  • Look! A Perfectly Good Track!

Four of the finest you will ever meet at 530am gathered in the eagles parking lot for today’s Currahee. Pinto dusted off the headlamp and vest for today but was told they wouldn’t be needed. 0530 abruptly hit and off we went.

    • Loop around the school and shimmy through the fence by the track
    • One lap around the track to continue to warm up as it was needed today
    • 200m repeats with 100m recovery
    • Repeat x10
    • Mosey down Old Prescott and another long loop around the school and we called it a day

Numbers, names, some light “stretching” before YHC took us out.

    Moleskin

Great morning guys. It’s been probably 3 years once I’ve done track work like that today and I’m sure I’ll feel it the rest of the day. Really enjoyed the fellowship while in the track. Let’s do it again sometime.

  • Pre BRR Meeting and Run

Most of the BRR team met last night to discuss last minute details and talk about the race. Pre-run at Hillcrest with a little bit of rain along the way. Refreshements were had, beers were drunk, and routes were dispersed. One week out from launch. Almost Christmas boys.

  • Has anyone seen TYA’s Brain

14 Posted on the first day of Fall.

Mosey to side of school at the tree line. At each tree, 10 merkins and 20 SSH. Alternate Bear crawl and crab walk. Mosey back to flag and do 10 Merkins OYO

NMM. Awesome to have Bleeder back at a bootcamp workout. It has been a while since he was out there. When I arrived at the AO, Swirly was talking to someone and I couldn’t figure out who it was. Ambled over to the car to see if I recognized it. Nothing. Finally Bleeder spoke and I instantly recognized his voice. I have always said, I would not recognize my mother if I saw her when I wasn’t expecting. This morning was that kind of experience for me. I have known bleeder for almost 30 years. i should probably recognize him by now!!!

I had a complete brain fart this morning. When we got back to the blacktop, I was still constructing the next set of exercises. I was about 80% of the way there to what we were going to do, and I couldn’t finalize the exercise. As a result, what we did was a little disjointed and not the most logical series of moves, but in the end it kinda worked.

Challenge to the PAX. In the Gloom, from ten feet away, tell the difference between Faceplant and Rip Cord.

  • First Time Leading the Circus

8-9 solid dudes enjoyed a fall like morning to get a coupon beatdown. I write 8-9 because Gypsy came out in the beginning, went on a run somewhere and then was back. Maybe there was an early morning 2 kegger. The workout went like this:

COP: DQ, DMH, FM, merkins, AC

Mosey to loop. Partner 1 – 5 burpees, partner 2 – carries both coupons, Partner 1 catches up to Partner 2 and switch. We did two loops. Mosey to another part of the bus loop.

Set of exercises written on the ground of the loop. 1. Bench press 2. Curls, 3. Flutters, 4. Coupon squats, 5. Sit up press, 6. Swings, 7. Triceps while laying on the ground (forgot the F3 name) and run around the loop get coupon and get to back of line.

We did these twice. In between we took a field trip and did 10 merkins and 10 heels to heaven w/ coupon when getting to an outdoor light. We were treated to a visitor playing a little Black Sheep. Who doesn’t get pumped up by some old school rap? At the last lights we did 20 merkins and 20 heels.

There was some mumble chatter at times and a couple of brown clouds but otherwise great morning with a little less sweat than we are used to for the summer. It was a challenge for me to lead when I forget the names of half the kettle bell exercises but you have to start somewhere.

Announcements: 9/18 – Field Day, 9/25 – Amelia sit and sip – Cornhole participants wanted, Iron PAX – da&n hard but there is a modify version so anyone can participate.

Prayers for those with and recovering COVID, in Afghanistan and recovering from health maladies. Good to see Gypsy back!

    Do great things men!

  • So, what does FORGE stand for?

And just like that, RVA’s sweaty mistress of humidity has departed, leaving a bedraggled summer PAX lapping up the sweet cool air of freedom. Here follows the tale of eight vets and one FNG, invigorated with the first taste of Autumn, digging deep to overcome the flesh:

    The THANG:

    • YHC took the PAX out in Prayer

NMS:  Absolutely beautiful morning to be out in the gloom with the finest band of brothers a guy could ask for. Also great to have FNG Chris Edwards “Ratchet” join us. He was at the recent men’s retreat (with myself, Doozy, Greenbow, & Elmer’s), and missed the F3 workouts while there, so he chose to come out today. Among many fine attributes and qualities, Chris is a systems manager at a Nursing Facility, hence the Nurse Ratchet reference. Great to have you with us brother! Also, forgot to share this AM, but Greenbow recently challenged me on whether the FORGE was an acronym for something since it’s all-caps. I admitted the original idea was more about the idea of Forging HIM’s in the fire of the 3 F’s, but then came up with the below. Fancy that! SYITG, YHC, DTH

    F – Free

O – Open to all men

    R – Rain or Shine

    G – Guys rotate the Q

    E – Ends with COT

  • They Named an AO after Oyster

18 F3 Grand Stranders and YHC started off the new month running against the wind on the beach in to our backs in the streets. Time flies when you’re having fun happy hump day.

    This how it went down

    COP

Mosey down 6th street do the oceanfront. Stop just before access to the bed for sets of merkins and LBC’s

Indian run in two different lines from 6th street to 11th street

Head back onto the road stopping at several street corners more sets of merkins, SSH’s, LBC’s. Between corners we would either bear crawl or crab walk up to the next block

One corner we stop for a ring of fire and YHC showed them how it was done with all clap merkins (or what they call clerkins)

Mosey back to the SF for some more SSH then they needed with a 30 sec rest to reflex on the day ahead

    MOLESKIN

Amazing showing F3 Grand Strand had this morning at their Surfside Beach AO The Oyster. Butch keep us moving the whole time. Great to meet some PAX from SC and see how they do things

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • The Buckeye

YHC came in hot with his clown car in tow. The PAX was primed and ready to go leaving the flag as soon as our headlights hit them. Caught up as PAX was performing COP. According to the trash man here is what went down.

Mosey long way around the school mixing in buttkickers, high knee, lunge, shuffle, etc. BTF for Mary and stretches.

Announcements: Field day, Retreat see preblast.

YHC took us out in prayer.

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors, Burpee

10 bridge runners descended upon the over grown grassy fields of Byrd Park this morning. YHC was happy to see some strong numbers this morning.

YHC kicked things off with F3’s official opening remarks and some light stretching.

Then it was off, mosey on over to the Nickel bridge. At the bridge, every light post 2 burpees, run to the end then turn around, and every light post on the way back 4 WW2s. Wait for the 6, then modified Native American run to the Carillon field. Modified in the sense that the last person does 2x merkins then sprints to the front.

Stopped along the way for a few merkins at the big yellow rocks.

Then more ROCKS. At the sunken field partnered up, one partner on one end of the field and the other on the opposite end of the field. Partners run to the middle of the field do rock paper scissors and loser does 5 burpees while winner holds plank. Repeato 10 times. There were some winners and some losers. YHC was a loser.

Mosey on back to the flag with a few merkins and dips along the way. At the flag circle up for an abs ring of fire. Each person in the circle does 5 WW2s while the rest holds 6 inches. The PAX made it partially around the circle when the clock struck 6:15.

Numbers, Names, and Announcements, then YHC took us out.
