  • From whence does the bright light come

Twenty, yes twenty (!) mighty men of Westhoe gathered in the gloom for a Monday morning beatdown. Bathed by the glowing luminescence of the Third Church building, casting rays of light which emanated out of every single window in the entire damn building, the pax ventured forth at 0530. Here’s what happened…

COP in the near Third Church lot: Deadman hang // helicopters // DQs // Ukrainian Soldiers // Copperhead Squats // APDs // LBCs // Planks

Merkin Jax  1:4 ratio : 1 merkin, 4 plank jax, 2 merkins, 8 plank jax, up to 5/20 and all the way back down. Mosey to middle lot

Endless Escalator! Perform 20 reps of exercise 1, run a lap. Exercise 1 + 2, Run a Lap, Exercise 1+2+3, Run…..all the way up to Exercise 1-10 and Run a Lap. Exercises:

    • Merkins

    • Squats
    • Crunchy Frogs
    • 2x Mtn Climbers
    • 2x Imperial Squat Walkers
    • Reverse Crunches
    • Burpees

Audible was called at 6:05, the whole pax started at the top and worked our way down the ladder, 10 reps each. mosey back to the school

COP: Swirly led some final ab excercises

NMS: awesome morning to have so many guys come out. Lots of mumble chatter about why YHC cannot get the contractor to turn off the lights of the church building every night. Attempted confrontation of contractor was thwarted, maybe next time.

Next Monday Convergence at Knuckleville somewhere way out West. SYITG!

  • They did run this far

9 Early risers ready for a river run, rumbled out of the fart sack to hit the road. The route was through JRHS parking lots, right on Robious, left on Winterfield to Independence neighborhood try to get to the stop sign or turn around at 22.5 minutes.

BTTF Numbers / Names Chaplain took us out

    NMS:

SOT is developing some real runners, YHC turned around just shy of the stop sign (2.83 miles) on Founders not expecting to see anyone until we were all back at the flag. To YHC’s surprise a strong group of runners was coming down the hill on Founders. House Party, Lone Wolf, L Woods, Chaplain and Pacer had made it to the 2.5 mile mark and turned around to head BTTF. YHC had miscalculated the milage for the Independence run thinking the 4 mile route would be to the stop sign and back which actually ended up being just over 5 miles

  • OTB BranderRUCK

Four chiseled warriors found gloom on the other end of the day rucking a little over five miles around the perfectly paved trails of Brandermill (distance and pace varied between devices). Thanks to MEATBALL for the route and leading a blistering pace! Welcome to FNG STEVE who’s from our church and lives near Bon Air – he’s looking forward to earning his nickname at a bootcamp soon! And always awesome conversing with KATNISS. Thanks for choosing the hard path fellas – we’re getting stronger together! Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Breaking bread & grilled chicken

It was a privilege to grill & serve a late summertime meal to the folks at Breaking Bread – headcount of 11 and there was a spirit of thankfulness amongst the crew. A few stories were shared between the guys and I’m looking forward to signing up for another round. Thanks to Oyster for his continued organization of the endeavor for the RVA region!

    Until next time – GP

  • Sunday FUNday

Welcome to F3RVA, where breaking away from the status quo serves the F3 Mission, brings families together, creates momentum and space for FNG’s, and where we get to have a whole lot of fun together in the process!

The usual runners took off for BRR training while 23 ruck-loving F3 Dad’s, a gaggle of awesome kids, and a couple FNG’s hit the North Bank trail towards the city. The PAX stopped to count off a few times, stopped at about the 40min mark within sight of skyscrapers, snapped a group pic, and then reverso marched BTTVSF for a total of 3.3 miles in 90 minutes.

    COT:

    • Counterama # 30
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Below)
    • YHC took the PAX out in Prayer

    Prayer Requests:

    • Pool Boy’s 15 year old cousin getting scans for Melanoma
    • Offshore’s Dad passed away a couple weeks ago

NMS:  Awesome numbers out this morning and welcome to all our FNG dads and kids!  FNG NICK is a Poolboy’s friend and he’s gonna come out to Goyne Park soon to get nicknamed with those guys. FNG MATT is Rodeo Clown’s new neighbor and he’s excited about plugging in with the Midlo PAX. If there’s ever a question about whether changing things up at an AO might prove beneficial, remember today. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Is the project wrapping up?

4 Dogpile veterans emerged from the gloom get a status on the Carillon renewal project which has appeared to be without end. Today, however, behind the fence it appears much of the extra material and equipment has been removed. Could they possibly be nearing completion? Nobody appears to be holding their breath.

    The workout went like this:
COP – SSH, Helicopters, DQ’s (nice and slow), IW, Dead man hang, Copperhead Squat, The Merkin, LBC, APDs all IC

Mosey to the end of the field and perform incrementing merkins at each light pole down to Condie. Cross the road and do incrementing WWII’s at each light pole coming back

Saunter to the Amphitheater and do 5 dips on each step going down

Navigate through the set of Rapunzel down to the Pipeline for a four person triple check, err, quadruple check with three cycles, something like that. One person ran while the other three cycled through American Hammers, Lunges, and Squats

Back up the hill to the Amphitheater: starting at the bottom alternate 1 merkin and 2 merkins to the top.

Back to the flag for Mary, stretching, and savasana.

  • Let’s run some hills!

16 or so PAX emerged from the gloom looking for some mileage and were greeted by gorgeous weather. YHC picked up the Q at the last minute and leaned on a route from earlier in the year to add some hills to the RAMM diet this week in honor of the upcoming BRR.

The route is mapped here: https://onthegomap.com/?m=r&u=mi&w%5B%5D=Routes+may+not+be+suitable+for+public+use.&c%5B%5D=Route+data+%C2%A92023+On+The+Go+Map%2C+OpenStreetMap+Contributors&d=8090&f=6f235d0b33&n=1&dm=1&context=share&r2=ixeb7zgWvEc1l2s1l3i1x2o1f3o1f3s1j3u1r3c1j2Ml18FMj1o1f349w1v3m1Z3_1%7E3u1p34Be1l2o1h3c1j2U%7E1u2t5W4h8_3d8w3z7NFl4f3j5j4z3h2v2X2%7E1TJ7f1D6X1p4p3DBf2x1f1X1LLx1X2l8r6x2Lp2l1n1p1j4X3h1LH1F0Z1IRUFK58f2u28o1GCu7y5C6c1Gm24W3Gu2g2g5k4k1W2Y2s3g2c2W4w3KCQs2GCUSW1Y1IUEy16m12G2q1Li2f1q1b1g1BAj2m152X16PBn1JZ1F7Eb1m2X4d3JHCp10p2VX2b1Vh2r1JJTVt1f2X1X3Dt2Ht1X1r1Vj17NFv1z21h3Ul2OY1m2j1w1NOHUDo19o1Lm4f1s2x1_3z1_39Od1s2d7qF5Y16SAEm2_1a1Sa3k2a2n4W4j8m2d5W1b227y1z3q2l6Qz1CPMVSRW1o2Y1w2K_1Ma2Cy1Oo1_1e1S0y11u1Ns1f1q1n2s4w3c1l28Da1Gi2W1Y3c2oDu944t2u5TW2b1k2n1i3d1m23Ct1q3z1W4l1a3v1w33An1g3T_1Lm1b1k2t1s3r1k3n1g3n1g3h1y2r1m3Lm1

  • Cultural missteps

6 dudes met for various exercises on -or- around a high school campus today. New exercises were completed, Phonics was too tired to be chatty, and Mr. Holland made it known he was not a fan of Pencil Rolls.

This was YHC’s second post at Dapile and YHC’s first time Qing. A few cultural missteps were made on YHC’s part. Apparently Dapile is more like Dagridiron, but the Pax was still very gracious.

Announcements – Labor Day Convergence – at Nuckols Farm new AO. Maybe to be named “Nuckols Deep” or at least it’s officially unofficial.

Prayers – Bulkhead had Knee Surgery yesterday. Continued prayers for his mother as well.

NMS – Thank you to Daville for the opportunity to Q. Also, Lab Rat has recovered the RVA Ghost Flag and its back in action.

  • Come all to Mudslide’s

i will start with welcome to False Fall. It is where we get cooler weather, the heat and humidity sit back then ready to make one final blast before fall or in this area November rolls around. A ready, pray that no one dies group of 14 came out for another episode of how will we feel after Mudslide gets a hold of us

Warning up…. The usual SSHs, Don Quixote, Helicopters, Jazzercise(Nancy came out, I had to do them), Cherry Pickers, Merkins, LBCs, Alabama Prom Dates. I made a promise that we would be in areas that the joints would not take a beating. I did not promise that I would spare them getting beaten up. We moseyed over to the ball fields to begin

First up…. LINDSEYS(2 exercises totaling 40 reps). They were plank jacks and jump squats nice starter to get warmed up the run was from the left field foul line to the lights and back

One final thing…. This year I have decided no obstacle course races(taking the year off). I was going to do Spartan next month but there’s a lot not only physically but mentally with travel, planning and other things that can get tiring. This time right now is allowing me to rest, relearn thing plus get my body and mind in better shape. 2 goals for next year: 1 this is one that had been on my list for a few years to do all 3 races one weekend that chance will probably be in May 2025 in NC. 2 allow you guys that extra time to set things come September 2025, we get abig F3 contingent out there whether on Saturday, Sunday or both days get your first Spartan medal. I can do things for this year running a race or 2, have some fun with them find something unique to try. If you see me now versus 6 months ago, way different yet I still want to get even better so now I have the time to see where I can go how much better, improvement etc. I will see you next time
