  • Triple Potato

Nine of this region’s finest gathered under the waning crescent for an impromptu hot potato. Very little mumblechatter pre-launch, so we just stared at each other. EF Hutton had enough and said, “time to go”. Mosey to the newly sectioned off black top for a Hutton led COP.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Moleskin
Quiet bunch for Hoedown today. Maybe it was all the counting, or just recovery from the weekend. YHC detected 3 or 4 different language counts by Pigskin today. Regardless, great to get out with the gang and to push each other this AM. Sorry to hear Upchuck is battling his knee. Get well soon brother!

  • DirtyMacDeuce’s Death Star landed on Everest

3 SOJ HIM’s posted at Rock N Roll to sharpen one another. The senior citizens walking the park said this is how it went down (The senior citizens are some shady characters according to Wilson) :

    Warmarama on Basketball Court :

    20 SSH IC

    10 Don Q’s IC

    10 Russian Soldiers IC

    10 Imperial Walkers IC

    10 Cherry Pickers IC

    THE THANG :

Modified Death Star on Basketball Court (use each corner and the basketball hoop at the top as the 5 points of the star) : Bear Crawl to each point of the star and do 30 merkins (make sure you bear crawl back to center court before proceeding to the next point). Total 150 merkins completed. This is the modified version. The real version has 10 cones lined up in the shape of the star and yields 300 merkins total.

DirtyMacDeuce : 4 sets of 3 exercises done with 12 reps In Cadence. The exercises are Merkins, Freddie Mercuries and Imperial Squat Walkers. After each set of three exercises, run a lap around parking lot.

Mosey to stairs between baseball fields

Everest : On the stairs, lunge up the steps and do a squat at the end of each lunge. Alternate legs. Repeato to the top of the stairs. (We did 10 sets of this)

Mosey lap around entire paved loop of park and sprint up the stairs on the way back to Ole Glory.

    DONE

    Numberama

    Namerama

    COT :

Prayer Request for YHC’s M and YHC operating on little sleep with the newest 2.0. It’s been an erratic sleep schedule and diaper rash has exacerbated that.

NMMS : Thankful to have Oyster and Doozy post this morning. All were fairly silent with little mumble chatter due to the Death Star beatdown.

  • Doozy and Posey took a little trip and found Big Data

It was an epic trip to F3 Indianapolis where YHC and Posey found nothing but true F3 hospitality from the downrange AO’s that we were able to get to. YHC made it to 3 local AO’s and Posey made it to 2. Our tour guides where Kindergarten Cop on Tuesday, Wrigley on Wednesday and Motor Boat on Thursday. We saw this car near Pittsburgh but where unable to find out the true identity of the driver as he went right when we went left.

  • Calamari

4 regulars posted for a slightly wet Sunday morning. Saab opted for the roads, the rest of the crew hit the access road and did and out and back to Belle Isle. A couple of hours at Elwood post workout.

No swim today. 300,000 gallons of raw sewage seemed to impact the desirability or a dip in the river. Question is how long will it take for the river to be safe again. Only time will tell.

    Eat lots of Calamari.

  • Wilson is a Master…

A handful of RVA’s finest gloom warriors posted this AM to Dogpile for a fleshly beatdown. According to Wilson, the master of fleshly beatdowns, here’s what ensued:

    The THANG:

COP #1 at the Circle in usual DTH Warmerama style in cadence

COP #2 as fine pearls on a bee line, the PAX stopped at least 4-5x for variable IC and OYO exercises en route to the far field/playground area

COP #3 was 11’s with extra sauce. The PAX did Burpees 11–>1 on one side and Swing Pumps 1–>11 on the playground side, and moved in a diamond pattern to complete some other reps between sides – x5 Jump Squats on the road side, and x10 dips on the other side. All in all: x66 Burpees, x66 Swing Pumps, x50 Squat Jumps, & x100 Dips.

COP #4 was an beautiful string of priceless COP pearls on our way back to the Carillon Field

COP #5 was a Quarter Pounder Finale, x25 WWII, x50 Merkins, x75 Single-Ct Mtn Climbers, and x100 SSH …KUDOS goes to SIPPY CUP as the only one who finished before YHC called BTTF

    Mosey BTTF for COT:

    • Counterama # 15
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Comments)
    • YHC took the PAX out in Prayer

    NMS:

    • We came, we conquered our otherwise lazy flesh, we left no man behind. At ET’s afterwards Wilson proclaimed himself a Debater, to which YHC agreed he was a Master Debater. They my have heard it before, but laughed all the same. Thanks for filling my cup brothers. SYITG, YHC, Tryhard
  • I guess it counts ?‍♂️

When 5 pax show up for a pre-run of an AO, I guess it counts as post.
This morning and hour before GridIron, 5 HIMs showed up to answer the call for a 10 mile prerun.
Don Draper created a 2021 Marathon Slack Channel and for some silly reason added YHC to the channel.. I’m not running a Marathon that’s just crazy!!! I tried it once and broke both feet 4 days before the race… the great Sky Q told me right then and there that YHC is not supposed to run that far and he SMACKED me back down to reality. but i’m happy to have some buddies to run 10 to 14 miles with.

Today BoBerry, Rosetta, Homer, BlueMoon and I set out at 6am to get a few miles at an 8:30 pace… welp… we accomplished setting out on time… but once BlueMoon got warmed up, I warned the pax keeping up with him meant a sub 8min pace… Homer took me up on it and headed out with him where the last 5 miles were sub 7:44. At some point we lost them as they went out on their own route.. (i found them later at the boot camp). Roseatta, BoBerry and YHC stayed to the plan and knocked out 10 miles at an 8:22 pace.

BoBerry PRed his 10 miler!!! looking strong brother.

Next weekend we are going 11 to 12 miles.. hit us up ion Slack if you want to know the launch location.

Thats all for now… i need to go eat something… running makes me hungry..

  • Its the Bro-Code

WAKE UP!! PEOPLE ARE RUNNING HERE!!

Last Friday of the month at Currahee always means one thing… Bro-Code.

That means anybody but Gomer Pyle is allowed to take the Q. cuz we all know that Gitty Up on a 4 mile run means you are getting lost in some back neighborhood as we turn 4 miles into 5.5 or 6. trying to figure out if he went left or right at that dead end road. Ha!!! jokes on you.. he also knows all the off road paths to connect roads and he went straight. 🙂 Just Kidding with you GP.. although you do know all the hidden paths around the Short Pump area for some reason???

Bro-Code has become a regular 4 mile route that all pax can run and get anywhere between 4 and 6+ miles in 45 mins. It is basically a big square so at the turns you circle back to the 6 then continue on to the next turn. (you can do a 11:15 min mile pace to a 7:30 pace or more and all still be roughly together) once we hit the 4th corner we all return to the AO together at a Bro-Code pace.

    The route.
    Right out of Godwin HS.
    Left onto Ridgefield
    Right onto Copperas
    Right onto Church
    Right onto Pump
one last turn back at the corner of Pump and Ridgefield for the 6.

Great work by all … mileage ranged from 4.1 to 5.3 miles .. not bad for 145 on the wet bulb scale.

Free to Lead men. Be a disrupter of the status quo..

  • Is a Club of One a Club?

One mighty dude did the thing before the thing. Route was roughly a marathon give or take a quarter mile. Mumblechatter was minimal.

  • Reclaiming the Gridiron

Today had the markings of a higher mileage, high rep beat-down.  No humidity, plenty of clouds and an extra 1 ½ hours of sleep.  The Gridiron awaited 12 noble and mostly healthy warriors.  Here is how it went down:

    • Mosey to the lower football field for COP
      • SSH
      • IW
      • Dead man hang
      • Helicopters
      • Arm circles – forward & backwards
      • Suzanne Somers
      • Merkins
      • LBC
    • Mosey to the main baseball field in the back of the school for an arch loader
      • Load the arch from LF line to 2B with:
        • Bear crawl
        • Crab walk
        • Bunny hop
        • Duck walk
        • Cheetah sprint
      • Mosey to the outfield wall for 10 burpees (50 total)
      • Run back to LF line
    • Mosey to the tennis courts for four corners with 10, 15, 20 & 25 reps (70 total) of:
      • HRM
      • WWII sit-ups
      • Monkey humpers
      • Crab cakes (2x)
      • Reverse crunches
    • Mosey back to the parking lot for a 3x check
      • Run parking lot
      • Chicken peckers
      • LBC
    • COT with YHC taking us out

A little over 2 ½ miles with plenty of ground and pound reps.  For those looking in the normal spots for us (e.g. Gypsy and maybe Probation?), we ventured a different path today, so more running for you.  We were not on the turf fields!  YHC had to take advantage of the cool weather and well-conditioned PAX in an effort to see some different parts of the AO.  The PAX learned that there is a crap load of cricket being played at the Gridiron on Saturday.  Our AO is infiltrated with pickle ball and cricket.  Time to reclaim the Gridiron’s masculinity and put some chest hair on it.

Great work by the PAX.  Great start to the weekend.  Prayers up for our injured PAX members.  As always, iron sharpens iron, but it is great to laugh while we do it.  Great work men!

God is good all of the time!
