  • Barbara Can’t Be 61

2 delivered for 8 at this evening’s version of Breaking Bread. Temperatures remained steady at 70 and conditions after dark remained sunny. According to Veers, YHC’s 15-year old, the following might have happened:

Dinner of warm ham, buttered green beans, homemade mashed potatoes, King’s Hawaiian rolls, chocolate chip cookies, and some tea / lemonade. YHC and Veers were even allowed inside briefly to drop the food. Several appreciative guests thanked us.

NMS: Barbara thanked us for the successful weekend meals (last night via Pucker as well as this evening). She remains exceptionally appreciative of this group. She mentioned that the charity of this group adds a bit of joy to the guests at the holidays. Well said.

  • Walter’s Prostate

Eight on two feet and three on four-feet launched at 7 with temps sunny and 70. According to the fur-lined lady, the following may have happened:

Route: 3 plus Sally and PETA took on Buttermilk to North Bank, while 4 walked Buttermilk to Reedy Creek, back on the gravel path with Walter.

Note: Offshore is concerned about Pigskin. YHC apologies. Pigskin ran out and back – YHC believes his normal 20-20 out and back loop.

    Announcements: Walter’s prostate is clear.

NMS: Plans well underway for a next set of ultra tests in the spring. Nice to see Ollivander again.

YHC has been rehabbing a couple of nicks. Nice to get out there for a solid hike and to bring along Walter for his first F3 post. With a solid 3 miles today, Walter was appreciative of the journey and the fellowship.

Good chatter at ETs. Quality of food remains a COVID-casualty.

  • Cold As Ice

With it being about 25 degrees outside I was driving up and I guess they were playing a doubleshot of Foreigner on 96.5. The song that came on was “Cold As Ice” by Foreigner.

We were happy to have a FNG from Jersey and Ukraine join us. He came in a fancy Porsche (not to be confused with no frills Porsches) so we named him Yugo. I guess if you can afford New Jersey property taxes you can afford a nice car. Welcome Yugo!

The exercises went something like this:

COP: Lap around parking, lot, DQs, CPs, Freddie Mercuries, Arm circles

Mosey to field, run around field go to bus loop.

Pole 1 – 1 burpee, pole 3 – 2 Lt. Dans, pole 5 – 2 burpees, pole 7 – 3 Lt. Dans, etc. until we hit 10 burpees. Run around school to front of school.

Quadruple check with all exercises done 3 times: Balls to the wall, dips, flutter kicks and run around loop. Mosey to nearby parking lot.

Four corners with 10 HRMs, 20 WWIIs, 30 2 count mountain climbers and 40 jump squats

Mosey to home base. 2 sets of pass the coupon while wall sitting, one shoulder press for each of the three coupons that came by.

Another quadruple check: Donkey kicks, coupon press, heels to heaven and run around parking lot.

Finish with American hammer and long LBC set.

Announcements: We think the first Friday is a rucking happy hour deal. We will need to look for a backblast to confirm/deny. Punisher is doing a workout happy hour the first Monday of December. Lastly Lighthouse has Q next Saturday. Come out and support LH.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Take some time to help someone in need this holiday season.

    Thanks and blessings.

    Fireman Ed

  • Mountains, Pyramids and Gratitude

COP: Arm Circles, Cherry Pickers, DQs, SSHs, Mt. Climbers, WWIIs & Merkins.

    The Thang:
Burpee Back Mountain – I wanted to pay homage to DTH with this one. Without his push, I would have never stepped up to Q. I’m grateful for that push to step outside of my comfort zone. And the time he did Burpee Back Mountain, after I laughed at the name, I thought it sounded impossible (another push for growth). It’s a Dora of 100 Burpees. P1 does those while P2 runs up and down the amphitheater.

To get out of the amphitheater, at each level, we did 3 dips, box jumped to the next level and 3 LBCs. Somewhere in there Handshake taught us that where a Turkey is cooked determines if a man or a woman made it (grill vs. oven).

    Coupon Pyramids –
We formed 3 teams. Each team needed to assemble a 10 coupon pyramid in 3 places: in the base of the Valley of Ill Repute, at the Rusty Cage, and at the Penny Stage. Oyster showed us how to adroitly carry two coupons at once. In the midst of this exercise, Winehouse, out of nowhere, slid (tripped) across the ground in the Superman position, making a grand entrance after being gone for about a year. Welcome back Winehouse!

4X4 Run – We partnered up. P1 ran around The triangle. Meanwhile, P2 did 4X4s (4 single count lunges followed by 4 Merkins). Switch duties. Rinse and repeat 3 times.

    BTTF
COT: numbers, names, announcements (Hitch expressed his gratitude for F3), prayer requests, prayer.

Moleskin: It’s always a blessing to be well enough (we missed you Up Chuck, heal up fast) to get outside, run around a bit, watch the sun come up, connect with buddies and pray. Let’s all work to focus on all that we have, even beyond this holiday week. We are so fortunate.

  • Doozy travels the globe

YHC and family made the usual Thanksgiving trip back to Fort Mill, SC just past Charlotte on the map. 3 Beatdowns in 4 days and this is a brief run down on what happened.

Thursday morning (30 degrees) in Fort Mill, SC starting at 6:30 – 70 would be warriors made their way out of the Gloom to be lead by Hardwood (friend of YHCs) and YHC will be bringing some good material home.

Friday morning in Waxhaw, NC starting at 6:30 – 19 Grizzly veterans mosey out into the (42 Degree) almost tropical temperatures following Mad Dogs lead

Saturday morning in Charlotte, NC (Metro one of the AO’s where it all began – Indy) 5 HIM’s lead by C-Span possibly the best (worst) beatdown I have ever been a part of. It was in a parking deck with a spiral drive on one side (run up 6 flights, 12 floors) this made Twin Team look like child’s play. 10 Merkins at the top run across the top floor to the stairs 10 LBC’s, run down steps to start 10 Flying Squirrels ( AKA Groiners) then back up the Dizzy. Repeto as many times as possible. YHC was able to get 5 cycles in 2nd to Cooler who is in his 30’s and has more legs than body. Cooler would be Charlottes version of Fresh Prince.

    NMS:

YHC loves traveling and hitting AO’s that make you a part of their PAX. F3 is a brotherhood and YHC for one is very thankful for all my brothers across this country.

Pics are from Friday and Saturday, YHC is trying to get pics from convergence Thursday

  • 2 for Breakfast

    THANG

YHC was able to rise early for this TG Holiday Saturday pre-run for the Mr. Rogers upcoming beatdown. With some earlier recon this week, Early Bird Biscuit was closed so we launched from ET’s. Handshake was posted in the parking lot and we launched down Cary Street through Carytown. We take a right on S. Robinson Street and ran south of Boat Lake to Shirley Lane into the AO for Dogpile. For the trip back, we run on S. Sheppard Street and a left on Cary Street to ET’s Parking lot.

    COT

Numberama and Namerama Handshake took us out in prayer this morning.

Great to run and catch up with Handshake. Thank you to Gomer Pyle for the motivation on the trip back to ET’s. We will see you in the gloom, Cheers from CB!

  • OYO

This being Thanksgiving Day, we met at 7:00 instead of 5:30. We were Attila-less but we had the faculty of VCU (Homer, Offshore and Lighthouse), 2 white animals (White Deer and White Snake), a fireman in case things got out of hand (Fireman Ed) and yo.

After listening to White Deer give Homer a bunch of shit, we did warmup with SSHs, IWs, Russian Soldiers and Don Quixotes.

Next, we did the following: with 3 Burpees between each KB exercise.

    20 Swings,

    20 Curls

    15 Sit and Press

    20 Triceps

    20 Rows

    20 Press

    20 Squats

    Short run around the courtyard

    15 each arm Renegade Rows

    15 each leg lunges

10 each arm one arm presses

    10 each direction Halos

    15 each arm Snatches

    Run around the island.

Next, the following except we did 5 WWII situps between the KB exercises.

    20 Curls

    15 Sit and Press

    20 Triceps

    20 Rows

    Run around the island

Back to the start carrying KB overhead.

We kept it to 45 minutes. Afterwards, we met at Starbucks. When we gave names to pick up the coffee, no one knew who ‘Sean’ was (shouldn’t you tell them your name is ‘Ed’?) Happy Turkey Day!

  • Turkey Fog

3 PAX rose up early for a bro-code 5.7 mile trot that meandered through the West End neighborhoods. We stayed together and dug deep while working off that chocolate, pumpkin, and apple pie we indulged in. It was a beautiful morning for a run. Orien was out and the stars were bright! As we went down Pump rd into Waterford and around the lake back to the flag via pump rd. Have a blessed weekend everyone! Thanks for letting me host!

  • The hard way

8 guys took some time this morning for a 5k the hard way. Fun times had by all! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

  • It’s cold!

We had 4 times the number of people that we had last week! Roger Roger flew in. White Snake decided to drive in instead of run in. And Homer was enticed by the opportunity to do Burpees, even though it was about 25 degrees.

We went east on Three Chopt Road, around the Goose Poop Loop to the entrance, (15 Dips in cadence, 10 derkins in cadence and 5 Burpees OYO) then North on Fish Pond Lane, left on Old Brick Road to the parking deck next to Burger Bach. We ran the stairs or ramps 4 or maybe 5 times with a stop at the top for 20 merkins and a stop at the bottom for 5 Burpees. We then returned the way we came except we completed a circumnavigation of the Goose Poop Loop. Total distance was about 4 miles.

Homer won the award for best dressed: fluorescent yellow pants and top with matching black vest. He celebrated by going home and running 8 miles on a treadmill. Glad I didn’t win.

Circus Maximus tomorrow at 7:00 instead of 5:30.
