  • No Lights on at DK’s House…

    5 River Run faithful (and Annie) showed up for the promised trip to DK’s house – 4 made it; 1 took a wrong turn.

    Twin Team provided the gut-punch wake-up call, along with the brisk wind, but once we reached the summit, Rosie and Annie controlled the pace and Honeymoon and YHC didn’t know who was pushing who or why we were trying to keep up.

    After arriving at DK’s house, bday donuts were calling Rosie, so he found yet another gear and went supersonic…much to Annie’s dismay. She was stuck with our dead weight – and added one as LugNut closed in and caught up to us.

    We reunited with Marmaduke (our directionally challenged PAX member today) back on Twin Team after he looped Powderham in multiple directions.

    Tuck and roll down Twin Team and back to the flag for a Monday morning after 5 to kick the work-week off right.

    Well done men! Happy birthday to Rosie’s 2.0!

    The Batteau gloom accepted resumes from seven wanna-be Shakira back-up dancers this morning. Wearing a hot pink leopard print spandex g-string unitard, Flatline stole the show, but despite great efforts by all to flawlessly pull off the following routines, they were saddened to learn the absentee Hardywood had already won the coveted position with a mail-in VHS shakeweight snuff film produced by his side-kick Houdini (…or is he gonna stick with Snuff…?).

Glad to have Draper with me this week to complete a standard version Corporate Challenge. Thanks for leading us out in prayer today bro!
  • TD and Extra Point at OTB

    7 2-legged OTB regulars and 1 4-legged regular posted for a Super Bowl Sunday morning workout. 2 walked, 2 ran their own routes and the remaining 4 set off on a 7-mile route that included a couple good hills and the old faithful trail through the woods and, in the end, created a shape very close to the great state of Louisiana…it was all good!

    Coffeeteria and fellowship back at Starbucks and everyone was off on their merry way.

    PS – LugNut continues to slay the miles…

  • Three Men and a Dog

    Three harriers plus one four legged mutt naked Parker met at the usual spot for Sunday Funday. The crew headed out on the north bank towards Belle Isle, did a lap around the island then headed back on the south bank over the nickel bridge and back to the parking lot. All in all we did about 7.4 miles. It was a good run. Numbers and names. EF took us out.

    BUILD A BURPEE BEAST REVERSO: This looked good on paper. Stay with me here, you’ll probably want to get your medication first. You know what a beast is (6 rounds of 6 exercises going to the 25 yard line, 50 yard line, 75 yard line, end zone, back to 75 yard line, 50 yard line, 25 yard line, back to start. YHC attempted some version of a building beast reverso. The effort was great, the execution was meh. It felt alot like all those years when the Bills kept losing Super Bowl after Super Bowl.

    Round 1: 25 yard line for 6 Sit Up Presses (SUP) then run back to start.

    Round 2: 25 yard line for SUP, 50 for 6 SUP 6 merkins with left hand (MLH)on coupon, back to 25 for 6 SUP

    Round 3: 25 yard line for SUP, 50 for 6 SUP 6 merkins with left hand (MLH)on coupon, 75 yard line 6 SUP, 6 MLH, 6 merkin right hand (MRH), back to 25 for 6 SUP, 50 for 6 SUP 6 merkins with left hand (MLH)on coupon, 25 yard line for SUP

    Round 4: Hold on to your hats, this is the part where the sausage gets made. Stay with YHC here.

    • 25, 50, 75, to end back to 75, then again to the end and back to the 75, 50, 20, back to start. The exercise added was squats. Even people who are professional gerrymanderers think this was stupid.

    Round 5: An audible was made, removing the back and forth nonsense of the last round. This time

    • 25, 50, 75, to the end and back to 75, 50 and back to start for 5 exercise stops total. Added 2 count American Hammers

    Round 6: Straight up burpees, bonus points for using coupons.

    Mosey back to stage and put up coupons.

    Head to the bottom of the Valley of Doubt and partner up.

    SHACKELTONS:

    Partner up. On partner starting at the bottom begins to crawl bear with the destination being the gates at the top of the hill. The other partner completes 3 burpees and runs to the crawl bear partner. They switch, with one partner running back down to the bottom of The Valley Of Doubt to complete their 3 burpees. Repeat this cycle until team reaches the gates at the top.

    Mosey back to the flag. Numberama, namerama and the Meg Ryan of the Southside, Mr. DTH himself led us out.

    10 Road Warriors rocked the first breakfast club of the month! 1 went out, rode back! Strong work Gents.

  • Right Angles

    It was a full parking lot at the AO this morning in the gloom with record numbers of RAMM’s faithful as well as those on tour.

    We headed east on Grove, north on Hamilton, south on Westwood/Malvern, and west on Patterson. Yep, it looks like a big right angle.

    4s turned south on Westmoreland, 5s on Lexington, and 6s on Seneca all taking Grove eastbound to the shovel flag.

    TYA took us out.

    Announcements: Shakedown is looking for running volunteers at the Healing Place on Saturday mornings to help those training for the Monument 10K.

  • Everyone is the Q

    5 Super Bowl ready warriors showed up to Twin Team this morning. The Q sheet had WOJO until about 2 days ago and then went blank. With no Q the hot potato was called.
