  • DK and his Imaginary FNG

Five (or was it six?) took advantage of summer weather on a november morn. We did:

COP -SSH, Imperial Walkers, Don Qs, Merkins, Flutterkicks Scorpion Kicks, Arm Circles.

Head to Parking lot. 10 Merkins each light. 12 in total. Mosey to back road. 10 Jump Squats each parking cone. 20 cones in total. Then head to Donkey Kick Wall for Goodbye Dollies and 20 Donkey Kicks.

Head to smaller parking lot – 10 Merkins per light, 6 in total. Indian Run back to BW, 2 Burpees back man. Back to field- 20 WWII Situps, run across field 5 merkins, run back. Increase WWII situps by 5 all the way up to 40. Back to flag for RoF. Mr Roper took is out.

NMS – DK was hoping a FNG he had EH’ed would post. He was on the lookout during the COP, then on the Merkin lot found the FNGs car in that lot, but no Andy in sight. Several PAX began to wonder was Andy real or had DK finally turned rabid from a Racoon bite and began hallucinating. Finally at the end during the WWII Andy found us between the trees. He did not join us for the end, maybe next week.

Merkin count was 235 for the Pax. During the Jumpsquats Rosie had a lot of questions, to be fair he was setting the pace.

Small numbers at TwinTeam, apparently the New Market pax can’t post 2 days in a row after Timberwolf.

Announcements – Gingerbread house fundraiser at Hardywood this Sunday at noon.

  • How to survive in a horror movie

A frightful five came out to Heartbreak Ridge to train up for this evening’s festivities lest they take a turn for the worse.

COP- SSH, Imperial Walkers, Don Qs, Flutterkicks, Merkins, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey to school wall facing parking lot for Sprints. 2 Rounds of Sprint lot and back like someone was chasing you.

Head to baseball field, audible since field was waterlogged. Head to blacktop. 20 Coffin Openers (aka WWI Situps).  Then gather in middle of blacktop for Scatter drill. 1 PAX does 2 Burpees and then chases down PAX who are bear crawling to safety of grass. Each pax takes turn as chaser. 20 more Coffin Openers. Then grab piece of wall and try new Goodbye Dollys, an upside down Hello Dolly while in Balls2Wall.

Head to track. Each pax does 10 Captain Crunches while rest do Jerkins. Head to Heartbreak Hill for injured partner carry up hill. So much fun repeato. Mosey to benches for reverse crunches, Flutterkicks. Then 2 more rounds of Sprints. Finish with Pickle Pounders and LBCs.

    Mr Holland took us out.

NMS – The PAX took to the survival theme with gusto. EF Hutton led the sprints but that may be because Garbage Plate isn’t 100%. The zombie scatter chase on the blacktop was a blast. YHC was the only one to make it to the grass although EF Hutton proved hardest to catch.

We now now how to make Heartbreak Hill worse, just do partner carry up it. If you get injured don’t expect Atilla to carry you away from danger as he’ll drop you for dead.

Pickle Pounders were added as no good horror movie is without sexual activity.

Happy Halloween from the Silent Assassin!

  • Chicken Peckers and Kettlebells don’t mix

A faithful four came out to the Circus on a beautiful fall morning. 48 degrees, stocking cap weather for some, and clear and YHC was allowed to keep his Q that he signed up for. We did-

COP – SSH, Helicopters, Scorpion Kicks, Don Qs, Merkins, LBCs. Grab the KB for-

50 Swings, 25 Squats, 20 Around the World, 25 Squats, Merkin Rows, Squats, Boat-Canoe. Elbow plank & Pickle Pounders.

Attempted Chicken Peckers w/ KB. Not successful. Audible to 3 sets of Donkey Kicks and LBCs. More Boat-Canoe.

Line up under columns. Lunge between column, 5 Merkin Rows at each Column. Same thing back but Squats instead of Rows.

10 Cleans each arm. Squats, Lawnmowers, Pullovers. Pickle Pounders, American Hammers, 20 Situp presses. Flutterkicks & then Atilla to us out.

NMS- YHC enjoyed Circle Ks new exercise from Wdog why not try Chicken Peckers with a KB? YHC demo’ed it, almost fell over, and then the PAX tried it anyway. Note doing B2TW with a Kettlebell staring at you in the face if you slip is not fun.

We did a lot of Squats for a good leg burn. Jville made it through with no issues and White Deer kept his normal mumblechatter to a minimum.

Mumblechatter did focus on Pickle Pounders are not a novelty. No Earthworm today as he and his M are still on a Bridges of Madison County tour in the NE.

  • Proper trimming leads to better results

14 strong gathered at Hoedown to enjoy the properly maintained grassy sections of TES. It only rained when the PAX were facing skyward on the ground. It went down with:

COP – Invisible Jump Ropes, Don Qs, Helicopters, Merkins, Freddy Mercurys. Head up to top field, partner up- 50 Pull-ups between 2 partners.

Face school- Bear Crawl across field, lunge back. Then broad jump across field, lunge back. Partner up – Wheelbarrow across and back. Then Crab Walk, lunge back.

Line up for Human Centipede. 1 time through. Mosey to 3rd Prez Parking lot. Derkins down by five from 20 across lot. Karaoke across. Then 15 Jump Squats each end 4 time.

Back to front of school for 3 sets of 20 PLTs. Fish up with 3 sets of: 20 Donkey Kicks and 5 Burpees. COT and Marv took us out.

NMS – The rain started as soon as we started Freddy Mercurys but stopped and held off until we hit the ground again for PLTs near the end. Otherwise perfect weather. And nice to cover an AO without the need of a machete. The PAX does enjoy a trimmed AO to play with, maybe except Saab who prefers the 70s style he grew up with.

The upper field was plent bright but just dark enough to keep form police at bay. The 50 Pull-ups to start woke the pax up and made for fun as some taller pax had to improvise on the playsets.

The 3rd Prez Parking lot offers a well lit space to play with. The Hoedown AO continues to expand. Abut half the pax ran in to the AO and Marv is dreaming of the day he can resume that tradition.

Announcements – Puppy pile and optional 2nd hour of Dogpile this Saturday.

  • Form Police 2.0

Nineteen came out to The Creek for the final day of Tuckahoe Takeover. 10 men and 9 2.0s made for a fun beatdown, start with run around church.

COP – SSH, Don Qs, Flutterkicks, Merkins, Scorpion Kicks, then tell Pax Form Friday required all pax to call out bad form. Anyone calls out bad form all pax run to end of parking lot and back.

Head to Benches for Donkey Kicks and run 3 rounds. Plank up, bad form called.

Head to curb for Bear Crawls and 15 Merkins, Lunges & Jump Squats  (good shooting form), lights go out so mosey to light at entrance for Pan-Pax Burpees then some mary. Mosey back to benches for AMRAP Dips, 2 sets. Back to the front for slow count Merkins and some more Mary.

NMS – The 2.0s got into the Bad Form Police theme quickly. They seemed to really enjoy the ability to throw things off, we must have ran 5 times per their bad firm calls. YHC really enjoyed it and watching the 9 2.0s, including 3 FNGs, was beyond cool.

Emoji brought a 2.0 not his own, not sure if that is normal.  Good to meet some Daville pax like Tea Party and Pit Bull.

Spit was not kidding that the lights go out at 5:50. YHC was not prepared for it to be that dark.

  • Which is worse?

Six strong posted to Circus Maximus to answer the proverbial question:  Which is worse- Posting to a Kettlebell workout with a 10 lb Purple Kettlebell or no Kettlebell at all?

Pre- 5:30 loaners were provided (thanks White Deer) and we got started:

COP – Slaughter starter- 10 Burpees, Don Qs, Flutterkicks, Helicopters, Scorpion Kicks. Grab bells for laps around median stopping for:

KB Swings, Around the world Squats, Halos, Pullovers, Burpees, and Boat-Canoe. 3 Laps through and then Mary to finish – American Hammers and Alabama Softball Players.

COT and Atilla took us out.

NMS – Atilla shared with us the bad news about EF Hutton F-I-L. The Minors are definitely in our prayers this morning.

Good to have Forceps out from Raleigh/South Wake. He was unaware of CM being a Kettlebell workout and had never done one before. Looks like he enjoyed it. I’ll leave it unspoken who the other PAX was who posted with the 10 Lb Purple Kettlebell.

To YHC Alabama Softball Players will always be funny, no other Qs break those out. Also apparently someone in the Construction business has it out for Upchuck, wonder if we know of anyone who fits that description…

Announcements – Convergence Saturday, see link for Food sign up:

  • Lucky Horseshoe + Kettlebells = Suck

Nine strong came out to Manndate to find out how could a Kettlebell workout handle the Lucky Horseshoe. After a quick COP and description of the KB alterations we got going:

Lap was from front of school to back by the bus and return. Start with 20 Merkins, then add 20 of following exercises: KB Copperhead Quats, KB Swings, American Hammers w/KB, Lawnmower Rows. After 5 laps drop merkins and down to last exercise, then victory lap.

Finish with Boat-Canoe, Figure 8s, and Halos.

NMS- YHC first trip out to Manndate and the Pax brought it. Most knew what was in store although it was everyone’s first time experiencing the glory of the Lucky Horseshoe. The PAX took right to the LH.

Alterations were made to the traditional 5 LH exercises. The KB squats, Swings, and especially American Hammers were tough.

Spit set the pace and finished with several minutes to spare. Rounders and Helix were not far behind. Wheelie and YHC finished up right at the called time. Some PAX were slowed down with their larger bell sizes while others tossed around their sub-30 lb bells.

COT and Spit took is out.

Announcements – Convergence this Saturday, and sign up for food afterwards on PreBlast. No sign up, no food for you. Prayers for EF Hutton and his family. HR HDHH tonight at 5:30, see preblast.

  • The shortest distance to the track is around the school

    1. Fourteen Fiesty men came out to Daville for Theme Tuesday of TT week. The air was humid but the grass strangely free of dew for:

COP- Invisible Jump Rope, Merkins, DQs, Flutterkicks, Helicopters, 50 SSH (for Carpenter)

4 Hoops/4 Corners – 5 Merkins at first Hoop, then increase by 5 up to 4th basket. 2nd round do WWII situps.  Mosey back around school and to middle refuel Depot track for Nascar Laps- 2 pax run loop while PAX does: Bear Crawl, Lunges, & Crab Walk. Once 2 men return switch out exercise and another 2 run.

Head to front of school for Abacus Tribute: Windshield Wipers, American Hammers, Heels 2 Heaven, Freddy Mercurys, LBCS

Head to flag for Burpee Escalator – EMOM burpees 8 up to 12 per minute. Then finish with Guantanamo.

Back to Flag, Phonics took us out.

NMS – Good to see so many PAX dressed up this morning. Working out in khaki shorts and dress socks can be fun. YHC chose a different take on theme by relating to his Daville pax. Hence the Carpenter, Abacus, and Nascar portions. YHC wanted to try that track loop last time. Plus Tuckahoe residents are free from HOAs so each Q can be free to vary their theme.

Circle K made it clear that the mosey to the Nascar loop was the long way around from our COP in the back. Maybe we could have moseyed straight over, blame the Q for not knowing the AO very  well.

Emoji managed to throw YHC off his cadence in the COP with his random numbers. The Burpee Escalator and Guantanamo were both hits as they made their debut at Daville. Lab Rat came out for the COT and to take in the sights, hope you are better soon.

Announcements – Convergence this Saturday. Sign up for food via Hardywood’s Pre-blast. HDHH tomorrow night, see pre-blast as well.

  • Feels like the BRR again

Three pax took to the trails on another beautiful morning. 65 degrees and sunny. We did:

Northbank to Belle Isle to Buttermilk. Gomer Pyle added the Potterfield bridge.

NMS- Strong pace this morning, did the loop in 75 min give or take, no surprise as all 3 pax are West Enders. YHC had BRR flashbacks of chasing Gomer Pyle as he set the pace, hence the BB title. YHC got to chat with Best Shot as well. Sounds like he is in for the Bel Monte.

Unusual to be at trail run with no Lab Rat or TYA as they were finishing up their last hour of the Powhatan race. Sounds like all 3 of them crushed it, as if there was any doubt.

  • The Q almost goes down, 10 seconds in

A sweaty seven started the weekend out at Gridiron as Day 1 of Tuckahoe Takeover went out west to Short Pump.  65 degrees and sunny with no football, we had the AO to ourselves and took advantage:

COP – SSH, Merkins, Don Qs, Flutterkicks, Helicopters, Invisible Jump Ropes (switch to imaginary half-way through) then mosey to far lane for Curb Crawls.  Up to 7. Run to field in front of school, Inchworm half way across field, then head to front of school for 3 sets of: Donkey Kicks & run circle.  Back to field for few minutes of Mary.

Head to covered area down the back: Totem Pole run with PAX holding 6 inches while last man does 3 Heels 2 Heaven.  Head down to basketball court while Cricket players start warming up.  Merkin ladder, 5 merkins at each hook, 5 up to 20.  2 round though.  Then 3 sets of 6 Pull Ups.

Head up to shaded field for Burpee Escalator- 8 Burpees 1 min, keep going up 4 minutes up to 11 Burpees, head back to flag and Atilla took us out.

NMS – YHC started the PAX off on the initial mosey and almost pulled a VIral, as YHC was starting to plan out the next few exercises with the dreaded 7 man PAX number, ran straight into the footfall field rope.  White Deer must not have been awake yet as he had little to say, very unusual for him.

Good to have Nightcrawler show up on time right as we got started and nice to have Alpo make the drive down from Fredericksburg again.  When YHC called for Curb Crawls the PAX looked confused, apparently those do not happen much out at Gridiron.  Jville pushed the pax today, out in front on everything.

Mumblechatter was very appropriate for Tuckahoe, ranging from topics of mortgage bankers to lawyer referrals, even without Earthworms acerbic banter.

Announcements – Good luck to TYA, Hardywood, and Lab Rat tonight.  Convergence next week.
