YHC rolled into the AO early to find the entrance blocked by an idling truck without its driver.  Street parking for all today.  Hopefully this is the exception and not a sign of new deliveries to the school.

We got 300 Merkins in today for those doing the challenge.  A fine start to kick off the day.  Swirly did many more after the workout, which I imagine he will be knocking them out all day long in the office.

Welcome Hoser!  We left the AO with the name “Mountie” by YHC exercised his rights as a Q and changed it to Hoser.  Hopefully Bodos will tell you aboot the name change.

    MOLESKIN

YHC loves a good theme and also happens to love Halloween, perfect time for a Q.  If any of the PAX was actually in costume YHC overlooked and apologizes.  Lots of terrifying fun was planned from Zombie chases to a FrankenLindsay, but the Beast put up a hard 20-minute fight and there wasn’t enough time.  Alas, Halloween comes again next year.  Great to see Saabski back out at a bootcamp.  Hope everything is good.  YHC generally prefers action and comedy but a good scare this time of year is fun.  Throw out your favorite scare in the comments.  YHC’s favorites are Silence of the Lambs and Seven.  What you guys got?  If YHC knocks on your door this evening Snickers and Skittles are great, but IPAs and Stouts are even better.  Happy Halloween!

Absolutely no plan this morning other than getting in the last mile of the day.  With the dreaded 5’some, partner exercises and triple checks were out, so YHC’s old trust SUCK was in order.  Just needed a nice quad busting 11s to get warmed up.

Great effort and fellowship this morning.  Great to have Gatekeeper out again.  Keep posting brother!

Thanks for letting me lead this morning guys!  Always a pleasure.

    No More Gumbo For You!

  • Pre-Blast: Please Come to Hammers & Ales 11/10/18 6PM!

    Pre-Blast: Please Come to Hammers & Ales 11/10/18 6PM!

Brothers! Lug Nut and I need your (yes YOUR) help.

In one month, the Richmond Community Toolbank is hosting our annual fundraiser, Hammers & Ales. We need you, your Ms AND your friends to make this the success it deserves to be. Over the next month YHC will be spreading the Hammers & Ales good news to the popped collars of Tuckahoe, to the gluten free hipsters of Richmond Proper, to the Wildlings of DaVille, and to the reddened necks of my native SOJ.

Our goal is to get more than 250 people to attend this year, so we need you! The more people we get to Hammers & Ales, the more volunteers we can equip to get their projects done with the right tools for less money.

What: Hammers & Ales — Fundraiser for Richmond Community Toolbank
Where: 1407 Cummings Dr, Richmond, VA 23220, USA
When: Sat, Nov 10 at 6:00 PM–9:00 PM

Why: 2nd & 3rd Fs! Not to mention Vässen beer, merlot for the Ms, great food, local band The Green List, a silent auction and fun and games for HIMS, Ms and 2.0s.

How: Either email me at bbassett@gmail.com to let me know how many tickets you want (you can pay me later) or grab a ticket HERE.

    About Richmond Community Toolbank:

The Richmond Community ToolBank is a nonprofit tool lending program that provides fellow not-for-profit organizations with year-round access to an inventory of tools for use in volunteer projects and for facility and grounds maintenance. We provide tools to enhance the charitable sector’s capacity to serve, facilitating hands-on volunteerism in the greater Richmond area.

The Richmond ToolBank maintains an 10,000 sq ft warehouse in Scott’s Addition and an inventory comprised of more than 200 different types of tools and equipment in volumes large enough to equip thousands of volunteers at a time. Access to ToolBank tools eliminates the need for agencies to incur the expense of purchasing, repairing, and storing tools, reducing the costs associated with service projects and allowing these agencies to focus more of their resources on their mission.

  • Lazy Monday

YHC and Mudface, and no one else, hauled ourselves to Tomato Run for one last lazy Monday.  We rucked/walked about 3 miles.

NMS – YHC and Mudface signed up for the Rugged Maniac 5K obstacle course on 5/4/19, and need to start running rather than rucking to prepare, so today was the last non-running TR for us.  Halcyon days indeed.  Any F3 brothers who want to join us for the Rugged Maniac, please contact myself or Mudface.

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing.

COT – Numerama, Namerama, Announcements, YHC took us out

    NMS

YHC has not Q’d a workout since early September and it was time to re-engage. YHC could not have asked for a better set of warriors for this morning’s fun.

The PAX took off running down the road and Lab Rat started his normal mumble chatter. At one point he said something like, “This would be a great running Q, perhaps with 20 merkins at some point.” Wish granted… the PAX dropped to do 20.

It is hard to explain the feeling of “coming home” that I felt this morning as I started the COP. YHC’s M returned to work as a nurse last month and the family schedule has been thrown off, including F3 mornings. It felt right to be back and to lead the PAX.

Spit took us off-campus last week and YHC had similar plans for today. YHC had explored the new construction with some of his 2.0s over the weekend and he decided to take the PAX to the round-about. The PAX crushed the exercises and headed back toward the start.

YHC could not have been happier to be back in the fight with the PAX this morning!

  • Infiltration

“First we go south under the cover of darkness, then we attack North in small groups” was the order from Gen Tippecanoe.

The 7 man squad executed flawlessly on both trails and roads and met minimal resistance.

It all started with a rare showing from Ferlin who asked approval of those assembled whether #NoShirt, gloves, and ear warmer was acceptable for a 48 degree start. TYA thought for a moment, and you can tell that he wanted to object that he is the #noshirt king, but he said, “not sure about the gloves, hoss”.  Then someone said “Dude, you just do you” and there was much rejoicing.

Tippecanoe is PR seeking for the last few XC meets of the year, so he and YHC took off as fast as they could. Of course the trails and darkness slowed us down a bit, just enough for Hardywood to catch us right at the finish. 68min for the lead element.

Hutton and TYA secured the 6.

    Saab secured the road network.

    TYA took us out.

    Gitty up

  • So…. what do we do until 5:30??

Eleven West-enders came out to HBR for some HRMs and other fun the day before Halloween.  We covered a good amount of the AO by:

COP:  SSH, Don Qs, HRMs, Freddy Mercurys, LBCs, Imperial Walkers, Scorpion kicks.

Back to the main parking lot –  Rows of 2 and proceed around the lot, exercises on every arrow.  First side – Bear Crawl and 5 HRMs, then carioke & 2 burpees to other side.  Then finish with Crab Walk and 10 WWII Situps.

Then head up to blacktop behind school for Dora 123.  100 Hand Release Merkins, 200 Donkey Kicks, 300 Jump Squats.  Gotta hit the Jerkin Gym – 3 sets of 8 then finish up with one last AMRAP set.  Back to flag for 2 min of Mary.  Atilla took us out.

NMS- YHC arrived around 5:20 to find Hank Hill securing the AO.  A few more PAX came in, but then at 5:27 Mr Holland pulled up for what has to be the earliest YHC can remember.  He gets out of the car and it was kind of awkward as he seemed to think the PAX does something before starting at 5:30, having never been in this situation before.  YHC was temped to tell him we do Upright Alabama Prom Dates until starting at 5:30 but then more cars rolled in to give us another double digit HBR PAX.

Good to have P-Trap and Hank Hill continue to post, getting stronger each week.  The 100 HRMs got ugly after the first round, you know it is bad when you’re glad to get to Donkey Kicks.  YHC also learned that Handshake can knock out some Jerkins with ease.

After the COT LeTigre expressed interest in getting on the Q sheet, now if we can get Bromance in on the VQ action too! Overall the PAX put in solid work to earn some well deserved candy tomorrow night.

Annoucements – YHC forgot to mention the November Merkin challenge.  5,000 for the month, or more if you are Swirly…

Circle up for Mary: Flutterkicks, Hello Dollies, Dying Cockroaches

    Mosey back to flag

COT: YHC asked for a moment of silence to reflect on the violence in our country

    NAKED MOLESKIN

YHC had no plan upon arrival to the AO. Even if YHC had had a plan, leading the PAX to run away from Beaker upon his late arrival was definitely part of that plan. Still, it was as funny to see everyone’s reactions to such a stupid idea.

Love Field has never felt so long. The PAX was not pleased with the first bear crawl iteration…and 2nd one went down worse than that…and both crawl bear iterations were met with even more disdain than that. Goodtimes.

YHC called for 26 of most exercises. No one asked why, but it shouldn’t be hard to figure out. Here’s a hint.

Cold, wet hands this morning boys…

    Announcements

    Marmaduke is still collecting coats.

Hammers & Ales – Nov 10. See Viral for details.

VA Beach 2 year conversion this weekend. Anybody going?

  • Skeleton Run

16 strong posted and ran the Halloween Eve Morning Edition of Spider Run.  YHC grabbed and revived an old Splinter route which went (or was supposed to go) something like this:

4’s – Around the lake and up University to Ralston.  Right on Ralston and then an immediate left back onto University.  Go to end and venture up the driveway of death.  Continue past the old house and down the trail through the playground.  Right on Roslyn Hills up to top of the hill and reverse route back to the VSF.

5’s – 4 mile course but continue left onto September at the top of Roslyn Hills.  September becomes Countryside and follow down to a left on Ruggles.  Ruggles to a left on Roslyn Hills.  Right into playground and back to the VSF.

6’s – 5 mile course and add the mile loop around the UR School of Business.

Numberama, Namearama and YHC took us out.

    NMS:

YHC thinks he gave Saab-like directions this morning.  YHC thought everyone would remember this route from Splinter back in the Spring, but YHC didn’t realize that there would be a mix up from another route that he did this Summer involving the same trail.  Also, many PAX members wanted to take the “Gumbo trail Route” from last week’s Spider Run that offshoots the lake trail, but YHC corrected them.  After his first half of the 4 mile route, YHC decided to wait back at the playground entrance so everyone would know where to turn on the way back.  He forgot about Vinny and TYA, but they made it back.  YHC had a last mile PR back to the VSF due the fact that he likes to catch up to and get beside Bleeder with about 150 yards to go and have a sprint-off with him.  This can be deadly!  YHC challenges anyone to sprint against Bleeder at the end of a run.  YHC’s Garmin had his heart rate at 195 at the end of that sprint.  Well done, Bleeder!  A couple PAX moved up in the distance ranks.  Vinny got in 5 miles while running with TYA.  Great job!  Gomer Pyle joined the 6 milers (YHC thinks he used to be a 5 miler, he may be wrong???)  Rib Cage (the skeleton) didn’t make it far and sat down by a shrub on the trail near the playground.  Lug Nut did “Lug Nut” things and had us worried about him being lost again, but he eventually showed up.

Overall, it was a great morning for a run!  Gumbo and Gomer Pyle are really putting in the miles and are getting themselves ready for the half-marathon along with YHC.  Paces are picking up, but soon it will be time to taper.

Have a great day all and Happy Halloween tomorrow to all!

    Kubota

    keep posting!
