  • A Corny Day

Five Punisher regulars bathed in cooler weathers and a full moon to finish the last workout of the first day of the week.

Off to the field for COP under the mighty oak. The trees know that it is officially Fall and the acorns are aplenty. Sliding on acorns, tossing acorns and all around revelry involving acorns. Exercises included Helicopters, Don Quixote, Dead Man Hang, Russian Soldiers, and Imperial Walkers.

Over to the front of the school for a derivative of the Red Barchetta, which YHC will call AbSplosion.

    • 10% of the way down the field for 10 HRM and back to the wall for 20 Donkey Kicks
    • 10% of the way down the field for 10 HRM, 25% for 25 V-Ups, and back to the wall for 20 Donkey Kicks
    • 10% of the way down the field for 10 HRM, 25% for 25 V-Ups, 50% for 50 flutter kicks, and back to the wall for 20 Donkey Kicks
    • 10% of the way down the field for 10 HRM, 25% for 25 V-Ups, 50% for 50 flutter kicks, 75% for 75 LBCs, and back to the wall for 20 Donkey Kicks
    • 10% of the way down the field for 10 HRM, 25% for 25 V-Ups, 50% for 50 flutter kicks, 75% for 75 LBCs, 100% for 100 American Hammers, and back to the wall for 20 Donkey Kicks

    Yeah, that sucked.

Over to the wall and line up for the People Chair. First round – 2 feet on the ground while each member of the pax takes turns performing 10 wall jumps. Second round – left foot on the ground with left foot wall jumps. Third round – right foot on the ground with right foot wall jumps. Finish it off with 10 chicken peckers.

Off to the side of the school for triple check. Bear Crawl to the fence for 10 sling squats and bear crawl back. Other partners were BTTW and elbow planks.

A quick round of Lindsays at the picnic tables with dips and box cutters.

Chum Bucket walked us through some Yoga to make everything all right with the world.

    YHC took us out.

  • Where you at New Market?

It was a cool 72 degrees on Satan’s Hill which brought out some PAX cold weather gear. YHC posed the question If you wear it now what are you going to do when it gets cold? A PAX of 8 was ready to take on the hill. At first YHC was the lone NM representative. Parker came rolling in as we started COP.

COP 20 each: SSH’s, LBC’s, 10 each: DQ, Imperial walkers, Hillbillies, Jazzercise, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutters, Dollies.

    The Thang: Grab a coupon.

Round 1: 11’s with coupon combo curl/press at bottom of lot and incline merkins on top.

Mini Dora: 50 Curls, 100 Jerkins, 150 squats. Runner up hill to fire hydrant

    100 Chest press with coupon.

    Mini Dora 2 50, 100, 150.

Lunge the lot to the flag. Finish with some stretching.

Prayers to Parker and M and family. Thankful McGruff’s Dad has recovered well from his fall.

Freed to Bleed is this Wednesday. A few slots left at last check.

Thankful for the Roundtrey clown car, Rosco and the Satan’s Hill regulars who have made this AO a must for my weekly rotation. Cheers!

  • Variety show

9 studs gathered this morning for what felt like the official start of fall at Hoedown. Here’s what went down.

Mosey a few steps to the side of the main lot to kick off: 15 x SSH, DMH, 10 x DQ then jog to West Drive Circle to kick off with a Dora. 100 x merkins, 200 x jump squats, 300 x LBC’s and the timer runs a loop. Wrap up and head back towards Tuckahoe Elementary School.

Pit stop on the no pets hill for 30 x decline WWII’s and some plank. Faceplant may or may not have stepped in a treat during this evolution.

Mosey to the slick paved gaga lot. Bear crawl 1/2 way while simultaneously organizing into ascending birthday order as a group. Lunge the rest of the way to the other side.

We found a grassy knoll near deep in the Tuckahoe complex and out came the music. Nobody’s favorite song, “Flower” by Moby, was queued and we brought Sally up and down for 3 minutes and 24 seconds (alternating plank & 6″). I think Bodos mentioned he was adding Flower to his playlist.

Next was some time on the wall: peoples chair, pass the coupon with donkey kicks (5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 10x) in between reps.

On to arrows in the main lot, 5x WWII with alternating bear crawl and lunge between each arrow. Hoedown regulars may still feel some disorientation from the mid-circuit starting point.

Music box came back out and Sting led us in 26 Roxanne burpees interspersed with some SSH. Head to the field for 2×20 PLT to wrap up the morning.

Numberama, Namerama, Announcements (Handshake noted a new field hockey group for M’s – check in with Handshake for details, Free to Bleed – close to full, see backblasts for details, Breaking Bread – one more slot open for 2021, Christmas night, looking for volunteers) and YHC took us out.

Thanks for hanging with a meandering and non traditional Q this morning! Until next time ~GP

COT : Doozy and YHC continue to have deep conversations in COT to sharpen one another. You gotta be there to join in the discussions.

NMMS : YHC had a different Q on paper but called some audibles after making the dumb mistake of 25 Merkins IC followed by 3 sets of 5 pull ups

  • No Q….No problem

YHC arrived to see two PAX members ready and eleven more followed. The shovel flag was placed and the mumblechatter lead to no official Q so a hot potato was announced and you know the drill. YHC took lead at 0600….mosey to ampitheater.

COT-some exercises and of course, YHC goofed one exercise. YHC quickly called 11’s. Up the ampitheater and down, alternating from dips and merkins. Q given to Helix.

Helix called a ring of fire with V ups and holding 6 inches while waiting your turn. Q handed to GP

GP took us to rust cage, using our nightvision goggles, and called for 20 pullups, 20 dips, and 20 jerkins. GP decided to find some light so off we went to the Penny Stage. 5 exercises with 20 reps=100….GP’s favorite number! Q handed to Wilson.

Wilson took us back to ampitheater stage for a triple check. One ran around top of ampitheater, one sat in the invisible chair, and third PAX member balls to the wall. Q handed to Bone Thugs.

Bone Thugs wanted to work on our core. Two lines and PAX alternated bear crawls down the line in concrete-both feet and both hands on the line….each PAX member attempting to walk the line, twice! Q handed to Corned Beef.

Corned Beef took us back to the flag where we stretched and yoga’d for the last 5 minutes.

    Number-ama, Name-r-ama, Announcements:

Loud and Proud and Thankful for you brothers!!

  • Tabata Friday

5 guys met on a beautiful Friday morning. We started off some some parking lot tracers followed by a jog around the bus loop, facing the same direction the entire time (forward, karaoke, backwards, karaoke). That was it for the warmup. and time to start the Tabata. We lined up on the sidewalk in front of the school. Exercise 20 seconds, 10 seconds off. We did 9 exercises with 8 sets each. Exercises were as follows: Merkins, Hold 6 Inches, Calf Raises, Balls To The Wall, Heals to Heaven, Helix Squats, Plank with Shoulder Touches, Freddie Mercuries and finally, lunges back to the parking lot area. Numbers / names / YHC took us out

    NMS:

YHC got a text from Last Call at the wee hours of the morning “not going to make it” so YHC was counting on the possibility of seeing Bullseye or Chaplain this morning. YHC had a great surprise waiting for him in the parking lot with Gumbo already there and Rosie not far behind. YHC really had no plan for the beatdown but knew with these two studs even in recovery mode we could get some things done.
