  • Back to normal at Hoedown

Fifteen faithful found their way in the dark to Hoedown to find things back to the normal school routine:

Cop – SSH, Don Qs, Scorpion kicks, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Hillbillies. Redskins tribute: 24 Burpees for 24 pts in their win yesterday.

Mosey to Blacktop for 4 Corners: 10 V-Ups, 20, Hand Release Merkins, 30 Jump Squats, 40 WWII Situps. Partner up- Wheelbarrow width of blacktop, each man twice.

Head to field- 2 sets of sprints up n back. Then 3 sets of PLTs. Partners head to wall. 3 rounds of altnerating Donkey Kicks while other runs field, 5 pull ups and back. Then down to drop off circle for Triple Check of B2W, Flutterkicks, and run loop. Finish with 30 American Hammers. Handshake took us out.

NMS – School is back in session, 15 PAX at Hoedown, AO is dangerously dark, Saab talked about fallic symbols, Fudd was LIFO, and all is right with the world. 24 Burpees in the cop was a bit much bit HTTR!

We had 2 BRR runners post with Saab and Gomer Pyle, Aye!  They both looked fine after their long weekend. Mumblechatter was more about the Kubota/Gumbo Dogpile beat down than BRR stories.

Good to have Flange and Buttermilk out. And good words from Handshake at the end, can’t believe it has been 6 months. Time flies in the Gloom…

Announcements – 4 Year Anniversary next Saturday 9/22 and Slurpee has Breaking Bread on 9/23. He could use some more hands.

Have a great week men, Silent Assassin signing off.

  • New faces at the Circus

Eight eager men came to Circus Maximus on another humid morning. Loaner KBs were dispatched and off we went for:

Cop – ssh, Helicopter, Don Qs, Merkin, Flutterkicks, Hillbillies. Head to back of school-

4 Rounds of: 20 Donkey Kicks, 20 Squats, lunge across, then 20 Lawnmowers. Then 4 Round’s of 25 KB Swings, KB Crab walk across, 10 SitnPress.

Head back for Boat N Canoe, 10 Snatch each arm. 20 Skull Crushers and 15 Pullovers. Finish with some Mary. Atilla took us out.

NMS- Great to see Kru back out and Ponch bringing his pals P-trap and Carlton back out. The 4 rounds of DKs/lunges took longer than expected but the pax kept it moving. White Deer and Jville pushed each other up front and Atilla is back to form after his west coast trip.

Good luck to the BRR crew and Kru mentioned he is doing the Travis Manion 5k this Sunday, you can sign up day of.

  • OTB is in the books

A Solo Summer tour traveler came out to run. Yhc had no idea where he was going so did some coal field to midlothian loops and tried not to get lost. Check this one off the challenge list.

  • Heartbreak Ridge secured by Henrico’s finest

6 studs came out to Heartbreak Ridge on a cool, almost fall-like, morning. We did:

COP – Invisible Jumprope, Don Qs, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkicks. Mosey to Honeysuckle Hill.

Triple check – Donkey Kicks, Squats, and Bernie Sanders up Honeysuckle hill. Head to tennis courts- Wheelbarrow from baseline to net, 10 Derkins. Each man does 4 times. Over to basketball court.

10 WWII situps each hoop, bear crawl between hoops. Down to Jerkin Gym. 4 sets of 8 Jerkins. Benchkicks sets of 30, 35, and 40.

Heartbreak Hill- Up, 10 Merkins, and down. 5 times. Back to Jerkin Gym for AMRAP set. Back to flag, some Mary, then Atilla took us out.

NMS – YHC forgot he had signed up to Q until EF Hutton reminded him last night at Punisher. On our initial mosey a police car sped by and hit his siren announcing the whole AO had been secured, which was important since this was Rosie’s first post at HBR.

We started actually at 5 but Mr Holland got in at the COP to make it a perfect 6 pax. We had 2 more of Henrico’s finest pass while on Honeysuckle hill. YHC has not Qed enough with the summer tour so he wanted to get in his favorites: Donkey Kicks, Wheelbarrow, and Benchkicks.

Everyone brought it this morning. Bromance keeps getting stronger,  Phonics and Rosie set the pace, and Atilla was happy to hit the Jerkin Gym. Rosie was impressed we have a specific Jerkin set for us. Mr Holland was glad for the Jerkins to match his sleeves Guns Out look.

Heartbreak Hill always sucks, but even more so when your shoes weigh 5 lbs with the dew.

Announcements – 6pack CSAUP and endurance CSAUP in October. Labor day convergence with Daville taking the lead, albeit at a Henrico AO.

    Silent Assassin signing off.

  • La theme Francais at Chienpile

Vingt-Quatre (avec un FNG) posted on a beautiful Saturday morning for a Bastille day beatdown at Chienpile and figure out what a French theme would entail.  Here is what we did:

COP – SSH, Helicopters, Merkins, Freddy Mercurys, Scorpion Kicks, Don Qs.  Head to Amphitheatre for:

Bastille Day celebration.  Original day was 1789 so we did:  Burpees up each step for the 17 then back down and 5 V-Ups per steps until last step where we did 4 to get to 89.  Then head down love hill and over to Pipeloop.

Partner up for Classic Dora:  100 Merkins, 200 Jump Squats, & 300 Box Cutters.  Running up Pipeloop was a tribute to mountain stages of Tour De France.  Head up to Rusty Cage:

4 Sets of 8 Pull-Ups & 4 Sets of 10 Dips.  Then head to Amphitheater field for Soccer Practice in honor of France is World Cup final tomorrow.  PAX worked on most important skill in soccer:  Taking a dive – PAX would sprint, YHC called contact and PAX were to do their best Neymar imitation of being shot and roll on the ground in agony.  Whoever acted the most hurt got the Call and select 20 reps of an exercise of their choice.  Fireman Ed called 20 WWII Situps, Handshake called Mtn Climbers, and Swirly called Hand-Release Merkins.  Finish up with Sprint back across the field and then mosey back to the flag.  Wilson took us out.

NMS – YHC signed up for Dogpile Q about 3 months ago and almost forgot about it until he checked the Q sheet on Thursday.  A Bastille Day theme with the Carillon steps open was hoped for but the fence still remains up, maybe next year.  Some quick math of 17 steps in the Amphitheater gave us a chance to honor Bastille Day in F3RVA’s own way.  We were missing some Dogpile regulars but the siren song of Lockjaw’s Gridiron Q called some away, like Hardywood midway through our beatdown.

The cooler temps last night made the grass soaking wet for the V-Ups.  The Pipe-Loop Dora may be getting a lot of use this summer but it is only available for a few weeks before the sunlight escapes soon so use it or lose it.  Mumblechatter was heard about this new killer plant that burns your skin now in VA and how PAX should beware.

There was no French connection to the Rusty Cage, just needed to crush the Arms with dips.  PAX knocked it out in short order. There was almost some French added though as rumor had it that some Merlot was spilled behind the Dip bars but that was just Bromance modifying the exercise.  PAX seemed to enjoy their soccer practice at the end.  The USA still has a long way to go to master the art of the Dive and advance to the World Cup elite.

Good to see the New Market crew pull in with 3 strong.  Wilson took a fair amount of ribbing but good to see him, Honeymoon, and Marmaduke back in action.  Welcome to FNG Diggler, not sure how having a porn-stache gets you that name but it made sense at the time.  Also great to see Hitchhiker out in the gloom one week after his new baby arrived.

Annoucements – Puppy-Pile next weekend.  Also TYA has a CSAUP planned for October – stay tuned for more details upon his return but start your distance training now.

  • Ok, Ok we will stay off the field

Six strong, including a FNG, made it out to HBR to see if the fields are in better shape. We did:

Mosey to top field, botched disclaimer then COP of SSH, Don Qs, Merkins, Flutterkicks Scorpion Kicks, and Imperial Walkers .

Head over to DK wall for Dora 123. 100 Donkey Kicks, 200 Jump Squats, 300 LBCs. Head down to Jerkin Gym. 4 sets of 8 Jerkins. Then over to benches for 3 sets of Benchkicks and Derkins. First set: 40&10, then 35&15, 30&20.

Head back to Heartbreak Hill – Up, 15 WWII situps, then down. 2 more times up, decreasing WWIIs by 5. Then Jerkin Gym again: 4 sets of 5.

Back to flag for mary, then Atilla took us out.

NMS – YHC wasn’t sure what kind of pax we would have with several regulars out but ended up with perfect 6 Pax number. Welcome Kasem, our FNG who EF Hutton EH’ed. Nice work this morning, all without losing your keys.  YHC was sure to avoid the football field that now has 2 signs on it saying stay off unless approved. Not a lot of mumblechatter as the temperature was in charge. At least with the lack of rain the grass was dry and no bugs were out.

YHC screwed up in the COP by welcoming everyone to Hoedown, wrong day. Then apparently on the hill runs YHC said only 2 times up but when we did a 3rd time Hutton said he appreciated the challenge.

Garbage Plate still hates Benchkicks. Bromance put in good work and Atilla was his steady self.

Announcements – Convergence tomorrow. Be there at 7 at Tredegar.

  • Good morning for a dip

5 fleet footed trail runners took off at 7 wondering where the other 3 F3RVA car owner’s would be on the trails.  Main PAX did:

    • Northbank to Pottersfield bridge, across to buttermilk, then down train tracks, hop in for a quick dip in James River before finishing up back across Nickel Bridge.

NMS – YHC rarely can make the Sunday trail runs with family Sunday schedules but since YHC is a bachelor the next several days the first thing that came to mind was hitting the trails this am.  We started with just Ollivander and YHC but Hardywood pulled in at 7 and off we went.  Phonics and Betsy Ross caught us as we were getting started and our 5 PAX was cruising.  Ollivander forgot his socks but pushed through it.

Nice conversation along the way with varying topics and all PAX were amazed how Rosie and Shakedown crushed the 50k in these warm temps.  Hardywood directed us down the river trails to his hidden spot where all 5 of us took a dip in the James for a few minutes.  Man that felt good.  Of the 4 dads in the main PAX 3 have 4 kids, or soon will.  Step it up Ollivander.  T-Claps for Prodigious Procreators!

Arriving back at the parking lot Saab and TYA were waiting for us having hit the trails early.  Circle K came in on the bike at 7:05 with his watching saying he did 21 or so miles.  Hardywood took us out.

Annoucements – TYA’s F3RVA Ultra is a go for 10/20. 3 mile loops, kryptonite, and fun.  What more could one want?  Also Hardywood’s Cap2Cap Bike&Run relay will happen, we just need to pick a date.

  • CAPS theme is back on at TT

2, no 3, no 4 arrived at different times to celebrate the Caps Stanley Cup victory at Twin Team. We did:

Lap around Parking lot for stragglers, picked up Boudreaux and then COP of: ssh, Don Qs, Merkins, Lbcs, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers.

Triple check: Elbow Plank, Bunny hops over planker, 3rd guy runs field & back. Flipper arrived halfway through to throw off our numbers.

Head to playground: Caps won 4 games in 4 playoff rounds, 4 sets of 4 Pull-ups.

Head to baseball stands. Caps point total for regular season was 105 so 105 Benchkicks, broken into 3 sets with 10 Derkins between set. Then 16 Box Jumps for the 16 total playoff wins.

Head around back to field: 3 sets of 25 PLTs. Then 8 sets of parking lot Sprints. Bear Crawl field, some Mary then 8 Burpees for the Great #8.

NMS- YHC forced himself to post by signing up for the Q. YHC had a Caps theme planned but when Vegas went up 3-2 in the 2nd chose to head to bed prematurely. YHC was pleasantly surprised waking up from a text from Vinny at 5 am as he was aware of the Caps fun. Theme back on!

Few things are as scary as a Q with just Rosie the solo Pax. What can a Q do to challenge or slow him down? YHC was mentally preparing to resort to 45 min of bear crawl as we 2 started then Boudreaux arrived to give us 3. Boudreaux put in solid work a day after spilling Merlot at Lab Rat’s Q.

Mumblechatter was on the Caps win of course, Flippers weight loss, and Crossfit’s change to gear and equipment. Looks like Flip Dog is down 3 Lbs, you’re welcome!

Small crowd at Twin Team but betting Pax chose RAMM to see what Upchuck had in mind as he is a real CAPS fan.

  • Downrange in FL

2 travelers posted at the normal F3 Ft Lauderdale spot for a Nomad beatdown. We hot potatoed it up:

Upchuck:  COP, 10Merkins at light post, Partner up for B2W and Touch a Tree.

Honeydo: Run to parking deck. Bernie Sanders up deck, 2 Burpees each light. 3 sets of 20 PLTS and 10 WWII situps. Run deck, then back down. 3 sets of 10 BoxJumps, 10 Derkins.

4 more sets of Derkins on Flower Pots. Then some Mary and out.

NMS – YHC hooked Upchuck  on this nomad workout by reminding him last time we did this in FL his Cubs won the WS. Upchuck always the superstitious CAPS fan posted on minimal sleep.

The FL humidity made us pine for the cooler temps of back home. There was discussion of those in the RVA tour challenge getting bonus Nomad points this summer posting out of RVA.

Always good to see a friendly face in the gloom when traveling, make the chaos of business travel much more tolerable.

  • New Nano-AO: Zong Fit

16 strong came out to soak in the cooler temperatures at Hoedown. Here is what went down:

COP – SSH, Helicopters, Merkins, Scorpion Kicks, Flutterkicks, Don Qs. Mosey over to Tuckahoe Shopping Center. Partner up:

Wheelbarrow across lot, 10 Shoulder Presses. Switch partners going back. Repeato x3.

Cross street to Church lot for 4 Corners. Reps of 10, 15, 20, 25. First round: backwards run & merkins. 2nd round: karaoke & Heels2Heaven. 3rd round: High knees and Mtn Climbers.

Mosey to back of TES. Partner up again. Donkey Kicks & partner runs field & 5 Pull-ups. Repeato x4.  Then Elbow plank, 4 sets of 20 PLTs. 10 Burpees then back to flag. Finish up with Freddy Mercurys & American Hammers.

NMS – YHC had wanted to try out the Shopping center lot for a Q for some time just to change things up. All started well until several tomatoes pulled in for their workout at Zing Fit. we must have been quite a sight at 5:40. Fudd was disheartened for not a single tomato gave a ” Hi Roger” as they moved past us.

Saab was warned before the start his choice to go glove less might not be wise. We also used the other church lot for the first time. A lot easier to try things out in the light of June mornings. Also good to see Gucci back in the gloom, now a regular again.

Please pray for Ronnie and Kubota as they both are on IR for a while. The Hoedown Q is open next Monday with Kubota out.

YHC was glad he could Q on his 3 year Anniversary of his first post. Amazed at what great friends I’ve made and how you PAX have made me a better man.
