  • Paying rent with Kryptonite, guess that Kryptocurrency

As everyone knows, today was my VQ. I want to start of by saying it was an honor and a pleasure to lead such a great group in the dogpile. I decided to leave SSG Carter at the house and let Kryptonite take charge (less yelling and screaming that way.) Shout out to Hardywood and Swirly for taking over while I got the 6 on two different occasions. Also special shout out to Bone Thugs (Thugz?) For the hard work hes been putting in. Ok, let’s get to it.

0600- Mosey to the circle so we can stretch out and prepare for today’s battle. Kept some of the original stretches but also incorporated some new ones that we use in the military to help get our muscles and joints moving properly. Started off with the bend and reach, then the squat bender, followed by the helicopter (in honor of Wilson’s dedication to it.) After that moved into a set of pushups, then two laps of alternating laterals. Warm up is complete….now the workout begins

Head down to the bottom of the pit, the stadium (insert your own name preferences.) Jumped straight into Killer 30’s by holding elbow planks for 30 secs, 5 sec rest, then straight into close hand pushups for 30 secs. After that, another 30 secs of elbow planks followed by 30 secs of regular pushups and finish with another 30 secs of elbow planks. Now that our bodies are warmed up, it’s time for “Escaping Hell.” Only one way to get out and that’s up, but you have to pay rent at every level!!! Alternating exercises at each level: pushups, burpees, WW2s (3 each) then power jump to the next level. Repeat until you’ve reached the top, FREEDOM!!!

While waiting for the 6, Hardywood took over and knocked out some ab exercises including planks and flutters. I honestly believe some abs were born today…Angel’s were singing while God was chugging a Plant based Whey Protein shake while curling a ………too much? Ok back to it!

Mosey over to the field for a triple check of four corners. Break down into groups of 3 and get ready to work. Using half the field (80x40m) lateral from side to side landing at corner 1 knock out 30 pushups. Afterwards run backwards to corner 2 and knock out 30 WW2s then hop back up and reverse lateral to corner 3 where everyones favorite exercise was waiting….the BURPEE! Knock out a good 15 then sprint back to the finish line and tag your partner. I’ll be the first to admit my math was off, but humor me! Partners waiting were rotating between planks and air squats until it was their time to run the gauntlet. Plank it out until the 6 was done, and we are off to the pull up bars.

We have arrived at the bars and it’s time for another triple check! (Skip pass all the confusion and jump straight into sets) 1, 2 and 3 is too easy for this elite group of warriors, so how does 100, 200 and 300 sound? Triple check of 100 dips, 200 pushups and 300 squats. Now, add in unlimited WW2s and alternating exercises on the pull up bar with pullups and leg tucks, and I’d say you have a pretty good recipe for GAINZ! Thanks Dr Tryhard and others for knocking out extra reps to help pick up the 6. Mission complete, let’s mosey back to base.

Swirly agrees to take the pack while I run with the 6 and exchange military humor. Once back at base Swirly leads the group in a grueling set of plank rotations, targeting the core while building stronger pecs and shoulders. I hear a cry for mercy, asking me to take over now that I am back……but hey, what the heck, who doesnt like chest day right? Finish it out Swirly……and now, we can relax!!!

Again, awesome time with awesome people! Keep in mind all the prayer requests that were brought up today. Also, DTH is having a poker night if anyone is interested. Last but not least, FLAG NIGHT? I know some of us have discussed it many times, but I’d like to set something in stone. Some house have been offered up, so let’s get together and make it happen. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!!! If I spelled your name wrong, I truly am sorry!!!

PreBlast – Roller Coaster/HDHH 8/7/19 at Kuba Kuba Dos (5:30pm)

The Wednesday August 7th Roller Coaster hill run will launch from Kuba Kuba Dos (Tuckahoe Shopping Center). We will meet in the parking lot and have a hard start at 5:30PM. We will then run a nearby loop with hills in The River Road Hills neighborhood and then retreat back to the restaurant for HDHH! If you cannot make the run, please join us at the restaurant. Runners should be back by 6:15PM or so. This will be good training for BRR 2019 (the running part and the beer drinking part afterwards.) • Rain from The Heavens

16 Road Runners and 1 Gearhead posted this morning to finish our work week in a glorious way. 5 supercharged runner started early for a little extra credit. Arriving to see BT all by his lonesome, we quickly asked “Who has the Q?” Remembering several old routes, just 4 and 5 mile routes till Marv posted. So at 0529, quick decision to take a stroll down Monument:

Routes: Down Commonwealth to Monument. 4 milers down Monument to Arthur Ashe Boulevard and back. 5 milers down Monument to Strawberry St and back. Marv down to Stuart Circle and back. Extra credit PAX members ran more but no idea where.

Number-ama, Name-r-ama, Announcements: BRR teams need drivers and forward logistics team (See Corporate). Kryptonite has VQ tomorrow.

    YHC took us out.

NMS: As we turned on Monument, Shakedown asks “Was that lightening?” Boom Bam…the Pax was cooled by the rains from the heavens. Shakedown and Handshake, good pace and thanks for the fellowship. Marv, solo but nice work. With the rain, YHC thought to himself-what a privilege to be able to run this morning and with added benefit, the rain. Continue to count your blessing and take this day that the Lord has made.

    Only Those Who Post Understand.

    Loud and Proud,

    Flatline

  • A ball, a chain and heat lightning

5 noble warriors made a visit to the creek this morning.

YHC got a bit of an early start to the upper regions of the RVA this fine A.M. and passed through what seemed like more than one time zone. The following is what I think just happened or at least it’s how YHC remembers it happening.

5:30 (Thanks Mud Face for being the time keeper today) Mosey and circle up

Don Quixote’s, Helicopters and Man Killers (Start with ten SSH’s after ten – arm position changes to shoulder height, after ten – arm position changes to hip height, after ten – no arms just jump) repeat 9, 8, 7 we had to audible because YHC was doing IC and it got to be a lot of counting. Will modify this for the next time.

Mosey for a lap around the church, get to side parking lot where YHC had 6 chalk labeled parking spaces and one parking space with a medicine ball and 20′ logging chain. The Exercise was do 10 of a station and take a lap until all 7 stations where complete when you get to the ball and chain there is no exercise just run your lap with your preferred choice.

    Carolina Dry Docks

    Mountain Climbers

    American Hammers

    Ball or Chain

    Merkins

    Squates

    WWII

Plank for the 6, Help your brothers finish

Mosey to the front parking lot, 4 corners

    Corner 1, 10 Merkins

    Corner 2, 10 Merkins, 20 Squates

    Corner 3, 10 Merkins, 20 Squates, 30 Hello Dollies

Corner 4, 10 Merkins, 20 Squates, 30 Hello Dollies and 40 Plank Jacks

Mosey to the center of the parking lot, start at on end forward lunge to the light post, backward lunge to the end of the parking lot. Repeat but Bear Crawl to the light post Crab walk to the end.

Circle up to finish out with a Mary 10 count of Merkins of your choice

    Numberama / Namerama

Notes: Summer Tour finish strong, Labor day Convergence, DTH Poker night and September camp out

    Chewie took us out

    NMS:

Again YHC finds a way to try and incorporate an exercise that has not been fully thought out, you would think he had learned his lesson. YHC has 3 more Q’s this month to get this right.

Bigggggggg Props to Chewie for taking us out this morning. It is hard enough for an old man like YHC to take a group out at the end of a workout but to be almost 15 and for the Spirit to lead you in a way that blesses the PAX is encouraging.

YHC and Phonics had a conversation about the heat lightning that was flashing in the background and the fact that we had a 20′ logging chain to carry. We finished just as the real lightning and rain was starting.

  • Attitudinally Better

As part of the Summer Tour, YHC decided to make a Q appearance on the newest AO on the F3 RVA sheet. Hopes of a large local contingent dissipated quickly when the only 2 PAX in the parking lot upon the Q’s arrival were summer tourists. The summer tourists equaled the locals until 5:29:30 when a couple more locals rolled in. Off we went to get better.

Mosey around the parking lot to pick up stragglers, continue the mosey around the back of the school to scope out the AO. Circle up in the grass for a Saab friendly warmup.

Mosey over to the blacktop with a slight detour to check out the conditions of track. Since Dr. Tryhard requested that I let the PAX know about a poker night this weekend I thought I would help myself remember with a little gambling of my own. Blackjack – always add to 21. Start with 20 merkins on one end, 1 LBC on the other. Run back and forth until you work your way down to 1 merkin/20LBCs. Help a brother out if you finish early, one last round together to close it out.

Now it’s time to hit the track, Mudface’s favorite and a Marmaduke special. Catch me if you can. Partner 1 runs backward, P2 does 5 squats and runs to catch up, switch until you complete a lap.

Mosey to the swing set for some fun that YHC noticed during Blackjack. There are 8 swings and 8 PAX. Just enough time for a 6 pack with decline merkins with feet in the swing and WWII. Close out with some Mary, not counting above 10 since the guys in DaVille don’t know anything higher than that.

NMM – Happy Birthday to Chewy, not many 15 year olds start their day off with working out at 0530 with a bunch of old men, I am impressed. Great to get out to the newest AO in RVA. Some good things to work with out there, including a hill that looked great but did not get used today. Good to get pushed out of your comfort zone every once in a while, Tclaps to Mudface for pushing through the back and forth of Blackjack. It was a pleasure to see some summer tourists still making the rounds with Oyster and Doublemint. Great to see Trout again since YHC didn’t realize what his real name was until today. He and I resolved to EH one of his coworkers that lives near me with some mutual friends.

Bulkhead offered up thoughts and prayers for Maytag who got word he is being activated. Rounders is in the same division so we are assuming he received the same orders.

Closing out today Mudface gave thanks for this group for making us better in different ways and the one that stuck with me this morning was “attitudinally better”. Something to be said about going into and coming out of things with the right attitude, it make a difference.

    Impromptu Coffeeteria
Special thanks to Hardywood for providing coffee and Cups for the group to enjoy. YHC, Greenbow, Flashdance, and Hardywood enjoyed the extended discussion on family trips, time away, and new oppurtunites that come about from time listening, and improving that skill.( at least that is what I thought I heard)

    Announcements:

Labor Day convergence at Timberwolf (7am)

See DTHs preblast for poker night this Saturday

    NMS:

Numbers at the Forge this morning were lighter than usual. Did DTH take many of the regulars over to 45MOM? The Forge Q spot was still empty yesterday afternoon and so YHC threw in a hot potato. …YHC enjoys a good hot potato Q.

One does not see Mr. Roper’s name on the Q sheet (ever) so YHC was curious to see what he would throw at us. Well, Mr. Roper brought it strong with the 4/5 corners ladder and abs focused Mary. Not sure if he’ll actually read this BB, but YHC volunteers to write up the BB for him in the future if he’ll actually put his name on the Q sheet.

Hot potatoes are also great to entice those that have never Q’d before to sign up. After getting a taste, YHC hopes Scrooge and Sea Doo will have their VQ’s soon.

Nice to have Fireman Ed SOJ this morning!

Make today a great one fellas…peace out!

  • Strong Breeze

4 studs posted to Roller Coaster this evening and here is how it went down.

    Honeydo – 1 medium – 2 short loops

    Vinny – 1 medium – 1 short loop

    TYA – 2 mediums – 2 short loops

    Swirly – 1 long- 1 medium – 3 short loops

Great job guys – really enjoyed it. Started out smoking hot on the first couple loops – but a very nice breeze there at the end to help cool things down.

BRR is coming soon – if you need to get some hill work in get yourself to Roller Coaster – Spider Run or River Run and get that work in…

Roller Coaster next week will be at Kuba Kuba 2 – Kubota has the Q.

    See y’all in the gloom.

  • And BT makes 7

Seven strong brought their Kettlebells to Manndate for a Summer Tour Q. Temps of 74 with high humidity made for ample sweat once we did:

COP: SSH, Hairy Rocketts, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkics.

Grab KBs and mosey to back of school: Lunge around Bus loop, stopping every 20 Lunges for 10 Merkins Rows, finish with 30 KB Swings. Find some grass for Boat & Canoe. Over to benches: 4 rounds of: 10 Step Ups (w-KB) then 15 Lawnmowers. Back to grass – 15 Sit & Press.

Head to front of school: Run loop, then 3 sets of: 15 Pullovers & 10 Skull Crushers. 20 Overhead press, then 30 more KB Swings. Finish with some Mary. Chewy took us out.

NMS – YHC hit the DaVille area for 2nd straight day, hoping for even numbers. Upon arrival Trout came in at 5:22 then Corned Beef who took the remaining 5 minutes before 5:30 to park. COP started with 6 and YHC was happy since we had some good partner stuff planned. However BT came in hot during our SSH to make it 7, a dreaded prime number.

The Merkin Rows & Lunges took very long but got us warmed up. YHC did not remember the benches we used, are those new? Step Ups with KBs make for more fun. Mudface was not much for Mumblechatter this morning, he did fill the air with other means though.

Safe Travels to Corned Beef on your drive to FL today. Prayers for Helix’s daughter and Doozy on his job search.

Thanks for letting this West Ender lead this morning.
