  • What would Honey Do Do…

A stalwart 16 descended upon Tuckahoe for light calisthenics.  This is what transpired…

COP:  Helicopters, DQs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, LBCs

Lindsay: Start at top of hill, perform 30 Heels to Heaven, run down hill and perform 10 Merkins.  Repeato.  Decrement/Increment each by 5 until you reach 10 and 30.

Run to back of school.  Perform x Donkey Kicks, Bear Crawl 10 or so yards, perform x Merkins, run to opposite side of field and perform x Squats. Repeato.    x=10, 15, 20, 25, 30

Build a Burpee:  Perform 1 merkin , 1 Jump Squat, 1 Burpee.  Then perform 2 of each, etc.  Repeato until finish at 7 Burpees.  Do this while running from one end of the court to the other (and back)…stopping in middle for whatever exercise is next.

Minutes of Mary:  Hello Dollys, Flutter Kicks, Reverse Crunches (per Upchuck), and LBCs

    Moleskin:

Most times YHC approaches a workout he asks himself “what can he hack from one of HoneyDo’s prior beatdowns, or at least inflict so as the PAX is similarly smoked.”  While the answer usually doesn’t quite make the bar, it is fun trying.  The following are some brief observations…

    • Upchuck was the first to finish the first set of H-to-H during the Lindsays, which seemed humanly impossible given the count was 30.  He promptly returned to the PAX and continued on…acknowledging he maintains his own special counting scheme
    • Fudd had his share of questions this morning.  Had YHC bothered to listen, he assumes they were all good ones.
    • As usual, YHC was terrible during the instruction period.  Build a Burpee is often met with many questions (Fudd notwithstanding) and today was no different.  He will work on this for future endeavors (or maybe not).
    • KeyMaster introduced our FNG Kubota (he is in sales for John Deere).  Welcome.

  • First Timers

5 RiverRun Vets and 3 new RiverRunners found themselves in the early gloom of the Bettie Weaver parking lot ready to take on a few miles and hills.  The route was explained multiple times to multiple PAX and finally all understood the basic route.

James River Road, right on Riverton Ridge Road, into Tarrington, 4 milers right on Welby Dr. left on Edmonton, right on Ashwell, across Robious down Twin Team and a loop around the school.  5 milers, left on Ashwell and do the Ashwell loop.  Add James River Road down to the park at the end to get to a little more than 5 miles and/or 45 min. if needed.  If you are Boudreaux’s follow Lugnut then do whatever you want just to get 45 minutes of running in.

Great to run with Shakedown and Devito this morning, two new running partners for YHC.  Shakedown dropped back on the first big hill but he kept up well after we circled back to show him the way across Robious Road.  Need to remember to bring the clippers out to trim the bush at Robious Road, the path is getting tougher to find.  Devito had his light after a recent run in with a buck in the dark, Lab Rat would be pleased (he’s also pleased to see his name in a backblast where he didn’t post).  Happy to see Boudreaux’s out this morning, not sure how many miles he got but he stayed close to the AO doing some laps until we returned.  45 minutes of that is better than the fartsack.  Without reflective gear or knowledge of the roads, it was probably the best choice.  Jville joined us for the beginning of the run but his gastrointestinal issues flared up again and he made an early exit to find the porcelain at home.

YHC was a little sluggish this morning but getting out for some miles and some good chatter along the was was the remedy for that.  Great start to the week.

  • Who did we agree was Q?

Three dudes in white long sleeved shirts and one other guy with a brain in his head toed the line at the Pump House this morning for trails:

    Route:

-Regular: Buttermilk to Forest Hill and back.  Roughly 7 miles.

-Insane:  Keep running until noon.  2 Full monty loops.  20 miles, give or take.

    NMS:

Saab and Lab Rat had an enjoyable run, once they got clear of TYA, who kept yelling that Lab Rat was talking.  Well yeah….he and Saab were having a pleasant conversation!  The regular run was great this morning, just a stunning morning to be out.

TYA and Swirly reportedly had a great run as well, even though both took a fall during the day.  They also got tied up in the bike portion of the King of the James event happening on the trails yesterday.  All’s well that ends well, as two healthy young men came out the other side.

    Lab Rat Apologizes…

  • 500 Days

18 stallions wiggled free of the Fart Sack for YHC’s 500th anniversary edition of The Dogpile.  Here’s how it went down:

Mosey through a sightseeing tour along the gravel road.  Circle up in the open field adjacent to the parking area.

    COP:
    1/2 x Hillbilly (YHC foot-faulted)
    16x IWs
    10x Hillbillies
    10x DQ’s
    Bunch O SSHs
    10x mercans
    20x LBCs

Mosey to Circle of Rocks for Elevens:
Inclined mercans, then bear crawl to short wooden posts for pole smokers.
After first round, audible to PAX Choice of bunny hops, bear crawls, or lunges.
(Note #1: Who knew how much glass one parking lot could hold?).
(Note #2: Bunny hops are no joke.)

Mosey to Picnic Shelter for Lindsey:
Start with flutters kicks (10) and run to bathroom building for donkey kicks (30).  Increase/decrease reps through the progression of 15/25, 20/20, 25/15, and 30/10.

Mosey to Great Lawn of Death for Red Barchetta:
Sprint length of field…at far end, 100x SSHs (in candance).  Sprint back to start.
Sprint 3/4 of field…75 2-count mountain climbers.  Sprint back to start.
Sprint 1/2 of field…50 Prisoner Squats.  Sprint back to start.
Sprint 1/4 of field…25 mercans. Sprint back to start.
Sprint a distance unintentionally greater than 10 yards…10 burpees. Sprint back to start.

    Mosey back to the flag.

Number-rama, Name-a-rama, Marmaduke took us out.

    Moleskin:

This was YHC’s 500th day as a part of F3, and it’s been a transformational experience.  500 days of building better physical health and better mental health, all with a superior group of role models.  Thank you, gentlemen.  It’s also been 500 days of sometimes sadistic (YHC says in the best possible way) and sometimes simply exhausting First Fs.  For today, YHC tried to work in some favorites the PAX have shared along the way (every 6 minute mercans are always a crowd pleaser).

Lots of mumble-chatter to start this crisp “sunny and 70” morning, at least some of which was directed at the Q for his foot-fault to start the COP.  When is an Imperial Walker not an Imperial Walker?  Apparently, when it’s a Hill Billy.

Way to push through on the 11’s.  Despite scouting the AO, YHC didn’t quite check the glass-content of the parking lot.  YHC apologizes (how are those hands, Helix?).  Thus, the audible to Bunny Hops, which are awful.  YHC apologizes again.  (YHC is starting to feel like Lab Rat).

And, hat’s off to Red Barchetta, or Bruschetta, or whatever was said.  The PAX seemed to love them some SSHs…all 100.  Who knew how welcome the “every 6 minute break to 10 mercans” could be?

Welcome to Strider…way to crush your first workout.  Also, hats off to Laughing Gas for pushing through.  Nicely done.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • Delicate Hands & a Love Triangle

The PAX started the morning with some 3rd F.  It was a great start to the morning as we continued our pre-game through 2 Peter 1:3-11 and our discussion of personal spiritual growth/development.  After sharpening our hearts and souls, we embarked upon sculpting the temples in which they reside.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 30 SSH
      • 25 IW
      • 25 DQ
      • 20 merkins
      • 20 crab cakes
      • 20 hello dollys
      • Arm circles – 10 big/5 small forward & backward
    • Burpee march – 15 burpees down the parking lot followed by 25 flutter kicks, 25 WWII sit-up and 25 APD; repeat 5x for 75 total burpees
    • Mosey to the jerkin gym for a ladder of jerkins – 7,6,5,4,3,2,1
    • Mosey to the softball field for a love triangle
      • Series of escalating exercises with bear crawls from RF to CF, lunges from CF to LF and backwards run from LF to RF
      • Exercises at each stop
        • 20 LBC
        • 25 LBC, 20 squats
        • 30 LBC, 25 squats, 20 FM
        • 30 squats, 25 FM, 20 Carolina DD
        • 30 FM, 25 Carolina DD
        • 30 Carolina DD
    • Mosey to the pillars
      • 25 pole smokers
      • Line of fire with 10 merkins each
      • 25 pole smokers
    • Mosey to the parking lot for stretching
    • COT with YHC taking us out

White Deer was sans gloves this morning, bemoaning the fact that he feared his soft hands would not make it through the workout unprotected.  Thankfully YHC did not plan a field trip to the gravel parking lots next door at Striker Park and the series of burpees and moseys further silenced any mumble chatter with regards to his delicacy.  Way to man up White Deer!

Welcome to Rounders and welcome back Byproduct.  Rounders was especially strong in his effort.  He attacked the burpees with an undeniable strength.  Good to have some of the DaVille PAX join us in the far West End.  You are always welcome.

Strong showing again from Nightcrawler, and for the record, his LIFO streak ended as he was early for pre-game.  Join us next week as Nightcrawler leads the pregame.  Cannot believe I just wrote that, but so looking forward to it.

Also, remember the Chum Bucket is doing a PM Punisher on Mondays.  If the fartsack sucks you in that morning, make up for it at Holden Elementary on Monday evening (6:45).

Great start to the weekend men.  As always, God is good all the time!  Enjoy the weekend.

  • The Alpine Beast

Five of the faithful convened for #Twinteam on a dry, comfortable late-October morning.   Johnsonville (YHC) took the Q, and this is what went down, more or less.

    COP warmup in parking lot:
    25x ssh;
    25x mountain climbers
    20x don quiotes
    10x imperial walkers
    15x hillbilies

Mosey maybe a 1/2 mile away over to the base of the TwinTeam hill for “the Alpine Beast” along about 200m of TwinTeam’s steepest incline. Like normal, there were 6 exercises, and we did 6 sets of 6 of each, but up and down the incline. Exercises were ‘mericans, side plank-walk strides (left), bear crawl strides, monkey humpers, side plank-walk strides (right), ‘mericans.

    Mosey back to VSF. COT

    Moleskin —

It was pitch black on Twinteam this morning — as in you could not see your hand in front of your face. That made things quite interesting. People were running into each other and stepping on each other. The 3 stopping points along the way were completely random and variable.

For future reference, it is probably better to plan the Alpine Beast for mornings when there is a moon. It did succeed in getting my heart rate up.

There was not much mumble chatter, other than speculation about how Wilson would have handled the chaos of the Alpine Beast in pitch black darkness.

Thanks for permitting me to lead.  Have a great weekend.  Jville

YHC found out the day before that they were doing construction at the church. This cut the size of the AO in half and minor adjustments were made to the plan. hard work was done by all. A couple of low punches were delivered during the bob and weaves. Mumble chatter and spirits were high trough the circuits as partner pushed partner. We say that this is a you vs you workout, but what i have seen is that it is a PAX vs the you that you were five minutes ago. the PAX pushes each other, cheers each other, raises each other to make each other better. From the first person done to the six the PAX is there.

    Thanks for letting us lead

  • The Unveiling of the Serpentine Route/Cocoons/”I cant put my arms down”/Swirly-isms for Winklevoss

A Charlie Foxtrot group of 20?!? came to embrace the morning, including a pair of rifty’s that included one visitor from the Dirty South (Gator) and his twin from a different mother, FNG Steve (Ralphy).  They were greeted with maps….uh oh.

    Route:

All routes took a serpentine pattern thru the neighborhood on the north side of the school, in between Grove and Patterson.  Basically follow this:

-East on Grove, turn left, then next left on Hanover.  Follow to end.

-Go right, then right on to Stuart.  East on Stuart to either Antrium (4 miler) or Hamilton.

-Left then left on to Kensington.  West until end.  Right, then right until Eastbound on Leonard.  5 Milers return to home base at Woodlawn.

–6 milers continue on to Hamilton, left up to Patterson, then come home on Commonwealth.

    NMS:

-The route:  Leonard threw most a curve ball, including YHC.  It seems that there is a cut-thru that would take you over to Leonard, but most of us ran down the alley.  But, you can only get so lost back there…no matter how bad you screw up, you are still within a mile from Munford.  YHC liked the route.  Expect to see it again, pax.

-The gravel roads and weaving thru the neighborhood reminded YHC very much so of his first two failed attempts to post to RAMM, which he was a couple minutes late.  He weaved his way thru a very similar route to this morning looking for the pax (which were probably just running up and down Grove).  Lab Rat has been thinking about this route for quite a while and finally took the time to lay it out on map my run.

-The run:  most of the 5 milers bunched up, with BT setting the pace early and Shakedown pushing the home stretch.  The main pax was Lab Rat, Gator, Ralphie, BIG Tennessee, Shakedown, and Swirly for a minute.  Speaking of Swirly, he fell out of the lead pack when he had to drop trousers in the alley.  Hilarity ensued when we all found out….this rolled in to a discussion of how you could use a sprinkler as a bidet, and how far you should put it up there…..as always TYA was the expert in all things regarding putting things in your butt.

-Winklevoss posted for the third time this week!  Much respect, brother!  He was a little late getting back to the VSF, so while waiting for him, Swirly went on a Tourettes-esque rant about his name.  It was quite impressive, even for Swirly!

-There was much discussion of SEC football on the group run this morning.  We had to shut it down when BT got extremely jealous that USC and UGA had a bye week this week, but UT had to play.  That could be the apology of the week……but………

Apology of the week goes to the guy that is going to have to clean off the back of his picket fence later on today.  If Lab Rat would have known the “pressure” that Swirly was under, he could have planned a route past Starbucks.  On the bright side, think about how big of a carrot he could grow there!

    Lab Rat apologizes…

  • Hutton’s Dong

19 dedicated souls emerged from the fart sack for a morning of fun and frolics.

    The Thang:

Mosey 2 feet to the field, 15x arm circles, 15 x helicopters, 43x LBC, 15 x Don Quixote.  Mosey around school, into Windsor Farms and to the Baptist Church field (a total of 1.02 miles according to Garmin).  7-11’s in the field.  7’s on short way of field with Burpees and Merkins, 11’s on the long way of the field with WWII Situps and Lt Dan’s  Mosey to Windsor road entrance and stop halfway down.  Pair up for Love Hill special.  Run to cary an back, partner does lunges, polar bears, and broad jump burpees, switch until all PAX at Cary.  Carefully mosey back to the shovel flag and finish up.

    NMM

Happy Birthday (yesterday) to Mr. Dance.  He turned and even (maybe odd) 43 yesterday.  Such a young pup.  Great to have Prohibition in from out of town.  Always good to have a guest for a beatdown.  Hopefully we gave him and appropriate workout and he will post next time he is in town.

During the 7-11’s the PAX was given YHC a hard time.  A hard time for my usage of “thats what she said”.  Please people, that is an appropriate response to just about anything.  You just have to have a little bit of an imagination and it fits with almost any comment.  I can’t remember the context today, but I am sure it worked despite indications otherwise from the PAX.  Since YHC was the Q, I took the opportunity to stop the harassment by calling for 5 burpees.  It works everytime.

So, going over to Windsor Farms is fun, but it does have its hazards.  On the way over, the PAX got split up because of traffic on Cary.  I decided to take another route back, knowing it would be a little riskier.  I urged all to run on the sidewalk, which was safer, kinda.  The sidewalk in that area is ridiculous.  The pavers are all messed up because of the big tree routes making running a difficult task. All survived, mostly.  On the way back, Saab relayed to YHC that EF Hutton had run into  a street sign and then in the description murmured something about a dong.  Saab was trying to describe the sound made when Hutton hit the sign, I interpreted it a little bit different and was trying to figure out how a sign had collided with that part of Hutton…after my conversations with Hutton, I realized it was just a sound that the sign made.  One request from Hutton.  He does not want avoiding a sign to be called out as a “Hutton” (ala Goldberg and curbs) in the future.  I am sure we will all be respectful of his wishes.

2.0 and double dip opportunities this weekend at Dogpile

    MS-

As PAX emerged from their cars this morning, the consensus was clear, it was cold!  No pre workout mile from Gumbo, who i’m sure will get it in later today to stay on pace with the monthly challenge.  Great to see Bobber roll in this morning, only to find out that McRib and Carmen fartsacked on him and he was solo in the clown car.  New Market held strong with 4 PAX members posting, even though the cold weather wanted to keep some from joining.  Mostly quiet PAX this morning until Mr. Roper asked why we have an Al Gore exercise but not a Bill Clinton, several demonstrations were suggested as what that might look like, trust me, none would get approved by corporate.  Chatter picked up from there, mainly due to the fact that the bodies started to warm up and blood started to flow. One thing I believe we can all agree on is bus exhaust has a bitter taste early in the morning!  Great work by all to stay alert as buses came and went.   Strong work by all this morning, shout out to Gumbo and Sparky for being out front all day and setting the pace.  Honor to lead this group and cant wait to do it again!
