  • Stampede!

17 stallions arrived extra early this morning in anticipation of the route. A quick overview was provided and off we went.

Down Lakeview/Westhampton Way towards the batcave, taking Ridgeway. Take a right on Fairway View and keep on going as the name changes to Robin and then Iris.

Cross Three Chopt and stay on York taking a left on Maple. At Patterson, take a left and pound out the long gradual uphill to Three Chopt. Keep going.

4s/5s take a left on Horsepen to cut through the fraternity gate, across the parking lot by the baseball field and to the lake back to the VSF. 5s take an additional lap of the lake.

6s continue on Patterson taking a left on Westham Parkway. Take a left on University Drive, pick up the trail at College and back to the VSF with a finishing loop of the lake.

    Marv took us out.

This route seemed to be a crowd favorite. So much so that Bleeder didn’t want to leave the route and extended his run. This will have to come back soon as a part of the rotation, perhaps even with a name (that’s when a route truly becomes a classic).

On the Iris climb, the Pax ran right into a pack of 25 or so fast runners coming down, all with headlights. It was like running into a flock of birds. Everyone had different approaches. Move to the side, standing one’s ground like a rock, or weaving through the pack.

It was great to get out to Daville this morning. I’ve been searching for the right day to make the trek and today was a perfect day. Always fun to get out and explore a new AO. Thanks to the Daville crew + Double Mint for allowing YHC to lead, even though you guys were counting weird at points.

Appreciate the love out there today. There were definitely a few “sighs of joy” when announcing the exercises we were performing. YHC can only assume those were sounds of endearment.

Big Data corrected a lot of data yesterday but today it’s all about chalking one up in the Daville column for Splinter.

It was great to take the Q out at Heartbreak. It has been a minute since I Q’d there. At first, I thought it might just be a foursome of Handshake, Offshore, Attila and me. But, then Shakedown, Garbage Plate and later, Flipper, rolled in. So perfect to start with 7 as YHC recently read the 7 of Diamonds routine and wanted to give it a try. I had other things on the menu, but he 7oD turned out to be a one hit wonder today. No worries, I think we got everything we needed out of it.

Strong work me. I enjoyed it.

No More Gumbo For you…until MannDate!

Numbers and names YHC took us out

    NMS:

Mumble chatter was at a high as it usually is for a (Boot Camp) Doozy Q. YHC was at Wilton House for an outdoor concert on Saturday with the M and stopped by the AO to verify the run portion was not toooooo long. The original plan was for the run to go around the school but alas YHC decided to shorten the run at the blacktop only. We finished the Ball and Chain with time for another exercise so maybe there needed to be one or two more parking spaces used (YHC knew not to extend the run). Note to self!!!

Thank you Handshake or Handclap ? for keeping the time machine going this morning.

Thank you Loose Goose for going after the 6 when YHC missed the opportunity

Thanks to all my F3 brothers for your encouragement, kind words and just for being good human beings in a world of so many inhumane beings. you bring out the best in me and those around you, keep the light shining.

  • Partner Up SOJ

15! Yes 15 runners from the North and South arrived “North of the Wall” to enjoy a Sunny and 70 Monday morning run.

Route was the Craney Island/Giles Combo.

Head out onto Atlee Station, turn into Craney Island neighborhood on DeWitt Rd. Head to the back of the neighborhood for a little down/up hill run.

4 milers – Head back the way they came and did a loop in the Giles down and back

5 milers – Loop around Craney Island, a loop around Cool Spring Baptist, then head to Giles for a loop down and back

Glad to have SOJ/New Market joins us this morning. YHC was worried they would outnumber us at one point but the full Colonial 70 team came out ready.

Apologizes to the 5 milers this morning. YHC is still working on this route so we got in a little overtime today

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • 5 Runners, 5 Routes

YHC arrived to even out the numbers so that there was not a Tuckahoe takeover. With no Q on the books, Kubota looked and said,”What da ya think?” Hills were necessary for BRR runners and Lug came in screaming hot with Bullseye circling back to scoop him.

Simple Route=Out and Back-Up Twin Team, R on Brigstock and you versus you. Some PAX went 4, some 4.5, one 5 and add in extra hills!! BOOM!

Numberama, Name-r-ama, Announcements: Orange Crush and family need prayers do to his 2.0 having injuries that requirement immobilization and being home bound. Not life threatening but definitely slowing up a 12 yr old boy for the short term.

    YHC took us out.

NMS: Super to see Kubota and Honeydo cross the river for a little SOJ hill run. Bullseye, thanks for circling back around to scoop YHC. Lug Nut, dude you are killing it so keep it up my friend.

We are blessed to start our week in such a wonderful way. Shine the light!

    Only Those Who Post Understand.

    Loud and Proud,

    Flatline

  • Beautiful day in the neighborhood

4 of SOJs finest and a 4 legged friend hit the streets and tried to avoid the traffic brought in by the triathlon across the street at the YMCA. One 4+ miler braved passing the Y while the other 3 decided to head the other direction into Salisbury. Weather was perfect so POG and Honeymoon mentioned adding a little distance to hit a full hour, YHC took us on a slight detour to add just the right amount. Looking forward to continuing this run location into the fall now that POG has signed up for the Richmond half.

  • Richmond City Paid The Light Bill

Nine Electricians posted at Batteau to check the Forest Hill Park transformer. All was in working order. Here’s how we lit it up:

Bleeder Q – Meter Readers: Mosey back down HIR to head of lake path. Increasing Merkins at every working light poll. Turns out the City paid the power bill and fixed ALL the lights. 5/10/15/20/25/30/35/40/45/50.

Posh Q – Juice Stairs: Partner up: Partner 1 down the steps for 20 dips. Partner 2 = WWIIs. Repeat x 3.

NMS: Strong numbers at Batteau today, including Hitchhiker making his Batteau debut. We’ve yet to use the newly minted pickle ball courts, but we will soon. Bleeder must’ve known the City fixed all the lights when he called the lake lap. Sippy pure formed his way through all 260+ merkins. As always Swirly lead the way, with Posh right behind him. It was great having Upchuck back in the fold. Glad the wheel is healing nicely.

    Have a great week!

  • Less than 70 and sunny

5 posted on a perfect August morning. Yes, perfect. For this time of year, the weather could not have been better. It was south of 70 degrees, lower humidity and dew point. It actually felt a little chilly when you were not running.

Flipper and TYA launched early and did the South to North loop adding in Forrest hill for a cool 10 milers. Offshore and Flange did the South North with Swiper. Swiper was off at the end to add a few extra miles to better prepare for grandfather mountain at the BRR.
