  • A Trip Down Exicon Lane

Feeling like groundhog day, the same three warriors descend upon Forest Hill Park as last Monday. When Hardywood asked what YHC did this past weekend, YHC really had to think hard because every weekend just seems to be the same thing over and over. Where’s the excitement in that. In an effort to mix it up YHC decided to paruse the good ole’ F3 Lexicon and Exicon for some fresh ideas.

What started out as a hot potato quickly became a full on Q and YHC didn’t even know it. In typical Swirley fashion, we moseyed on down to the coupon pick up zone but no coupons for us this morning. Swirley lead us in proper stretching

YHC recalls the following, some bending over and touching toes, helicopters, right foot over left foot and touch the toes and vis-a-versa, merkins, and WW2s. As Swirley went on, YHC decided to try and impress the PAX and volunteer for the next hot potato. YHC took the potato and the PAX moseyed on over to the great valley of Forest Hill Park.

Arriving at the valley YHC introduced the PAX to the run routine called Hindenberg BLIMPS which is modified version of BLIMPS. YHC further modified the routine from 6 rounds to 10, because we just wanted to be extra on a Monday morning. It goes down like this – picked four points, two on either side of the valley to make an approximate square. Round one starts out with 10 reps of an exercise at each of the four points of the square, with of course running in between to get to each corner. Started with 10 reps for round 1, then 20 reps for round 2, 30 reps for round 3, and you quickly get the picture here, on up to 10 rounds. The exercises for each round was as follows:

    1. Burpees
    2. WW2s
    3. Plank Jacks
    4. Imperial Walkers
    5. Side Straddle Hops
    6. Freddie Mercury’s
    7. Group Merkins – PAX split up all 70 (24 each)
    8. Single Count Mountain Climbers
    9. High Knees
    10. Victory Lap – No reps, just run as fast as you can touching each corner

Some of the ones in the middle were a bit fuzzy to YHC due to the extremeness of this workout.

YHC tried to hand off the Q to Hardywood with just seconds to spare to try and get out of writing the BB, but Hardywood was too smart for those shenanigans. YHC moseyed the PAX back to the start and lead everyone in some final exercises that consisted of Wilson’s, Fudd’s, and finished out with the Have-a-Nice-Day in the cool grass while the rain fell on our faces.

  • Satan Hill/New Market Tour

Three New Market regulars and two new additions woke and decided to tackle Satans Hill “official” launch. YHC rolled up right on time and we got started. A short COP and then came the options……………

Boberry chose option 2! Learn from Wilson….don’t pick option 2! LOL That drove the PAX to mosey to the bottom of Satans Hill. YHC passed the option to Nancy Lopez to pick what we did on the Hill! He chose Suicides….all the way up and back. FOur exercises on the way up. BRUTAL!

Round two of the workout – four corners which turned into a short tour of New Market PAX homes. 10 Burpees, 20 Burpees, 30 jump squats & 40 merkins.

Round three was a signature NM ground & pound. Grab a rock and 10 of each called out exercise from the PAX. Run to the stop sign in between each round. Superman – come on Rosetta!?

Sprint to the end of the parking lot to finish the workout.

YHC took us out. Great job today fellas. I enjoyed the beating. Be sure to update the passports and return as there is sooooo much more Satans Hill has to offer!

Numberama, Namerama, Socially Distanced COT. YHC took us out.

NMS: YHC confused Pickle Ball with the Gaga Pit, thus Pickle Pit, which we think may be a seedy bar in Tampa.

  • Feels normal again

23 PAX made their way out to Dogpile to safely gather in Phase 2. Temps in the 60s with low humidity made it for perfect beatdown conditions.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial walkers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Mosey down to Backstage block storage to retrieve and drop blocks. Leave them there, down to Rusty Cage. Triple check of: Burp-Ups, Dips, and run to blocks – 10 Squats, then back.

Head down Pipe Loop for a Proper Dora: 10 Merkins, 20 WWIIs, 30 Jump Squats. Then up the hill back to Rugby. BoxCutters and Squats to gather the pax. Bottom of Rugby partner up: Bear Crawl catch me if you can. 3 burpees then run up to crawler. Back to flag then quick mary til we hit 7:00.

NMS: Today felt like Dogpile like normal for the first time in a while. New Market back in the mix with their mumbechatter (really just Wilson) and a large PAX over 20.

Hitchhiker took a spill on the pipe loop and several PAX helped him up and out. Flipper busted out some Mr. Miagi magic on his foot and looks like he’ll be ok. Rumor has it Bodos also blessed Hitch’s ankle with holy water since he disappeared. Qs feel like they have to use the PipeLoop in the limited summer weeks where we have daylight but then remember how much it sucks. 5 trips through per PAX was enough.

Good to have some newer PAX out like Zillow and Winehouse. YHC promptly was told to shave of the stache upon his arrive home.

  • Not punishment

Two showed for this week’s Punisher. Mosey around the school driveway for COP with 25 x Invisible Jump Ropes, 15 x Helicopters, 15 x Don Quixotes, 15 x Russian Soldiers, and Arm Circles.

Continue the mosey into the Laburnum-facing, tree-covered school yard for a deconstructed, all-Burpee Half Beast. Complete six Burpees and follow with 40 mobile Imperial Walker steps across the lawn. At this new point, complete six Burpees again and 40 IWs back. Finish 18 rounds for 108 Burpees while covering about 300 yards of ground.

Hit the grass for Lindsays alternating Hello Dollys and Flutter Kicks (two count). You know – begin with 30 of one and 10 of the other and adjust by 5 reps. Follow with Elevens alternating Curtsey Lunges (two count) and Slow Squats. Finish with Merkin Medley starting with 11 reps and finishing with 1 rep and working through Merkins, Wide Grip Merkins, Close Grip Merkins, and Carolina Dry Docks.

Remain in the grass for a few minutes of stretching then return to the parking lot. COT and YHC took us out.

We then start the Tabata (The name Tabata comes from the man who invented it – Dr. Izumi Tabata, a Japanese physician and researcher. He conducted a study using an interval-based training model. His objective was to see if athletes would benefit from a 20/10 session repeated eight times.

went around the group twice and below are the excercises:
