  • Same two old men walking and talking!

YHC and Aisle 5 continue to enjoy our solo Sunday’s. While we LOVE each others conversation topics, we would be open to other topics. LOL One of today’s was how a gear was made. Aisle 5 is an incredibly smart dude. I learned so much! Good stuff dude!

We got 4.5 miles in! Same path as prior week.

  • Don’t Worry about Me

13 men ranging from one Gen Z to a couple of Baby Boomerish age got together to partake in a Fireman Ed led workout. Our War Daddy, White Deer is on his 7th knee so I tried to ensure he wasn’t running too much. Every time I asked him if it was OK if we relocate, he responded with “Don’t worry about me.”

    The workout went like this:

COP: Don Quixotes, Side straddle hops, Merkins, Arm Circles and Freddie Mercuries ending with 3 punitive burpees

Mosey to soccer field and do 4 sets of 4 corners (after a bunch of confusion about where to start and which direction to go).

    1. 10 HRMs, 20 WWIIs, 30 jump squats, 40 2 count flutter kicks
    2. 10 Carolina DDs, 20 Lt. Dans, 30 2 count mt. climbers and 40 heels to heaven
    3. 10 burpees, 20 plank jacks, 30 superman reps and 40 pickle pounders
    4. 10 squats followed by bear crawl, 20 squats, 30 squats followed by crawl bear, 40 squats

Mosey to UF Gators jungle gym, Elbow plank for one minute

Do 3 sets of 7 chin up, 11 dips, lunge to top of hill and run around pickleball courts.

Mosey to near children’s playground (that sounds creepy but no one was using the playground). Elbow plank for one minute. Then end with 30 2 count American hammers in cadence (this one had comments of disapproval), LBCs. arm circles and Don Quixotes.

Ended in prayer. Announcement is that By product and Johnsonville are biking at Pocohontas State Park on Sunday mornings. Reach out to them if you want to join them.

Even though it was not the smoothest Q, I did enjoy myself.

  • Dawg Days are Here

Welcome to the dog days of summer.  A loyal PAX tackled a muggy and humid morning in order to dominate their KBs.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 25 SSH
      • 15 IW
      • 10 DQ
      • 15 Helicopters
      • 20 merkins
      • 60 LBC
      • 20 APD
    • Mosey to the school for the following:
      • 15 donkey kicks
      • Bear crawl 20 yards to you KB
      • 15 lawnmower pulls each arm
      • Run back to the wall for a 30 second wall sit
      • Rinse and repeat 4x
    • Series of 3x checks
      • Weighted lunge walk, KB swings, sit ‘n presses
      • Run, overhead pulls, high pulls
    • COT with YHC taking us out

Great work by the PAX.  Grateful YHC did not have to do that solo.  God is good all of the time!

  • Dogpile- exitrow

28 people showed for this my VQ and in celebration of 1 year since my first post resulted in a heart attack. I since have had 2 stints put in my heart and have been working out since August last year.

  • Mont Brook run

5 mile: Pump, Crowncrest, Brookmont, Cox, Turtle Run, DRP around the back and lake, Falconbridge, Raintree, Willowbrook.

Today we did the reverse Brookmont run. Despite the hills at the end, it just does not seem as hilly in this direction. This terrain is fun because there is just the right mix of climb and descent.

    Currahee!

  • Independence Eve

5mi. Raintree to Canterbury: Chauncy, Waltham, Pump, Westcastle, Orkney Helmsdale, Stoneycreek, Turnbridge then to Whitaker Woods: Bank, Green Mt, Oakway, Carisbrook and back to Godwin. Its easier than it sounds.

Discipline is doing whats right when no one is looking. YHC needed discipline today.

NMS – Thankful for our founding fathers, while they never claimed to be perfect, set the conditions for this great country where we can work to perfect inalienable rights for all. Sic semper Tryannis!

    Currahee!

  • Captain America (Grid Iron)

Apologies for the delay, but posting Grid Iron’s July 4th Q. A patriotic group of: J’ville, Chum, Blue Moon, Biproduct, Pinto, Fireman Ed, Lighthouse, and Atilla joined me this fine morning.

After getting our hear rate up with some basic stretches in the parking lot we headed to the hill for 10 Burpies, followed by a mosey to a more comfortable turf field while on our six for a 15 minute Ab workout (25 In and Outs, 25 Bicycles forward and then backward, 25 Crunchy Frogs…bear crawl to the next station for 25 Heels to Heaven, 25 straight leg sit ups…karaokoe to the next spot for 25 V-up Rollups and 25 hip rock and raise…bear crawl to the next spot for 50 American Hammers.

Mosey back to Henrico County’s finest outdoor exercise park (strangely painted in Univ of FL blue and orange), for a Captain America (1 Pullup and 4 WWII’s, 2 Pullups and 8 WWII’s, etc. until 10 Pullups and 40 WWII’s). Follow that with a few rounds of alternating 20 dips and 10 step ups. Bookend the morning with a mosey to the hill for 10 more Burpies. It was 10 or until J’ville puked. Needless to say, we did 10. Good job J’ville. Finished with a 5 minute stretch in the shaded section of Henrico County’s newest playground in the West End. Fortunately no children were in the area to witness 9 old sweaty guys trying to hold yoga poses.

Happy Birthday America. Glad to have spent that morning with those men.

  • Tabata Diamond

YHC showed up this morning with a deck of cards, Tabata App and here is what went down:

  • CCPS Mulch budget is still flush

4 faithful made it out to Twin Team and wondered were the piles of Mulch around the school part of the Q’s plan for the beatdown? Instead we took off and did:

COP: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Don Qs, Merkins, Flutterkicks.

THE THANG: Down to the big parking lot. 4 sets of 3 lightposts. Start at 1 burpee, run to next one then do 2 Burpees, all the way up to 12th light. That’s 78 Burpees!

Over to baseball stadium: 4 rounds of: Benchkicks and Derkins. Benchkicks start at 20 then increase by 10, Derkins stay at 10 reps. Over to BWES field: Lunge across, Pickle poumders, Bernie back then 20 WWIIs. Karaoke across then Flutterkicks.

Over to playground: 4 sets of 8 Pull-ups. Then back to field for spring across, 20 HRMs, spring back then 20 more HRMs. Mosey back to flag with a few stops for bear crawl and mary. BoBerry took us out.

Announcements: Puppy Pile this Sunday, 7:00 am at NoToll. SlipNslide is rumored to make an appearance again.

NMS: Strong showing from the PAX this morning. Escalating burpees right off the bat will get the blood flowing. Doozy was already warmed up after almost hitting a deer coming into the AO. He made the burpees look easy.

Several piles of mulch sitting around BWES waiting to be spread out or played with. BoBerry, always on the lookout for a Q theme or angle, kept eyeing the piles. Both the baseball field and BWES field were in perfect condition this morning- well mowed and not too dewy. Bullseye audible’d every exercise YHC called which he said was because of an Ab injury but YHC was starting to get a complex by the end.

  • 3rd F Hot Potato

The Q for the 3rd F opened up at about 4pm, but 5 PAX posted to show that a meaningful 3rd F hot potato can be had.

There seemed to be a theme in the PAX names of single-word compound names. The next 3rd F is open to all PAX.

Prayers for YHC’s mother-in-law as she undergoes surgery today.

The next 3rd F is on Zoom on Tuesday, July 21st at 8pm. The Q is open!

The plan is to continue meeting virtually biweekly through August 18th, then transition to in-person meetings in each nano-region. YHC’s church is a resource with discussion materials and questions, so Qing is no more difficult than a regular beatdown.
