  • That’s alot of running… F3 Olympic Decathlon

6 Rva Olympians came to represent their region at the 1st annual F3 Olympic Decathlon! Chaplain was about half way through the warm-up tour and commented “this is alot of running” – indeed Chap, indeed… 10 stations and a mile of running total in between for each lap made for a smokeshow at Goyne Hard today. The cheering crowds witnessed the following displays of strength and endurance…

    • 10 Stations – Run in between (See map) – 1 mile total round trip
    • 20 Reps at each station
    • #1 – Decline Merkins (Stadium Stairs)
    • #2 – KB Swings
    • #3 – Cindy Curls
    • #4 – Groiners
    • #5 – Burpees
    • #6 – Cindy WW3’s
    • #7 – Pull-ups
    • #8 – Dips
    • #9 – Polesmokers
    • #10 – Table step-ups

Final times and medal counts are listed below – great job by all pushing hard at this. The running in between the sets made for zero recovery. Think Old/New Glory with weights thrown in. Go America!

    • Gold Medal – State Farm – 2 laps in 35min
    • Silver Medal – Chaplain – 2 laps in 36 min
    • Bronze Medal – Touchdown – 2 laps in 38 min
    • Honorable Placement: House Party, Broadway, Beaver – 1.8 Laps in 39 minutes

Thanks again for joining on this guys – loved it!

  • Does anyone have any food (exercise) allergies (restrictions)?

2345 hours Friday night and YHC was checking the Q schedule for Dogpile and noticed an open Q for Gridiron. Quick math was completed and YHC realized that not only could he lead his Virgin Q but he could also get an extra hour of sleep, so YHC grabbed the Q and immediately went to bed. At 0630 when YHC work up he hadn’t begun to think about what to do. At 0650 as YHC approached Gridiron YHC saw a neighborhood on the left of densely packed homes and thought to himself, “I wonder if they’ve ever gone over there?” And the ideas started to percolate.

0700 and the workout commences, 8 strong to include 2 out of 3 of the Huddle Crew. We moseyed over to the track for a COP with various exercises. We had to relocate because of the lady walking the track, we would have blocked her route. We made over way over to the neighborhood and YHC stole a page out of EF Huttons playbook: Car/SUV/Van workout rotation. 5 Merkins at every SUV/Truck, 10 WWII’s at every Car, 1 Burpee at every Van and if we spotted a Cyber Truck then 10 Burpees would be done. It was a densely packed neighborhood, luckily the people of Glen Allen don’t love SUV’s as much as the people of Tuckahoe. This rotation seemed to go on forever.

It was time to make our way back towards campus so YHC asked White Deer to lead the way. YHC said that we’d run as far as White Deer could go and when he stopped we’d do some exercise. We made over way over to the Kid Med/ Kids Experience parking lot and YHC called on Tater to pick our poison. 10 Crunchy Frogs and 10 Squats at each parking spot.

As time was coming to a close we did an Indigenous Peoples Walk back towards campus. As we approached the Football field we saw a lone person doing exercises. We all thought it was Seymour at first, but it turned out to be Piglet. Apparently he arrived about 10 minutes late and after searching for us he decided to do a solid Beast, The Hard Way. It’s clear that Piglet has been fully indoctrinated into the Huddle family, since a solo Beast would totally be On-Brand for Pigskin. YHC decided to jump into the routine until YHC realized he was doing it The Hard Way and we’d run out of time.

We moseyed back to the flag for 2 minutes of stretching to wrap things up.

Announcements – Pickleball Tournament next Saturday. 10 year Anniversary coming up on September. Additional announcements will be posted in the comments section on Slack.

NMS – YHC realized since this was his first time Qing at Gridiron that it is a special responsibility. It’s akin to being a wait staff at a swanky restaurant where you need to ask if anyone has any food allergies, or in this case any exercise restrictions (sorry White Deer). YHC mistook “can’t run” with “didn’t want to run”. Apparently with his knee replacements he shouldn’t run. YHC will do better next time.

  • Appropriate Punctuation

Equal parts runners and bikers, this crew covered miles in all directions. The runners explored the Wilton House territory with its mix of hills and straightaways.

TYA took us out with a message that we should reflect on weekly, if not daily. Let’s mark these chapters of life with ample punctuation to differentiate the passing of time.

  • The BEASTie Boys

Rain, sleet, snow or tornado warning…NO DAYS OFF! 6 grown boys got after it this morning and braved the storm at Satan’s Hill!

WARMARAMA – Moseyed to the bottom of the hill and back. Skipped over the F3 mission this morning as the PAX was full of grizzled F3 vets. Jumped into it with…SSH’s, Dead Man Hang, LBC’s, Rosco’s Mom, Merkins, Wilson’s Wife and Fudd’s Wife.

The THANG – YHC was torn between implementing a traditional Build a Beast or another variation of it. After a quick brainstorm with the PAX, we decided to mix it up!

COP #1 – Build a Beast(ish). Started at the bottom of the hill and stopped at six different spots on the way to the top. Repeated the exercises on the way back down. Initially called for (6) rounds but YHC audibled to (5) to mix in some other work. Used S.H.R.I.M.P as an acronym to help explain…

    • Cone #1 (S) – (6) Squats
    • Cone #2 (H) – (6) Heels to Heaven
    • Cone #3 (R) – (6) Reverse Lunges
    • Cone #4 (I) – (6) Imperial Walkers
    • Cone #5 (M) – (6) Merkins
    • Cone #6 (P) – (6) Plank Jacks

    COP #2 – Triple Check

    • PAX Member #1 – Pacer, ran around the gazebo and back.
    • PAX Member #2 – Curls with a coupon
    • PAX Member #3 – Jerkins

  • CSAUP Training

Two hardheaded PAX met at Lararus Park to get some BRR training miles in on a Thursday afternoon. As soon as we got out of our trucks the floodgates opened up. We took to the trails and spent the next several miles doing some good Steeplechase training through streams on the trails.

Always good to hit the trails with Shakedown!

  • Upchuck the Omniscient

Seven RAMMers debunked Debby by huddling in the non-lit parking lot waiting for instructions. Once they were given, and Upchuck proclaimed his prediction was accurate, off we went through the knee high fescue for an oldie but goodie route.

    The Route

    • West on Groooove
    • Right on Three Chopt, right on St Christophers
    • Right on Patterson
    • Spot the golden arches
    • 4s right on Westmoreland

    Moleskin

YHC finished #bigdata last night and was surprised while reading through some of the early RAMM backblasts how simple they were (Inaugural RAMM). TYA always jokes about that but for some reason YHC didn’t realize how consistently simple they were. Always on Grove, generally with time at the end for a little Mary before the clock ran out. Today was a tribute to some of those OG routes, simple but effective.

The east wind made for a quick jaunt down grove, followed by stale air on St Chris before turning right into the belly of the beast on Patterson. Wind and a little rain was welcome as the tropics were in the air.

Enjoyed the fellowship as always gang. SYITG.
