  • Where’d You Get Your Underwear?

Twenty Seven posted for a Dog Pile version of Body by Jake, and Vinny, and Sippy Cup. Here’s what we filmed.

Training Camp: Mosey to Carillon Field and pair up. Sprint length of the field and bang out Boo Yah Burpees x 10. Back peddle back across field for Boo Yah Burpees x 10. Repeat 10 at far end of field and 13 back at the start.

Michael Jackson Video: Thriller Walk (lunges) to the grassy area beside the Carillon.

Kings Dominon Bodies: New partners. Three rounds at :60 per round. Sit ups, all you can eat.

Arctic Blast: Mosey to bowl for Triple Check. Round 1: Partner one Bear Polar up the hill. Chuck Norris Merkins at the top. Polar Bear Back down. Partner 2 – WWIIs / Partner 3 – Lt. Dans. Round 2: Bernie Sanders up the hill. Polar Bear down. Exercises stay the same. Round 3: Run up the hill and back down. Exercises stay the same.

Body By Sippy Cup: Guest appearance by Sippy Cup for 15 minutes of Mike Tyson’s Punch Out. Jabs, Crosses, Knee Slams, and Hooks. A few planks built in for rest.

BTTF: Merkin Ring of Fire – Variety Pack.

Recall took us out. He hates Wilson during the week, but not on Saturdays.

Announcements: Puppy Pile on 8/24 at 7:05. Order your personalized F3 shirts. See Dr. Try Hard and previous BBs for link to order. Time is running out. Tassel making party and poker night at DTHs on Sat. 9/7. See him for details. Bring beads.

Moleskin: Kubota took a sizable spill during Shark Week that put him on the shelf for a week. YHC stepped in to fill the void. Today was fun, and I hope somewhat different. PAX shined bright in spots, except for Wilson. Sippy Cup’s boxing seminar is one of my favorite / least favorite exercises often called at Batteau, so it made sense to have the PAX join in the pain. Hermie may have found his calling as a shadow boxing mime. Strong effort, and no Coors Light was returned! Thanks Sippy Cup for showing us how it’s done.

During the sit-up march, Mr. Roper noted his partner’s underwear, hence the BB title. The conversation continued on from there, but it won’t here in this forum. #NSFW

Dr. Try Hard showed up again with new and shiny toys. This time the kind that hangs on rear view mirrors, graduation caps, and apparently, Shovel Flags. The Merkin Challenge is on – and there is a prize.

Strong effort today, as always. T-Claps across the board.

  • $0.25 Breakfast Club Discount

Eleven knuckleheads ran pre and post Dog Pile. Apparently if you run or bike to ET’s, you get a $0.25 discount on your purchase, making it $10.75 instead of $11.

Apology of the day is from Lab Rat to me. You are supposed to join Namerama before you go into ET’s.

  • Amateur Q Morning

26 STRONG posted for a run or a ride this morning in the gloom. An amateur runner Q’d up the run and an amateur biker Q’d up the ride. After EF Hutton got in his early morning RAMM run, he gathered the bikers together to hit the streets for the second Amateur RAMM Gears for the summer. Several summer tourists checked this off of their list. Gumbo was dressed to impress which made Vinny proud. No Tools had an ugly blow-out. For it to happen during amateur hour was ironic.

Swirly, Saab, TYA and Vinny got in the early long run this morning. Well done and Happy Birthday to Vinny!

    The main RAMM routes were:

All take Grove east to a left on Hamilton. Cross Broad, run past Woodfin and 4 milers turn around at Westwood and backtrack to the VSF. 5 and 6 milers hang a right on Westwood, then veer left on Saunders to go over rail yard bridge. 5 milers turn around at Laburnum and backtrack. 6 milers hang a right on Laburnum and run to A.P. Hill monument then double back.

Glad to have Water Wings out with us again running with Sippy, Faceplant and Rosie on the 6 mile route.

Please remember and pray for TYA’s brother this week as he has surgery upcoming.

Please remember and pray for Helix’s daughter.

  • Zero Merkins, yes Zero

8 Noble warriors and a noble guest showed up for what was a misleading ball and chain event at twin team this morning. YHC’s car is in the shop and the ball & chain are in the trunk – %$#&!!!!

Mosey to front of school for some light to see the Q sheet and figure out our plan. Thank you Chesterfield County for not wasting my tax dollars on lights in the parking lot while school is not in session. Oh wait, I need those lights, again I say %$#&!!!!

    COP

Cherry Pickers X10, Don Quixotes X15, Helicopters X10, LBC’s X10, Man Killers X10 (we finally got the man killers right)

Mosey – Question was raised “Tobit what is the name of this AO” Tobit responds “Twin Team!!” and away we went

Top of Twin Team dropping off 3 lights on the way up. Back to the bottom for a Twin Team for a suicide run.

First Light Mountain Climbers X20 back to the bottom of the hill. Up to the second light Squats X20 back to bottom of the hill. Up to third light Calf Raises back to bottom of the hill. Up to top of the hill ball dippers X20 back to the bottom of the hill.

Some had to modify this Run/Boot Camp with 2nd light and top of hill rather than all 4.

    Mosey back to the flag

    Numbers and names

Prayers: Wilson’s best friend has a daughter (Katie) visiting the Philippines and had to have appendicitis surgery, flying back to the states tomorrow.

YHC has a promising interview today at 11:30

Announcements: Labor Day Convergence Timberwolf 7:00, Tee Shirts, and F3 Camping trip (September).

    NMS:

YHC was going for a Ball & Chain in every Nano Region for the Summer Tour but didn’t realize that the Ball & Chain are in the trunk of the car which is having the sun roof repaired (first world problems).

Great to have Cello join us this morning, safe travels to you and your family. Cello is from North Carolina, it sounds like 2 hours south of Richmond and an hour from the coast.

As usual Wilson was more than happy to hear that this work out was going to have a little run aspect to it, Nancy Lopez felt the same.

Due to yesterdays Merkin Civil War and as promised there where absolutely no Merkins to be had at today’s event.

  • Party of two? Your AO is ready.

2 Davillians forsook the fartsack and pushed through another Friday workout.

Mosey to rear of church for COP: SSH, arm circles, Imperial Walkers and DQ.

Mosey to field for start of history lesson. On this day in 1173, construction began on the leaning tower of Pisa. It took 200 years to finish (poorly), so we did 50 each of shoulder taps, reverse crunches, blades of steel and SSH.

Stay in the field area, because on this date in 1854, Walden, by Henry David Thoreau, was first published, an account of his time living simply for 2 years, 2 months and 2 days in the woods. So, YHC added 18 and 54 together, split it four ways… do 18 each of merkins, heels to heaven, low slow squats and calf raises, running into the woods between each to touch a tree.

Mosey to parking lot for next history bit: in 1910 the electric washing machine was patented, signaling the end of cleaning clothes using a washboard. In remembrance of the trusty washboard, we worked to develop our own: 75 American hammers, 75 LBC’s and 50 starfish crunches.

For the last history lesson, mosey back to field. On August 9th, 1936, Jesse Owens was part of the gold medal winning and world record setting 4 x 100 relay team at the Berlin Olympics, winning his fourth gold medal of the games. Commemorating this, PAX wheelbarrowed across the field and then sprinted back, then switched it up and repeated.

Mosey back to flag, numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

YHC showed up at 5:26 to no cars in the parking lot, but a Trout was there, having run over from his house in Ashcreek. After a few minutes and no one else rolling in, we rolled out. YHC tried a couple of new to him exercises, and will bring back only 1 of the 2. Both were very difficult, but starfish crunches killed YHC’s back (so modified to 50 reps) while blades of steel was just really hard–look it up, seems easy, but it is not, especially at 50 reps. It was great to get a chance to know Trout a little better this morning, really glad he’s part of the Daville family.

In the words of Richard Nixon, who resigned the Presidency on this day in 1974, “I’m not a crook!”, but I have No Idea what I’m doing.

Numberama, namerama, Gumbo took us out

Moleskin – In order to write this BB, YHC is simply smashing my face into the keys hoping to make something legible. Way to work today fellas. The merkins were of high quality, the mumble chatter was kept to a minimum and we got to WORK!

Perspective is an interesting thing. At the close of the COT, YHC reflected and thought there was no way more could have been done. It seemed like every available minute was spent doing merkins of the highest quality with a balance of minimal recovery so we could do as many as possible in the alotted 45 minutes. YHC could not have been more wrong. The Forge crew banged out an impressive 660 perscribed merkins. This is a good thing. Their creativity and effort became an obstacle to our victory. YHC was reminded of a favorite quote by Marcus Aurelius:

Our actions may be impeded, but there can be no impeding our intentions or dispositions. Because we can accommodate and adapt. The mind adapts and coverts to its own purpose the obstacle to our acting. The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”

YHC is getting that tingly feeling just thinking about how many merkins can be completed by an entire pax in 45 minutes. Game on.

  • Preblast – Punisher + Pint

The Monday, August 12th Punisher will involve an abbreviated workout followed by a mosey to Northside landmark Dot’s Back Inn for a refreshment. See you there.

  • Somnus interruptio

A ready five, unbowed by overnight thunderstorms, posted for this morning’s Circus Maximus. Following a brief exchange of (un)pleasantries (poison ivy is not an STD), we started the day with Burpees x 5, SSHs x 20, IWs x 15, Merkins x 10 (stopped at 5 in error but came back with another 5 later), Copperhead Squats x 10, LBCs x 25, Weighted Standing Side Bends x 10 (each side), DQs x 15, and Arm Circles (single arm alternating, big only, forward and reverse).

Stay in place for 8 minute Even Minute Odd Minute (EMOM) starting with Kettlebell Swings – 15 to 25, PAX choice. Even minute was Figure 8s around shins – also 15 to 25. Keep weight off ground between sets. 50 LBCs OYO afterwards.

Slide off the pavement and onto the nearby sidewalk for 11s alternating Sit & Press and Merkins (lower back exfoliation goal – check!). Started with 10 S&Ps and 1 Merkin and worked through the cycle.

Stroll with weights to the edge of the school for 4 minute AMRAP with Donkey Kicks x 10, Lawnmower Pulls x 10 (alternating, PAX choice), Goblet Squats x 10, and Half Turkish Get Ups x 2 (one per side). YHC neglected to start the timer, so we called it after 3 rounds.

Shift back to the starting point for 4 minute EMOM starting with Two Handed Curls – 15 to 25, PAX choice and alternating with Two Handed Overhead Presses – same rep options. Kept weights up between sets.

Move to the sidewalk for final 4 minute EMOM alternating Skull Splitters and Pullovers – 15 to 25 reps, PAX choice. Weights down and finish with a few minutes of stretching.

Finish with COT and Attila took us out.

Glad to make it this morning and good to see you guys. Nice work. Took just a few minutes to find the humidity. Lots of grunting but fewer than normal instances of gas release – the Beano must be working for some (you know who you are).

    Calendar items:

    Labor Day Convergence(?) – September 2, 2019 – Don’t know the details myself – watch f3rva.org.

Blue Ridge Relay – September 6 and 7, 2019 – the runners know who they are, but the groups might need drivers. BRR team confirm.

    F3RVA Retreat – September 21 and 22, 2019 – Amelia County, VA – Pre-Blast posted on July 9th with details.

  • Where’s the Track?

YHC’s debut Q North of Wall had a few obstacles. First, YHC’s future M had YHC playing gopher into the wee hours Wednesday night shuttling around she and co-workers fresh off an extended HH. All points of Greater Richmond were traversed including points North of the Wall. If YHC had only brought an overnight bag….

While en route this morning, the Summer Tourists faced a detour courtesy of a runaway vehicle. Fortunately, Dominion’s finest had the situation under control. Following a 4ish block detour, Waze corrected itself and we headed back up the Henrico Turnpike. Following a near miss coming around the bend before the school, YHC arrived safely to a pitch black AO only to find fellow tourist, BT. Slowly but surely the DaVille PAX rolled in between 5:29 and 5:30 (Mr Holland is wearing off on them) and these great 8 were off.

  • Merkin CIVIL WAR

Whistling dixie, YHC gathered 12 studly southern gentlemen around Old Glory to enlighten them of the coming battle. A nation divided against itself can not stand, so terms were set yesterday following WDog that North and South would compete in plank position – the most merkins in 45min wins the day. The SOJ Rebels to be led by DTH while the Yankee Aggressors at 45MOM would follow the flamboyant banner of Hardywood. Here follows the true accounting of how a few good Southern gentlemen gave life and limb for the honorable cause of claiming merkin victory…

    The BATTLE:

Start with x30 standard Merkins OYO

    Mosey to COP #1:

    • SSH x15 IC
    • x5 Werkins IC (x10M)
    • DQ’s x5 IC
    • x5 Ranger Merkins IC (x10M)

    • DR W’s x10 IC
    • x10 Merkins OYO

    Mosey to COP #2:

    • Run back up to the Shovel Flag completing x5 Merkins at every light pole (x70 merkins total) – arm circles for the SIX

Mosey toward the other side of the AO, stopping twice to complete x10 Merkins

COP #3 at the Soccer Field:

    • Modified Merkin Beast — Start with x6 Merkins at each quarter of the field 25/50/75/75/50/25 (x36 per round), then for consecutive rounds add 2nd exercise following the initial x5 merkins:

    • Round 6: x6 M, x6 LBC’s
    • Beast Merkin Total = 216

Mosey to Amphitheater for COP #4:

    • Complete x5 Incline Merkins on each step going up, box jump up each step between merkins (x25 Merkins)

    Mosey the long way BTTF:

    • Going around back loop, stop at each light pole to complete x10 Merkins, audibled after x4 light poles to complete x5 merkins each consecutive pole
    • From end of AO on side walk, mosey BTTF stopping every 30 yards to complete x10 merkins (at one point x9 merkins completed to even up the numbers)
    • Lunge the last 50 yards to flag, completing x10 Merkins every x10 steps …ran out of time right after completing x660 merkins total!!!!

    COT:

    • Counterama #12
    • Namerama (all vets)
    • Announcerama (see Comments)
    • FRESH PRINCE took us out in Prayer

    NMS:

    • VICTORY! VICTORY! VICTORY! The North has waved the white flag of surrender having completed an impressive, yet insufficient, 586 merkins in 45 minutes. The FORGE men stand victorious, with arms held limply at their sides, having won the day with 660 merkins in 45 minutes. THIS is what F3, in all its CSAUP glory, is all about!!!  DTH extends the invitation to any other AO that wishes to try their metal against the FORGE men, for a head to head 45 minute competition of their choosing. Or at the very least, attempt to complete more than 660 merkins in 45 minutes, and claim the F3RVA MOST MERKINS banner that the DTH Forge Flag will now be boasting. SYITG! ~DTH
