    The South has risen again! 7 SOJ versus 5 Tuckahoe natives = successful Q steal from Kubota, in spite of some initial protests about technical clown car regulations (this is where NTB hangs his head in shame). Kubota was made to poke a couple holes in his weinke and wear it like a ghost sheet for the entirely of the following workout:

    Six strong veterans of HBR were surprised when the Q took off in a new direction for the COP. Here is what we did:

    COP on football field: SSH, Don Qs, Hillbillies, Ukrainian Walkers, Merkins, LBCs. Stop to do some Suzanne Summers in honor of her passing. Over to Jerkin Gym. 3 Rounds of 8 Jerkins. Up HB hill and back down 3 times with 10 Heels 2 Heaven. Back over to Jerkin Gym for 3 rounds of 7 Jerkins. Over to bleachers for HD favorite: Benchkicks. 4 rounds starting at 30 Benchkicks, increase by 10 each time. 10 Derkins in between. Another 3 rounds of Jerkins, 6 this time.

    Mosey up to DK wall for Triple check: Balls2Wall, Flutterkicks, & run blacktop & back. Finish with alternate bear crawl and lunge on basketball court. 10 Squats each hoop. Back to flag, 2 min of Mary then out.

    NMS: It’s been a while since we varied the COP from our normal spot. Pigskin said he’d never had a COP down at bottom of the field. Always good to shake things up. Our normal Mumblechatter machine is on the IR but plenty of fun with this small but strong PAX. YHC almost forgot Atilla’s favorite Suzanne Summers in the COP. Days like today remind YHC how great an AO Heartbreak Ridge is. Surprised SOJ did not forge the James and take this AO over.

  • A Lot of Running for a Bootcamp

    A fit fourteen of RVA HIMs avoided the toll roads around SOJ and emerged from the crisp Fall gloom for an NTB beatdown. The early-rising dog walker told Snuff to tell Last Call to tell Mr. Roper to tell YHC what he observed this morning:

    WARMARAMA

    05:29:45 – Excited for the day, DTH takes off early for extra credit while YHC and the PAX catch up for a half-mile lap around the parking lot and soccer fields. Circle up in the parking lot for welcome, disclaimer, and various IC movements to get the large muscle groups firing.

    COP 1: Couplet Ladder – The rep count gets shorter as the run gets longer. Crank up the tunes to drown out the monotony. Don’t even bother keeping up with Doozy.

    • Round 1: 100 Flutter Kicks / 100 Single-Leg Lunges / Lap Around the Parking Lot
    • Round 2: 75 FKs / 75 SLLs / Lap Around the Parking Lot and Field 1
    • Round 3: 50 FKs / 50 SLLs / Lap Around the Parking Lot, Field 1, and Field 2
    • Round 4: 25 FKs / 25 SLLs / Lap Around the Parking Lot, Field 1, Field 2, and Field 3

    Six is in, 15 minutes left on the clock. Mosey to the basketball courts.

    COP 2: Suicide Bear – 10 WWII’s at the baseline. Bear crawl to the free throw line. 10 Merkins. Crawl bear back to the baseline. Rinse and repeat to half court, opposite free throw, and opposite baseline.

    Two minutes remaining. Stay on the baseline and spell the alphabet with feet together off the ground. Time was called and we gathered for COT.

    NMS: Great mumblechatter from the back of the PAX today. YHC is grateful for the consistent showing at NoToll and the push from the rabbits to always run a little faster than what’s comfortable. There’s a name for everything in F3 and YHC’s new vocab word of the day was the smurf jack.

  • Three Amigo Kettlebells

    Three beasts met at the Old Hundred parking lot to get their kettlebell on.

    Quick mosey and the warm-a-rama. Helicopters, Ukrainian soldiers, DMH, merkins.

    COP 1- Legs. 25 squats, 50 calf raises, 10 each single leg toe touches, held an Alabama prom date up position and raised one leg for 10 second each for a minute each leg. Lunge to squat walk to the center of parking lot.

    COP 2- Abs. 50 American hammers, 20 WW3s, 10 sit up to stand, 20 each side- side bends, 100 bent knee torso twists, 20 good mornings.

    COP 3- Upper body. 15 each arm curls, 40 skull crushers, 15 each arm plank lawn mowers, 20 upright rows with shrug, 20 behind the back shrugs, 10 merkin pull throughs, 20 KB swings, 20 chest press with KB raise, after set, held KB above chest for 10 seconds, 20 presses, 10 second hold, 15 press, 10 second hold, 10 press, hold 10 seconds, 5 press.

    Walked the length of the parking lot farmers carry, switch hands at half. Walked back to flag KB overhead, switch half way KB out front.

    Reliving our younger 6 pack days, we finished with 3 minutes straight of flutter kicks with KB above chest.

  • Just a Taste of the Turkey

    Seventeen or so young lads gathered to discuss what a non Lockjaw Q may look like. We waited for Lockjaw to appear but he never did. The only directions this morning were that we were tackling the first third of the turkey trot route. Off we went, ready for some intervals.

    The Route

    Warm up run by the lake, veering right up the first hill. Pause for brief instructions. Two intervals up the first hill with the first treated as a warm up and the second continuing up the hill and out Campus.

    Continue up Campus then u-turn down Towana. 1 mile marker is right at the u-turn. Collect ourselves at the intersection of Towana & Roselawn. Two intervals up Towana and two up Roselawn. Recover uphill after the second interval on Roselawn to a right on Ridgeway.

    Continue down Roselawn, briefly disturbing the peace, earmuffs for “shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit”, then collect ourselves at the corner of Ridgeway and Fairway. Two intervals back up Ridgeway plus a bonus interval for Bodos to try to prove himself.

    Recover back to the VSF for numbers, names, and YHC took us out.

    Moleskin

    Great turnout for the first non-Lockjaw run in these parts since August. The thirteen or so runners today shouldn’t have any difficulty remembering the first 2.25 miles of the Turkey Trot on 11/21.

    Prayers out to our PAX members that are dealing with difficult times, whether work, personal, or physical.

    Good luck to Bone Thugs as he tackles his first half marathon this weekend. You will crush it!

  • Can’t Go Bowling

    7 gents who are just as eligible for a bowl game as the undefeated Dukes rucked or ran on a dark and cool October morning. Ruckers started at 5:00, looping back at 5:30 for a late arrival. The 3 runners took to the track for another tempo effort, which, according to Opus, did not suck but instead really sucked. There was some discussion about rucking a 10k at 5:00 on a Saturday before Dapile and a possible lunch club upcoming. Numbers, names, and Opus took us out.

    4 Obstacle Course Runners showed up to the inaugural Bermuda Triangle 5k OCR Course. The walker that Big Rig tried to EH witnessed the following :

    Mosey to bottom of hill. Do front facing crab walk up to the top.

    Mosey to Pavilion. Do 10 Step Ups on one leg. Switch to other leg for 10 Step Ups.

    YHC arrived today planted the flag and with no one at the Q for this one, annouced a HP was in order this morning and 4 others joined the party and here is what went down.

    COP

    Slow mosey to the East Entrance of Atlee HS. We circle up for 10 4ct SSH, 10 DQ’s, 10 Imperial Walkers, 10 Helicopters, 15 arm circles, 10 small and 5 big, reverso, 10 Alabama Prom dates, 10 reverse scorpions, 10 scorpions and 20 merkins.

    The THANG

    We mosey to the parking lot and set up 4 stations with a runner as the timer. Station 1 – Dips, Station 2 – Alternating Lunges, Station 3 – LBC’s, Station 4 squats, Station 5 -run to the 3rd island in the parking lot and return as the timer. We all rotate stations to complete a set. Perform 2 more sets for a triple check.

    Hand off to Bulkhead – who has us mosey to the Basket ball court in the rear of HS. We do the seven of diamonds Brocode. First rotation we do 7 merkins at each corner, some of the brothers did diamond push ups, and any variety as long as there was 7 reps at each corner. Next we did 14 squats at each corner, then did 21 single ct DQ’s at each corner. We were running out of time, moseyed back to flag.

    COT

    Numberama, Namerama, trout took us out in prayer.

    We discussed the shoe drive for this month and to bring these to any workout and Corned Beef will collet for the DaVille group. A lot of mumble chatter this morning on how we continue to motivate each other to post and feel blessed that we are able to work out and appreciate our peaceful nation with all that is going on in the world.
