  • Solo OG

Back to the original River Run route, finishing down Twin Team for a solid 5.0. See you next week.

  • OG

3 strong +1 moseyed into gloom, down the hill around the corner, up the hill, through the shrubs, down the big hill around the loop and back for a 5 mile run. Of course Annie led every step of the way with Honeymoon & POG close in tow.

  • The Trend continues

    The Thang

Run around the back of Hanover High School, front of Oak Knoll Middle School, right on Old Landsdown Rd, right on Fort Meyers Rd, run until it ends, turn around run back, another right on Old Landsdown, left on Patrick Henry Blvd, reverse at 301 all the way to the end of Patrick Henry and back to the flag for a nice 4.7 miles.

YHC has had some challenges lately with getting lost on runs. Today was going to be different. The weather was great, legs were tired and going to an AO for the first time with new men is always a boost. Well, if there was a PAX at the AO this would have all been true. Leaving the homestead at 0430 for the 50 minutes trip to Tomato Run, YHC goes to the www.F3RVA.com site, clicks the link and follows Google Maps to what YHC believed to be the AO. YHC did notice the high school said Hanover High. That’s ok, I double check Google Maps and it shows I’m 350 feet from the location. Not being familiar with the schools from the suburbs this close to Washington DC YHC assumes Atlee & Hanover are same and searches for other members of the PAX, but to no avail.

Update: It looks like there may have been some sort of senior prank between Atlee & Hanover. It looks like YHC was the beneficiary and will have to catch the real Tomato Run another day!

It was great to have Offshore and Scrum post at Timberwolf.   YHC had not planned to Q this morning but being the lone local wanted to give our guest a proper SOJ experience.  YHC was very thankful when McRib came around the corner to even the numbers.

In respect of the D-Day Anniversary McRib Crushed the 75+ burpees during the Touch a Bus exercise.  Special thanks to Offshore for commenting on what another AO may be doing, so SOJ style we added a couple more burpees to cover us until 2022.

Speaking of Offshore, he dominated Light Pole Alley.  YHC through a couple of hurdles in to slow him down but to no avail.  Also, Star Jacks appear effortless to this guy!

Big Shout out to Scrum for crossing the creek.  The 38 minute drive at 0450 deserves respect.  Now if YHC how could only understand the M’ville counting cadence.

    Great work men!

Knowing the plan to run the streets around the AO YHC was surprised/concerned to see Bullseye had launched early for extra credit.  Being the stud Bullseye is he had no issue adding extra miles to his morning.

Doozy, Tobit & Mouse Trap led the pax between corners.  They were so fast on the downhill portion YHC thought we lost them.  Never fear though, they reappeared from behind at corner 2.

DK and Bullseye had a nice conversation about the YMCA and cool stuff that’s going on with the kids.  YHC listened, couldn’t breathe, and was very thankful one child just graduated college and 1 is halfway through.  Lookout guys, time flies!

Nancy Lopez & Wilson did not share the same enthusiasm about the run as Tobit & Doozy.  I can certainly appreciate that, but will add Nancy took off from corner 3 like he was shot out of a cannon and led the pax for quite a while and finished strong.  Wilson says he’s not a “runner” but can kick into any gear necessary and closed out the run in super strong fashion.  I think I heard him say “I can’t wait to do the BRR again”?  Maybe not though.

Anyhow, strong closeout speed from Wilson & DK at the end was impressive.

If anyone has a good story on how Tobit became Tobit please let him know.  The more grandiose the story the better!

    Great work men!

Bullseye was on fire today, disappeared out of sight on the way up the hill and caught YHC with a mile to go on the way back. Gumbo did as Gumbo does and powered through, Rosie effortlessly jogs by with easy chatter at the end of 5.19 and Doozy brought up the 6 with the support of Bullseye. Did I mention he was on fire! Strong running today men, YHC was out of gas but you guys are Rockstars!

Great fun this morning, the PAX was “playing it cool”!

The Millennial was a first for YHC.  100 reps of an exercise, 100M jog, 10 times was going to be a challenge, I wasn’t sure we would be able to finish.  I was WRONG!  The PAX crushed it.

    Lesson’s learned:

Not only does Mr. Roper have freakish SSH skills he is also now registered as the world’s fastest Racoon Crawler.

Orange Crush has mad stretching skills, especially when YHC prematurely ends the beatdown.

Bullseye learned that sometimes it is helpful to wear long pants.

    Rosie was well, Rosie….

    Great work men!

Today was the 4th anniversary of the Source of Truth.  YHC had the privilege of leading the workout then and again today.  Ironically both beatdowns occurred on snowy mornings.  Looking back at the SOT launch most of the Pax are still regulars.  Shout out to Bleeder, Wedding Singer, THE Yankee Aggressor & Wilson.

Admittedly, YHC was a little nervous to Q my first bootcamp in 2 years.   A new but experienced cast of characters made the Q enjoyable and the Pax pushes the tempo beyond anything I could have expected 4 years ago.

Doozy was flying, Gumbo & Kubota possess amazing defensive slid step speed, Bullseye was his typical beastly self and the fair weathered Mr. Roper showed on an icy morning and provided the most creative answers to the Q’s question for the day.  He may have wanted a few extra burpees and we all got them.

    Great work men, enjoyed it!

    Peace

  • Captain Crunch

Two strong shuffled into the river run winter wonderland, a stark contrast to YHC abode or Bullseye’s retreat 2 miles east.

The mosey goes something like this…

Carefully mosey onto James River Rd, Right on Riverton Ridge, Left on Welby, Right on Sherfield, Left on Ashwell around the big loop, right on Edmonton and back to base.

Bullseye led the way and continually reminded YHC that running on the white stuff is a lot safer than trying to run anywhere else.  It was nice to find out the Bullseye and YHC have quite a few mutual friends, I guess that happens when you live in the same area long enough.

    Good times!

  • Partner Run – A day late…or two

2 strong waited in the car witnessing torrential downpours and sharp lightning strikes.  As 5:30 approaches we step out of the cars, the rain stops and YHC gives the command and we’re off.

Loop around the school, right on Riverton Ridge, right on Welby, left on Edmonton, left on Ashwell down and around the long loop and back for a solid 4 miles.

Fun run with EF Hutton as he knocks another AO off of his summer tour.  Being the kind gentleman that Hutton is he offered to run with YHC.  YHC, never being the fastest member of the PAX sets the mission to run fast enough that he can’t walk beside me, mission accomplished…for the most part.  Only saw one wild animal and chatted about a lot of good stuff along the way.  Fun run, great way to kick off a week!

    Peace
