  • Exactly Ten

    Pursuant to the Governor’s State of Emergency Order, ten cautiously optimistic F3RVAers posted to see what YHC had in store. Masks on:

    Mosey to Police Monument for COP: Tom Brady = 20 eaaaasy Helicopters plus 2 nonsensical Burpees / Imperial Walkers x 10 / Russian Soldiers x 10 / WWIIs x 10 / Scorpion Kicks x 10 / HR Merkins OYO x 10. Mosey to Cary Elementary

    High Energy Dora: Round 1 – HR Merkins x 100. Round 2 – Flutter Kicks x 200. Round 3 – Swing Planks (200) and Freddy Mercurys (100).

    Mid-Stream Stretches

    Mosey to Water Treatment Hill AKA Stink Hill for Triple Nickel. Bernie Sanders up the hill. Jump Squats x 5. Back down the hill. Round 1 – LBCs. Round 2 – Mountain Climbers. Round 3 – SSHs.

    Mosey back to Police Monument the long way. Speaking of old NFL guys who should retire, but instead continue to make poor decisions (TB12), Jason Witten is now a Vegas Raider. Burpees x 3 OYO.

    BTTF

    NMS: It was nice to get off campus today and see tons of people out (in small, appropriately spaced out, groups) enjoying the nice weather and appropriate camaraderie. I for one needed the 2.5 miles that we accumulated during the beatdown.

    As we continue to pass through uncharted territory, let us all be mindful of those truly in need; of those who may be scared and unsure. Our parents, our kids, our friends, whoever it may be, let’s do all we can to help them through. Let us lead by example, and make those decisions that are best for everyone, even if we may not agree.

    Welcome Smaht Pahk. Nice to see you hand it to your old man, Pucker, this morning. An infusion of young blood is always good for this group.

    Have a great day men, and be safe!

  • COVID 6 & 10

    COVID 6 & 10

    Ironically enough six PAX joined up at SOT to get the heart pumping and release some energy.

    Mosey to parking lot- SSH, Don Q, Merkins, LBC

    Indigenous people run down to football field – remain 6 ft apart during run.

    Beast – PAX called exercises – one-legged Bullseye squats, flutters, reverse crunches, jump squats, merkins, burpees

    Ring of Fire around soccer goal – hand release merkins and merkins (10), plank. WWII situps, legs 30, 60 and 90 degrees, two rounds (10)

    Triple check up paved hill. Run, backwards run, run. Peoples Chair and Freddies.

    Moleskin: YHC noticed another Q open and decided to run with it. Obvious theme with the 6 & 10 – social distancing at 6 feet and groups of no more than 10. As suggested we may need to curb or break up our groups if they continuously get over 10. Some food for thought.

    On the bright side, 19 year old Riley FNG joined today with Bullseye. Being a pledge, the PAX ran with names from Old School and Animal House, settling on Flounder as the pledge/legacy from a classic which he very may not have seen yet. Welcome Flounder.

  • Dosing normal

    Three posted for this week’s Punisher. We said hey at a comfortable distance in the Holton parking lot and moseyed at 6 PM sharp into the grass at the western end of the school for the initial triangle: 25 x SSHs, 15 x IWs, 15 x Helicopters, 15 x DQs, 15 x Hillbillies, and 10 x Susan Somers (each way).

    Mosey back to the parking lot and pick non-adjacent parking spaces for Social Distancing practice, beginning with 19 seconds (PAX take turns counting aloud) of Bear Crawl within our spaces, 19 Merkins, 19 Squats, and 19 Reverse Crunches. Lunge to another non-adjacent space and complete 18. And so on, moving between spaces and through 11 reps (and three rounds of counting Bear Crawls). At 10 reps, stay put and switch exercises to 10 seconds of Crab Walk (counting aloud again), 10 Carolina Dry Docks, 10 Back Lunges (single count), and 10 American Hammers (single). 9 reps next round and so on down to 2 reps. At one rep, 4 Burpees, then move out of our parking spaces.

    Move to the school wall for a Triple Check with People’s Chair, Rosalitas, and a run to the parking lot entrance and back.

    Slide around the corner of the school and triangle up for Elbow Plank medley. Alternating PAX count beginning with 40 seconds of Elbow Plank followed by 10 second break. Three rounds with breaks. Follow with 30 seconds, alternating and with same break length between. Then 20 seconds, alternating. At 10 seconds, completed Pickle Pounders from Elbow Plank, again alternating and with breaks.

    Roll over and finish with a few minutes of stretching. Triangle of Trust with 6 feet of spacing. YHC took us out.

    Current real world affairs feel heavy and distort the view. Forty-five minutes of normal is a big help. Nice job guys.

  • Silver and Gold I have none but what I do have I give freely

    16 Irish looking hooligans broke through the dark of No Toll with Olivander coming in hot as he usually does. They where looking for a treasure that was said to be hidden somewhere in the four leaf clover filled fields at this amazing AO. Here is basically how things went.

    COP

    Mosey to the basketball court for DQ’s, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, LBC’s and Sugar Sticks

    Mosey to the first field on the left and get to know the Irish prostitute

    First corner 10 WWII, second corner 20 American Hammers, third corner 30 jump squats and forth corner 40 squats

    Pick up the 6 and mosey to the pavilion

    Let the hunt begin

    YHC broke the PAX into three groups and had made arrangements with Gumbo and Rosie to lead two of the groups. Rosie texted YHC this morning that he had been up all night and not feeling well so Bullseye stepped up to take a team. YHC gave each leader a map and instructed the PAX teams to head to a corner for their instructions. Three teams four corners leaves one corner with a built in penalty. If your team had to ask for the team leader to look at the map it would cost the team 10 burpees. YHC’s team chose the wrong corner to start and had 5 penalty burpees after that they had to go to the open corner to get the right instructions. Each card had instructions to the next corner and a list of 3 sets of 10 each different exercises. third set of instructions lead to the treasure which was hidden in the little library box by the playground. Bullseyes team was the overall winner and found Doozy’s most valuable treasure, his Bible. Once the entire PAX met up Marmaduke attempted to read Matthew 13:44 but was confused by YHC’s study Bible and read the notes for 13:14. YHC helped out by reading it to the PAX “The Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again , and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”

    Numbers / Names YHC took us out

    NMS:

    YHC wanted to have fun on St Patty’s day but also felt lead by the Spirit to hide his most valuable possession rather than a fake pot of gold or what we had originally thought of asking POG to dress in all green and have him pop out of a box and take off running. YHC can’t fully tell you about his past in this BB but from what he was to who he is, is as far as the East is from the West and its all because of what he found in the pages of his Bible. I beg you if you don’t believe just read it with an open mind, if I am wrong about what I believe it’s of little significance but if I am right as I know I am, its the single most important decision you could ever make. I love everyone of you guys and I pray for nothing but the best for you and your families.

  • Shut the F Up and Run

    11 braved the pandemic and exceeded the capacity for group settings to run it out.

    All PAX take the bat cave across the bridge and head west/upstream/to the right. Out in 22 minutes, back in 23.

    Felt like a holiday with everyone milling about afterwards. Apparently people are not eager to head back to the house for quarantine (cough Saab cough). Solid run folks, basically the flattest you can get out of Spider Run per Swirl, perhaps that’s why YHC claims it a few times a year. Thanks to Bleeder for the title, making reference to the shirt Saab should don at all running events.

    Congrats to the Belmonte folks! To the wee bit of Irish in all of us, Happy Saint Paddy’s Day! Pints on me!

  • Nothing gets the numbers up like a Quarantine

    Eight PAX came out HBR wondering if a St. Patty’s Day theme was in store. Actually most pax forgot what day it is but we stayed safe and found a beatdown:

    COP: Wider distance of SSH, Don Qs, Russian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks – real ones that loosen your back up

    Mosey to the Honeysuckle hill for 11s: Burpees at top, WWIIs at the bottom. Head over to Donkey Kick Wall for: 4 rounds of: Donkey Kicks, run blacktop, HRMs. Increase #s each round. Down to the Jerkin Gym.

    4 Sets of 8 Jerkins. Circle up for some Mary then 2 times up Heartbreak hill with Jumpsquats at top and WWIIs at bottom. Back to flag. Safe Space COT and out.

    NMS: YHC received a lot of grief from the other regulars (Atilla & Handshake) since his attendance at the home AO has been sparse with the winter tour. It was good to be back.

    It was great to see Howler out with his dad. Not a bad idea to get kids out of the house and tire them out in a supervised manner. Ronnie seemed to love the Scorpion Kicks. Pucker’s knee was feeling sore so he opted for a good Bootcamp rather than his normal Spider Run.

    YHC did the math in his head and Jerkins at the Jerkin Gym were reasonable distance partner work. Lots of mumblechatter on Pucker’s relative bone density. Probation, Garbage Plate, and Handshake set the pace. Stay safe all.

  • Tuckahoe runs North

    5 Davillians/Tuckahoe PAX got in some miles on this not so normal Monday

    The PAX headed out together on the Craney Island/Giles route getting in 4.5 to 4.75 miles depending on speed

    Lite mumble chatter this morning other than the new normal talk regarding COVIN-19

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • Batteau or Bust

    Numbers were light this morning but the motivation and mumble chatter was high this morning. In typical Batteau fashion the potato showed up to Q and we were off and running.

    Swirly started everyone out at the tennis courts with some windmills, don quixotes, lighting stretching, planks, reach for the skys, reach for the toes, and merkins.

    The kids moseyed over to the playground and proceeded to wipe it down with cholrox wipes. At the playground we did 3 rounds of 5x pullups, 10x decline merkins, and 15x dips. Rinse and repeat. Then we headed over to the picnic tables for snack time. Snack time had us doing 3 rounds of dips, step-ups, and incline merkins.

    YHC was passed the potato and we moseyed on down the trail taking us on the full tour of Batteau. On the uphills we stopped intermittently to do 5x burpees, then on the up hills we continued to stop intermittently to do 5x burpees. Moseyed all the way doing the burpees here and there until we got to the steps of doom. Proceeded to bear crawl up steps and do lunges on the sections without steps. All the way to the landing, 5 more burpees, then finished out the remainder of the steps doing bear crawl.

    YHC didn’t want to hog all the fun so handed off the potato to Flatline. We moseyed on down to the bottom of the hill (always a YHC favorite!). Triple check ensued with LBCs, lunges, and running to the top of the hill. The LBC location would move with the transition point of the lunges. When everyone had done one round we finished out with bear crawls to the top. Flatline took us down to the bowl area and we did 50 step-ups to round out the morning.

    Headed back to the flag for COT where we adhered to the new COT procedures. We did numbers, names, announcements, and Flatline took us out with some kind and inspiring words.

    Have a wonderful Monday everyone and stay safe and healthy out there!

  • I ❤️ Pandas

    5 mighty men started a new week the right way at Hoedown this morning. Here’s how it happened:

    COP: Mosey to the bottom of Lindsay. Deadman hang // Helicopters // DQs // Imperial Walkers // LBCs // Merkins // SSHs 21s (count to 5 in Candace, to 21 silently in our heads, all stop at the same time, Handshake messed up so we did 5 burpees).

    Up the Hill: parter up. P1 runs to the top of Lindsay and back to P2, while P2 does lunges. Switch. Next round: Broad jumps. Next round: Bear Crawl. All the way to the top of the hill. Mosey to blacktop.

    7 of Diamonds: On the blacktop, run from corner to corner, 7 burpees in each corner // Next round: 14 two count flutter kicks in each corner // 21 merkins // 28 squats // 21 carolina dry docks // 14 WW2s // 7 Burpees. Mosey to field.

    Triple Check: P1: Donkey Kicks // P2: Dips on bench // P3: run to monkey bars, 5 pull ups, run back.

    Numberama, Namerama, Socially Distanced COT

    Announcements: Doozy has the Q at No Toll tomorrow, come prepared for a St Patty’s day treasure hunt

  • River Run Mash-up

    10 PAX (and 1 4-legged mile-slayer (Annie)) posted to log some miles and kickoff this unusual work week in the most normal way we know how – River Run. YHC was thrilled to see 9 other PAX to share some miles and fellowship with – and I almost lost them during the route instructions.

    YHC mashed up a couple traditional routes (the OG Tarrington Route, the Powderham loop and the Brigstock Out and Back) to make a new big loop that touched all 3 areas. Apologies for several turns, gents. It went like this:

    • Left out of BWES toward the River then a Right into Tarrington;
    • Left at roundabout on Welby and immediate Right on Sherfield;
    • RIGHT on Ashwell Drive and head uphill to Robious;
    • Left and across Robious to Ellesmere and into Powderham;
    • Left at first intersection onto Drakewood;
    • Follow Drakewood around the half-moon circle back to Ellesmere (it changes to Bosham and then to Glendower in the process);
    • Left on Ellesmere and take it to the end where it Ts into E. Brigstock;
    • Right E. Brigstock to Twin Team;
    • Left on Twin Team and BTTF – either directly or around the school or wherever the hell Rosie went…

    COT (distantly), Number-rama, Name-a-Rama and YHC took us out.

    Prayers for Doublemint and his family. His father passed away Saturday while in hospice care.

    Prayers also for those we know and love who are dealing with hardships or uncertainty in the face of the Coronavirus. Prayers also for all of our healthcare workers, especially hospital and ER workers who don’t get to work from home.

    Let’s help each other get through this. Let’s support our local businesses with carryout orders or gift cards. Let’s support those less fortunate than us in any way we can. And, let’s take this seriously and make smart decisions to help stem the tide.

    Have a great day men!

    No More Gumbo For You!
