  • Fits Like a Glove

Spring weather before a wintry mix. Yep, its Richmond. Twenty of RVA’s finest came out to cover miles in this fine city.

    The Route

West on Grove and turn right on the access road in front of the churches. Take a right on St Christophers and a right on Patterson heading east. 4s turn on Westmoreland, 5s on Malvern, and 6s on Nansemond with all taking Grove back to the VSF.

    Marv took us out.

    The Moleskin

Despite the warm weather, you gotta keep those digits warm. Most of the pre-run chatter was TYA (of all people) commenting on Saab’s running attire. To each their own.

It was great running with Vinny and Upchuck today, though unusually quiet, as they pushed the miles.

Announcements:  Hardywood’s 2.0’s book event this evening. 5:30 @ Crossroads.

  • All We Need Is A Little Paaatience

It is Valentine’s Day, and ten muscle-bound Romeos were looking to bulk up with the hopes of impressing the M on this Hallmark inspired day.  Here is how it went down:

    • American hammers
    • Run the bus loop
    • Mosey to the parking lot for COT

Double digit PAX, including 2 clown cars, for Circus was an awesome way to start a Thursday!  Great work by the PAX as we remained under weight with high reps.  Took a moment during COT to encourage the PAX to love our spouses.  It can be difficult, requiring compassion and patience.  Probably not the most common traits within the PAX.  Wishing all the PAX the best as they strive to love and serve their brides today.

God is good all of time! Attila

  • There’s a Big Hill by the Entrance

8 PAX braved the colder than forecast temperature to assemble at Timberwolf for a DK beatdown that went something like this:

    THANG

Mosey around school then assemble in parking lot.

Disclaimer, Happy VD, COP: SSH, DQs, SSH (legs in V formation for VDay), Dying Cockroaches (legs in V formation for VDay), Cherry Pickers, 70 arm circles

Mosey down to entrance to school. Line up facing the Hill

Long mosey back around school to VSF

COT – Marmaduke took us out.

    Naked Moleskin

Some dudes arrived early to run/ not ruck. YHC didn’t get the memo after fartsacking this week to avoid the sub-40 + rain…. As a result, the track work didn’t agree with Wilson.

New Market’s flatulence didn’t agree with YHC…and honestly, how do those guys not soil their drawers at each workout trying to out-cropdust the other?

Lug Nut has crushed the last 2 weeks! Keep it up, my friend!

NMS.  What a great time this was!  We did some big numbers today and everyone stayed warm.  Great seeing Twocan back after a long break.  We welcomed FNG Semi-Charmed, although I’m a believer that no name is final on the first day and is subject to change after some more group input at ET’s on Saturday.

Happy Valentine’s day, stay warm, love your wives and kids, and see ya in the gloom!

    NMS:

We had a record number this morning for MANNDate with 13 with the PAX. The parking lot was full of cars and everyone was ready to get to work.

The mumble chatter was kicked off by Emoji and he never stopped. He seems to enjoy yelling out “MY FAVORITE” after each exercise is announced. The FNG gave him a classic “What is up with this dude?” look that Emoji receives frequently from those who have never met the man.

The announcement and description of the Swing & Squat ladder brought mostly groans from the PAX except Helix. He responded positively and he backed it up with his hard work.

Mudface provided verbal assistance those who needed help with technique. He shared additional words with YHC and seemed to enjoy egging on everyone. That is one of his many gifts!

The PAX enjoyed throwing out ideas for the FNG. He sealed the deal when he said that he did not want to have any more children… “Snip Snip” was born! We also renamed another member of the PAX. He shared that he enjoyed playing pool so we named him 8-Ball. YHC is grateful that we didn’t fall into the pre-Helix trap of naming him “Black Balls” or something along those lines.

The PAX shared in lots of laughter and kettle bell pain this morning – a perfect combination!

  • Lab Rat’s washing machine

It was sunny and the river sparkled, but the wind nearly blew us off the Potterfield Bridge during our lunchtime run. YHC’s Garmin, source of all truth, logged 4.5 miles.

Apparently part of Lab Rat’s job is to keep a washing machine running. Doesn’t sound like much until you find out it would cost more to replace than the cost of the median house price in Richmond. YHC learned far more about industrial washing machines than he ever thought possible.

  • The Wind Blew in an Altar Boy

8 veterans posted to SOT, including one visitor from Columbia, SC. All were expecting warmer and dryer conditions. Well, we got dryer, but the wind was brisk. 0530, time to mosey, around the back of the school to find some shelter for COP, including:

    • DQs
    • Helicopters
    • SSHs
    • Imperial Walkers
    • Copperhead Squats

Time to take on the wind and mosey downhill to the facilities building and partner up for a Dora

    Dora

Partner 1 runs up the hill to the top and does 1 Burpee then runs back down. Partner 2 exercises. Flapjack and repeat until all exercises are done. Together complete 100 merkins, 200 squats and 300 2-ct Freddie Mercuries (those added up!).

    Announcements:

    • Is there a puppy pile on the books for this month?
    • Prayers for Rosie’s Father-in-Law who is having heart surgery today. Hope all goes well and that he has a speedy recovery.
    • Continued prayers for Greenbow and his wife for relief from the recent illness and a smooth delivery of baby #3.

    NMS:

That wind cut like a knife, so a little shelter was needed for COP, but after that it was into the elements and time to work. The Dora got the blood flowing nicely. Tobit and Bullseye absolutely destroyed the PAX on the Dora. Well done men. Great working with Limehouse on that!

Always fun to have a visitor, and Altar Boy fit right in and substituted nicely for DK (who stayed in the sack) with an astrology lesson for the group. Great job today Altar Boy. Stop in again if you are in town.

Also great to see Doozy back out after his sniper attack during River Run on Monday. Apologies for the Donkey Kicks – probably not good for the toe. But, Doozy plowed through it all in his quiet and determined way. Well don, sir.

Thanks for letting me lead. Until next…

    No More Gumbo For You!

  • Watch the Wet Spots

A mighty 13 showed up to do a lot of partner workouts on 2/13. A sign from the cosmos or maybe just a lucky day to work out with the Pax?

Mosey to the first circle for COP.

    • Helicopters
    • Invisible Jump Rope
    • Don Quixote
    • One legged leg lifts – right over left
    • One legged leg lifts – left over right

    • Dips – 2 sets of 15

Long Mosey back to the Grand Field and find new partners.

Wheelbarrow the width of the field and do 5 derkins. Swap positions and come back. Second round, the standing partner does 5 overhead presses with his wheelbarrow.

Mosey to the poles for and indigenous people leg lift – one time through while the Pax holds 6 inches or 90 degrees.

Back to the first traffic ring for Mary.

    • Rosalitas
    • APDs
    • Hello Dolly
    • American Hammers

Back to the flag where the guy in the Red Shorts took us out. In fairness, we could have used a boat or a canoe with the amount of standing water today.

  • Welcome to Cell Block HBR

Three modern day warriors gave every sad clown ever to grace our planet a massive middle finger, waking up early to embrace the suck of cold, wet weather.  Here is how things went down:

    • Mosey from the parking lot to the bus loop to find cover for COP
      • 30 SSH
      • 15 IW
      • 15 DQ
      • 10 2x merkins
      • 30 2x LBC
      • 10 Suzanne Somers – each leg
      • 10 scorpion kicks
      • 10 pickle pounders
    • 10 minutes of burpees
    • 40 APD OYO
    • Jack Webb
    • Captain Thor
    • Triple Check with wall sit, run the loop and crab cakes
    • Mosey back to the parking lot with COT and YHC taking us

Handshake was full of smart commentary today.  First, this was a cell block special.  Small, confined, cold, dry spot and not much meandering.  Also during the triple check, he properly noted that YHC is built for comfort, not speed.  YHC is not fast, but he is all about form.  Got no excuses for the fact that you need an hourglass to time my runs.

Great work by Offshore and Handshake today.  So grateful not to do it alone.  YHC was shaking his head at 5 am thinking of all the days to sign up in advance to Q.  Thanks for the support men!  It was an honor to lead you in this beatdown.

God is good all of the time!

  • Its not about you!

9 warriors posted on a warm sunny Tuesday morning for a run. Route was Mount Henrico for all except Sippy. Sippy’s route was out and back on Grove.

    NMM

Swirly got lost before he left the Robins center parking lot. He has done the route nearly 20 times and has only executed the actual route once. I don’t know what the confusion is, it is the same overtime. I was running without glasses this morning (due to the sun’s glare) so I couldn’t identify when Singer and Vinny started to follow Swirly and Bootleg. We corrected quickly and got back on path. Bleeder pulled a Fudd somewhere along the route, maybe on the loop, only one way to find out exactly where.

This morning was a fine example of why F3 works. Given the sun and the heat, YHC was looking for every excuse to not post. Despite my best efforts, I decided I couldn’t think of a good reason and posted anyways. Once the run was started, all was well, and the misery from the sun and heat was gone within a mile. So, thanks everyone for posting, it definitely motivated me to keep driving towards the start line and get out of my car.
