  • Blue Moon Falling

10 buff beauties arose from a warm slumber to converge on Huguenot High School in anticipation for a beat down for the ages. After recovering from the pain of IPC over the past month, YHC provided what would be a glorious routine. Here is what went down as told by the 40’s styles scooter (without a muffler) that cruised around the AO at a blazing 5 mph.

COP 1: Mosey to the bus loop for warmorama that included SSH’s, DQ’s, Helicopters, Freddie Mecuries

COP 2: Mosey to the soccer field for a bit of 4 corners, lady of the night style: 10 WWII’s, 20 Heels to Heaven, 30 Dancing Bears (2 count), 40 Bone Rubs. Front Runners circled back to the 6.

COP 3: Mosey to the amphitheater for Elevens alternating Elevated Merkins at the top and Dips at the bottom.

COP 4: Catch Me if you Can: Partner up. Partner 1 performs 1 burpee than sprints to catch Partner 2 who Bernie Sanders. Once caught, switch and continue up to Forest Hill.

COP 5: Light Pole Run BTTF – Mosey BTTF stopping at every light pole alternating between 2 Lt. Dans and 2 burpees.

Still time on the clock, quick Bernie Sanders up the hill with 2 Bone Rubs at the top. Slow mosey back down.

Numbers, Names, Announcements (Below). YHC took us out

NMM: Retreat is this weekend. Some confusion on the arrival time. Monitor Slack to get final details. Cornhole Tourney commences at 14.30 Saturday. Paint ball Duels are rumored to be present.

YHC arrived this morning not really sure of the routine. Appreciate the PAX offering some ideas on the 4 corners but 40 Bone Rubs after 30 2 count Dancing Bears were brutal and not recommended for future. Core is burning in a good way. DTH noted the moon that rested over the school, which was really cool. Great partnering up with Chaplin on the CMIYC.

  • Building Brotherhood 1 Light Pole at a Time

6 Toned and Tanned Studs ascended onto the Forge to attack a beat down for the ages. DTH and Fresh Prince arrived simultaneously, leaving the rest of the PAX wondering if we were early or late starting. According the roaming coyote pack looking to take out the slowest of the herd, this is what occurred.

    COP 1: DQ’s, Heli’s, Cherry Pickers, SSH’s – warm yet, let’s mosey

COP 2: Looking to put in some miles, YHC set up a Light Pole Ladder, Lady of the Night style. Each light pole consisted of an exercise for PAX to complete than return to home base doing each exercise along the way. Exercises started at 2 reps and increased by 2 each pole.

15 light poles = a lot of running with many reps in between.

Here is how it went down:

    2 Burpees, 4 Lt. Dans, 6 Merkins, 8 WWII’s, 10 Jump Squats, 12 Curls (with coupons), Bear Crawl, 16 Curb Dips, 18 American Hammers, 20 Calf Raises, 22 Mountain Climbers, 24 V Up’s, 26 Monkey Humpers, 28 LBC’s, 30 SSH’s.

Not enough time to get thru all exercises ladder style, so with 10 minutes to go an audible was called to finish all exercises in order. Snuff and DTH held plank while the remaining PAX finished up as a group.

    Times up – MBTTF

Announcements – Gridiron Convergence, Shirt Order Coming Soon – See DTH

Numbers, Names, YHC took us out

Moleskin: Having not seen the ladder in a while, YHC thought it would be a good change. Fresh Prince and Long Pole set the pace with clocking in around 3.5 miles today. Bullseye and I enjoyed bringing up the six to ensure no one got lost but still clocked a solid 3.2. Midway thru, a pack of coyotes started howling nearby. Luckily Cooper was safely investigating the numerous piles of goose remnants away from the pack.

Great message at the flag from DTH to take time and enjoy the chatter and fellowship during workouts. We are all out to make ourselves better people, and each of us can help a brother by simply learning more about them. Seize the Day boys. Enjoyed working with you today.

  • Iron Pax Hangover

A quartet of toned studs arrived before the sun to take on the day at First Watch. As YHC arrived an attempted poacher was taking off after an attempt to hijack the PAX for a rival AO. Fortunately the PAX remained faithful to the temptation.

5 am called and off we went. This is what was rumored to have occurred according to the paper carriers flying along the road.

COP 1: Warmarama consisting of DQ’s, SSH’s, Cherry Pickers, Arm Circles

COP 2: 7 of Diamonds – Burpees, Shoulder Tap Merkins, LBC’s, Monkey Humpers, Heels to Heaven, Mountain Climbers, Merkins

COP 3: Lazy Dora with coupons: 100 Lt Dans, 200 Chest Presses, 300 Curls (called early due to time)

    BTTF: YHC took us out

Announcements/Prayers: Labor Day Convergence on Monday at Gridiron, Florence Mother in Law going into surgery today, EF Huttons Father waiting for results on his scan tomorrow.

Moleskin: Mumble Chatter from Week 1 of the Iron Pax Challenge. Calling Burpees almost lead to a mutiny from the PAX as everyone was still burning from the brutal workout. Didn’t have time to finish the Dora but good work none the less.

Great to see the usual suspects at the AO this morning for some coupon work and a slow mosey around the church. Great work today gentlemen. Always good to get the workout in before the sunrise. Seize the Day boys.

  • Comet or Conspiracy?

5 toned studs arrived at River and Ridge before the sun this morning to see what an SOJ immigrant could bring for his AO VQ. Here is the story of how it went from those that were smart enough to remember.

COP at the church included quick round of arm circles and cherry pickers. Warm enough, lets grind?

THE THANG: Mosey back to the parking lot for a bit of 4 corners with a twist: 25 American Hammers (2 count), 50 Merkins, 75 Mountain Climbers, 100 Jump Squats. Bear Crawls on the short end to get those shoulders nice a buff.

Mosey over to the triangle at Ridge and Westham for a Super Dora. 100 WWII’s, 200 Ball Dippers, 300 Alabama Prom Dates, 400 Carolina Drydocks. Timer runs up to the traffic light at Ridge and back.

Still time on the clock, Lets go back to the Church for an SOJ staple with a Doozy Mankiller classic.

PAX still had energy to burn so mosey back to the parking lot for some sprints. All out 60 yard sprint to get our combine times on point. Walk back to the line and lets go again.

MBTTF with a Merkin Ring of Fire until sun comes up.

Numberama, Namearama, Announcement, YHC took us out.

Announcements: Honeydo pulling the double header today with Hill Run tonight followed by beverages of choice. Respect to Kubota’s M for retiring from Hanover Schools after 16 years leading the classroom. Thoughts and prayers to those on the front lines.

NMS: It was an honor joining these great men today in a bit of ground and pound. Mumble chatter with a short COP to dive right into the grind. PAX flew thru the Super Dora much quicker than expected with mumble chatter about shoulders so YHC decided to work the calves with the Mankillers. PAX seemed to crush everything that was thrown at them with style and grace. Sprints seemed to be highlight the youth in the ranks with experienced veterans bringing up the rear.

Seems Kubota was a meteorologist in a former life and mentioned something about the comet sighting at dusk last night. Not sure if it is fact or fiction, as no one else was aware of its existence. Maybe a Russian satellite or Elon Musks’ latest rocket to Mars.

  • Beach Body Workout

Nine bronzed Chippendale look-a-likes arrived at the trimmed, professionally manicured landing strip of Huguenot Park.

COP 1 – Mosey to the plush field 3 for a quick warm up of arm circles and cherry pickers. Warm yet, lets travel a bit.

The Thang – Moseyed off site to the CJW parking lot for a quick 4 corner of merkins (hand release variety), SSH, and some other limb loosening exercises. Mumble chatter in route as we crossed over a brush pile and some small trees but no one faltered.

Back to the Pavilion for some X work. Round 1 included 25 dips (100 total) at the benches after each corner exercise of 25 (WWII’s, Carolina Dry Docks, Mountain Climbers, Jump Squats). PAX enjoyed this so much we decided to add Round 2 except 30 derkins (120 total) on the benches to get those arms pumped. Corner exercises of 30 included Heels to Heaven, Groiners, Rosalitas, American Hammers.

Still time on the clock so lets do a triple check. Mosey to the parking lot for some pole smokers, curb crawl while the timer ran the curbs. 3 rounds was not enough so lets add a 4th for good measure.

Slow Mosey back to the Flag for Numberama, Nameorama and Announcements. Prince has f3 shirts for Wojo and Posh. Wilson sent out prayers to F3 brothers and their families for recent health concerns.

NMS: At 5.25 it looked like it would be the Covid No Toll regulars until New Market came in hot at 5.30 and Fresh Prince caught up with the group on the way to COP.

Good luck to Wilson this weekend as he drops his daughter off at Wrightsville Beach for school. Kegger on the dunes next weekend.

It was great to see Rosetta give Fresh Prince and Doozy some competition this morning with both of them only lapping YHC twice in each exercise.

  • Sumpfbestie

5 bilingual redwoods arrived on the sprawling campus of Betty Weaver Elementary School to tackle a long awaited Twin Team VQ for YHC. 5.30 and 4 were about to head off when headlights appeared in the distance. Pigskin, making the trek from Charlotte, came in hot to join the party. Tales have been spread over time but this is how it will be remembered.

Mosey down the James River High parking lot for COT. SSH, DQ’s and Helicopters were on the menu. Warm? lets get to the main course.

Mosey over to the Swamp to utilize the Field for a Beast with the following exercises: plankjacks, doubletap merkins, WWII’s, squats, calf raises, burpees. Everyone looked good, continue on to the parking lot.

5 corners in the parking lot starting at 10 and continuing to 50 count. Exercises included merkins, 2 count American hammers, jump squats, mountain climbers, then up the hill to finish with lbc’s.

Mosey to the back of the school for Bear Crawl Ladder. PAX up against the building alternating between peoples chair and balls to the wall. 1 person bear crawls to the opposite curb and rejoins PAX at the end. 2nd person begins bear crawl. Round 2 switched to lunges.

    BTTF

No announcements or prayers today, YHC took us out.

During COT, Pigskin and Mr. Holland were alternating counts between German and Spanish. YHC can hardly speak English with Math also being a challenge, making it difficult to determine when to stop. This gave us the German title (tclaps to Google Translate).

Welcome Pigskin, up from Charlotte visiting his family and possibly relocating to Richmond in the future. Turns out Mr. Holland and Pigskin are long lost distant family friends and possibly cousins from Mathews county. Small world.

Enjoyed working with you gentleman this morning. YHC has been looking to Q Twin Team for a while since Doozy brought me out a few months ago. Happy to avoid the Twin Team hill but only assume it will be revisited in upcoming AO’s. Stay safe this weekend and seize the day.

  • Competition Breeds Competition

9 able studs arrived out of their comfortable, air conditioned abodes into the hot and muggy mist that is known as The Forge. This is how it went down:

COP #1: Mosey to the traffic circle for a quick warm up of DQ’s x 10, Smurf Jacks x 15, Dead Man Hang x 10, Right over left x 10, Left over right x 10, Arm Circles. Everyone sweating, lets move:

COP #2: Escalating 4 Corners at the Soccer Field comprised of Corner 1- WWII’s, Corner 2 – Calf Raises, Corner 3 – Hammers (American Style), Corner 4 – Ball Dippers. 1 Burpee between each round.

COP #3: Vertical 11’s – Mosey over to the amphitheater for to get the arms pumping. Dips at the top and Decline Merkins at the bottom. Box Jumps in between.

COP #4: Burpee Dora – Mosey over to the bus loop to finish strong with a partner. 100 In Outs, 200 merkins, 300 jump squats. Timer run the bus loop.

Mosey BTTF for reverse Numberama, Nameorama & Announcements below. YHC took us out.

    Moleskin:

Hardywood and Long Pole crushed the corners at record pace with enough time for Long Pole to explore a bit of the land the Forge had to offer while waiting for YHC to finish up. Not to be outdone, Prince and Long Pole raced each other on the box jump 11’s, lapping YHC on round 1. Way to work boys.

    Announcements:

4th of July Convergence – Work off those extra hot dogs by spending time with Hardywood and others at No Toll. 6 am start for the festivities.

Thoughts for swift recovery for Doublemint from his motorcycle accident earlier this week. Get well soon

  • Size of the Coop does matter

8 stud farmers awoke with the rooster crowing to venture down to the Forge for an old fashioned beat down. Here is how the tale went.

COP – SSH, DQ, Cherry Pickers, Russian Soilders and others – warm yet, lets roll.

Triple Check – Run the bus loop, Balls to the Wall, WWII

Corners of 4 by the middle school – 10 merkins, 20 American Hammers, 30 Boxing Cockroaches, 40 Jump Squats – mumble chatter about socially distant cockroaches are tough

Curb Crawl – 11’s – 1 dip, bear crawl, 10 merkins, crawl bear, 2 dips, etc. Touch work on the shoulders and traps.

Catch me if you can up to Forest Hill – 1 Burpee, and Bernie Sanders – switch

Pole Hoppers back to Flag – alternating each light pole between 3 merkins and 1 burpee.

Still time left – mosey down to 2nd parking lot for a 6 count of 10 – jump squats, WWII’s, LBC’s, Double Tap Merkins, Alabama Prom Date, Rosalittas. Still time? Let’s do it again.

BTTF, Count, Names, Announcements – Memorial Day Murph on Monday. Check BB for time and place near you.

    Bone Thugs took us out.

Seems there is a bit of Chicken Coop competition happening within the PAX. Roper, Hardywood and Snuff all showing off the latest architectural trends in Chicken Coop design and décor. Impressive stuff. Chickens living better then most of our single apartments.

  • Price of Finishing Early

6 Young Studs arrived dressed in their Tuesday best for a Prom Date beatdown with the lush green fields at No Toll. Like many proms, most events were a bit hazy but this is what was recalled.

Mosey to the parking lot for quick warm up. SSH’s, Arm Circles, Reverso, Cherry Pickers, DQ’s, LBC’s, Inverted Scorpion Kicks. Everyone warm, lets hit the dance floor.

Mosey to the perfectly manicured green fields. Ideal condition for some slow dancing and soft whispers of anticipation. First Dance – 2 songs of 5 Points. Song 1 included the 80’s rock ballad of the following exercises 30 times in each corner of the field – Dips, WWII’s, Mountain Climbers, Jump Squats, Pickle Pounders. After each exercise rejoin your friends in the center of the floor for 3 burpees. Song 2 was a slow 90’s R&B number again of 30 count broken up by 3 burpees each time – Merkins, Dips, American Hammers, Monkey Humpers, Carolina Dry Docks. Shoes were left behind mangled in a pile, showing it was time to make the move.

Last Dance- lets pick up the pace a bit with some heavy metal 100’s. First person to 100 of each exercise calls out and PAX runs to the opposite field to find another dance partner. Rounds included Mountain Climbers, Monkey Humpers, SSH’s and the always popular calf raises (both in and out). We don’t discriminate at this party.

Time to treat her right, so we moseyed over to the parking lot for some 1 on 1 action. Partner up for Broad Jump Burpees between the curbs while partner runs. Round 2 was Polar Bear Merkins to get back to the room.

YHC was spent and just like in high school finished too early. Looking around at the disappointed faces, YHC had to think quick. No problem, back to the lush dance floor for a Merkin Ring of Fire. Doozy showed he still had the energy with Rocky Balboa’s.

Still time on clock and YHC went blank. Luckily Bone Thugs felt it was time for Hardywood to become a man, killer that is. Doozy led us and our already burning calves in the No Toll Mankiller tradition. Made it through 7 count and now BTTF for a long nap and happy thoughts.

    Numberarma, Namarama, Announcements

Memorial Day Murph coming up quick. Details coming hot.

    YHC took us out.

  • Can you trademark a mile?

5 warriors rose from the various fart sacks this morning to sharpen themselves at the Forge. Here is how it went down:

Singer Mile Warm Up: Run down to the cul de sac and back catching the parking lots along the way for a cool 1 mile and fulfill the monthly challenge. YHC inadvertently named this the DTH mile but found out Wedding Singer pioneered this route. YHC soon found out hills suck.

COP 1: Circle up for 10 exercises: DQ’s, Helis, Cherry Pix, Merkins and Scorpian kicks

COP 2: Recently it seems 4 corners has replaced the Beast so why not bring it back. Moseyed to the middle parking lot for 6 stations of 6 exercises 6 times. Rounds included Double Tap Merkins, WWII’s, Mountain Climbers, American Hammers, Jump Squats and to the PAX relief Flutterkicks instead of Burpees.

COP 3: 5 man rotation: Each man on an exercise with timer running down the hill and bearcrawling back up. Exercises were incline merkins, LBC’s, Jump Squats, Crab Cakes.

COP 4: Still time on the clock allowed Doozy to introduce his Mankillers to a few of the PAX. Did the tough end of a 10 pack as time required an audible after 5.

    BTTF, Numberama, Namarama, Announcements
