  • Best Route Ever

16 studs and one hound posted for a Tuesday morning run at UofR.  Route was up the main entrance, to 3 Chopt, to grove, 4 milers turn back at oak, five milers and Locke, and six milers at Malvern.

Not a lot of positive feedback when YHC announced the route today.  Seems the Lockjaw’s constant creativity sets the bar hight for runs.  TYA is a creature of habit (not as much as Swirly is), so he likes tried and tested routes.  So today was perfect for at least one of the PAX.

  • 3 – 2

Four posted on the first Wednesday of the year.  Kubota and Husky did the short loop, Kubota with a Ruck on.  It was a beautiful night. Upchuck posted at 530 as is he norm…the rest launched at 500.  Fun was had by all.

  • A trail run and a rucking good time

Five runners and four ruckers posted on a beautiful Sunday morning.  The five runners headed over the nickel bridge and did a loop around forest hill park.  Flip dog took the buttermilk back, the rest of the crew opted for the buttermilk to T. Pottersfield, the north bank and back for a ten miler.  The ruckers headed over the bridge as well, all went to the spur and back for at least an hour and 20 minute ruck.  Shakedown, headed back out the trail to meet the guys at the two mile point and ran back to the parking lot. Rosie put in a few extra miles pre workout logging a total of almost 15.

  • Seventy and Sunny for Seven on Sunday

7 warriors posted on a Sunday morning.  Trails were too wet, so a road run was in order.  Over the river, up the hill, left on Riverside, cross over on T. Pottersfield bridge, make you way back on the north side to the pump house parking lot.

Rosie got a bonus four miles this morning pre launch.  He is training for his Tybee Island race weekend and getting in as many miles as possible.  Rosie, Hardywood, and Saab logged in nine miles this morning. They got a bit of extra mileage by running through the fan.  The rest of the crew logged about 7.5 miles (depending on your GPS, although other GPS’s are bullshit and only the Garmin is correct).  Sally lightened her load alone the way and was chipper post rest stop.

Wednesday is HDHH at Capital Ale House on the south side.

Hardywood’s daughter may or may not have a book signing on Wednesday as well.  Depends whether the books arrive on time.

BRR is on Sept 6, 7th this year.  Let TYA know if your are interested.  Sign up will be soon.

  • 1/2 Credit for McFly

7 stalwarts posted for a Tuesday morning jaunt.  Route was out of UR to three chops, to grove, to oak.  Five milers turn back at oak, six milers take a loop on hillcrest and then head back.

Great weather for a run.  36 degrees and no humidity.  Perfect.

BT made a guest appearance after a 3 week hiatus from F3.  Despite the absence he had a good run with Swirly.  McFly started out with the six milers and was no where to be found at the end of the run.  Seems he had an unexpected date with a BM and had to (mc)fly early.  I have to check with corporate to see if he leaves the event less than halfway through if he gets full credit for posting.  My opinion is that he gets half a post.  We will see what corporate has to say.

Light turnout for a Spider run. It is the first time in a long time that I can remember less than double digit numbers posting.  It must have been fear of the TYA Q.

  • Sunday after Thanksgiving run

3 stalwarts posted for a Sunday morning run a few days after thanksgiving.  We took went over the nickel bridge, picked up the access road, crossed at the T. Pottersfield bridge, and came back on the Northbank.

Flipper is an animal.  He kept pace on the entire route and ripped off an 1:14 minute 7 miles on the trails.  Great work.  Shakedown filled in admirably for Lab Rat, keeping the conversation going the entire way.  But, alas, no one can talk as much and on a varied number of topics like Mr. Rat.

Looked like we were going to have a light Thanksgiving crowd this morning.  When I showed up at 550, there were less than a dozen PAX present.  By the time the workout started we were up to 34.  Great showing given that there are a lot of travelers out the who had to workout someplace else.

Lots of mumble chatter early on about the first thanksgiving.  I appreciate the effort from the folks in the great state of VA, but if you do some research, the answer to where the American style Thanksgiving  started is pretty clear.  Regardless, it is not worth arguing over such a frivolous fact on this awesome day when we are supposed to look around and see what we are grateful for.

Vinny posted in a classic Virginia outfit today.  He was sporting Yard Khakis (pronounced yah cakeys) and a blazer.  This and the UVA student body at football games proves that Virginians think that a blazer (especially a blue one) is appropriate attire anywhere… a wedding, funeral, birthday party, F3 workout, football game, beach party, toga party.  Actually, the only day its not appropriate is on Halloween.

Thanks to Hardywood for the coffeetaria afterwards.  What a great thanksgiving tradition he has started and continued for the past several years.  Great way to ensure some high quality second F after a workout

It was an honor to lead today on my favorite holiday of the year.  I am thankful for a ton of things in my life.  Having traveled in many parts of the world, I know how truly special our great country is.  Yes, we have our problems, but there is no place better on the earth to liver. Also, I am grateful to this group for allowing me to be a member of the PAX.  The workouts and camraderie fill a space in my life that I did not know even existing.

  • At least I am faster than Marv

Three studs posted on a cold Wednesday evening for a hill run.  Husky and Kubota rocked out two laps in the cold and learned a valuable lesson: gloves and face coverage in the cold is important at night in the winter.  TYA posted and an hour later and hit two long plus a short loop.  Fun was had by all.

Ok, a week is far too long for a backblast posting, but there is always an upside to everything.  Marv would have not even had an inkling to post a backlblast a mere week late.

  • Perfect weather for a run

Three stalwarts posted on a Sunday morning.  It was the day after the Richmond marathon so I was expecting a light showing and that it what we got.

TSB and TYA did a 5 mile northbank out and back.  Pert Plus his the full seven (at least).
