  • Ruck-a-ccino

The Hunt For Red Octagon led 5 HIMs to gather at the stop sign at 0530 with weight on their back and coffee in their hands. Off we went. Heist brought some energy this morning and set the pace out the gates. Discussions on fantasy football, the proper placement of a front door on a house, and if we should adopt a battlecry by saying three FFFs in succession (yes).

moving and grooving this morning. Good to get out with the group as always.

Great work from the PAX today.  Many of the usuals missed this beatdown that left YHC’s hands cold and wet as the PAX traversed the end zones on our hands.  Laps of luxury always provide a beatdown that is regrettable.

Prayers up for Fireman Ed and Fudd.

God is good all of the time!

  • Egypt ain’t got nothin on these pyramids!

4 Bermuda Beasts came out for the latest 5 am OTB Pull up and Dip Session at Goyne Park. Cool morning was a good reminder to have those gloves ready when the cold weather comes. Those pull up bars will freeze that grip.

It was mostly our standard Pull up and Dip session.

Pyramid take turns, increase the rep count by 1 each set until maxed

    Hollow Rocks x10 3 sets

Partner Pull up and dip pyramid

1 pull up 4 dips Increasing each set

    Walking Jerkins

    8 reps x3 sets

Finish with 3 Negative Pull ups. Holding the pull up as long as possible.

Great work by this Fearsome Foursome!

    YHC took us out

Final thoughts – It was a homecoming of sorts for YHC as I realized I hadn’t Q’d No Toll in almost 3 years. Strange considering it is the closest AO to my house. The PAX did an amazing job, despite some initial grumbling about running. The running was actually pretty effective in curbing the Chatty Kathy’s in the group. Doozy was the hero we all needed, lighting the path back to the pavilion. Strong effort by all.

    Mumblechatter from the Gloom:

    • Hitch’s paternity leave is going great and appears to consist of naps, daydreaming business ideas, having Swirly install a gas fireplace log and haunting Facebook Marketplace in search of potential SCCC Implements of Woe costing <$1 per pound of weight (shipping included). Won’t someone just play Sally Struthers and pass the hat some morning at COT so we can buy the man a kettlebell and be done with it? For less than the cost of a cup of coffee …
    • True story: Hitch had never seen a blade of grass before coming to America, couldn’t even conceptualize a machine such as a lawnmower. Now, he’s dreaming up startup businesses — many of them apparently tortilla-adjacent — and refusing to let Upchuck in on the Friends & Family round. The American Dream, baby!
    • The question came up, apparently by way of curious pax in Houston: Why is a shoulder push-up called a Carolina Dry Dock? The answer (as with so many F3 oddities): Because That’s What Dredd Called It.
    • Dogs, many of them in neon harnesses, were being walked in laps on the field adjacent to the track. F3/K9, perhaps … No word if they were doing Tabata in between.
    • TAP for MFaceplant and MTYA.

We’re here every Monday at the cushiest track in metro RVA to start your week off right. Join us — I’ll lead next Monday, then turn the reins over to anyone who wants to take a shot.

  • Hoedown

6 Steeds joined for a Handshake Q at Hoedown

Various exercises of various off campus parking lots and neighbor streets

NMS – Lower numbers than usual but we had a great time

Prayer Requests – today is the 5 year anniversary of Mary’s mothers passing, Faceplant’s M having a Benign Brain Tumor removed soon, Fudd’s sisters Cancer

YHC’s appreciates the opportunity to lead, we missed our crew that wasn’t with us.

  • New Attempts at Something Old

Chaplain warmed us up with a new creation called the double dozen, trust me you had to be there. Nevertheless, it’s one exercise with a 24 count (like I said, you had to be there). This was followed by three trips trips around perimeter of the facility while incorporating Merkins, Carolina Dry Docks, wide-arm Merkins, WW-IIs, Heels-To-Heaven, Flutter Kicks, and Baby Crunches. We ended the evening with a Triple Sec of Squats, Crunches, and a 100m run.

  • Stayin Alive, Stayin Alive

We are men called to action. And yes, that action may be saving someone’s life!!

Tues 10/15 and Wednesday 10/16 Trinity UMC hosted F3 RVA for a CPR class.

Our instructor, Pam Ferguson aka, Fergie, is a RN with Flatline on VCU Health’s Rapid Response Team. She answered the call and came to teach!! Fergie is dedicated teacher and a disciple to CPR!!

Thank you to Gomer Pyle for providing assistance with the location. And I love me some Fergie! Thank you to PAX members for the generous donation to reward Fergie!

Hope you learned something but never have to demonstrate!

    Loud and Proud,

    Flatline

  • Flat route at River Run

Headed left out of Weaver and looped through JRHS back to Robious. Right into Riverdowns North, left on Forest Creek, and another left on Lenox Forest. Cross Robious into Kings Farm. Turn around at Riverdowns South, just before hitting roller coaster, and reverse back to Weaver.

4+ total. Doozy hung with us while tapering for another half this weekend. Good luck Doozy.

    Good conversations this morning.

Prayers and quick healing for Singer as he heads into surgery on his elbow next week.
