  • IT LOOKED GOOD ON PAPER

An energetic bakers dozen arrived at No Toll this morning ready to take on what YHC had in store.  At the buzzer, we were off to the plush, green, very wet soccer fields.

COP:  Windmills were called, but YHC starting performing Helicopters…so that’s what we went with.  DQ’s, Russian Soldiers, Hillbillies, SSH’s, Merkins, American Hammers, Freddie Mercury’s.

Warm up: Stay in circle, YHC joins the circle to perform a fire drill.  PAX is chopping feet, while person to left of YHC calls out fire, all hit the ground, roll to the right to perform 1 Merkin, roll back to the left to perform 1 Merkin, then back to feet chopping.  Each PAX member calls out fire till we make it all the way around the circle.  Recover.

Staying in the circle, the PAX together performs Happy Jacks.  5 rounds of 5 SSH’s (3 count) and 2 jump squats.  Recover.

Again, staying in circle, Howling Monkey’s is called out.  PAX is in squat position, grabbing ankles.  PAX member to left of YHC starts 10 Monkey Humpers while the rest is holding squat.  When PAX members completes 10, it moves to the next one in circle, moving all the way around till all PAX members have completed their 10.

Mosey to corner of field for a different version of four corners.  Sprint the length of the field to corner 2, perform 10 Smurf Jacks (an Opus favorite), carryovers the width of the field to corner 3, 10 more Smurf Jacks, sprint to corner 4 with 10 Jacks, carryovers back to start and should have been 10 more Jacks (YHC forgot to call those out).  Second round, sprint the length, Mosey the width and 10 burpees at each corner, which YHC didn’t forget about at the end.

Mosey to parking lot to perform a Burpee, Indian Run around the perimeter of the parking lot and continue to the courts.  YHC started in front, peeled off to perform Burpees while the PAX continued to run and pass.  Once the end of the line reached YHC, YHC popped up and fell back in line while the now front member was peeling off to perform Burpees.  Each member did this twice on the way to the courts, worked out perfect.

On the courts, YHC calls out Partner 21’s.  With a partner, 1 Booyah Merkin and 1 WWII, 2 BM and 2 WWII, 3 and 3, and so on to 21!  Or, so it was meant to be 21.  YHC called an audible to 11.  YHC did not have a partner and McRib pointed out (and rightfully so) I was missing out by doing standard Merkins.  So, YHC went to shoulder tap Merkins to complete.

To finish, gather at the corner baseline for a Triangle Bear Crawl.  Start Crawl from corner to half court line, pop up for 10 SSH’s, Crawl across half court line to base line, 10 SSH’s, Crawl diagonal back to original corner, 10 SSH’s.

    Back to flag!

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

Announcements: Sonic provided some thoughts and encouragement for struggles we face day to day.  Thanks for sharing!

Once again, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to lead at an AO and be around such a great group of men.  Thanks for pushing so hard this morning.  I can honestly say I think we were all spent after this one, but you men crushed it!  The 21’s did look really good on paper, but as we know, it doesn’t always translate well at the end of a workout…maybe at the start next time.

    Have a great day, gents!

    PSA – Lost Data

There was a momentary loss of data yesterday evening on the website. As of 5:00AM this morning I had to restore the site to a backup from yesterday at 4:38PM. I have verified that any posts created during that window have at least been recreated; however, if you made updates after 4:38PM EDT yesterday and 5:00AM EDT this morning they are lost. Feel free to recreate any comments, or just forget about them all together.

If anyone has any questions, just ping me and I’ll fill you in.

#BigData should be clean. If you see otherwise, just ping me.

  • Creative new route

14 warriors posted on a perfect July Morning. Relatively cool weather for this time or year. Route was up the hill, to St. Christoper Road, right on Patterson. 23 minute out, 22 minutes back.

    NMM

Great weather for a run this time of year, humidity was down and it actually felt a little bit cool out there.

Lug and YHC were chasing each other the entire way. Great to have someone to push you along when you want to take a little breather along the way. Thanks to Lug, I made it back to the flag in 21 and a half minutes. Honestly, most of the time was made up in the last hill. Took me 5 minutes to climb and four minutes to descend. I was helped along a little bit by Splinter catching up with me on the way down. Since I thought it was Lug, I was all but sprinting down the hill.

Glad to have some of the vacationing guys back. Gomer pyle back from Europe, and Swirly from down at Holden beach. Bleeder didn’t make an appearance from the Jimmy Garroppolo islands. Can’t wait to hear how his trip went.

Everyone, including Saab, loved the creativity of this route…

    Prayers for Helix’s daughter.

  • Finally Saw the river at River Run

Solo post at River Run this morning. I waited an extra minute and then headed for the trails down by the river. Got turned around and ran back past the car, up Twin Team and then back around the school and parking lot to finish out the 45 minutes and 4.20 miles.

I run faster with a group and when I know where I am going.

Kids late for rowing drive really fast

The river trails are kind of spooky in the foggy dawn.

Prayers for Helix’s daughter. Peace fellas – see y’all tomorrow.

Can’t add QIC, Date, Pax.. somehow I screwed up my posting options…not known for my WordPress skills and it keeps me from wanting to Q -I don’t mind writing, I just screwed this up in some way.

YHC closed in Prayer. Lift up those we hold dear in our hearts. Remind us to be the HIMs we’re set out to be.

Enjoyed leading the PAX for my first (but certainly not last) Q this morning. The PAX showed out this morning. I fully expected the second stop on The Thang to carry us to stopping time, but the PAX left 7 minutes to make YHC get creative. Y’all earned those Curb Crawls.

YHC’s first workday in Richmond is 2 years to the date. When YHC moved here he new one close friend college that had made RVA home. YHC jumped into a world of unknown. A job change, a new city and and a chance to start over were the cards dealt. While driving back from Florida, with the family (and the future M) that has embraced every bit of this 30 year old knucklehead, it’s clear YHC is living proof the world works in mysterious, but incredibly wonderful ways.

That’s enough floor slappin’ for today. Have an awesome Monday!

  • OTB

5 for a beautiful morning with some high humidity!

    2 runners for 6 miles
    1 runner for 5 miles
    2 walkers for 4 miles

Good to have 1 from the summer tour, thanks Phonics for coming out and pushing me! Marmaduke strong work man getting 5 miles in this heat!! BRR ready, watch out!

Always great coffee after or at least great 2nd F as Wilson is not a fan of the coffee.

  • A week at the beach

Okay well let me begin by saying the majority of people at the beach need F3 – they need Swirly ! For the love of god cover yourself – sorry judge not less ye be judged right – I get it – but holy mother of god have some respect for yourself – put it down (whatever it is ) and bang it out baby ……. Woooo!!

So here is the deal – first morning running the 2 miles to the pull up bars and benches and 2 miles back to the beach house I see a dude in a shirt that looks like one I have which happens to be the Red F3 lexington (Cheech) shirt… So I’m running – dude is coming towards me – (walking)!!!!! and I kinda say hey( in the way Swirly says hey) – which is hey man – F3 – dude says yea – Swirly say walking ??? Anyway nice due Jekel tells me where he’s from that he did BRR once… – that he did Palmeto couple times – all this time I;m in running in place of course and letting him know this is our 5th BRR and we are doing a 6 and a 12 man team – not that F3RVA is competitive or anything – boom!!! So dude says well Swirly you seem real involved in F3 really (in to it) – ah yea dude you could say I’m kinda involved and into it 🙂 – so he says you must know Dredd – I say who ? Naw I know OBT (cool dude) – but I bet Dredd knows Swirly 🙂 End of jogging in place fist bump (want to join me for a quick pull up – merkin – dip – beatdown)? Jekel – no.. Swirly – later man take care F3RVA will be hitting that palmeto race – maybe next year – what do you say fella’s you with me ??

    Beatdown everyday : 2 mile run to the bars and bench – 3 sets 5 overhand – 3 sets 5 chin ups . 3 sets 10 incline merkins – 3 sets 10 dips – run 2 miles back.

Looking forward to being back in RVA with the pax !

  • Saab Requires San Pellegrino Ice Cubes

Six posted for miles before the thing and after the thing.

    This THING

Mosey from ETs to Dogpile via Robinson past the lake up Trafford to Blanton and Park.  Return Park to Blanton to Sheppard to Cary.

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

YHC hesitantly calls himself QIC for this one, but slaving over a hot keyboard for 10 minutes should count for something, right?  For anyone that believes Breakfast Club is undeserving of its own BD point, try running to and from Dogpile in this humidity.  YHC believes it was Flatline that said today’s should be worth 1.5, tend to agree.  Total mileage combined with Fireman Ed’s bootcamp was north of 6 miles, 2 there, 4 during the bootcamp, and roughly 2 more back according to Saab’s figures.  Saab also loves ice cubes, but not from the tap, just ask him to explain sometime.  Great run men.
