merkins, LBCs, Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, Heels2Heaven, SSHs. Mosey over to tennis courts for some merkins and WWIIs. Finish with sprints down Commonwealth and 3 min of Mary to close us out. YHC took us out.

Announcements: Sign up for Breaking Bread and The Bridge.

NMS: We took off a few seconds early and Hitch and Vandalay & Nacho Libre found us in the COP. Senor Frog posted in his namesake’s T-shirt, which we got all dirty in the process. Hitchhiker got his jacket back from Memorial day, be careful what you leave at workouts, just ask Faceplant…

Solid work this morning from all. Always good to have teens and 60 yr olds in the Gloom together.
