  • A Little Faster

Wanting to shake things up a bit, YHC threw out an option of 5.5 miles for MOT. Boberry jumped right in and Heist put out the invite to Airwolf who joined in to help set the pace.

4-milers did their thing, a few joined in for the first 3 miles and broke off to cool down for the last 2 while Boberry and Airwolf dragged YHC along for the extra 0.5.

Good push, needed by some, enjoyed by all. Looking forward to doing it again soon. Maybe one day we’ll catch up on BBs for MOT.

Prayers for many – Hermie, Wildcat, Flatline, NTB. Be someone’s positive light today.

  • Who has a Rooster?

The warm weather popped a few cocoons and the PAX were out in force at TwinTeam. A few too many for the coupons YHC brought along so we had to supplement with the hidden cinderblocks.

High PAX numbers through off the plan for the day so sticking together and improvising through the chatter was the theme of the day. Early talk of bottle service with Rumpleminze in Columbia, SC got us through the warmup. Round robin with various weighted exercises and timer getting in a few pullups.

Other stuff happened too, some with weights, some without, very little counting and a bit of running. Overall a solid Lounge at TwinTeam workout with an excellent round of post-workout coffee.

Welcome back Sanchez and others that have been in hibernation.

  • Speaking of Penetration

Too many guys out at OTB today for a run/ruck/walk to not post a Backblast. Plus there was a perfect BB title thrown out as a questionable segue at coffee.

1-hour of activity for everyone regardless of speed, weight carried, or species. Runners thrived with some slow miles although a couple tried to pull away, only to be drawn back by lack of directions.

Ruckers/walkers were dragged along by a couple of canine friends that were rewarded with pup cups at the end.

The most consistent and longest running OTB workout in the land continues. Beware of the rucker text thread Salt Lick – you’ve been warned.

  • Working off the Rust

2 Midlo residents left the bootcampers to do their own thing with Dumar and went out in an unplanned tour of the thawed streets of Midlothian. Both Draper and I were working off the rust of minor tweaks and the avoidance of icy streets. Easy pace, solid conversation, 4.5+ miles later and we’re back on track.

Frozen Triangle: This Saturday 6am at Dogpile – come for Bodo’s 10-year F3 Manniversary to kick it off and stay for the extra miles and the fellowship. Gumbo and Gypsy on the Q for the other Boot Camps.

  • Just the one hill

3 regulars and a runner convened at the OG OTB for 7+ miles with a route TBD. Having missed out on the Rosemont loop a couple months ago, I wanted to make sure I got it in again. Big Rig seemed to have no issue with the hill as conversation continued most of the way up. Options for other hills were possible but we kept it to the one this time.

A recent lunch at Urban Farmhouse reminded me why we don’t meet there anyone – new but more pleasant staff, same efficiency.

  • Better Late

Seeing a few solo BBs reminded me to post this one. MOT – Christmas Eve. While the boot campers did their SOT thing, YHC worked his way through a handful of miles around Midlothian with nothing but my thoughts on Christmas and end of year preparation.

Good thing I harassed the Q to get this BB posted.

  • 2026 Starts Right

40+ guys with a handful of 2.0s converged on F3RVA’s showcase AO for a New Year’s Day beatdown. A few of the strong joined us for a double dip after Circus but the rest rolled in with plenty of time for some pre-workout greetings.

YHC took the Q from the start and led the contingent into the amphitheater for a warmup. Generally standard fare to start with a highlight of a Jazzercise off between Nancy Lopez and Senor Frog. Nancy’s heart wasn’t in it after the OSU lost last night and Senor brought the energy. A little back and forth from plank to on our 6 threw the PAX off but they powered through.

Resident Legend and Triple Respecter took the next section and proceeded to put the PAX through a typical Pigskin-esque amount of pain. 4 corners/Eye of the Storm with 5 burpees in the middle and exercises of 20 merkins, SSH, jump squats, and crunchy frogs. Next we hit the Carillon for a rapid fire variety COP with decline/incline/mike tyson merkins, Freddies, flutters, copperhead squats and other fun. The PAX was relieved to find out the Q was getting passed to a much younger HIM when Boberry took over to take us to the Penny Stage.

Triple Check with dips and plank jacks. COP with a variety of explicit commentary followed and now we know how Boberry ended up with so many kids. Next up was a Lindsey in the Valley of Death with squats and carolina dry docks that took us to the end of the hour.

Another great morning at Dogpile and a great way to kick off 2026. Thanks for letting me lead.

Look out for 3rd F opportunities at The Bridge or Breaking Bread throughout 2026.

Reminder that this is a great time to EH as guys are looking to fulfill their New Year’s resolutions. Give it away

Prayers for Gomer and his crew as they prepare for the mission trip to Honduras.

More info to come soon on the next F3RVA CSAUP.

  • Singing in the Gloom

43!! Men of F3RVA stepped into the gloom and found out there is a best way to start the day out right at NoToll, join the the 11th annual version of 12 Days of Christmas. Thankful to those who ignored their typical ‘rule’ of avoiding rainy days below 40 degrees and jumped in head first to join in on the Christmas Spirit.

After an intro, welcome to the FNG from Iceland, and some standard warm up fare we headed to cover for the main event.

A couple false starts with a few guys getting ahead of the Q in rounds 1 and 2, the PAX settled into a harmonious rhythm as we worked our way through the 12 days:

    • 1 Dozen LBCs
    • 2 Sprints (mosey) across the field
    • 3 Diamond Merkins
    • 4 Imperial Squat Walkers
    • 5 Burpees
    • 6 Carolina Dry Docks
    • 7 Ball Dippers
    • 8 Hand Release Merkins
    • 9 American Hammers
    • 10 Freddie Mercuries
    • 11 Crunchy Frogs
    • 12 Broad Jump Burpees

I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out today and letting me lead this tradition, my cup is full for the Holidays! The chatter was high under the shelter but, as the Q, I did not get to hear much of it beyond the occasional comment. Naming the FNG was an adventure with a rapid fire of random non-sequiturs coming from Hardywood and minimal repeats or consensus.

Thanks to EF Hutton for coordinating the Secret Santa and to Snuff, Dealer, and maybe others – for the post workout onsite coffeeteria.

Lots of things to do, places to be, and people to see over the next few days but take the time to slow it down and enjoy time with family.

    Announcements:

    • Kubota is leading The Bridge on 12/27, reach out if you can go, all 3 Fs in a few short hours
    • DTH is opening the Forge on Christmas day and according to the Q sheet Circus will be in session as well with Atilla
    • NEW YEAR’S DAY Convergence – Dogpile 7am – hit me up if you are going to be there – looking for a couple of Qs.

  • Mini Horseshoe

6 SOJ men were ready for a Rosie Q at Timberwolf with one LIFO, but the PAX accepted the excuse post-workout.

Head to the tennis courts for a brief warmup of standard fare.

YHC explained the mini version of the Luck Horseshoe – one exercise then lap around the tennis courts always facing the same direction, run, slide left, bernie, slide right. Add exercise 2, lap, up to exercise 5 then start dropping. Exercises were the classic LH – merkins, Imperial squat walkers, scorpion dry docks, WWII, lunges, 20 of each. All rounds completed by the PAX, the mini version definitely kept us closer together than the full track version. Cottontails form is on point!

Mosey around the school to the benches for some low rep form work. 2 rounds of dips, AARP squats, derkins, split squats, hoe downs.

Mosey our way back to the flag adding 2 LIFO penalty burpees before the 45 minute mark.

Thanks for letting me take the lead at Timberwolf, it’s been a while since I’ve had the Q out there. You are welcome for making it a mini and not the full Lucky Horseshoe.

    • Magnum PI workout at Dogpile this Saturday – wear your Hawaiian shirt, Tigers hat and mustache if you’ve got it
    • Daddy Daughter dance Saturday 12/6 – lots of guys signed up, looks like it’s going to be a good time

  • Just start running

Unsure where the morning route would take us 2 gentlemen headed into the gloom and down the dirt road. Conversation led down a few roads and our legs down others. Some decision making on the fly lead us through Salisbury to Winterfield. YHC hit the Mt. Pisgah hills on the return while Signer went to find relief.

Met up with the boot campers at the end, SOT is making it’s way back.

    • My M’s art show is at Black Iris on Broad Street Friday night, open to all from 5-9pm.
    • Daddy Daughter Dance 12/6 – WEAG
