  • T O G A, Toga

A dozen studs from Richmond and one visitor from Tennessee descended on the grounds of Mary Munford for an early morning beatdown. As always, 70 and sunny.

The Thang: Mosey to bus circle, curb crawls to seven, repeat seven and back down. Stay at bus circle, Proper Dora. Copper Head Squats, Jump Squats and WWII setups. Mosey to side of MM for modified triple check. 20 WWII, LBC, and merkins. Mosey to Northwest corner for COP. Mosey back to the flag to finish.

    NMM

I always look forward to a good thursday morning beatdown at MM. I pulled in, saw two cars and found swirly in the parking lot talking to none other than TOGA. What a surprise (I didn’t say a good surprise, just a surprise). It has been a minute since Toga has graced us with his presence, but today was one of those days. Lots of talk about his balls (as always) as well as reminiscing about how joyful and happy he always was as a pax member in Richmond.

Because of this joyous occasion of Toga being back, I wrote him a little song (no representation that it is good, but its the best I could do).

I met him in a field down in old Richmond
Where you drank gatorade and it tastes just like
    Coca Cola
    C-O-L-A Cola
He walked up to me and he asked me to partner
I asked him his name and in a dark brown voice he said, “TOGA”
T-O-G-A Toga, to to to to Toga

Well, I’m not the world’s most physical guy
But when he partner carried me he nearly broke my spine
Oh irritating Toga to to to to Toga
Well, I’m not dumb but I can’t understand
Why he walked like a gorilla but talked like a man
Oh irritating Toga, to to to to Toga to to to to Toga

Well, we drank Gatorade and ran all night
    Under under the skyfilled moonlight
He chased me down and made a fool out of me
He said, “Old man, won’t you go home to the infirmary?”
Well, I’m not the world’s most intellegent guy
But when I looked at his bald head,
Well, I almost punched irritating Toga
to to to to Toga, to to to to Toga
Toga to to to to Toga, to to to to Toga

    I pushed him away
    I walked to the door
    I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I flipped him off, and then he at me
Well, that’s the way that I want it to be
And I always want it to be that way for irritating Toga
    to to to to Toga

In all honesty, it was great to have you back today Toga. When you moved, the group lost a great leader and a valued PAX member….

  • Workout with music

Four strong men came out for the beatdown in a beautiful but hot and humid morning. YHC felt it would be a good idea to work out with music. Here is how it went out:

Mosey to the grounds of Dogwood Dell for COP.

    Deadmen Hang – 10 IC, crossed-leg stretch – 5 IC, Arm circle – 10 IC, Imperial Walkers – 10 IC, SSH – 25 IC, LBC – 20 IC, American Hammers – 20 IC, Flutter kicks – 20 IC, Merkins – 10 IC, Scorpion Kicks – 10 OYO.

Mosey to the field in front of the Carillon Tower for a Dora.

The running part was up and down the field, with the exercises being 100 Merkins, 200 Squats, and 300 LBC’s. Plank until done with YHC leading.

Mosey to the crop circle East of the Carillon Tower for a workout.

Started at the top with burp-and-jump to the intersection, jogged down the hill, sprinted up the hill, and plank position with four rounds.

Mosey to the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater for a mini Dora.

The running part ran around the Amphitheater, with the exercises being 50 LBCs, 50 American Hammers, and 50 Flutter Kicks. Plank until done with YHC leading.

Announcement: YHC wasn’t sure whether Honeydo will Hill Run this Wednesday or next Wednesday. Looks like it is tonight.

YHC took us out with prayer.

  • Comet or Conspiracy?

5 toned studs arrived at River and Ridge before the sun this morning to see what an SOJ immigrant could bring for his AO VQ. Here is the story of how it went from those that were smart enough to remember.

COP at the church included quick round of arm circles and cherry pickers. Warm enough, lets grind?

THE THANG: Mosey back to the parking lot for a bit of 4 corners with a twist: 25 American Hammers (2 count), 50 Merkins, 75 Mountain Climbers, 100 Jump Squats. Bear Crawls on the short end to get those shoulders nice a buff.

Mosey over to the triangle at Ridge and Westham for a Super Dora. 100 WWII’s, 200 Ball Dippers, 300 Alabama Prom Dates, 400 Carolina Drydocks. Timer runs up to the traffic light at Ridge and back.

Still time on the clock, Lets go back to the Church for an SOJ staple with a Doozy Mankiller classic.

PAX still had energy to burn so mosey back to the parking lot for some sprints. All out 60 yard sprint to get our combine times on point. Walk back to the line and lets go again.

MBTTF with a Merkin Ring of Fire until sun comes up.

Numberama, Namearama, Announcement, YHC took us out.

Announcements: Honeydo pulling the double header today with Hill Run tonight followed by beverages of choice. Respect to Kubota’s M for retiring from Hanover Schools after 16 years leading the classroom. Thoughts and prayers to those on the front lines.

NMS: It was an honor joining these great men today in a bit of ground and pound. Mumble chatter with a short COP to dive right into the grind. PAX flew thru the Super Dora much quicker than expected with mumble chatter about shoulders so YHC decided to work the calves with the Mankillers. PAX seemed to crush everything that was thrown at them with style and grace. Sprints seemed to be highlight the youth in the ranks with experienced veterans bringing up the rear.

Seems Kubota was a meteorologist in a former life and mentioned something about the comet sighting at dusk last night. Not sure if it is fact or fiction, as no one else was aware of its existence. Maybe a Russian satellite or Elon Musks’ latest rocket to Mars.

  • Did we spot a Karen in the wild?

Four New Market and one Salisbury residents showed up at SOT in four different cars. We waited patiently for Doublemint as he had signed up for Q, then magically it was removed. Off we mosey’d.

Wilson – Circle up for a hot potato Q. COP – 20 of each called out exercise. Then on to parking lot tracers. Yes its a big parking lot.

Honeymoon – Mosey to a dark heavily wooded entrance to the horseshoe. But as we were entering the dark hole, Marmaduke heard a noise and saw some green eyes (possibly a Karen in the wild). POG grabbed a rock and tossed it in to the woods to let whatever it was, we meant business! Honeymoon unphased, explained the exercises and into the darkness he went. Bullseye and I brought up the rear to ensure safety to the PAX! THink we did 4 rounds, but my bicepts still hurt so………yeah.

Marmaduke – Runner calls out exercise and PAX performs. Two rounds – that was a larger parking lot than expected. Some wall sits then mosey back.

    Honeymoon took us out.

    Names, numbers, announcements

NMS — Great work this morning gentlemen! Talk this morning centered around how much fun ultimate was yesterday and how much pain everyone was in from that. AND schools of course. That is the big topic in Hanover right now. These are hard decisions that people have to make right now and I wouldn’t want to be in any position of leadership in the school system. Too many decisions that are difficult and don’t bring much joy. Keep praying for our students and teachers and administrators during this crazy time.

  • Beach Body Workout

Nine bronzed Chippendale look-a-likes arrived at the trimmed, professionally manicured landing strip of Huguenot Park.

COP 1 – Mosey to the plush field 3 for a quick warm up of arm circles and cherry pickers. Warm yet, lets travel a bit.

The Thang – Moseyed off site to the CJW parking lot for a quick 4 corner of merkins (hand release variety), SSH, and some other limb loosening exercises. Mumble chatter in route as we crossed over a brush pile and some small trees but no one faltered.

Back to the Pavilion for some X work. Round 1 included 25 dips (100 total) at the benches after each corner exercise of 25 (WWII’s, Carolina Dry Docks, Mountain Climbers, Jump Squats). PAX enjoyed this so much we decided to add Round 2 except 30 derkins (120 total) on the benches to get those arms pumped. Corner exercises of 30 included Heels to Heaven, Groiners, Rosalitas, American Hammers.

Still time on the clock so lets do a triple check. Mosey to the parking lot for some pole smokers, curb crawl while the timer ran the curbs. 3 rounds was not enough so lets add a 4th for good measure.

Slow Mosey back to the Flag for Numberama, Nameorama and Announcements. Prince has f3 shirts for Wojo and Posh. Wilson sent out prayers to F3 brothers and their families for recent health concerns.

NMS: At 5.25 it looked like it would be the Covid No Toll regulars until New Market came in hot at 5.30 and Fresh Prince caught up with the group on the way to COP.

Good luck to Wilson this weekend as he drops his daughter off at Wrightsville Beach for school. Kegger on the dunes next weekend.

It was great to see Rosetta give Fresh Prince and Doozy some competition this morning with both of them only lapping YHC twice in each exercise.

  • Squibber and Pancake take to the field

ULTIMATE frisbee morning at DaVille! A solid 6 v. 6 to make a very competitive and spirited game this morning.

Many good plays and many more almost good were had by young and old alike. The first 10 minutes were touch and go with the darkness, but we made it work once the sunlight got on us. Thanks to Opus for bringing a school bus full of kids out to make the numbers work.

    Announcements:
