No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service
Days are getting longer and the Pax is converging earlier, trying to get a glimpse of the gloom.
YHC called the route and off we went. A charming route up Boatwright, a stroll down Patterson, and the meandering curves of Westham Parkway. Each route distance had a different exit off of the Pwky with a return to the VSF.
Swirly took us out.
The Moleskin
It was great to see the Pax today. Despite Labrat sans shoes and TYA shirtless and soaking, Swirly did a great COT. Quote of the circle was “I hope those are love handles that I am pinching”. Remember, the shirt is not for you, but for us.
Announcements:
- Memorial Day Convergence – Monday – Tredegar – Unless anyone has called otherwise, 6:00?
- May Puppy Pile…..June 1. (Why not call it the June Puppy Pile? Whoever is Q needs a calendar.)
Too much time tapering. Time to run.

Not an IPA
Took longer to ferment, this backblast did, but a PAX of three posted to the most recent Punisher. Warmup in the cool grass adjacent on the Laburnum Avenue side of the school with Invisible Jump Ropes, IWs, Cherry Pickers, DQs, Helicopters, and Arm Circles. Mosey around the corner to the bus loop for Curb Crawls – 1 to 5 and back down again of Decline Merkins with Bear Crawl transport in between. Stood up and completed a similar sequence (1 to 5 and back), but with Lunge Walks as the movement and two count Back Lunges as the exercise.
Jog to the playground for Swingset Jerkins – started with 7 reps holding the last pull for 10 seconds and back off and complete a Flutter Kick set. Repeat until 1 Jerkin rep done along with one other Flutter Kick set. Quick move to the blacktop for High Knees, Butt Kickers, and runs. Back to the playground for 10 minutes of LBCs – started with 30 LBCs then roll over to Straight Arm Plank – 30 count hold when all PAX collected. Round 2 and through Round 10, completed 40 LBCs each round and also completed 30 second holds. Finish with some stretching.
Mosey back around the school for COT and YHC took us out. Thanks fellas.

Block Monday
8 men from the west end and YHC said no to their fart sack this sunny and 70 Monday morning to get in some coupon action.
This is how it when down.
Grab a cinder block from the stack and mosey up to the black top
COP (ALL IC) – SSH, DQ, Hillbillies, Tempo LBC’s, Merkins (on Cinder Blocks), Arm Circles
THANG
Jacob’s Ladder (sort of) – Only thing that made this a Jacob’s Ladder was the count up to 7. Using the blacktop, line up on one side in front of the basketball hoops. Complete 1 Situp + Press. Bear Crawl w/ block to the other side and complete 2 Situp + Press. Rinse and Repeat till 7 reps
Mosey to the playground field
11’s – Complete both exercise on one side (1 Block Burpee + 10 Block Swings), run across the field and back. Rinse and Repeat till 10 Burpees + 1 Swing.
Mosey to canopy area next to school
Triple Check – Dips, Derkins, Hallelujah Run (Block over head) down the sidewalk and back
Mosey back to the SF for Numberrama, Namerama, Announcements and YHC took us out.
MOLESKIN
Always great to make the trip to the Tuckahoe area. Since YHC wouldn’t be Qing a KB working this week, seem only fitting to have some sort of coupon workout.
YHC must have been slamming the cinder block a little hard during the ladder. About halfway thought his broke in half and had to run back down the hill to get a replacement
Offshore was beast during the 11’s lapping the rest of the PAX
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Loose Goose has the Q at Heartbreak tomorrow. There will be no Cinder Blocks
- Memorial Day Convergences at Tredegar

Bird Strike? No, just a woodpecker!
A Platoon of SOJ Roadrunners, 9 to be exact, posted to BWES to feel the warmth of RVA and get it all out! Route explained: Up Twin Team (but of course) to East Brigstock. 6 milers take E. Brigstock all the way to Winterfield (road does change to Netherfield for last 3/4 of mile) and back. 5 milers, E. Brigstock all the way till road name change, and back. 4 milers to bend in road, approx .5 miles, past Lake Patrick Henry, and back. Route did include traditional run by JRHS but that was not needed this morning. Mileage was spot on and time was short!
Number-ama, Name-r-ama, Annoucements: Puppy Pile last Saturday in May, 6/1, 0700-see Marv. Orange Crush asking for prayers with college friend who past suddenly, only 43 with a family! Convergence, Memorial Day, at Tredegar, 0700!

NMS: Rosie has always has a comment in the Gloom regarding YHC’s plans. Rosie took off up hill but Doozy caught up!! Way to track him down!! Mouse Trap, glad to introduce you to Twin Team this morning. It’s a great way to wake up! Gumbo, always a pleasure to share the road with you!! Lug my friend, RESPECT with your effort over the last 8 months!!!! Bullseye and Orange Crush, glad to see you circle back for the 6! Slumlord, way to work!!
The Pax is again reminded of how precious life is! We are blessed and afforded the luxury to value 0530 and 0600! Each day we need to say thank you for the ability to fill air in our lungs and be a guiding light in the community. Honor ALL that have past with your memories and admiration that these people were part of your life!! Life is short so love it and as Doozy said, “You do you!” Hug your M’s and kids every day!!
Only those who post understand.
Loud and Proud,

Walking into the light
YHC and Mudface showed up late for TR. Rucked 3 miles discussing possibilities of the new AO, The Anvil, which promises a lot of fun pain. YHC noticed that workouts are now starting in the light, which is a welcome change.
As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing.

New DaVille AO launching May 30th. The Anville. See the PreBlast
NMS: Plenty to be thankful for today. Having Swirly back means his M is recovering. We are glad she is feeling better, but continue with our thoughts and prayers as she continues to recover. Whatever you need brother, just let us know.
My FIL was diagnosed with kidney cancer this past week. The good news is they say they can fix it, perhaps even without operation. Either way, the M and I are thankful for him and the fact that the doctors are upbeat about the prognosis.
Have a great week, men. And take the time to “stop and smell the roses.” This is a busy week for many headed into the holiday weekend. Slow it down, and enjoy it. The weekend will get here soon enough.

Rock River 7 Miler
Five bandits hopped on the race course sans registration to see what Dominion had in store for the River Rock Half Marathon. All started and finished at Pump House. The routes in between varied, unintentionally.
No one took us out (I wasn’t the Q until just now, so I blame TYA).
NMS: Hot and humid this morning. The 8:00 start for River Rock was way too late. We made it most of the way through the course before we ran into the leaders. Along the way Lab Rat tried to convince a black snake to get off the trail. Ultimately, the convincing worked. That said, never touch the wild life, Lab Rat.
We saw Furley on the course and Saab ran today, but Lab Rat has rules.
The gloom is getting warm.
