  • Misdirection

Three posted for the relocated short workout / social at Bingo Beer. Two of us made it for the short workout. The third posted to the usual AO because of poor follow through by the Q, but made it to Bingo for the social.

  • Your morning jacket

Five posted for the Punisher before last. Burpees with Broad Jumps to start across the width of the school. Pentagon up nearby with some of our favorite starter exercises. Move to the school for a short mini-Murph with 10 x Plank Rows, 20 x Merkins, and 30 x Squats followed by a short lap around the big trees in front of LHES. Five rounds.

Relocate to the bus loop for Elevens with Curb Dips and Mountain Climbers. Line up and Lunge Walk in a northerly direction, taking turns counting steps and with Merkins in between. Finish with Conveyor Belt Mary on sidewalk squares, alternating LBCs, Box Cutters, and Reverse Crunches along the sidewalk from the east side of the school to the south side of the school near the parking lot. Mosey for COT. (correct me where wrong)

    MOLESKIN

Couldn’t make out a word of what he said, but Handshake seemed to enjoy his conversation throughout the entirety of the COP.  YHC did hear UpChuck call him fat during the Jack Webbs.  A lesser man might get his feelings hurt.  Handshake did compliment YHC by saying he will be sore today.  Already setting in here.  Abdominals are confused by the volume of activity.  Way to start the week.  Title of the backblast has nothing to do with the workout, but it sure is gratifying to see that as the headline.  Go Hokies!

  • Ride the Lightning

This was a wet one folks.  Only 6 Die Hards made it out to Dog Pile today.  Through moderate rain, some driving rain, and a few lightning strikes – this is what went down:

    COP:
arm circles, cherry pickers, DQs, SSHs, mt climbers, WWIIs, and Merkins.

    The Thang:

    Valley of Swampy Despair (11s):
At the top we did 10 burpees, then tried not to bust our butts sliding down the hill, ran into the swamp at the bottom, and then to other summit for one 2-count American Hammers, then 9 Burpees and 2 AHs, and so on.  In the midst of this exercise is when the workout got its name, which is taken from Metallica’s album Ride the Lightning, because we almost did.  After thunder roared just overhead, Handshake said, “If you’re trying to make a point, you’ve made it”.  His point was taken, so we moved to the sanctuary of the stage to modify this one and finish it out.

Triple Check on the stage.  P1 Bear Crawls the width of the stage and is the timer.  P2 Ball Dips.  P3 SSHs.

After the lightning moved on (the rain never did), we left the relative safety of the amphitheater and ventured out.  We did a Dora and Partnered up.  P2 got a coupon.  P1 touched 2 trees while P2 did 100 coupon curls, then 100 squat thrusts, 100 kettle bell swings, and 100 bench presses (for this one, we were back on stage, the Penny Stage, for a little less laying in the mud).

    Walk Like an Egyptian –
This was like a Native American run, but with lunges while the last man jailbreaked to the front, done along the length of the Carillon.

Getting back to the other side of the Carillon, same idea, but we crab walked, hopped and bear crawled.

    SSHs Plus –
We circled up and did SSHs (OYO).  Members of the Pax were called on to initiate a core exercise.  15 were done.  Then return to SSHs.  And so on.

    BTTF.

    COT:
Numbers, names, announcements, prayer requests and prayer.  We prayed for Lighthouse and the safety of his family in Kiev, Ukraine as well as a couple other gentlemen in F3 going through family problems.

Moleskin: Thank you to the men that braved the weather to share in fitness, fellowship and faith today.  It is appreciated.

    SYITG!

  • Someone Call Security

One PAX did it again and made The Clinic happen. Temps remained 70 and sunny. According to the security guard stalling the PAX member, this might have happened:

5 miles. Out and back to Broward Blvd.

    NMS: mumbled to myself. Really.

  • A “Special” PAX

Today was not a day for the casual and occasional PAX member.  Rain and dropping temps meant only a special kind of craziness would embrace the Gridiron gloom.  Here is how it went down for 5 noble warriors:

    • COP
      • SSH
      • Ukrainian soldiers
      • DQ
      • Helicopters
      • Arm circles
      • Suzanne Somers
      • Merkins
      • LBC
      • APD
    • Deck of destiny under the cover of the bus loop without the deck
    • Mosey back to the Pavilions for 25 step ups each leg
    • COT with YHC taking us out
    • Starbucks for some 2nd F

When Johnsonville rolled in at 6:55, we put wagers on who might be off-center enough to post on a miserable day.  Well, no surprise, Chum Bucket and Pigskin rolled in.  Gomer Pyle was a welcomed edition.  Great work by the PAX, and YHC was thoroughly educated by Gomer Pyle at 2nd F.  His military wisdom served for a great listen.  Thanks to the PAX members that braved the elements.  It was a fun one.

God is good all of the time!

  • It Was Gnarly Out There

2 Southsiders ignored the lightning, mud, and torrential downpours; and took a trip back to the 1980’s. Kip Winger and other musical luminaries provided the background sound. Here is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

Mosey to the Dog Park shelter for Warm up: Don Quixotes, Arm Circles, Helicopters, Dead Man Hang, Freddy Mercuries, Hand Release Merkins.

Exercise One: 1980’s Trivia challenge. Had to modify slightly due to having one participant. If Florence got the answer correct: he called the exercise (either 80 seconds or 80 reps). If Florence is wrong, host calls the exercise. Hurdle the mud pit, run to the fence and back.

Completed the following: Lt. Dans, Squats, Calf Raises, Merkins, HR Merkins, Hold Plank, Lunges, Dips, LBC’s, Flutter Kicks, WWII’s, Mountain Climbers, Alabama Prom Dates…………might have missed a few.

Mosey to the parking lot for Man Harmers:
10 side straddle hops, forward straddle hop across parking lot, 20 SSH’s………worked our way up to 80.

Mosey back to the Flag for Numbers/Names/Announcements.

YCH took us out. 2nd F at Starbucks

Final Thoughts: Having been born in 1990, Florence did a damn fine job during the trivia challenge. He got several right, and was at least familiar with all the various shows/movies/music. This particular workout seems to be a bit snakebitten as YHC caught COVID prior to the initial date, and we were welcomed with some insane weather this morning. May try to reboot over the summer – there was also talk of a 1990’s trivia challenge. Really enjoyed chatting with Florence during and after the workout.

  • Extra Extra

F3 do what F3 do. Brothers of the gloom are always a little extra, today 2 were extra extra.
