NMS:  We’ll start with a praise report. After working with a great PT, and with wearing an ankle brace, YHC ran the 2.5 mile Morning Wood pre-run without the IT Band pain that’s been keeping YHC from long distance running for the last 15+ years! Lord willing, running groups and BRR can be in my future. Was great to have such a solid group at R&R this morning. Bone Thugs’ arrival was a surprise since he’d planned on Dogpile, but his presence was as fine and humorous as always. The PAX was about to kick-off at 0700 and we were passed by a geriatric group of walkers heckling us to try and keep up – hilarious – YHC thought about calling monkey humpers after we passed them, but thought better of it. With no specific plan in place apart from “trying hard”, a fairly challenging routine followed, and the mumble chatter was fairly limited. Doing 3 sets of dying boxing cockroaches reminded YHC we should implement these more often. On the BLIMPS circuit the PAX was passed twice by a group of ladies, and the PAX planked in neat formation along the side of the trail to perform excellent merkins IC, by which the ladies were duly impressed. Overall a very successful morning, and YHC was reminded of a quote which I’ve shared below. May we all be mindful of the power we give away to lesser things. For HIM, DTH

We gain the strength of the temptation we resist.” R.W.Emerson

  • It’s Madness

11 blue-chippers had it all on day two of March Madness at Satan’s Hill . There was fog, a full-moon, busted brackets, and VQ by Dracula. The moon thing was not planned and there were some basketball treats. Good job spiders and adios wildcats! Now for the show…

  • All aboard the Soul Train

7 regulars, an FNG, and four legged friend joined for some cool-ish weather at Currahee. We had runners and walkers alike. Runners went Pump to John Rolfe to Gaskins to Gayton to Raintree to Falconbridge to Pump and back to the school. 4.6 miles. Walkers went on their own route.

Announcements/Prayer Request – Roger Roger and his family. Lighthouse and his family and the country of Ukraine. Two Can. Husky (Kubota’s 2.0) has surgery on his arm today.

NMS – Today was great. We had an extremely motivating FNG, Soul Train. Soul Train lives near Huguenot Park and he saw the men of No Toll on Tuesday and wasn’t sure who they were or what he was seeing so he put a message out on Facebook or Nextdoor and discovered it was F3. He searched the web and found F3 and F3RVA and has been reading backblasts and seeing the schedule. He decided to try Currahee since he had seen there were walkers and he felt it was the best opportunity for his first post. I can’t say enough good things about him coming. He didn’t know anyone and he didn’t know exactly what to expect but he woke up really early and drove across town without any expectations. Good for you Soul Train. We are better people to have you in the group. Its a testament to the rest of us that the community sees us, and the community is paying attention.

  • Reminiscence

A gaggle of runners and a resurgence of bikers convened at RAMM for some running and cycling. No one had signed up so YHC quickly plotted a simple route. Only 3 turns, yet Hitchhiker somehow asked more questions than there were turns. Classic Fan route today.

    The Route

    • East on Grove
    • 4s left on Boulevard
    • 5s left on Shields
    • 6s left on Plum
    • Left on Monument
    • Left on Westmoreland

Numbers, names, swarming by cyclists before YHC took us out.

    Moleskin

Today, post run/cycle, we reminisced with stories of a former PAX member. While not a regular and not recent, he always had a way of bringing some excitement to the group. Prayers for all of our PAX that are going through difficulty, current or former, that they find the necessary peace to carry them forward.

Prayers also go out to TYA, Shakedown, and the rest of the crew heading to the Grand Canyon for their race next week. Go get it!

My thanks for the day go to Faceplant and Marv for the thought provoking social discussion this morning.

Spiders (and Rams) still playing! Cheer for your local teams!

    Splinter out.
