NMS — When YHC arrived this morning, there was a truck I didn’t recognize (ended up being Byproduct) and not one but two sheriff’s deputies asking him what’s going on. After they frisked him and handcuffed him. we began the workout. JK. All was good thankfully no one was arrested and we were able to workout in compliance with the mandate from the governor. Good to have Xabi join us today — he is a young college student who is a fan of Man U. His nickname is a player from Liverpool (rival team). Pronounce shAH-bee.

Announcement — sign up for the run a mile challenge. here is the link.

      • Please welcome Cleveland to Daville.
  • Beautiful morning for a semi-old fart to Q

8 able bodied individuals took note of a morning in the upper 50s to partake a workout at Hoedown. The Q, me just celebrated a birthday to solidify his status in the upper 40s club.

Finish with 47 American hammers and a round of Mary with merkins.

We closed with no announcements (not sure whether the PAX were pooped or sleepy) but closed with prayer. Need to pray for those suffering from COVID either knowing someone who has it, losing their job because of it or their job has changed for the worse because of it. Keep praying and we shall overcome with the help of the one who truly calls the shots. Also prayers are with White Deer as he goes through surgery today.

    God bless,

    Fireman Ed.

  • “Are you here for that workout thing?”

Two men arrived at The Last Resort…one of them not sure what to think of the flyer that appeared in his mailbox over the weekend. YHC didn’t scare him off, and so it was on:

Take a lap around the parking lot, then COP: SSH, Don Quixote, Russian Soldiers, American Hammers, copperhead squats, merkins.

Mosey to the bus ramp for a return of last week’s AquaBear (bear crawl the length of the bus ramp, with a burpee at each column).

Mosey to the playground for a modified triple check: one man completes a bouldering lap around the climbing wall while the other performs stationary exercise – LBCs, squats, flutter kicks.

Mosey to the blacktop for Four Corners: 10 burpees, 20 merkins, 30 mt. climbers, 40 WWIIs, with lunges in between.

Mosey to the jerkin gym: 3 sets of 8.

Mosey back to the parking lot for a quick 11’s, featuring monkey humpers and merkins. Back to the “flag” for FNG’s name.

FNG Winston is finishing his final semester at Randolph Macon, while working for a conservative political campaign consulting group. “Churchill” really wrote itself. YHC did not ask him whether he was prepared to fight them on the beaches.

The Last Resort has had a slow launch thus far. It was great to see seasoned PAX come out for its opening day, but the rain kept any potential FNGs away. This week, more flyers went around the neighborhood, but only one answered the call, and no veterans. This part of town has been lacking an AO, but YHC can’t do it alone! Who do you know in the Glen Allen area? This week, reach out to that guy and bring him with you to The Last Resort next Monday!

    YNWA,
    -Mr. Holland

  • Four Horsemen

Four southside regulars posted for a quick jaunt down Robious.

Negative splits – out 23 minutes and back 22. Running west along the new(ish) walking path on Robious, across the bridge and returning the same way you came.

Great job pax. This particular path is sneaky as it’s downhill out and uphill back. YHC quickly realized upon crossing the first bridge and the end of the walkway that Robious towards 288 is no bueno to run on. Props to OC for making it to 288 and back. Next time some additional steps will be added to keep the Robious portion on the walkway.

Good to have some casual conversation. Stay safe and healthy.

    -Singer

  • Factoid of the Day

7 two-legged steeds assembled in the late Gloom for a dawn-time launch. Temps were sunny and 70 with a touch of fog. Breaking all norms and traditions, the PAX launched at 06:59 a.m. (in order to remain 6+ feet ahead of the construction crew intent on flaunting the “small groups only” rules).

Routes were south bank, T. Pottersfield, and return on North Bank.

Group sized jumped to 8 when Hitchhiker, true to his name, joined up en route, having had the audacity to be ready to start at 07:00 a.m. Glad you could make it.

Along the way, the counter-clockwisers met Snuff, Hardywood, & Co. going clock-wise on their version of Dirt Church (Dirt Cemetery? Dirt Animal Farm?)…

Number-am-a, Name-a-ram-a, YHC took us out with a reminder to be patient as lots of folks are adjusting to the new ways of the world.

    Announcements:

TYA turned 20,829 days old yesterday. Good to be alive, my brother. He also became, to YHC’s knowledge, the first F3RVA member to be ejected from ET’s. “You all can stay. But HE (pointing at TYA) has to go.” ‘Bout time.

Also, did you know that at the beginning of WWII, the FBI spent 3 years sitting in front of a house in Pennsylvania? Why did they do that? This, and other bizarre trivia came not from YHC, but from an unexpected and unsolicited visitor in front of ETs (who alleged himself to be a nurse). Moral: Ask for Flatline when you check into the hospital.

  • Caught from Behind

Three studs launched, five studs finished. 4 miles round trip, ET’s to DogPile, DogPile to ET’s. LIFO1, Hardlywood, caught the PAX about to turn on Robinson, LIFO2, aka the 4th or is it 5th F, Flipper, caught the PAX at the AO.

  • Gridiron goes to Prison

A perfectly legal 10 PAX came out to Gridiron expecting rain. Instead we got perfect weather. Here is how it went:

Ample Distance COP: SSH, Russian Soldiers, Don Qs, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey over to Pickle Ball courts:

Pax take a half of pickle ball court for Prison Cell workout. 4 sets of each exercise with runs and Peoples chair in between

1st Round: 4 sets of 20 Jump Squats, 15 Merkins.

    2nd Round: 10 WWIIS, 15 2ct Mountain Climbers

    3rd Round: 20 Carolina Dry Docks, 15 Heels2Heaven

4th Round: 20 Ball Dippers, 20 Pickle Pounders

    5th Round: 5 Burpees & 5 Burpees

Back to football field – Full field suicide, then bear crawl to mid field then run rest, repeato. Down to bottom field: 4 sets of 5 Pullups.

NMS – There was talk of splitting the PAX as we had 10 and wondered if 1 more would how, 7:00 came and we had the legal limit 10 PAX. The pickle ball courts divided everyone up to appropriate distance. The overall sets and rounds took up most of the time. Glad Chum was there to enjoy the prison cell time.

Welcome FNG Gremlin, son of Pinto, who put in solid work. Atilla is well into his playoff beard. Fireman Ed looks to be back to 100% after his injury recovery.
