  • Three Man Hot Potato

Back to the VSF where Shakedown took us out.

    Moleskin

Perfect day for embracing the gloom and getting wet and muddy up front in the workout.  A fair amount of mumble chatter this morning with Saab not getting to do Don Quixotes as a result of too much talk.  By the 4 corners, not a word was said, so I will take that as success.

Dive Bombers have a different cadence than other workouts.  Perhaps it is a 5 count?  Either way, the reset call got us back to position.  The Honeymoon Suite never disappoints either.

    Announcements:

    • Puppy Pile – Later this month.  Not this weekend, but before February.  Ollivander is on point.
    • Grow Ruck – See Honey Do for details or the pre-blast.  Sign up and enjoy the suck.

    Time to Taper,

    Lockjaw

  • First Wednesday Downtown Run of the Year

Three downtown runners assembled at lunch for a quick run. Lab Rat was held up by work awhile, so YHC and Shakedown ran several laps before picking up Lab Rat. Route was our standard path…down to the 9th Street Bridge from the Capital, across and then along the river, back across the Potterfield Bridge and  up to the Capital. Lab Rat put in about 3.5 miles, Shakedown 4.5 miles and YHC 7 miles.

Come join us if you are downtown and available Wednesdays at lunch.

  • Ringing in the New Year with bells

9 DaVillians started off the post holiday year the best possible way, hoisting iron and strengthening fellowship.

We did the Murph!  Ran a mile around the perimeter of the school, then:

    100 Goblet Squats     200 Lawnmowers   300 Halos

    Run another mile.

Numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

YHC was having great difficulty thinking of exercises last night, so texted Mudface, who responded with a barrage of possibilities.  One of those was lumberjacks, and YHC thought “200 Lumberjacks, sounds great!”  Yeah, not so much, those were quickly modified to lawnmowers.  There was a lot of mumblechatter this morning, which only intensified when YHC gave Mudface a hard time for complaining (he wasn’t), but Mudface took this as a challenge, and proceeded to demonstrate to the PAX how it would sound if he did complain–10 minutes later we were all well educated!  J/k, this led to a lot of back and forth, including memories of Mudface’s first Q involving broken cinderblocks, and Rounders recalling when he used to ruck around the neighborhood with a 30 pound pack, back before it was cool….  The PAX crushed the Murph, leaving YHC in their dust.  Well done, gents!

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing.

COT – Numberama, Name-o-rama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

YHC decided to step out of his comfort zone this morning of Mechanicsville or even WDOG and travel to SOJ to Q a location he had only been to once.  Last time YHC was at SOT was this past summer when it was light.  This morning, it was very dark.  On top of that, this was the first day back to school for Chesterfield students after the Christmas break.  Henrico and Hanover do not return until tomorrow.  Teachers were showing up as early as 5:30 AM.  There were also many buses moving throughout the parking lot during the time of the bootcamp.  During the 1st location of the COP, a bus drove down the road as YHC was getting ready to begin.  DK then advised YHC of a better location to do the COP.  Although there were no additional cars on that road during the COP, we had to move during the triple check and the plank-o-rama.  Sugar Sock commented that he had not seen cars in that location before.

Excellent job to all PAX members this morning.  YHC always enjoys making the trip south whenever possible.  It was great seeing Doublemint this morning.  Hope to see you at another AO soon.

    Gotta Run!

  • NYE Punisher Pub Tour

A PAX of four posted for the NYE Punisher Pub Crawl.  Quick circle and stretch in the schoolyard grass before takeoff.  Hit sidewalk adjacent to school grounds and head east along Laburnum Avenue, left on southeast bound side of Fauquier Avenue, another left on Nottoway Avenue, and a right on MacArthur Avenue to Dot’s Back Inn for one H²O, one cider, and two beers and a little fellowship.

Pay up, walk out, and continue south on MacArthur to Nottoway, right on Nottoway, and left on Hermitage Road past Holton Elementary to Kitchen 64 for another round of the same. Pay up and return to LHES.

Nice work Gomer Pyle, Johnsonville, and Krü.  Happy New Year all.

  • Rogue Spider Run

3 Pax showed up for an early morning run amid confusion and jet lag.

After realizing everyone else was working out at 7am, we decided to embrace the morning and hit a run anyway.

Short jaunt to Libbie/Patterson and back rounded out 4 miles, allowing Flipper to make it to the next workout .

Kudos to Hitchiker for getting off a flight from Korea and then hitting up an early morning run.

    Enjoyed the fellowship gentlemen.

  • Grab your screenshot of Big Data for today

32 came from across the RVA converged upon Heartbreak Ridge for their first 2019 post.

Honeydo:  COP of SSH, Don Qs, Merkins, Scorpion Kicks, Flutterkicks, Hillbillies.  Grab 2 Cinder blocks.  10 Deep Merkins on your Cinder blocks.  2 laps of Catch me if you can with 1 man carrying 2 blocks.  20 Overhead presses.  10 Sit & Press.

Handshake:  Head to Pemberton ES Bus Loop.  Wheelbarrow up and back with Merkin at each pole.  Crab Walk up hill while other man Flutterkicks.

Mr Holland:  Drop coupons back off and head down to Heartbreak hill.  Triple check-ish of Jerkins, Bernie Sanders up heartbreak hill, run lap with 5 Burpees at the 50 yard line.

Atilla:  Hot Lava Shimmy then 4 corners on blacktop:  10, 15, 20, 25 WWII Situps.  Back to Flag.  TYA took us out.

NMS – Despite Kubota’s lobbying to start at 5:30 the 7:00 crowd was strong with 32 pax including FNG Swinger.  Flipper got an early start at Spider Run apparently.  Several PAX were sweating off  the previous night excesses and not at 100% (including YHC).  Each PAX grabbing 2 Cinder blocks was a little much, had Fudd been there he’d ask us to build him another shed with them.  It is good to get some use out of all that fancy new material that the Henrico Co. meals tax we are paying for.

Handshake must’ve been gunning to have someone spill Merlot with his Wheelbarrow/Merkins.  Not sure he accomplished that goal but guessing some pax were close.  Then why not burn the shoulders up more with a good 100 meter crab walk? Swiper lamented on the run back that between the Cinder blocks, Wheelbarrow, and Crab Walks that this morning was not the day to forget his gloves.

Mr Holland said muddy shoes be dammed, we were going to the Jerkin Gym which was muckier than ever.  On the 4  Corners Jville blew the PAX away, hitting Respect hasn’t slowed him at all.

Mr Holland treated the PAX to coffee for those making it to Starbucks.  Pretty sure we won’t be asked back there, definitely not the same as ETs but still good times.  If you want to put a goal down in writing put it in the comments below.  For today those posting, 31 of us can enjoy we are tied for 2019 Big Data with Swirly.

YHC arrived home and talked with a neighbor while cleaning up from our combined NYE party.  She asked how many men where there and when I said 32 she said “That’s amazing” and you know what she’s right.
