  • Hemorrhoid is Still Available

Sixteen of my gloom brethren gathered for the third day of “it sounds like a good idea to sign up for three days in a row of Qs” Splinter Q. After a few hot brogans moseyed across the street and the stream of cars finally stopped with Hitch coming in hot, off we went for a quick loop around the lot before convening at our normal COP gathering place.

YHC missed his anniversary Q a few months ago and contemplated recreated his first workout again. With a few in the PAX ailing and likely unable to run that distance, an audible was called. My inner Chum Bucket was creative last night and I recalled a few Super 21s we did at Punisher that I always hated. Hated because they were hard, got the heart rate up, yet didn’t require a lot of running. Thus Super 21s today. You can all text Chum and thank him.

Mumblechatter varied today from high school baseball results and discrepancies between single count and double count (where was Upchuck when we needed him). YHC forgot the reference to national corn on the cob day, perhaps Last Call will pay homage soon.

    Coffeeteria was great as always.

Have a great Wednesday everyone. Welcome to our FNGs. See y’all soon.

  • Those Two Extra Fingers Hurt

Only 5 takers for Spider Run this morning. One launched early and YHC arrived to nary a soul. Tricklers arrived, first 1-800, then Chippendale, followed by a Hitchhiker in need of some solo meditation. Route was shared and off we went:

Hitchhiker had no time for instructions this morning and went on his merry way. Sometime solitary time is good for the soul and today was Hitch’s opportunity for reflection.

1-800 seemed to be back in top gear today, powering up those hills with blatant disregard for the humidity in the air. Even with Chippendale and YHC reminding of an impossible pace, he carried on. Thanks for pulling us along today.

Saab was poked by a bear and decided to launch early and run extra. Even an offer of a ride home was stiff-armed. Must have been still bitter about those two extra fingers at the end.

Enjoy the day fellas. Splinter out.

  • Handshake Wears a Weighted Vest Under his Shirt

Nine Tuckahoegeans gathered on the lower pavement for today’s iteration of Hoedown. Some hoped for rolling around in newly laid sod but the PAX went north instead. Short mosey to Trinity for:

    COP

    • 20x SSH
    • 15x Helicopters
    • 15x Copperhead Squats
    • 10x Merkins
    • 10x Inverted Scorpions
    • 15x Freddie Mercuries
    • 10x DQs
    • Probably something else

    The Thang

No mosey as we were already there to the first small parking lot on TUMC campus. Small 4 corners. 10x Merkins / 20x Jump Squats / 30x LBCs / 40x SSH.

Mosey 10 feet to the second parking lot for larger 4 corners. 10x HRMs / 20x Squats / 30x Flutters / 40x MCs.

Mosey another 10 feet to the narrow parking lot in front of the church. Burpee ladder. 10 parking spaces (confirmed by Pigskin and reconfirmed by Garbage Plate). Run to the first, 1 burpee, return for 25 ab exercises. Run to 2nd parking spot, 2 burpees, return for 25 ab exercises. Continue until we hit all 10 parking spaces and 10 rounds of ab exercises (LBCs, Flutters, American Hammers, APDs, something else).

Dudes run BTTVSF for a quick round of Mary with HTH, WWIIs, Rosalitas.

Solid push by the PAX today. Pucker still hasn’t adapted to the Virginia humidity and his shirt showed it this morning.

See y’all this week at various places.

  • Denied

There were eight today, for our weekly gathering near the pond scum of lake Westhampton. Routes were posted early, countryside lollipops, and a non-enthusiastic Q talked through directions before we embarked on our journey.

    • 5s: big loop of countryside to ruggles
    • 4s: small loop of april to melwood
    • All came back via the park.

  • Legit Chicken Sh!t

Ten traversers-of-the-ballsack, gathered in the waning darkness for today’s RAMM. Gumbo arrived staring at his phone, likely studying the route. Saab appreciated the ball sack route which prompted many jokes on balls. Bone Thugs appropriately stated, “that escalated quickly”.

    The Route

    • South on Commonwealth and around the Windsor Farms loop
    • North on Malvern
    • East on Grove
    • Left on Nansemond (4s), Cleveland (5s), Sheppard (6s)

  • Classic Rewind on Cue

Thirteen, that’s right, thirteen of the hoe’s and near-hoe’s finest, gathered in the fading gloom for this week’s iteration of Hoedown. After the celebration of Oyster’s arrival, we avoided the petting zoo gifts and mosey’d to the front of the school for:

    COP

    • 25x SSH
    • 10x DQ
    • 20x Copperhead Squats
    • 20x LBCs
    • 10x HRMs
    • 10x Mountain Climbers
    • 10x Side (not front) lunges

    The Thang

Mosey back to the top of Lindsay Ct and partner up. With odd numbers, YHC joined forces with NTB and Señor Frog. Inverse love hill. Partner 1 runs to the bottom and back while partner 2 does exercises. Flapjack and continue until you reach the bottom of the hill. Exercises were crab walks, lunges, broad jumps.

10 count followed by 20 merkins.

Back up the hill. Same partners, this time exercises were polar bears, duck walks, broad jump burpees. Tons of excitement as we went back up the hill. Al Gore at the top for the 6.

Short saunter back over to the traditional 11s place for, you guessed it, 11s. Bernie to the hill and up it, WWIIs at the top. Mitt Romney back to the other side for jump squats.

Circle back up for 4 MoM which included 10x APDs, 20x freddie mercuries, 10x HTHs, 20x american hammers.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

Upper 40s brought out some overdressed PAX members. Even with the extra layers, energy level was quite high today. Oyster even earned a round of applause for joining pre-launch.

BB title comes from the impeccable timing of Classic Rewind this am. As YHC got in the car to depart, Bicycle Race by Queen started on the radio. With a fade in effect as if they were waiting for me to start the car. Must have been the Freddie Mercuries we did during Mary.

    Announcements

    • The Bridge 5/10. See Hermes for details.
    • CSAUP this Friday. See your local lead.
    • Breaking Bread is available in May. Sign up!

    Have a blessed day everyone.

  • Delegating Duties

80% of the Splinter clan planned and participated in this past Sunday’s Breaking Bread. Last minute commitments prevented us from breaking bread with them, only drop off and setup this time around.

2.0s planned, shopped, prepared, cooked, packaged, and served this week. YHC was only required for transportation.

Meal was parmesan crusted chicken, asparagus, french bread, caesar salad, and cookie brownies for dessert.

A fun time was had by all.

  • Tour de Crabs

Nine Mary nincompoops gathered for a potential duel that was eagerly anticipated. After YHC signed up in a blank cell last night and created a route, Saab also signed up in a blank cell last night and created a route. After some threatening text messages back and forth, it was established that it would be figured out in the AM. Under a haze of disappointment, it turns out there was no duel. Bodos had studied YHCs route and was planning on running that. Saab wanted hills and was planning on running his route. So it was left to YHC, as others were either walking or had no clue what was going on. 0530 arrived and after some studder stepping in each direction, YHC’s route was chosen. Off we went, for a flat, somewhat of a double lollipop kind of route. Turns out Bodos didn’t study it enough.

    The Route

    • East on Grove
    • North on Nansemond
    • West on Patterson
    • North on Spokane (who knows why there is a Spokane in RVA)
    • Jog over to east on Monument
    • 4s turn at Commonwealth, 5s at Hamilton, 6s at Tilden
    • West on Grove

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

Saab hasn’t yet signed up for 3/21 but promised he would. Someone needs to check their internet connection b/c one of us was wrong last night.

Title was stolen from Saab’s comment that the route apparently passed by each of his youngin’s homes.

  • Wisdom Prevails

Fifteen, including many elder statesmen, gathered in the darker than usual commons bowl for this week’s iteration of Spider Run. After claiming the Q last week, there were many inquiries of whether or not intervals were on the docket. Not today fellas, just a good ole Spider Run classic. Glenbrooke Circle route was called and off everyone went:

    The Route

    • Alongside the lake, across the bridge, and through the trail
    • Up University, across Ridge, then left on Ralston
    • Take a dump in Kubota’s yard
    • Right on River, right on Glenbrooke Circle
    • Left on West Glenbrooke Circle
    • Right on Summit and back down
    • 4s return
    • 5s take a right and continue, clockwise, around Glenbrooke Circle then return
    • 6s do the Glenbrooke Circle and add the Windsor on the James loop as well
