  • Stopping by Commons on a Rainy Morning

    Image result for rainy road"

Whose roads these are I think I know
    Ten men with TYA thinking he was the bro;
Splinter trumps, all PAX belt out a cheer
Intervals were the way to geaux.

Turning left up Ridgeway to the top we steer
    Three times repeating YHC commandeered
Roads were a river, almost a lake
Difficult, but not quite Mount Rainier.

Back down Roselawn, we jiggle, we shake
    TYA glasses turned opaque.
Only two times up that Roselawn heap
Then turn right for goodness sake.

Three times up Toana and nary a peep,
U-Turn down Campus needing a Jeep,
Two times up Bostwick before I sleep,
Two times up Bostwick before I sleep.

  • Glue

We had a PAX of a dozen, mostly in short sleeves and shorts, post for Saturday’s GridIron. Advertised as walking-boot friendly in pre-workout communications, we aimed to please and stayed together for the morning.

Ratio of 1 Merkin to 4 Overhead Presses to 8 Arm Circles. Increase reps each round, ending with 10/40/80. PAX choice of mixing forward and reverse Arm Circles.

Slide to nearby bleachers for 11s beginning with 10 Dips and 1 Bench Kick and adjusting reps each round to finish with the inverse.

Move to the fieldhouse wall and get in Plank position. First guy completes 8 Donkey Kicks while the others hold Plank. Rotate the Donkey Kicks through the PAX for round 1. Round 2, hold reverse plank and rotate Donkey Kicks through the PAX once again.

Adjust position to the edge of the parking lot for Jack Webb w/ Chaser variant involving a ratio of 1 WWII Sit Up, 4 Reverse Crunches, and 8 Little Baby Crunches. Add reps each round and finish with 10/40/80.

Finished about a round and a half. Remained in circle for COT and Attila took us out. Coffee afterwards at our usual spot.

    Welcome Copperhead. Nice job guys.

  • Powderham Loops

5 warriors survived this weekend’s Divisional Playoff games and swung their legs out of the bed in time to assemble for some miles at River Run.

    THANG

    Run up Twin Team

    Turn into Powderham

Run as many small or large loops as possible.

Descend back down Twin Team with about 10 min to go.

Total miles run ranged from 4.5-5+

COT – Upchuck took us out.

    Naked Moleskin

2 large loops were all the front runners could manage, and we were still 2-3 minutes late returning to the flag.

Great conversation with Upchuck and Doublemint once we were on the flat streets of Powderham.

  • OTB PSA

A fine group of Southside RVA residents gather to mosey around Midlothian and afterward cause a ruckus in a local Starbucks. A larger walking group, led by the return of Aisle 5 and a couple 2.0s, got some good mileage in on the balmly Sunday morning. Runners headed to familiar RiverRun territory hitting Brigstock Road before returning. Conversation at Starbucks on Hermie’s Dentistry signage chased out a cross-fitter hoping to sit down with a laptop and a cup of coffee.

For those on the winter tour or just looking to get some winter milesor 2nd F in, OTB starts at 6 am and is now located at the brand new Starbucks, 1151 Winterfield Crossing Drive. There is a running option, 6ish miles in an hour. And a walking option for those hoping to solve the world’s problems at a slower pace while enjoying some top notch 2nd F.

Welcome back Aisle 5 and Exit Row (2 days in a row), also great to see Beaker. Wilson is onto something with leading this non-running group.

  • The Far Corner

10 strong gathered in the Hoedown gloom this morning for some Monday morning fun. Here’s how it went:

Warmup – Mosey to Tuckahoe front yard for SSH x 20, DQ x 10, IW x 10, 5 Burpees OYO, Wide grip Merkins 10x, Superman 10x.

The meat and potatoes – Mosey to a prior unknown Hoedown region; the Far Corner (the hill and clearing along Lindsay Drive beyond the parking lot). Start with a set of 11’s on the hill, jog down and Bernie on the way up with HRM’s and Copperhead Squats. Followed up with 30x decline partner WWII’s on the hill then alternate wheelbarrow back to the parking lot.

After departing the Far Corner we had opportunity for three (3) five minute stations. A running 5 minute clock was started at each station with an ascending count (2…4…6…8….. until time is called), each partner alternating exercises.

Station 1 (gaga pit): Dips with recovery flutter kicks

Station 2 (back field): Donkey Kicks with recovery plank

Station 3 (front sign): Burpees with recovery Al Gore

Mosey to the flag for a minute of American hammers & reverse crunches.
