NMS:  AWESOME turnout today fellas, for which YHC is truly thankful. It’s been too long since YHC has been a Rockwood regular due to Summer Tour and travels, but excited to get the gang back together to keep Rock&Roll the hottest Saturday AO in RVA. Welcome to Mudslide’s friend Will, AKA “Lockdown”, who embraced getting fit during the pandemic. And welcome back to Swanson, Kimura, Woodsman and Katniss! The DTH pipeline is only as good as if DTH actually keeps up with headlocking guys back out to the gloom! SO great to have ya’ll back with us! It appeared the PAX were pretty spent after a 45min ride on the Pain Train, but WAIT, Don Draper is about to wreck us all! (Brandon HILL has new meaning …vomit face). Thank you ALL again for your support over the years. We are nothing without the men we lift up, and on those who we lean upon. Yours AYE! ~DTH

13 lucky brothers accepted the DTH call to celebrate the DTH/Draper 6 year F3versary – 11 rucking, 2 running. Here’s how the 11 hefted PAIN around Rockwood:

    The THANG:

With final ruck lending/situating complete, Chaplain and House Party taking off for a romantic jog around campus, and rucker headlamps ON, the PAX took off at a brisk pace down the gravel road to The PIT. The PAX arrived to find the gate open and logs uncovered, they chose PAIN (14’ telephone pole size log), leaving CHAOS with the stack of 6-8’ cabers. YHC provided a brief welcome and disclaimer – plenty of guys and choosing only one log so only get under it if you feel comfortable doing so!  5 HIM’s led by Rodeo Clown shouldered the log and the PAX ventured out into the woods of Rockwood. YHC chose a smaller loop path and the PAX switch places under the log about 4 times during the 0.7 miles trek. PAIN was returned to its berth, and the PAX took off for the same loop at high speed carrying inly their rucks. Mumble chatter was plentiful and of high cheer. With time to spare the PAX continued from the woods loop to include a speedy trek around the full driveway loop of Rockwood, stopping periodically for the SIX, doing Squats or Lunges while waiting. The PAX returned in time to bid farewell to Warby leaving at 0645, and then returned to the PIT to pull out the 6-8’ cabers for the 7am Rock&Roll bootcamp. BTTF for COT, numbers, names, prayer, and group picture with an AWESOME F3 banner sported on the DTH-mobile.

    Circle of Trust

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Reinhold Niebuhr (1892–1971)

“His philosophy combines elements of Christianity with realism, emphasizing the tension between human aspirations for justice and the inherent flaws in human nature. He also developed the concept of “Christian Realism,” which advocates for a pragmatic approach to ethics and politics, acknowledging both the potential for good and the inevitability of sin.” Source: ChatGPT

The one thing that is truly within our power to change is ourselves. We need to have the desire, determination, persistence and the wisdom to realize how to go about making change.

Prayers for Fudd’s sister, Mary, who is battling a very serious case of cancer. We ask for the best in medical care and for Mary and her family, the strength to handle the enormous weight they are under.

Finish up with Bacon snack before the trip to Starbucks.

    Prayer Requests – non

NMS – solid morning at DP. Conversations ranged from how some prefer it wet and some prefer dry with high-friction, you needed to be there to understand the context. Conversations also about Life Insurance and its value. Lastly, YHC is writing the BB because Swirl Y was headed out of town and didn’t have time to write it up. YHC wanted to stay on-brand with Swirly and misspell “Mosey” over and over.

  • Surf and Turf’s First Q

Five guys woke up to start the week on a good note. Did a Mosey from parking lot to the bus circle for warm-ups: SSH, Imperial walkers, DQ’s, arm circles (both directions), merkins, and LBC’s.
Started out with 11’s calf raises and WW2’s. Bernie Sanders between each.
Next was a progressive 4 corners (actually 2 corners and 2 curves): 10 merkins, 20 Bobby Hurley’s, 30 SSH’s, 40 LBC’s. At each corner do previous corner’s exercises plus the new one.
Last was a Dora: 50 mountain climbers, 100 copper head squats, 150 flutter kicks. Mosey back to parking lot, numberama, namerama, Surf and Turf took us out in prayer.

  • Crossing the Line

Four brave souls embarked on the arduous being broken in order to be built up. The workout included over 60 Merkins, 90 WWIIs, 140 Lunges, 60 Carolina Dry Docks, 50 Monkey Humpers, 10-1 Man Killers, 11s of Merkins/WWII

  • Virgin in the Eye of the Storm

Popped my VQ today, in a tropical storm no less. Theme: AB day with two new competitive games (Scrabble and “Around the World”) because, after all, TGIF.

    COP #1: Abs

    • After perimeter school warm up jog: General Ab 10 count warm ups followed by 4 corners [ 10 atomic situps, 20 Freddies, 30 LBCs, 40 F-kicks ]

    COP #2: Team-Scrabble

    • I had pre-positioned a small bucket with all of the scrabble letters I could find in my house. Demo’d the bucket, then ran the PAX to the other side of the school and divide teams of 2. One buddy stays in plank position at the dry spot while other buddy runs in the rain to grab a random letter. He brings it back to the word tray. Switch. Goal is to spell just a 3-letter word – per dictionary rules of course – and the team with the highest point score once all teams had a word was exempt from 20 WWIIs. Plan to explain this more clearly and extend to 4 and 5 letter words in the future.

    COP #3: Around the World

    • At the blacktop, I had pre-positioned one pickleball. Would be better if it glowed in the dark, as this really tested PAX night vision in a storm. 3 on one side, 3 on the other side. Goal: chuck the pickelball as hard as you can to get it past Pax 1 on other team – then Run the perimeter to other side. If Pax 1 catches it, game continues and he chucks it back to Pax 2, then runs. Around the world continues until someone misses. If so, everyone drops for 10 WWIIs (or choose your poison) EXCEPT the victorious thrower who gets to gloat. We were soaked. Mr. Holland made me type that he defeated us all with two successful throws past pax.

COT: Trail Mix is on the hunt for part time work on weekends or any time. Shout out what you got.

    Opus took us out.

  • Pre-Party

House Party and I knocked out a run before the newly minted “Twin Team Lounge” opened for business. We stuck to our normal Robious Road Corridor route. HP was able to offer some excellent advice on dealing with some complex extended family issues – much appreciated! Made it back just in time for Last Call’s epic workout.
