    NMS:

Texted with Snuff just to make sure he was okay and all is well with some life happens things that made him fart sack this morning. Please keep him and his family in your prayers as he goes through a work transition and other things that make life difficult. Sorry,

  • March Gladness

An elite eight made their way out of the fartsack to gather for 45 minutes of beatdown. According to the running man circling us like a bat out of hell, here’s what transpired:

COP: Deadman hang // Helicopters // DQs // Imperial Walkers // Ukrainian Soldiers // ADPs // LBCs // Merkins // Elbow Plank // Pickle Pounders

7 of Diamonds: On the blacktop, run from corner to corner, performa exercises in increments of 7. 7 Jump squats // Next round: 14 Merkins each corner // 21 LBCs // 28 squats // 21 2-count flutter kicks // 14 carolina dry-docks // 7 Burpees.

Knockout! : We played 3 rousing rounds of knockout at the basketball court. SSH while waiting in line, American Hammers and WW2s when you get knocked out. Honeydo won 1 game, Upchuck won 2!

Final COP: Crunchy frogs, 5 Burpees OYO

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

NMS: Being the last day of March, and having not enjoyed basketball in the darkness thus far this month, YHC thought it was fitting to end the month with a game of knockout. It was shocking how many of the guys had never played this game! Super fun time and thanks guys for giving it a go.

In this season of Lent, let’s all be brave enough to face up to the darkest places in our own souls, and ask God and other people for help.

  • Cadence-Garage-Little Burpee Excursion

A decent day for a nice morning run with a mixed upper body exercise.  We ran around the pond area and started to warm up with my awesome bad cadence routine, at least 30 dips. Then we ran to the garage and add 1 burpee on every turn up to the top (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 burpees). Then ran down with 10 LBCs every turn.  2nd round with 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 burpees.  Ran down with 10 sumo-squats every turn.  The 3rd round with 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18 merkins.  Wow, we have 5 minutes left.  Pinto showed us the shortcut back to the Parking lot.  What an awesome workout with great fellows who did not complain anything about my burpees.  Yippy!

    Florence took us out.

Final Thoughts: Great effort by all the PAX today! It has been awhile since I ventured down that path in the lower parking lot. Any homeless individuals or early morning walkers surely scattered when they saw our army of headlamps approaching. Solid work by the runners completing 5 plus.

    Appreciate the opportunity to lead.

  • GRE or GED?

7 of RVA’s finest made their way to this 70 and sunny day at WDog. It’s been a little since YHC has posted here during the week with temporarily living in Midlo. Just to make sure they don’t miss me too much, a beatdown was called. This is what may have happened…

    Announcements

Bone Thugs is planning a run on 4/15 at RAMM so be on the lookout for a Pre-Blast with more info!

    NMS:

It was good to be at Wdog again and catch up with the guys I began with at F3. A lot of great mumble chatter as always with this crew between the difference of a GED and GRE and Hitchhiker transitioning from glamping to camping with the family, so wish him luck! Good luck to Bodos speaking at St. Michaels Catholic Church during their Lent series today. We got a little preview from Bodos on some potential jokes that will for sure warm up the crowd! Thank you for letting me lead today! Make it a great day!

  • BYOB (Bring Your Own Block)

Eleven early risers picked up the mantle and posted for today’s edition of First Watch. Conditions were 70 and sunny. According to HoneyDo’s M (who posted to HER workout), the following likely happened:

Mosey around the parking lot. 1 Loop. Circle up on South Westham.

    The COP, j-walking style:

    6 Burpees
    17 SSHs
    23 LBCs
    6 Don Quixotes
17 Merkins (Kudos to Handshake for the guest cadence)
    23 APDs
    6 Imperial Walkers
    17 Dead Man Hang
    23 flutter kicks

Mosey to pick up the blocks. Circle the parking lot, and meet up on the side of River Road.

    Pick a partner.

Partner 1: Run to front of Church with the block. Return. On either crossing of the road, stop and do 3 block merkins.

Partner 2: Rotate between 10 reps of Squat Thrusters and 10 curls. Begin griping about the blocks.

Carry the block to the main church parking lot, stopping for 1 block burpee at each speed bump.

    Pick a different partner.

The two partners coordinate (gasp!). 3 laps each.

Partner 1: One lap without any block, one lap with only one block, and one lap with two blocks.

Partner 2: Rotation of 6 burpees, 17 heels to Heaven, 23 flutter kicks.

Mosey to the side of the Church for block WWIIs (in the designated WWII area).

Slow mosey to put the blocks away and BTTVSF.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

Gomer is looking for a Q for a HDHH next week. No Q would mean no HDHH.

Bodo’s is apparently giving a public address today on the topic “Sin: good or bad?” Tune in to find out where Bodo’s stands.

Monday evening should mean Punisher Happy Hour. Usually, Bingo Bar. YHC doesn’t know if this is happening.

NMS: Splinter’s cat apparently was feeling achy today, so YHC jumped onto the Q Sheet for National “I’m in Control Day.” YHC knows that the PAX loves them some block work. And, since it is also Manatee Appreciation Day, what better represents a Manatee (terrible FNG name) than a concrete block?

Programming Notes for Future Q’s: Squat thrusters are awful. Block burpees are not much better. And, Gomer has apparently completed the Russian Army’s Concrete Block Logistics Training Course. Sir Charles Foxtrot joined the PAX briefly.

Hats off to Handshake for recognizing that today was about recklessly violating traffic laws.

    Hi to Erin, who posted.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • Valley Forge – Blast Furnace

Had fun getting to know Spike and the rest of the PAX. YHC ran a little more than allowed on a bad wheel but we are recovering.

  • A little warm up in January – FOB Mission Trip

2 mighty PAX passed their covid tests and boarded a 6:10 flight to head to Honduras for a little warm up for the body and the soul.

There is something about helping others that are in need, often the one that is helped the most is yourself.

YHC has been trekking to Honduras for 6 years and has led 4 trips. The greatest joy is to bring new folks and this year we were lucky enough to be joined by Pigskin who is a natural for trips like this. Certainly he will echo that FOB is a well run organization and that the trip had a great balance of helping others, camaraderie, and growth of the soul.

FOB teams travel to remote villages and we provide medical, dental, vision, and vitamins for young and old with an emphasis on helping children and building stronger healthier communities.

The best part of this trip was getting to work with Pigskin throughout the week. We mostly worked together in dental. The experience of seeing teeth pulled makes one never want sugar again – at least not without a good toothbrushing after.

We talked about some 1st F, but frankly YHC did not adapt to the heat very well this time, feeling dehydrated all week. It wasnt even that hot: 65F – 83F. Luckily we only had one day of rain at the end.

Let us know if you want to know more about it or join an upcoming team. FOB runs 12 trips a year and they are always looking to round out a team with 1-2 more.

FOB has a virtual benefit April 29. Let Gomer know if you want more details or if you can sponsor or donate an auction item.

  • The bagpipes of St Patrick’s Day

PAX at 2d F included Honeydo, Faceplant, Flatline, Lab Rat, and Ronnie. Alas they missed Currahee but the out of towners did get free beer – all as promised.

NMS – Fun was had by all and different libations were on order after the first $8.50 Guinness. A pint of beer should be cheaper than a gallon of petrol.

Some PAX started a bit early to catch the first games of the NCAAB round of 64 Including the SpidURS who beat down Iowa. Go SpidURs!

We also made a friend from Minneapolis who was quite interested in UNC shellac-ing Marquette, but less so in F3. We wish him luck.

Imagine our glee when the Benedictine and Clan McLeod drum and fife bands showed up to St Patrick’s day. They played loud and great…. however… YHC’s new firm has software development offices in Belfast and while there are bagpipes in Ireland, at St Paddy’s Day is rather rare.

    CAH bagpipes

    Gitty up!
