  • Danger: Falling Rocks. Mosey at your own risk

7 hard men posted for YHC’s VQ. Hardywood, despite promises made a mere 48 hours ago, chose not to join us in the gloom. YHC’s little heart is broken.

    But alas, we pushed on.

This is how the thing went:

Mosey to the pickleball courts, 10 Merkins, 10 Helicopters, 10 WWII’s.

Mosey down to the lake and run a full lap. Write a letter to City Council asking for explanation of why 70% of lights around the lake don’t work. 40 yards of walking lunges.

Mosey back up the hill to the sunken garden, break into 2 man teams. One man runs to the top of the hill, other man rocks out 20 dips, followed by 20 merkins, then a plank. Repeat 3 rounds.

Mosey to the tennis courts for 4 corners of abdominal pain. 20 WWII’s, 20 LBC’s, 20 Supermen, 20 4-count flutters. Run the long ends, bear crawl the short ends. Followed by a Merkin circle- each man led 10 Merkin variations of his choosing.

Mosey to the top of the stairs, grab yourself a nice boulder, then mosey down the stairs to the lake. Boulder shoulder presses, boulder squats, followed by a run back to the top of the stairs to return the boulder back to its home.

Handshake, who wasn’t the least bit tired, had the strength to not only place the boulder back down but send it rolling down the hill with significant speed and crashing into the opening below. Posh narrowly survived the rockslide and lived to tell the tale.

Mosey back to the flag, Numberama, name-a-rama, prayer, done.

YHC thoroughly enjoyed his first Q and feels incredibly blessed to have discovered F3 RVA. Looking forward to many more mornings with y’all. Embrace the suck.

  • Car Up!!

9 Runners arrived on a darker than normal Monday to start week off with some miles

Simple route today. Head out behinds the school to Honey Meadows. Head up to Honey Meadow Estate and hit the fire road to Kings Charter. Turn right on Kings Charter Drive. 4 milers turned back at 2 miles and 5 milers turn back at 2.5 miles.

Mud Face and No Idea did a run/walk for 3.5 miles into Giles

Title comes from today seeing a record number of cars in both neighborhoods leaving before 6 am. YHC total over 12.

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • ET’s start and finish

Well I can’t remember who all was there for Breakfast club – since the BB was not published – I did my best to recall…. I know this Flipper took us out – and it was very humid running back. If I left you out – let me now I’ll get you on there… Great job guys – see y’all in the gloom.

  • Five Fingers SOJ style

The Q sheet opened up last week with Kubota’s unfortunate injury but it made room for me to try out a new route for RiverRun. It’ll need a little tweaking but a good one to add to the mix. Start with the instructions, Lugnut knows where he’s going, Doublemint seems to have some familiarity with the area, Mousetrap will just follow someone.

The Route: Right out of the parking lot and hit the trail/sidewalk to Riverdowns, up the Queensgrant hill about 2/3 of the way, turnaround where it flattens out before the second climb. Back down and right on the sidewalk, right on Robious Forest Way, all the way to the end and back to the trail. Next all the way up Twin Team, turn around at the top. Back down and past Bettie Weaver and right on Rivermist Road, run to the cul-de-sac. Final leg is up Riverton Road across from Bettie Weaver and back down to the start. 5+ miles for all of all 5 fingers.

The MapMyRun distances were a little short so we probably could have made it to the top of Queensgrant hill for some more elevation but overall pretty good training for the day and a route that we will definitely do again.

BRR was on the mind post run with Doublemint and Mouse Trap getting their questions answered about the fun that will ensue beginning a month from today. Thought we’d have a few more PAX this morning but the fartsack apparently ruled the day, you know who you are.

  • Lazy-ish Dora with Kettlebells

Seven of the faithful, including one newcomer to Circus, met early morning last Thursday with kettlebells in hand. White deer entered the school parking lot, located very close to many residences, leaning on the car horn. Soooo, we may be looking for a new AO soon. In any case, this is what went down (more or less) after YHC Johnsonville took the Q:

Standard rounds of warmups, including SSH (of course), Don Quiotes, Cherry Pickers, Merkins, LBCs, Arm Circles, etc.

    Run the loop.

Mosey with KBs over near bus pickup/dropoff area by school. Jack Webbish COP, except 1 burpee, 4 KB snatches, 2 burpees, 8 KB snatches … continue to 5/20.

KB carry around the front of the school. Pair up for Lazy-ish Dora. 100 sit and press with partner running about 100m and back; 200 goblet squats with partner bear crawling about 50m and moseying back; 300 lawnmower pulls with partner doing 20 shoulder taps.

KB carry back to VSF for some Mary. Announcements & COT.

Great work, men! It was good to have Mousetrap join us for the first time and good to have Loose Goose back. Johnsonville.

  • Humpapalooza

A resurgent thirteen found their way to the darkest AO in RVA to start the week with a banger of a leg smoker.

Long mosey down Forest through the neighborhood and back to the school blacktop.

    COP (IC)

    Mosey to back lot

Long mosey through neighborhood to Forest, back up hill to the flag

    • Burpee Minute

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Apologies to Duke and Honeymoon for repeating the Jack Webb leg routine from DaVille a few weeks back, but legs were the hot topic of the day, and monkey humpers were the prescribed medicine.  Pair that with 55 2ct lunges and 10 Bernies up the hill and the legs were screaming.  Great to be back at Hoedown and see strong numbers after a bit of a hiatus.  Welcome Voicemail a few weeks into F3 and his FNG Tubbs, first time for YHC bringing about a splashing of merlot.  Glad no one turned an ankle moseying down Forest, not sure that can be counted as a sidewalk.

  • Regulars here too

Saw the backblast for Sunday Funday and noted the similarities. The main group was out and about at OTB as well. Wilson and Aisle 5 for their easy paced walkabout solving the world’s problems. Honeymoon and YHC for the Salisbury loop with Annie pulling us along the way when she wasn’t trying to chase after squirrels.

Aisle 5 and Wilson are looking for the best coffee selection at UF but have yet to find a suitable one. The location and outdoor seating at the coffeeteria is tough to beat so the 2nd F is always a good one.

  • Standard Loop with the Standard Group

Just a bunch of familiar faces out for a loop around the river this morning. Lab Rat was fresh off vacation and was glad to see some male buddies after a week with the family. Shakedown was out testing the waters with Maple, the new pup on her longest run to date….she did great!

Good to see Gomer, whom I havent seen in a minute…he’s looking spry as ever and singing the praises of Cortizone. Saab did his regular road thing, but thought enough of us to meet at the COT and share a bite afterwards at ET’s. Lots of talk about the upcoming BRR with race times being released yesterday. Some new injury reports coming in, here’s to hoping those heal quick.

    Lab Rat apologizes…

    • COT with YHC taking us out

YHC was excited to be back on the Q sheet at Gridiron have an extended hiatus.  A PAX of familiar faces was a true blessing, with Earthworm, Picaboo, and Cecil making returns.  As usual, Johnsonville, Offshore, Blue Moon, Cheetah, Tater, and Chum Bucket led the way.  No slackers to be found today, especially with the large amount of respect due this PAX.  It was a blessing to grind out this workout with these men.  Iron sharpened iron.  The party then went on the Einstein Bagels for some quality 3rd F.

Public service announcement, we have an APB out for Nightcrawler.  Merlot season has extended to a year round gauntlet.  There is discussion as to whether there will be a bonus Gridiron in his front yard in the coming weeks if he continues to be MIA.

God is good all of the time!

    Attila
