  • 70 and sunny is overrated!

11 warriors posted on a perfect summer day for a run. Route was Mount Henrico.

    NMM

It was high 60’s and raining at the start of the run. It was supposed to be raining all night, but didn’t start til 515 or so. A little chilly waiting in the rain with no shirt on, but perfect once the running commenced Having battled through the heat and humidity of late, it felt great to be able to push and not lose steam.

Sippy was in the lead by himself this morning. Although he has done this route a dozen or so times, he managed to get a little bit lost. He did make his way to the top of mount henrico, but by a more difficult route, going straight up the patterson hill.

Vinny posted a few second late, and didn’t make it too far before contributing last nights dinner to the ducks. Kudos to him to continue on and do some laps around the lake.

Don Draper appeared from nowhere at the end of the run. He was looking for us at the start, but couldn’t figure out where we launched from. Now he knows.

  • Creative new route

14 warriors posted on a perfect July Morning. Relatively cool weather for this time or year. Route was up the hill, to St. Christoper Road, right on Patterson. 23 minute out, 22 minutes back.

    NMM

Great weather for a run this time of year, humidity was down and it actually felt a little bit cool out there.

Lug and YHC were chasing each other the entire way. Great to have someone to push you along when you want to take a little breather along the way. Thanks to Lug, I made it back to the flag in 21 and a half minutes. Honestly, most of the time was made up in the last hill. Took me 5 minutes to climb and four minutes to descend. I was helped along a little bit by Splinter catching up with me on the way down. Since I thought it was Lug, I was all but sprinting down the hill.

Glad to have some of the vacationing guys back. Gomer pyle back from Europe, and Swirly from down at Holden beach. Bleeder didn’t make an appearance from the Jimmy Garroppolo islands. Can’t wait to hear how his trip went.

Everyone, including Saab, loved the creativity of this route…

    Prayers for Helix’s daughter.

  • Sunday not Funday

Six dudes posted on a Sunday morning for a run around the trails. Northbank to buttermilk was the route.

IT Was Hot, We went for a Swim, it was type four fun. Not fun while you are doing it and not fun afterwards.

  • Sunday and 70

On a perfect morning, ten strong broke loose from the fart sack and made it to the trails.

Northbank to buttermilk and back for most. Lab Rat and BT had an early departure time so did the northbank and back. Lug got lost (not sure how) and hit a little bit of the forest hill loop.

    NMM

Flipper is on a roll. I didn’t witness this myself, but Flipper claims he was leading the group through the run this morning. I honestly wouldn’t doubt it, he, Lug, and Vinny have been putting the work in lately and crushing some miles.

    Good time at ET’s afterwards.

  • A tribute to Sarah

16 stalwarts posted on a drizzly Thursday morning…oops sorry, it was 70 and sunny.

    The Thang.

Had tentatively planned a hockey themed workout, but things didn’t go Boston’s way last night, so bagged that idea. Many thoughts from the pax at the beginning that led me to doing the new Sarah workout. Got some comments about going off campus, some about not wanting to run and one Pax member noting he did not have any gloves this morning. So, given all that feedback, I improvised and decided that we would not venture more than 100 yards away from our cars and have a beatdown in a limited area.

Many comments about the Bruins and the game last night. Yes, I know they lost. One of the great things about hockey is that you never know who is going to prevail. St. Louis had the worst record in the league on Jan 2 and turned things around and won the cup. Congrats to the Blues on their first Stanley Cup. Would have liked to see Boston win, but with 12 championships in the past 18 years, I think we are good.

Marv posted for a bootcamp this morning. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised, but I don’t think I have seen him at a bootcamp in some time. What next Marv? Are you going to post a backlist for a workout that you Q? Say it aint so.

Vinny and Swirly were talking about seer sucker suits last night on the run. Honestly, I don’t know (nor do I want to know) what a seer sucker is, but any men’s fashion that has rules on what time of year you can wear them is completely BS. Whats next? are we going to have to go to the bathroom in pairs now. Please.

The only explanation that I have for the seer sucker suit is that the first salesman that sold one turned to his buddy and said “SEE theRe, I just sold that SUCKER the ugliest suit for a premium price, he must be from the south”

TYA Out. Thanks for letting me lead today.

  • Don’t take a faceplant

6 studs posted on a nice spring morning in Richmond. Route was northbank to T potters field to buttermilk and home just under 6 miles , j. Saab hit the roads.

    NMM

The parking lot was packed when I arrived at 645. Rare for a Sunday morning. Often in the winter we are the only folks in the parking lot. Ollivander put in an extra half hour pre-workout.

The trails were looking for payback today. Faceplant almost took a faceplant today about a mile into the run. He stumble for a few yards then caught himself. YHC was happily making his way down the trails thinking how much better he has gotten on the trails especially after our jaunt on the AT a few weeks ago. 10 second later I hit the deck. Concentration on the trails is key and it only takes a second of losing concentration to hit a rock and stumble…

We missed Sally out there today. Offshore is still hurting from wearing his exercise shoes for the run in Wednesday. Great to have faceplant out there for the first time. Always good to have visitors on the trails.

  • Wednesday Hill run – a couple weeks ago

3 warriors posted on a wednesday for a jaunt around hillcrest. Kubota and Husky did a couple laps and TYA ran a few long and medium loop.

  • Two churches

14 strong posted on a Thursday morning for a beatdown at Mary Mumford.

    The Thang

Mosey about 50 yards to side of school. 5x Don Quixote, 10x merkins, Mosey a little more to corner of Commonwealth and Cary, another COP with random exercises. Run across the street to the sidewalk on cary and Mosey to windsor way. Team up, first person runs to next intersection and back, other person does Lunges, crab dippers, and polar bears until both reach the intersection. Mosey to Grove Baptist Church field. 4 corners. First round mosey to first corner for 10 merkins, second corner, 20 copperhead squats, third corner 40 WWII setups, corners 4 40 side straddle hops. While waiting for the 6 continue to do SSH. Reverse direction and run backwards between the stations, add 5 to each exercise ending at the merkin station. Mosey to Windsor way, make your way to the next intersection doing lunges, crab dips, and polar bears in team. Mosey to intersection of Windsor way and Cary. Cross street and enter Reveille church. Short COP at side of school. Go through back entrance of school and mosey back to shovel flag, stopping several times for more merkins, mary exercises and other COP activities.

    NMM

I was kicking my own ass this morning. The reason we has so many COP and stops along the way was because I couldn’t get into a running rhythm. Even with the stops, I didn’t want to give the us a break, so I kept the exercises flowing.

Field at Grove Baptist was awesome today. They had cut the grass so it wasn’t its normal knee high grass. Only negative on the field was that on the south side of the field there were a bunch of divers/holes in the field. Ankle breakers if you were not careful.

Splinter brought us out and into the day we went.

  • Look out for the traffic

13 rambunctious warriors bolted out of the fartsack this morning to take a quick jog.

Route was up the hill to the main entrance, right up the hill to Cary, back down the hill to the main entrance, up Boatright to three chopt. Repeat as many times as possible.

Traffic was heavy this morning. Especially on Boatright. YHC had to bail out to the woods a couple of times. The route was great as it had good elevation change and was a mile end to end. Last week during spring break would have been the time to hit this route.

Epic “fight” between Marv and Hardywood post workout. Hardywood started it out by mocking game announcers. Marv hit back hard with a whining rendition of Hardywood talking about selling shoes. It was classic, but as Flatline says, only those who post can understand.

Late crowd today. 4 people in the lot with two minutes to launch. But the crowd did post.

  • DST. Why?

6 soldiers ignored the time change and posted on the first time of EDT DST.

    The Thang.

Over the river and up the hill, left on riverside drive to the T. Pottersfield bridge, up the hill and back to the pump house.

    NMM

Two groups of folks stayed relatively together today. Upchuck, Labrat, Shakedown and Gomer Pyle were in the lead group. Lug Nut and TYA made sure the six was taken care of.

Perfect temp for a run this morning, cool but not cold.

Lug Nut is on a roll. He had a steady, strong pace throughout and then tried to track YHC down at the end. I maintained a steady hundred foot lead throughout, making sure we didn’t get Lug lost. As we approached the Carillon, I heard the footsteps behind me. Lug picked up the pace and was chasing me down the hill. We both gave it all we had, sprinting (kinda) down the hill. He was wishin spitting distance (how about that for using the southern vernacular) when we finished. Thank god we were at the end, because I gave all I had going down that hill.

Great second F at Ellwoods after the run. Saab joined us for a quick cup of tee and a retelling of the various pets he had as a child. New Jersey is a truly interesting place with a unique culture.

Shout out to Bootleg on finishing the Belmonte and working his way through some cramping issues. The man is a beast. Additionally, I love the comradely of F3. Sippy made the trip to wintergreen and ran the last 13 or so miles with his brother Bootleg. That kind of support cannot be underestimated. Congratulations to Bootleg and thanks to Sippy for showing us what supporting someone looks like.
