9 Aspiring Chalk Artists rose from the warmth to ascend on Tuckahoe Elementary School and the cozy sunny and 70 degree conditions that it provided. According to Upchucks’ 1st grade teacher, this is what as rumored to have occured.

5.30 struck with a short mosey around the teachers bus loop with Warmarama in the adjacent parking area. Motion encouraged warmarama included moving Russian Soldiers, Hillbillies, Arm Circles and Deadman Hang. All seems toasty, lets begin.

    THE THANG:

7 of Diamonds: Mosey to the basketball courts for 4 corners variance. 7 rounds of exercises at each corner. All multiples of 7. Exercises included: 7 Burpees at each corner; 7 WWII’s (YHC atoned for his error by ordering additional 20 reps at the end); 21 Merkins; 28 Jump Squats; 21 Carolina Dry Docks; 14 American Hammers (2 count); 7 Lt. Dans. Mumble Chatter along the way included Snuff imitation of Monty Python’s Holy Grail, Bodos and Wojo recieved chalk tattoos, among other topics.

Short Mosey to the field for Triple Check Weave. 1 person on the benches doing dips, 1 person on the monkey bars doing hanging V Ups, timer in between starts with Murder Gorillas. After 1 round, timer quickly switched to a mosey. 5 rounds of each. More time on the clock

Mosey to the asphalt hill for Merkin Clockwork: 1 at 1:00, 2 at 2:00 (rotating your position around the clock face)……11 at 11:00, 12 at 12:00.

Finish up with some stretching. Names, Numbers, Announcements, YHC took us out.

    NMS: Prayers for Upchucks MIL

Various chalk designs were found on the basketball court especially during WWII’s. Pink chalk shows up well on a black canvas. Wojo returned from a weekend adventure searching for the perfect blend in Kentucky. Murder Gorillas are tough and not recommended at the end of the workout. Upchuck made a friend (not a surprise) with an arriving teacher to avoid finishing clockwork. Typical Hoedown morning. Thank you gents for giving me the opportunity to lead. Great start to the week. SYITG.

  • Slippery When Wet

9 Apollo Anton Ohno wannabees awoke this morning dressed for a spelunking adventure along Robious Road. Here is what was rumored to have occurred according to the Greenfield Elementary lunch ladies arriving for the early shift.

Warmarama: Mosey thru the Basketball court ice rink back over to the safe gravel for the following as we awaited for Fresh Prince to arrive in his typical fashion (hot). Exercises included SSH, DQ’s (as requested by Bone Thugs), Dead Man Hang, Imperial Walkers, Russian Soldiers, Arm Circles. Prince arrives, lets mosey.

COP 1: Mosey across Robious into Greenfield Subdivision. Lindsay along Greenfield Road. Beginning at Woodmont, 30 Carolina Drydocks, 10 Jump Squats. Mosey to next intersection – 25/15, next intersection – 20/20…….ending up at the soccer field parking lot at Greenfield Elementary.

COP 2: Parking Space InchWorms. Inchworms along the parking spaces. At each line perform a merkin. AG for the 6. Return trip was Broad Jumps with Lt. Dan’s at each line.

COP 5: Triple Check #2: Back across to Huguenot Park for a triple check including Pole Smokers, Squats with Timer running to the playground and back. 2 rounds completed due to time, BTTF

Numbers, Names, Announcements. YHC took us out.

NMS: With the monsoon impeding the ability for field work over the last few weeks, YHC sent out notice that lights would be recommended this morning for an off campus adventure. To our surprise, ice skates would have been preferred as plenty of black ice was discovered thru out the journey. Snuff came fully prepared for his Olympic speed skating trials with his hooded under armor top. Luckily no injuries along the way. Greenfield Elementary offered a variance to the typical parking lot. Possible future use when daylight is available. Prayers to Fresh Prince and his family during the recent passing of his M’s grandfather. Thank you gentlemen for the opportunity to lead. Always a pleasure to be with you guys.

  • Red Pill Forge Style

6 Studly Warriors, 1 Dog and 3/4 of the stud that resembled Doublemint fought back the temptations of sleeping the morning away and arrived to fine the crisp embrace of the Forge. Temps in the teens but Huguenot High School was sunny and mid 70’s. 5.30 hit with Snuff and Chaplin coming in hot and off the PAX traveled.

Short Mosey to the 2nd parking lot for warmarama including SSH’s, DQ’s, Russian Soldiers, Collard Pickers, Dead Man Hang. Snuff was given the choice of the easy or hard way. Speaking for the PAX, Snuff decided the infamous red pill. Off we go…

Short Mosey to the Bus Loop for the Pill Workout (future name TBD). 10 exercises with 20 reps each, ladder style with a lap around the bus loop after each round. Ex: 20 Merkins, run lap; 20 Merkins, 20 Imperial Squat Walkers, run lap; 20 Merkins, 20 Imperial Squat Walkers, 20 WWII’s, run lap……..you get the idea. Total count of exercises completed: 200 Merkins, 180 Imperial Squat Walkers, 160 WWII’s, 140 Carolina Dry Docks, 120 Dips, 100 2 count American Hammers, 80 Curls for the Girls, 60 Block Squat Thrusters, 40 V Ups, 20 Burpees. Time called at completion.

BTTF for Names, Numbers, Announcements, YHC took us out

NMS: Good turnout the morning at the Forge. Good to see Doublemint, or what is left of him, back out in the cold. Nothing eases your way back into things like this EF Hutton inspired workout. T-claps to Hardywood and Doozy for pushing each other for a record finish. Both started the climb back down the ladder before time was called. PAX completed the workout right as time was called, great job fellas. Plenty of mumble chatter this morning as it is always good to have the regulars out. DTH threatened to fartsack, blaming his recent vaccine treatment but it seems his M would have none of that. Chap and Snuff continue to grind it out with good chatter along the way.

Always great to start the day with you boys. SYITG

  • Not Far Off Campus

8 husky young studs avoided the warmth and comfort of the Fart Sack to answer the calling of Richmond’s earliest AO. Flurries were in the forecast but sunny and 70 were the conditions in Tuckahoe. According to the early morning train conductor, this is what was rumored to occur.

Mosey to the Church Parking Lot for Warmarama consisting of numerous SSH’s, Helis, DQ’s, Collard Pickers, WWII’s, LBC’s and possibly others that will go unnamed.

COP 1: Mosey back onto Ridge for a Lindsay down to the River. After a brief pause to remember the exercises, YHC instructed 30 WWII’s & 10 Squats. Continuing down Ridge stopping at each cross street for the next set of exercises. After the initial set, YHC audibled to Carolina Dry Docks in order to save the PAX seductive tramp stamps.

COP 2: Triple Check at Westham Station: American Hammers, Monkey Humpers while timer runs to Bridge Road and back. Audible after 1st group of runners to Last No Parking Sign. Audible after 2nd group of runners to 3rd No Parking Sign. 1st Group of Runners chose to keep the longer distance. Handshake decided he wanted to continue running. Chaos all around.

COP 3: Mosey back up to Overlook Road and Partner Up: Runner goes to cul de sac and back while partner performs Polar Bears. Switch and continue. 1/2 way up stop and begin decent back down to Ridge with lunges replacing Polar Bears.

    2 minutes left, sprint BTTF

Numbers, Names, Announcements, YHC took us out

NMS: Run heavy Q’s are not typically a favorite of YHC. But it had been a while since the 1st Watch regulars have been down to the river. A few stumbles remembering exercises and audibles due to time restrictions being called but PAX seemed open to the change. Plenty of Mumble Chatter throughout lobbying various PAX to take the open DogPile Q on Saturday. Pleasure leading you guys this morning. First Watch continues to be the most fun you can have at 5 am on a Wednesday.

HDHH tonight at Kindred Spirits. Join Doozy and his M for merriment.

  • How to avoid wet pavement – Potato Style

5 Socially Distant Studs rose from the Fart Sack to find some seldom seen occurrences, a open Q at No Toll and a Mr. Roper appearance. 5.30 hit without a lead to start so PAX nominated Roper to start us off for the ensuing Toasty Potato.

Mosey to the parking lot for a Warmarama consisting of SSH (20), DQ’s (10), Russian Soldiers (10), Carolina Dry Docks (10), Helicopters (10), Merkins (20), WWII’s (20). Some exercises in cadence, others not so much. Roper, running out of ideas, tossed the steaming tuber to Doner Kebab

DK continued to sample the wet pavement, mosey to the parking lot edge for a train of pole smokers. 10 pole smokers then leapfrogs neighboring PAX holding 6″ or performing Rosalitas, dealers choice. 1 round complete, short mosey for curb crawls with merkin breaks. 3 rounds of 10 steps/10 merkins got the shoulders nice and hot. Herbacious Perinneal was passed to Boberry.

Mosey to the Tennis Courts for 11’s consisting of generously spaced merkins and copperhead squats with a sprint across both tennis courts in between. Feeling the burn, Boberry led a respectable 4 corner routine with 40 reps at each turn. Exercises included Plank Jacks, Squats, LBC’s and SSH’s. Starchy goodness was passed onto Last Call.

Mosey over to the often neglected restrooms for a quintuple check. 3 rounds of 5 exercises rotating by the timer. Exercises included bench dips, squats, people’s chair, balls to the wall with the timer running to the playground entrance and back. Everyone goes 3 rounds. Times up, BTTF.

Names, numbers, announcements – Doozy took us home.

NMS: It seems the Covid circle has gotten a bit snug as of late, opening up the Q sheet at No Toll and reducing the usually strong numbers at No Toll to allow more socially distant activities. Roper emerged from his car after his cross country vehicle delivery, requesting the Q to avoid ground activities so not to soak the bum. PAX agreed the best way to avoid such activities, is to take the Q. Roper was a bit reluctant but got the potato started by quickly going to ground on the warmup. Counting was a bit of an issue while continuing various conversations, some in cadence, others, not so much.

All exercises were spaced accordingly and much appreciated by the PAX. With time winding down, YHC happily agreed to post the backblast to avoid Doozy’s Mankillers

Thoughts and prayers are with those brothers and thier families currently in quarantine. Hoping for minimal effects and a quick recovery. Miss seeing the numbers but smaller groups allow time for comradery and good mumble chatter.

Announcements: Posey (Doozy’s 2.0) is using the art of probabilities to raise funds for a trip to Cooperstown. Doozy’s Casino can provide squares a plenty for your gambling needs during the upcoming Super Bowl. Doozy is also organizing a Dry January Release Party on February 1st at Kindred Spirit for those looking to break the personal shackles of alcohol free start to 2021.

  • Looked Easier on You Tube

9 Studly Men started the week by rising to the challenge YHC had laid out. Rain was in the forecast but the conditions were a prime sunny and 70. According to the Tuckahoe Elementary security, here is what was rumored to occur.

5.30 rings and we are off. Quick circle around the loop to collect any late arrivals and mosey to the Teachers Lot for warmarama of the following: SSH’s, Helis, DQ’s, Dead Man Hang, Merkins (regular and 1 leg). All is warm and bright, lets go.

Mosey to the bottom of Lindsay Ct for a complex Dora/Triple Check, whatever it is called. Partner up. Partner 1 – runs to the 1st lit light pole and back while Partner 2 does Lt. Dan, Squats and Carolina Dry Docks. Everyone does 3 sets of each exercise AMRAP. Al Gore for the 6.

Catch me if you Can. Partner 1 – burpee then sprint to catch Partner 2 who is Bernie Sanders up Lindsay Court. Switch and continue to the top. Originally Partner 2 was going to Al Gore but that would not have gotten us very far.

Mosey to the monkey bars for some core work with another Triple Check/Dora – whatever it is called. Partner 1 does 20 hanging V’s (keeping legs straight) from the monkey bars while partner 2 does dips until switch. 3 sets each. 2nd round included 20 hanging knee raises to the one side then switch with your partner who is doing incline merkins. 2nd set was 20 hanging knee raises to the other site for symmetry. Do 2 sets on each side (4 sets total). AG for 6.

Mosey to covered walk way for 3 sets of 10 boxing cockroaches with partner. Times up, BTTF.

Numbers, Names, Announcements, YHC took us out.

Announcements: Rosies’s 12 days of Christmas – No Toll on Tuesday; HDHH – Wednesday at Hardywood West Creek.

NMS: YHC wanted to try the hanging ab work since watching fitness model easily do this on you tube last week. The wet monkey bars made it a bit difficult for grip. Will bring it back out on a dryer day. The grunting of the PAX during the boxing cockroaches alerted a worker of the school to investigate what was happening at 6.10 in the morning. Penny for his thoughts. Appreciation to PAX for patience on the numerous modifications to todays exercises. Always good way to start the week.

  • Frozen Block Party of 4

4 Sharp Dressed Men and 1 furry companion emerged from the warmth to battle the frozen conditions of The Forge to make themselves better men. The cold was bitter but the comradery and conversation was hot. This is how things went down

Party of 3 (and Cooper) took the slow Mosey around the bus loop looking for any late arrivals and to warm the bones ending at the flag poles for Warmarama.

COP 1 included SSH’s, Helicopters, Deadman Hang, 1 legged merkins, Arm Circles. Limbs toasty, lets mosey

Mosey to the middle parking lot for Lindsay of Hand Release Merkins and WWII’s. Audible was called after 2nd round to Merkins after mumble chatter from PAX. YHC was happy to oblige. Fresh Prince joined in making a quartet. Al Gore for the 6.

Mosey down the stairs for AMRAP circle with blocks. 7 stations set up including chest press with block, squats with block, rows with block, shoulder press with block, peoples chair & dips. Timer was the lap around lower parking lot. 3 sets of each exercise with additional running as required.

PAX carried blocks back to the pile followed by a sprint BTTF.

Numbers, Names & Announcements. YHC took us out.

NMS: Cold morning the culprit in reduced numbers but the faithful arrived. HR Merkins are brutal after 10. DTH commented Merkin Challenge was over and YHC happily audibled to avoid a mutiny. Great block work and conversation during the AMRAP. Fresh Prince reminisced on IronPax Wheel of Despair Challenge. Snuff and YHC still recovering form Murder Bunnies. Appreciate the help in bringing the blocks back to the pile.

Not in the Holiday Spirit? Rosie’s 12 Days of Christmas at No Toll on Tuesday will put you in the Jingle Mood.

HDHH – Wednesday at Hardywood West Creek – Check Slack for details.

  • Stationary Rebellion – SOJ Style

8 Early Rising Sexy Men converged on the humid streets of First Watch to start the day with minimal running. YHC had been sucking wind that last few weeks with First Watch becoming a 2nd Spider Run AO. To avoid another tour of Westham, I grabbed the Q last week to minimize miles and promote stationary exercises with some light jogging.

5.30 rang and off we moseyed down passing bumpers for Burpees to front of the Church for THE THANG:

COP #1 included F3 waiver, DQ’s, Helis, Cherry Pickers, Arm Circles, Reverso, Freddies, LBC’s, Scorpion Kicks, Merkins.

COP #2 Parking Lot Beast: A Typical Beast is an up and back routine. This beast was a modification with a mixture of 4 corners and 2 additional stops along the way. 6 Exercises at 6 stops for 6 rounds. Routine included Hand Release Merkins, 2 count Mountain Climbers, WWII’s, 2 count American Hammers, Plank Jacks and the always popular Burpee.

COP #3 Mankillers: Following a quick rest to allow for some oversharing, mosey to the Main Church Entrance to circle up. Would not be an SOJ Q without bringing in a SOJ tradition of Mankillers. After a quick counting error, YHC got the ball rolling for 10 sets of SSH’s starting at 10 Full SSH, 10 3/4 SSH, 10 1/2 SSH, 10 1/4 SSH. Next up is 9, 8, 7 etc. Not much mumble chatter.

COP #4 Circle Work: With the calves burning, slow mosey back to original parking lot for some routine circle work. Coupons were brought out for some AMRAP work with 8 exercises. Timer was a jog around the parking lot. Rotate exercises upon runners return. Chest Press (w/ coupon), Curls (w/ coupon), Rows (w/coupon), Squats, WWII’s, American Hammers, Mountain Climbers or Lunges. 1 round with each exercise.

Stay in the Circle for a Merkin Ring of Fire. Variety of 10 merkins OYO in order while rest of the PAX planks.

Numbers, Names, Announcements. YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

    – Veterans Day is today. Thank you to Honeydo and all those Service Men and Women that help keep our country safe to allow us the ability to live of life of freedom.

    – Thanksgiving Miseducation by TYA at Mary Munford at 6 am Thanksgiving morning. See Slack for details.

    – Black Friday runathon following – see Slack for details.

Moleskin: Running is not a specialty of YHC so seeing the Q was open, was quickly grabbed to minimize future miles. Great Mumble Chatter this morning including some Honeydo oversharing, penisillin, and stories for “friends” getting busted watching Cinemax late night. Future generations have it so easy now with 24/7 internet. YHC always enjoys the challenge of Mankillers that Doozy started at SOJ. Glad to hear the PAX enjoyed this time burner.

Honor leading you boys today. Thank you for the good times and laughs along the way.

  • Looked Good on Paper

Sixteen Hardwood Studs arrived at the plush fields of No Toll this morning to see what YHC had in store for an epic beatdown for the ages. Fields being a bit waterlogged caused an audible in the plans. To the best of memory, this is how it all went down.

5.30 struck, slow mosey to the far end of the parking lot.

Warmarama – SSH’s, DQ’s, Dead Man Hang, Freddie Mercury, Heals to Heaven, Arm Circles, Reverso. Warm, Lets get started

    THANG 1: Hightower Workout

5 Exercises with 9 reps each. Burpee Style. Line up at the edge of the parking lot, sprint to the other end, perform said exercises & sprint back. Exercises include Burpees, Plank Jack Burpees, Hand Release Burpees (3 Hand Release Merkins for each Burpee), Jump Squat Burpees (3 Jump Squats for each Burpee), All in One Burpee (1 plank jack, 3 Hand Release Merkins, 3 Jump Squats for Each Burpee). AG for the 6

    THANG 2: Inchwork 11’s

Mosey over to the Drive Aisle for 11’s with WWII’s and Elevated Merkins on the Curbs. In between, Inchworms (Bearcrawls with a Merkin middle) and reverse lunges.

    THANG 3: New Market Sprints

Back to the parking lot to line up for 5 sets of all out sprints. Mosey back, New Market style

BTTF for Merkin Ring of Fire (9 Merkins each).

Numberama, Namarama, Announcements, YHC took us out

NMS: Hightower work out was performed in honor of fallen F3 brother and Myrtle Beach police officer Jacob (Hightower) Hancher. Killed in the line of duty last week.

5 and 9 were based on the Bible Verse Matthew 5:9 – Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they will be called children of God.

Mumble Chatter over the burpees until we got to the Inchworm 11’s which took the toll on the shoulders. As was said numerous times by Wilson, this routine looked good on paper but was brutal in execution.

NMMS: At 5.25, a single enthusiast (named Sparky by the PAX) sprinted by the awaiting PAX and was exercising on his own until he decided to join for the 2nd half of the workout. Hopefully will see him back in the future.

    Announcements:

Beer Mile (non F3 event) is Saturday – see slack for details

Shoe Drive ongoing throughout the month. Flange is collecting all his own shoes to give to infants and kids.

Shirt Orders are in. Doublemint has them.

Thank you all for the honor of working with you.

  • Burning the Clock

A lucky 7 beefcakes arose earlier than most to get their sweat on before the sun could peak above the trees. Perfect weather for an autumn smoker. As typical YHC promised a minimal running Q, this is it is rumored to have occurred.

5 am struck, lets mosey to Henrico’s darkest park. Warmorama included SSH’s, DQ’s, Helis, Arm Circles, Gumbo Style Freddie Mercuries and a Pax favorite – Scorpion Kicks. Warm, lets get started

Mosey to parking lot for a bit of 4 corners SOJ style (prostitute). 10 Lt. Dans (switched to lunges after round 2), 20 Bone Rubs, 30 Dancing Bears, 40 WWII’s.

Mosey to front of church stopping for a burpee check at each speed bump. A perfect number of Coupons were found for a TABATA workout. Circle up at your favorite cinderblock with everyone leading 4 sets of 20 second exercises AMRAP with a 10 second rest. Coupon included exercises were overhead dips, squats, curls for the girls, around the world, coupon run, chest press and the very popular American hammers.

Just enough time left to coupon carry BTTF to deposit coupon on the pile for future use.

Numberama, Namerama, Announcements – YHC took us out.

Announcements – Shoe Drive continues. Seems to be a bit of competition between Nanoregions. See your local rep to collect lightly used footwear. Prayers for Hightower, F3 brother from South Carolina that was seriously injured in the line of duty.

I may have missed other announcements so please see comments below.

Moleskin: YHC was hoping to get a 4 corner and Tabata workout in but the parking lot was a bit larger than planned. This led to the audible to lunges and elimination of decreased corners after WWII’s.

Tabata workout was a 1st for YHC but PAX came up with some great exercises and mumble chatter was excellent. Music is certainly recommended in the future. Thank you for indulging me in this effort. Luckily the coupons worked out perfectly.

Appreciate the regulars coming out and encouraging YHC out of the fartsac on a weekly basis as today was a glorious morning. Great chatter during and afterward, really shows why this is such a great group.
