  • Are you feeling Lucky?

5 brave souls were feeling Lucky and YHC was feeling nostalgic this morning in the TwinTeam gloom. It was high time for a Lucky Horseshoe. Mosey to the Swamp track for a quick stretch and then set the timer for 33 minutes and the PAX finishes as much as they can YvY style of the following:

    1. Lap and 20 merkins
    2. Lap and 20 merkins, 20 storm squats (Imperial walker with 2 squats = 1)
    3. Lap and 20 merkins, 20 storm squats, 20 scorpion dry docks (switch scorpion legs after 10)
    4. Lap and 20 merkins, 20 storm squats, 20 scorpion dry docks, 20 WWII situps
    5. Lap and 20 merkins, 20 storm squats, 20 scorpion dry docks, 20 WWII situps, 20 lunges (10 each leg)
    6. Lap and 20 storm squats, 20 scorpion dry docks, 20 WWII situps, 20 lunges (10 each leg)
    7. Lap and 20 scorpion dry docks, 20 WWII situps, 20 lunges (10 each leg)
    8. Lap and 20 WWII situps, 20 lunges (10 each leg)
    9. Lap and 20 lunges (10 each leg)
    10. Victory Lap

Rosie crushed it. Even got an extra Victory Lap. Tobit completed it as well. Draper and YHC completed 9 rounds and just missed out on the Victory Lap. Doublemint checked out the Facilities mid-round and got right back to it. Sweat rolled even in the cool gloom. Great morning.

Not a lot of mumblechatter today. Just hard work. Prayers for Doublemint’s mother and Rosie’s father-in-law.

School of Rock this Saturday and Convergence Monday.

  • Flat and Fast

7 runners launched from Midlo middle, fought the traffic and logged some miles. Doozy shot out of the cannon and by the time he turned back the group had turned off but he found Greenbow and they made their way back. Bullseye lurked behind the group and had a soft re-entry after some time away.

Heist, Airwolf, Honeymoon and YHC slayed 5.16 miles through Charter Colony and Otterdale and back along Westfield with Heist and Airwolf pushing the pace.

Great job gents! No More Gumbo For You!

  • That Old Dirt Road to Draper’s House

6 runners broke free from the fartsack and from the allure of 8-counts with DTH to pound some miles in preparation for this weekend’s CSAUP. We reversed the dirt road, said hi to Draper’s casa and sweat like crazy. And, we almost lost Doozy to the trance of a gazelle clipping along at a sub-9 pace, but we were able to break him free and keep him on course. Great job men.

    No More Gumbo For You!

  • Lucky #7

6 men broke free extra early from the fartsack to post at First Watch for the second helping of a Gumbo double-header and here is how it was served:

Mosey two laps around the parking lot and then circle up for COP with various exercises. Despite LSU’s impressive record of 68,888 jello shots consumed at the CWS, we did not do 68,888 of any exercise.

Grab 2 coupons and head over to the parking lot behind the church for:

7 of Diamonds (4 corners) – in honor of Tigers 7th College Baseball National Championship (2nd most all time)

    • Round 1 – 7 Burpees at each corner
    • Round 2 – 14 swquats
    • Round 3 – 21 2-ct mountain climbers
    • Round 4 – 28 2-ct flutter kicks
    • Round 5 – 21 SSHs
    • Round 6 – 14 merkins
    • Round 7 – 7 WWIIs

Triple Check – PAX 1 runs to dumpster building does 5 DKs and runs back, PAX 2 does box cutters, PAX 3 overhead press with the coupon.

Make our way back to the cars.

    Numbers, Names, COT

Announcements – Convergence Tuesday 7/4 at 0700 at Dogpile

Prayers – Ron Whitley (affectionately knows as Uncle Ron in my house) battling skin cancer got some bad news yesterday. Take skin care seriously men – put on sunscreen, see a dermatologist regularly. It is no joke!

Have a great day men and GEAUX TIGERS!

  • Strolling with the boys

4 runners out for OTB on a great Sunday morning. We got 6.5 in thanks to Draper’s route skills. Aisle 5 and Wilson walked and solved all the problems of the world. Can’t ask for a better start to the day.

  • Do you best Tommy Tanks impression

14 dirtbags showed up to Huguenot Little League to see if the field were playable. They were, so this is what transpired:

2 foul pole to foul pole runs to loosen up, then COP with various exercises meant to keep our hands dry and then it was time for the main show.

3 swings (not pitches). Make them count. Anything other than a fair ball over the fence is an out. Given the numbers, we had a second round with 2 swings. We had 6 HRs in total in the first round and 4 in the second.

This year’s winner (with 2 HRs in each round) was NTB – a newcomer taking the title from YHC. Honeymoon, Warby, McRib and Rosie each launched HRs in round 1 and McRib and Rosie double-dipped with a HR each in round 2.

YHC took the bagel along with everyone else, although I think I may have won the Exit Velo competition with my last hit. Turns out you need both Exit Velo and Launch Angle for a HR, right NTB?

Warby and Snuff put on stellar defensive shows. Nothing like EF Hutton’s HR robbery of last year, but good enough to get on YHC’s list for the F3 RVA Softball team should there ever be one.

Great fun. Well done guys. I know the rain kept people away, so YHC will look for a late July date to run this back! I’m waiting for NTB to let me know when he is out of town. Maybe McRib and Rosie too!

Welcome to Bow Tie (McRib’s 2.0). We stuck with the food theme for the family but we missed the obvious name – Riblet. Thanks for coming out Bow Tie.

No announcements – we almost forgot to circle up. YHC was too depressed.

Until next time, No More Gumbo For You.

  • Stronger Together!

Two big nasties who surely traded some helmet paint on the football field with each other back in high school today traded stories and struggles and triumphs over a smooth 6-mile run. Excellent morning. Thanks Armstrong. It was great talking and getting to know you and starting off this wonderful day with a good sweat.

Our group is amazing and motivating. Generally the more the merrier, but YHC loves a good one on one run with another PAX member to get a little deeper. We all have shit going on – good shit and bad shit. It all easier and better to deal with together.

I was just at West Point picking up my 2.0 from a summer “test run” one week camp. They marched all 500 of the candidates into the auditorium and the cadet captain said “We are…” and the candidates responded loudly and in unison – “STRONGER TOGETHER”. Goose bumps man. Freaking chub like Swirly gets during a convergence Q. What a great motto and reminder. We are stronger together! Thank you all. Have a great Father’s Day.

  • A FirstWatch Block Party

10 partygoers, including 2 early bird yogis, showed up for a block party – gloom style. This is how we rolled…

Mosey around the parking lot in case there were any LIFOs – there were none. Circle up by the vehicles for COP, including DQs, Helicopters, SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Shoulder Taps, Toe Taps (a crowd pleaser), Merkins, LBCs and APDs.

Grab the party favors (blocks) and cross River Road at your peril – carry blocks to the church parking lot and circle up for several rounds of block exercises each followed by a mosey around the parking lot or a lunge walk to the steps and back. Exercises included block burpees, squats, curls, shoulder presses, bench presses, WWIIs (without the block), overhead shoulder work on the curb, step-ups and more. Some plank-o-rama and mountain climbers and other fun while we wait for the SIX and catch our breath in between reps.

Carry blocks back across River Road and load them in Kubota’s truck.

    Four Corners – 10 merkins; 10 merkins + 20 single count mountain climbers; 10 merkins + 20 MCs + 30 squats; and 10 merkins + 20 MCs + 30 squats + 40 SSHs and back to the original COP Circle.

4 minutes of Mary, COT, numbers, names and YHC took us out.

Great, cool morning and some good block work accomplished. Thanks to Kubota for bringing the blocks. Splinter’s account will be charged for breaking his block – inflation is a bitch. Not a ton of mumblechatter, but YHC lost the group in COP with the toe taps and then subsequently when one PAX member (YHC isn’t exactly sure who) cleared the deck and I’m pretty sure left skid marks in the parking lot. We regrouped however and put in some good work. Thanks for letting me lead.

Also great to catch up with WOJ over coffee!

Announcement – Memorial Day Convergence 0700 at Tredegar – bring your Shovel Flag and a Friend.

  • Tour De Twin Team with your Host, Gumbo

11 intrepid dwellers of the GLOOM, including 1 FNG and 1 Downrange Double RESPECTer posted in the beautiful Gloom of BWES this morning. Even Don Draper and Boberry donned gloves for a bootcamp because YHC promised some miles. As the clock struck 0530, the tour began and off to the namesake we go…

Mosey across Robious to the base of Twin Team and circle up for the disclaimer and COP, including DQs performed at the impeccable speed.

We were all limbered up so time to climb – mosey up Twin Team to the top stopping at each drive way (and any offset mailboxes) for 10 merkins each. YHC thought that would lessen the pain of the climb but it only added to it…oh well, what doesn’t kill you…

Collected the SIX at the top and moseyed down and continued down the pathway to the back entrance to JRHS and over to the “murph” area for a triple check including pull-ups, squats and a choose-your-own-timer of run a lap OR 20 WWIIs. The Tour can’t be late, so an audible was called and the triple check was truncated…

Mosey down past the SWAMP and stop for a quick couple minutes of rapid fire Mary, then over to the outdoor basketball courts for some Donkey Kicks on the wall.

BBTVF via the parking lot and across BWES field. 30 seconds left so 2 Burpees to get your money’s worth.

COT, Numbers, Names and YHC prayed us out.

    NMS:

Great to have 4 folks who have never been to TT before, including an FNG (Chubbs bro) and a down-ranger from St. Charles Missouri (THE CHUCK). Other than the climb up TT, not a ball-buster today but we kept moving and we got to show off most of the AO. Gumbo will provide another 3.3 mile tour that was planned another time soon.

Happy Hour SOJ tonight at Diamond Billiards

SOJ Takeover coming soon to AOs all over

May 21 is a family BBQ at BWES – see OC for more details

Summer Tour details and conditions are on Slack – see HoneyDo if you got questions

A pleasure as always to lead. No More Gumbo For You!

  • Miles, Coffee and Fellowship – just another great Sunday morning

6 runners, plus 1 four-legged leader, and 3 walkers maneuvered the mean streets of Midlothian while sharing stories and getting a sweat going. Great morning for a run! Thanks for showing up men.
