  • Introducing…

F3RVAs newest AO. The Sugar. One posted after numerous EH attempts failed. According to the gentleman with the top hat and bow tie who greeted YHC at 0530, this may or may not have happened.

    The Route
Head south on 3rd, under the overpass (or was it over the underpass?), to continue south on Little Sugar Creek Greenway. Meander around for three miles, briefly passing a few locals doing plank merkins and bear crawls. YHC joined for a few merkins then continued on to Freedom Park. Reverso then BTTVSF.

Number, name, YHC took YHC out with a few passerbys wondering what I was doing.

    Moleskin
This is a recurring running route that YHC has done for the last 10 years or so, every time I visit the Queen City. No meth labs, but I did try to get on the local news as the route took us right by the courthouse where there is apparently a big trial today.

I will not be here every week, but every week I am here anyone and everyone is welcome to join. Heads up to the PAX that a portion of the greenway appears to be under construction from Spring 2022 – Spring 2024. That’s right. Two years. We will have to modify the route for the next few years.

    Satire lives on!

  • Over the River and Through the Woods

Fifteen red riding hoods left the bat cave, crossed the river and headed upstream to Huguenot Flatwater. Everyone picked up the new trail in the woods admiring how civilized and proper this path is compared to the old one.

Upon returning to Riverside, 4s turned right and headed home. 5s and 6s turned left to head downstream a little further. 5s turned around Rockfalls and 6s were supposed to turn around at the quarry. Whether they were lost in conversation, didn’t see the quarry, or pursued by a wolf, we will never know. They got bonus miles in by going to Pony Pasture.

    Florence took us out.

–> Thoughts and prayers for Pucker’s friend who was in an accident.

    –> Memorial Day convergence downtown.

–> June 4 – Give blood or head to the Bridge in C-ville. Both are good causes and causes to do good.

    Announcements:

June 4: We have 2 events

Convergence with Charlottesville and with men who are serving time or on probation. We would like RVA to do this once a month, 3rd Saturday to help lead with Vinny(?) from Charlotteville. It’s 1 hour from Midlo, followed with BBQ. Sorry I’m a little weak on the details but see Flatline for questions or additional details. F3 did something similar in Charlotte with a group of men in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. The group was in-town so travel was real easy. This was rewarding. I went several times and lead exercises. I was always impressed with both the people there and the men from F3 who supported this. It’s a great opportunity to not only get in some exercise but to support men in the community who need a little support.

AND, if that doesn’t work out for you, you have another opportunity! Blood drive from 10 to 3 at Epiphany Lutheran (west end of Monument where it intersects with Horsepen.

We welcome Brian Roundtree who is a friend through church with Spit and finally decided to post today. He was in the army and posted in Ft. Lee, Ft. Lenard Wood and Germany and now works in the banking industry. We tossed around some suggestions and Piggy Bank won the popular vote. Welcome Piggy Bank and we look forward to seeing you in the gloom again soon.

Announcements – We are continuing our combination workouts on Saturday (DaPile) with all of us in DaVille posting at Dogpile on the first Saturday of each month.

We will be having a Hump Day Happy hour on May 5, 2022. Stay tuned for the location.

It was an honor to lead this morning and I will see you in the gloom….Cheers, CB!

  • Pelvic Thrust Demo Team

4 kettlebell wielding studs and a couple of 2.0’s took over the WEAG complex on Sunday evening. Onlookers had to step aside as we rounded the church with manly exercises and a killer soundtrack. Here is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure.

Warm up: Short mosey around the upper parking lot following by Arm Circles, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, Dead Man Hang and arm stretches.

Exercise One: Circuit around the church. At various locations, stop and do 2 minutes of called exercises. The following were completed:
American Hammers, Step ups, Tricep extensions, Bench Press, Squats with lift, Flutter Kicks, Upright Row, WWII’s with lift, Lawnmower pulls, calf raises, Pass Arounds (??), Pole Smokers, Kettle Swings.

Back to the flag for a couple leg stretches.

Final Thoughts: Great job by all of the PAX this evening. OTB kettlebells is a laid back atmosphere with a lot of curious walkers, runners, and spectators around. It was great seeing Tryhard’s 2.0’s show up with their own weights and headbands. Lots of hair metal mumblechatter, amongst other topics. Come on out next week!

  • Heads Ruck, Tails Run

2 Crusty old curmudgeons made their way to River Run for a coin flip on whether to do a Ruck or a Run this AM. A Ruck was determined but with one vest and two HIM a run was had. Terrington with all its rolling hills was the route with an extra run up Twin Team at the end just to get a value add for the cost of doing business. 101 combined years worth of the do’s and don’ts to talk about from life

  • Breaking In to Breaking Bread

    The COP

Mosey to Medical Respite on Belt Blvd, 2 air presses per traffic light.

    The Thang

Pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw, pasta salad, sweet tea and lemonade.

    Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Bars

    Moleskin

YHC arrived to find the the side door slightly ajar, so instead of troubling the staff for help, hauled the goods up to the 2nd floor and surprised the unsuspecting staff. All’s well that ends well, but apparently no one enters the building without being accompanied by staff. Oops, but YHC bets dessert made up for it. Tightly kept secret, when EF Hutton bakes, people listen.

  • How high can a Subaru go?

Runners ran ~6 miles according to second F on patio. While walkers dont worry about distance, just how long the stride is. Some great conversations today. Started and finished with the same conversation………..yup, it actually happened. Bigger question is how high can Aisle 5 take his knobby tire Subaru. In truth, doesn’t matter cause Nancy is going to get a lift for him and install a ladder for him to get in/out. If he were a Vette guy, he would be able to lower on factory bolts (saving Nancy a ton of $$). He should swing by New Market in two Saturdays as Wilson is lowering the C5. Plenty of cuss words and beer will be flowing. Gumbo is lobbying his boy to be a pro golfer based on the average height of golfers he observed at the Masters. More to come………..

Have a great Sunday fellas and it was great to see more coming out as it warms up.

  • Lines on Football field

Gridiron had 9 participants including Polly (FNG last week). Unfortunately, Homer was a little late and missed out on some burpees. You snooze, you lose. I was pleased to note that the football field was lined off.  That way, we knew where midfield was. No guessing!

    Mosey to parking lot

20 Heels to Heaven, 20 Rosalitas (all in cadence) 6-inch leg left to count of 60

It’s always great to be out here. I had to miss coffee after the workout but I needed to help out with our grandson. His parents are out of town this weekend at a wedding and so we’re keeping their 10-month old. It’s a lot of work. Frankly, I don’t how we did it with our two or how they do it. He’s asleep now so I have time to write up the backblast.
