  • Coming to the Nuisance

6 Davillians as a group did a triathlon the F3 way. A pair of bikers went about 10 miles, with both YHC and Phonics contributing to correct and wrong turns along the way. Opus and Marco Polo kept the traditional Anvil Run going with just under 5 miles, and Corned Beef and No Idea both posted to ruck so that Yardsale would not have to ruck by himself. Their loyalty must have created enough good karma to ensure that today no one rucked alone, even if Yardsale succumbed to the fartsack. After some 10 minutes of good-natured chatter, we realized we had not done numbers and names, so we took care of that business. Announcements included early planning stages for an upcoming 2nd F event and the assumption that any AOs in the city are now pickleball AOs. There is also a planned The Carpenter Q upcoming at The Creek Friday. Mark your calendars. Also thoughts and prayers for those who move next to a community pool and suffer through pool noises and those whose open windows next to a lake let moisture into a house. Opus then took us out.

After an impromptu discussion of cycling last week when YHC posted elsewhere, a cycling option was added to the run and ruck options for the summer. We can keep cycling, running, and rucking as long as we have the numbers to do them. Summer tourists are welcome, and if you let us know you are coming in advance we can make sure no one runs/rides/rucks alone. This is the way.

  • The Bob Ross Beatdown

Nancy Lopez took us out after Numbers/Names/Announcements/Prayer Requests

Final thoughts: Strong work by all the PAX today! If you havent gotten a chance to get down to some of the deep south workouts, I would highly recommend it. They have a great culture and a welcoming group of guys. Hope to get back soon – will have to check if there any AirBnB openings this summer.

  • Hot Broga

2 vets and 1 newbie set foot on the bball courts of NoToll to improve their flexibility. The temp/humidity offered up a natural environment for Hot Broga. Some people pay $30 for that!

Lots of grunts and groans but we’re better for it and I’m pretty sure we were the best players at Ultimate today.

Get yourself out there next time.

  • No One Stays Dry

Absent a few fart-sackers, five noble warriors assembled in the dew of the morning to a late-night Q volunteer.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • SSH
      • IW
      • DQ
      • Helicopters
      • Arm circles
      • Suzanne Somers

      • LBC
    • Cumulative beast
      • 180 HRM
      • 144 WWII sit-ups
      • 108 side crunches – each side
      • 72 monkey humpers
      • 36 2x crab cakes
      • Last round – 36 burpees as out of time
    • COT with YHC taking us out

Great work from the PAX today.  Great to have Whitesnake back.  Too bad Horneydo and Handshake were not there.  Many of the PAX have been injured at some point in the last 6 months, so grateful hearts that we were able to come together and do some ground and pound.  The ground was moist to say the least, so no one went home dry.

God is good all of the time!

  • Dead Poets Society

Ten British scholars gathered in the bowl behind the commons seeking answers to the questions of the day. With the question of who has the Q out of the way, YHC proclaimed the following routes:

    The Routes

    • Start with the first half of Mount Henrico route to get everyone on University on the west side of Forest
    • 4s take a right on Essex and go up as far as you want before retracing your steps
    • 5s take a left on Arlington Circle, hard left on Sawmill, left on Shelley, right on Keats, right on University and back
    • 6s do the 5s route + take a left on Coleridge while on Sawmill out all the way to Ridge then back

    Announcements

    • See slack for details Bodo’s posted on a memorial fundraiser run on 9/16.

    Moleskin

The soup was a perfect consistency this AM. The second question of the day was whether or not Faceplant actually sweat a drop today. YHC saw him running, so he was out there. Perhaps he has some newfangled polyester blend? Marv will wait for it to go on special before trying it.

The third question (and what turned out to be the question that made everyone disperse) was, what does Anthrax do with all that leftover water that Peeta doesn’t drink?

    Man loves dog
    Dog loves man
    Dog drinks water
    Water refreshes man

    Man drinks dog water

  • Welcome New Two Pickleballers (Week 7)

Welcome New Two Pickleballers (Week 7)

YHC has noticed that days are getting shorter and shorter. YHC greeted seven pickleballers including two new pickleballers. Moseyed to the pickleball court and ran around the court. COP as follows: Deadman hang x 10, helicopter x 10, imperial walkers x 10, SSH x 10. Played double and single.

A couple of things to note:

      • Marv and Florence picked up pickleball really quickly.

      • Offshore put strong spin on his serve and return.

      • YHC and Oyster lost a game (14:16) against Offshore and Mcrib

  • Another Sunday, Another OTB

    Walkers walked, runners ran.

    2nd F at Starbucks.

    Nuff said.

  • Coming soon

Eleven eager PAX came out to see the pre-launch of the new & improved Hornydo. Upchuck confirmed that the humidity in the Gloom made him feel like home at the Clinic. We did:

COP in Bodos lot: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Pickle pounders, Reverse Crunches, Merkins, Scorpion kicks. Mosey to the 3rd back lot. Dora 123 of: 100 Merkins, 200 Donkey Kicks, 300 Jump Squats.

Over to the bonus lot for 4 corners: 10 Burpees, 20 HRMs, 30 WWIIS, 40 SSH. Alternate bear crawl and run in between. Back to school and over to railings for Jerkins. 3 sets of 8. Over to the steambath that was the TES field. Partner up for 3 rounds of 8 pullups & pickle pounders. 3 sets of 25 PLTs then back to flag for 3 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Although the rain last night cooled things off slightly the Gloom was plenty thick. Kind of morning where you can easily sweat out 5 lbs. 1-800 ran to the AO, with his keys. He managed to not lose them while we covered some ground. Good to have Heist and Rosie make the trip north. Although SOJ did not have solid numbers for a supposed takeoever they did send 2 of their strongest to set the pace north of the river. Also great to have Whitesnake back of the IR. You’ve been missed in the Gloom.

Announcements: 3rd F opportunity in the works for Summer Tour participants. Be on the lookout for more details.
