  • Reindeer Games

4 warriors, 3 of whom are related, braved the rain for a labor day workout. Hermes and yhc shared the Q. Hermes started with warmup of the usual ash, murcans, DQ, helicopters, cherry pickers etc. To the top for 4 corners, descending 50 squats, 40 monkey humpers, 30 ssh, 20 murcans,

Q switch to YHC, down the hill to the rick pike for military press, curls for the girls, skullcrushers, squats, run to the bottom and back rinse and repeat with a bear crawl thrown in, plus mountain climbers, murcans, lbcs, flutter kicks, fire hydrants and mahktar jai. No specific numbers just work each to exhaustion and switch to the next. Some of the Pax was ready to rebel but they stuck it out.

numberama, namearma, prayer and finish. Welcome to Yukon Cornelius ‘ younger brother Blitzen. The boys held up in spite of YHC’s efforts.

  • Over the River (Twice) and Through the Woods…

Some posted at 6:30 and ran 10, some posted at 7:00 and ran 7ish +/- Some ran on two legs, some ran on four. Some ran in silence, some ran with YHC. All were better off for having done it.

    Make it a great week!

  • Hide and Seek

2 arrived early and 1 warm up and appeared at exactly 05:30, only to have trouble finding the PAX. Temps were 70 and sunny. The PAX were hiding. It was childish. It was kinda fun. YHC apologizes.

1.5 out. 1.2 back. Short and sweet prior to the BRR.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

  • Prodigal Son

Fourteen performers joined today’s orchestral act for the latest edition of The Dogpile. Temperatures were (actually) 70 and sunny. According to the rogue film crew preparing for the actual orchestra, the following may be somewhat close to what happened:

    Quick Start: a Gentlemen’s 5 burpees

Mosey to the Amphitheater’s side entrance and to the orchestra area for the COP:

    SSHs
    Dead Man Hang
    IWs
    Flutter kicks x 17
Box cutters x14 (yeah, 17-14 Hokies)
    HRMs x10

Quick mosey to bottom step (for those not already on the bottom step) for an escalating ascension up the Amphitheater: dips, 1-18

    At the top, quick stretch.

Round and Round: Pick a trash can. There are 20. Do 5 WWIIs at any orange trash can. 5 burpees at any other color trash can (YHC asked for suggestions, then pick his own exercise). Then, run around the loop. Go to the next trash can. Repeato. Continue through all 20 trash cans.

(Some PAX griped about 20 rounds. Each round is about 50 yards, or half of the Great Lawn. A beast is 6 x 4 = 24 fifty yard stretches. This is shorter. YHC apologizes for cheating the PAX out of 200 yards of running.).

Stretch, including some for the cameras. Deals for NIL were signed by some PAX.

Mosey to the side of the Amphitheater for a Dora. Each man does 50 HRMs, and then combines to do 200 American Hammers and 300 SSHs. Bear crawl up the hill to the stone wall. Avoid the van doing…well, nothing, eventually.

Mosey to the stage for a Triple Check, Touch-a-Tree Style. Touch 1 tree for the first person, 2 for the second person, 3 for the third, 4 for round 2, man 1, etc…up to 9 trees. Dieing cockroaches and hello dolly (YHC thinks).

Mosey to the bottom of the Amphitheater again…18 V-ups, then 17, then mosey BTTVSF for the COT.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out with a message about finding a prodigal son and bringing him/her back into your life.

    Announcements and Requests:

Welcome, Hokie. Come back, hopefully under better conditions. That’s 2 times YHC has spoken favorably of the Hokies today. Some kind of record.

    BRR, Field Day, and Retreat.

Let’s keep the Hokie, his family, and all of the people of New Orleans in mind. Let’s also keep Bacon Bits and his family in mind. Same goes for the wild fire victims, the flood victims in NY/|NJ, and the people inside Afghanistan as well as those creating new lives and helping the refugees. Lots of need out there.

Welcome back, Hardywood. Good to have you in the Orchestra today.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

    • COT with YHC taking us out

Solid work from the PAX today.  YHC slept on his head, so sported the faux hawk until sweat took over.  For those who did the Iron Pax earlier this week, t-claps.  Homer was only happy doing his burpees.  Pigskin is a warrior.  Chum Bucket excelled, and Gypsy just did his thing.  Great day to be with these men.  Prayers for Greenbow’s and Bacon Bits’ families and healing for the their fathers/fathers-in-law.  Stay safe and see everyone at the convergence on Monday at Hoedown (7 am).

God is good all of the time!

  • 13s

Nine WARRIORS came out in what couldn’t be a more perfect morning to join YHC in just his second Q, including an evacuee from NOLA that has posted over 270 times this year in the deep south. Shout out to Hokie! After a few vets admitted to taking the day off due to college football kickoff, YHC thought it best to step back up and give another run to lead the PAX. After a few months in the gloom and feeling better about the process, we put on a team based beatdown honoring our brothers and sisters that gave the ultimate sacrifice to allow us to do the things we do.

    The THANG :

COP – SSH, DQ, Arm Circles, Cherry Pickers, Standing stretch Right/Center/Left, LBC, Hello Dolly/Flutter Kicks, Sitting stretch R/L/C

Mosey to top of the hill. Plan was to involve every brother in leadership. No brothers left behind. Pause at every corner giving each brother the chance to call out their favorite exercise. Along the way, option to do one burpee, or three squats at every mailbox on the right. 50 exercises at every corner – Copperhead Squats, Merkins, Chainsaw (this was Hokies attempt at making light of what was to come for him back home), Carolina DD, Money Humpers, 4 count Mountain Climbers. Run the trail back to parking lot and grab a coupon.

13’s – In honor of the brave 13 brothers and sisters that lost their lives protecting our freedoms last week, we did a workout for them. Partner up. Runner halfway up the hill does 13 Merkins, 13 WW2s, 13 Box Cutters (soon audibled to FKs), while partner does curls first set, tri extensions second set, shoulder press third set. FINISH!

COT – Prayers of gratitude for F3 brotherhood and what it means to each of us. Prayers for Hokie and safe travels home, with a speedy recovery of his property. Prayers for all of NOLA and everyone in the NE that have been impacted by Ida. Prayers for every one of us to provide leadership and inspiration to those in need.

Thank you PAX for joining me for a much needed morning with my brothers in the gloom. I appreciate each and everyone of you.

    NMS:

Nice to see some new/old faces in the Gloom this morning. With Mr. Holland showing up YHC was willing to last minute give the Q over for a Sisyphus but the offer was turned down. The weather was perfect for an early morning beatdown, YHC remembers looking at the dashboard reading in the Hyundai as 70 and sunny but it is an old car with lots of miles so that reading may be +/- 20 degrees

  • Working on That Lunar Tan

A bunch of early morning runners and a biker or two embraced the gloom and excellent running weather. The stars were out, the moon crescent, and Upchuck had his shirt off and was working on his tan….basking in the moonlight.

Routes – West on Grove with 4s turning right on Libbie and 5s/6s taking the Henri access road to St Chris. Both routes exit on Patterson where you head east. 4s/5s take Antrim back to Grove and 6s take Nansemond.

    YHC took us out.

Good luck to those running the BRR next week! It will be an epic of a great time.
