  • ?what does the oreo say in German? NINE!

A grand 11 HIM’s RSVP’d “Hell Yeah!” to Oreo’s 9th Birthday Bash, which coincidentally also celebrates NTB’s 9th wedding anniversary. By the minimalist attire of ROSIE temps were 70 and Sunny (as always), but LWOODS’ impersonation of Randy from the Christmas Story movie (stuck in puffy snowsuit) suggested true temps may have been in the 20’s. Here’s how we celebrated YHC’s firstborn:

This tradition of celebrating Penniella’s birthday is now complemented beautifully with knowing we also celebrate NTB’s nuptials. Blanchard’s Coffeerama was spectacular- thank you again Snuff. YHC is deeply grateful to have such an amazing PAX of brothers to be in the gloom with. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Yours AYE! ~DTH

The gospel lesson for this past Sunday was about the King Herod’s murder of the babies in Bethlehem. Such an awful story seems out of place in this season of Christmas. I’m more positive than some people. I believe we’ve made progress in the last 2,000 years. Yes, there are plenty of examples anyone can give of terrible things that are taking place in the world today. And yet, Christmas is still about Peace and Goodwill to all. Lord, guide to do our small part.

  • Great Gloom for Running!

2 quadzillas emerged from the gloom for a warm weather run at AO Iron Haul! There was an early start and late finish on the morning to log some extra mileage and Choo Choo threw in merkins at the nature signs logging nearly 200 Merkins while YHC ran ahead and backtracked to stick with the Chooch. A lot of mumble chatter, farts and bubbly guts were taken record of.

It was great to have company this morning to really push ourselves! Way to push Choo Choo!

  • Are you sure this isn’t Kansas?

YHC was locking in for a solo beat down at the nation’s finest high school running track, when out of the gloom strode Offshore, with a 45 pound instrument of woe.

We did normal Tabata timed lifting things, with laps against the wind both ways.

    1. Warmarama
    2. Lawnmower pulls
    3. Weighted squats/lunges
    4. Clean and press
    5. Swings and curls
    6. Mary

Wrapped up with numbers and names. I hadn’t gotten to work out with Offshore before; it was good to meet a fellow 20-year RVA resident/out of towner.

Prayers for peace and patience through the Joy and Grind of Holiday Hosting.

  • Aiming a fart

Atilla told his doctor that he can’t stop passing wind, but happily, they are silent and don’t smell. He mentioned that he has farted twice since being in the office, and the doctor didn’t even notice. The doctor gives him pills and asks him to return next week. The following week, Attila returned and tells the doctor that his pills have made his silent farts stink. The doctor replies, “Good, we fixed your sinuses. Now let’s work on your hearing!

There was a lot of wind at the Deep–one that kept the flag flapping, and one that kept Attila’s ass cheeks flapping. A morning of only abs and legs helped one of those.

We started with some warmups of copperheads, DQ, Ukrainian Solders, Helicopters, LBCs and some other ab exercises.

We then headed to the bus loop for a Dora. Seven total pax had be adlibbing a bit and confusing the pax. We stayed together to do an individual Dora. We lunged to the next light pole and then at the pole did 25 Squats and 50 LBCs. After seven lights we did something like 100 double count lunges, 150 Squats and 350 LBCs.

Staying at the bus loop, six of us did an indigenous people run while Gomer crossed the grass to the other side. When the runners got to Gomer, the back of the line called out an ab exercise and we did 25 (with Gomer). Then the group continued around the loop (with a change of direction at some point) and Gomer crossed to the other side and repeat. Over a couple laps we did 25 WW2, Irish Hammers, Pole Smokers, V ups, Side Crunches, APDs & Penguins. We then forward lunged to the next poll and headed to the flag.

With 5+minutes left we did a jump squat ladder 10,9,8,7,6,7,8,9,10 and then from our six did Freddie’s, American Hammers and held our feet at 6 inches for 30 seconds.

We all left with tight abs, tight quads and wet asses. 1 mile in total distance.

    Convergence on Jan 1, 2026, 7AM, Dogpile. Heartbreak needs a Q tomorrow–who wants it!

  • Quiet morning in Rountrey

8 men met in a neighborhood pool parking lot to see what “Jabroni” had in store for The Alamo crew and this is what transpired.

Mosey back and forth in the Parking Lot and complete a COP.

Mosey back to the Parking Lot entrance and complete a 6 Mailboxes forward, 1 back and then complete 15 of an exercise and 10 of another exercise. Various exercises (SSH’s, LBC’s, Merkins, HMR’s, Squats, Imperial Walkers, WWI’s, WWII’s, H2H’s, Pole Smokers, Carolina Dry Docks, Derkins, etc.).

We moseyed left on Graythrone, right on Litton, left on Endstone. We took a detour onto the trail by the lake and went up the trail and then back and then completed our journey down on Endstone Trail, left on Port Savage, then right on Rankin to finish our loop.

Announcements – Breaking Bread is open the end of January (the last Saturday and Sunday of the month). New Years Day Convergence Thursday 1/1 at Dogpile at 0700.

Prayer Requests – continued prayers for Wildcat and Charlotte (my M’s Cousins Daughter). Wildcat is headed to Fairfax on January 6th and then begins a new regimen on January 13th. Charlotte was in Cleveland at the Cleveland Clinic the other week, but she’s back home now.

NMS – very quiet Pax this morning. Other than diligent counting during the COP the Mumble Chatter was minimal until we turned onto the Walking Path the chatter started to come to life. Wildcat was sharting the entire time, prayers for his Skivvy’s.

It’s been a while since YHC has been to The Alamo. YHC was glad to see an empty Q sheet on Sunday evening. Thanks for having me out.

PS – Happy Birthday to Matlock
