    1st F: Fitness

Currahee brought out 10 pax this morning to enjoy a beautiful 70 and sunny workout. A simple plan but made sure everyone that wanted to push themselves was given the opportunity and yet we all still stayed together.
Warm up was 1.5 miles: Right out of Godwin, Left onto John Rolfe, Left onto Glen Eagle cross over Ridge Field and assemble at the cul-de-sac of Old Prescott.
The THANG: 5K race pace (or all you got) from the end of Old Prescott to Pump rd. (.42 miles)
Recover back for the 6 then all recover back to the cul-de-sac.
    Rinse and repeat until 6:10.

Most of us landed somewhere between 4.5 and 5.2 miles today. Lots of hard work put in and lots of pounds lost in sweat. (unless you are Bluemoon who just seems to make it all look easy)

    NMS:
The PAX did well today. Many of which are preparing for a Marathon or 1/2 Marathon in the coming months.
Stay hydrated during this heat guys. YHC posted an article in SLACK about the impacts of the weather on your training.

The Summer tour continues: many are unofficially hitting other AOs as others are signed up on the Monthly challenge. YHC will have the patches for those pax that signed up.

Gomer Pyle: I hope you start felling better brother. RICE

Looking forward to hitting the streets of SOJ on Sunday with the OTB crew. Sounded like Roger Roger might be interested in joining in as well.

I appreciate you guys running with me this morning and i cant wait to SYITG!!

AS always: Call a PAX you have not seen in a while. it might be just what he needed to make through the day.

  • Double Horseshoe

YHC had a tough time getting out of the fartsack this am but was glad he made it to the hill as the PAX picked him up. Satan’s hill is getting busy it is good to see the numbers up and good to see travelers from far away lands posting. Tryhard stayed in a local hotel on his journey. According to the frogs here is what went down.

Mosey to bottom of hill and back to the lot for COP

20 SSH’s and 10 each: IW, cherry pickers, DQ’s, Helicopters, Russian soldiers, Hillbillies, merkins, LBC’s.

The Thang: Double Horseshoe on the trail. A progressive building adding on exercises by 5 up to 30 then back down to 5. 5 Drydocks, 10 WWII’s, 15 Lunges, 20 Merkins, 25 LBC’s, 30 squats. Took most of the time on that then grab a coupon. Hold rock above head while 10 count ring of fire curls, rock above head for 10 count tricep extensions, the on back hold rock in press while 20 ct bench press. Time was called and BTTF.

Announcements: Squirrels game end of July see Bone Thug.

Prayers to Duke’s buddies family grieving from a loss. Prayers to my sister recovering from. Shattered heel. YHC took us out in prayer.

  • Everybody loves escalators

Two twin team regulars and a semi-regular Summer tour Q set off to fine a section of the AO with humidity less than 90. Along the way we did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Russian Soldiers, Merkins, LBCs. Mosey down to the stadium. Triple check on the bleachers of: Runs steps and down, Dips, & Freddy Mercurys. Head over to visitor benches for 4 rounds of: 30 BenchKicks and 15 Derkins.

Down to the field for few rounds across: Bear Crawl & Lunge, Crab walk & backwards run. Imperial Walk(er)ing. Then head up to BWES field for: Pull Up and Jump Squats, 4 rounds. Another Triple check of B2TW and Donkey Kicks on the BW blacktop then over to front of school. Some Mary then back to flag for one last thing: Burpee Escalator. Start with 8 Burpees in 1 minute, then 9 in next minute, 10 in 3rd, 11 in 4th, and 12 in 5th minute. Totals of 50 burpees in 5 minutes.

NMS: Small but solid PAX this morning who flew through all the Q could think up. YHC always enjoys the Q there since there is so much ground to cover. Been a while since we’ve done that Burpee Escalator and doing it at the end of a beatdown in July is a solid push. Way to push this morning Last Call and Doozy!

Announcements: Hitch welcome Sausage Party tomorrow (see Slack) and Squirrels baseball F3 night on 7/31.

  • Relative Humidity

Mosey back to the flag. Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

NMS: I read a book last week called Living Forward. The authors suggested that most men drift through life and at some point wonder how they got to where they are. They commended living with the desired end in mind, and suggested the excercise of writing your own eulogy, what you would want said about you at your own funeral. This was a sobering and perspective bringing exercise. I realized how much time and mental energy I give to things I don’t really care all that much about, and how much I want to live my daily life for things that really matter. To quote the poet Annie Dillard, “How you spend your days is, of course, how you spend your life.” Live forward!

  • Basketball Jones

11 nba all stars posted for what was to be a basketball Q. According to the trash truck driver here is what went down.
quick warm of the usual exercises with 2 suicide runs added in.
a few drills with exercise punishment for missed shots.
5on5 full court. This was the globetrotters vs the generals as YHC’s team won 7-3. Likely not due to YHC.
another full court run and shoot drill.
knockout with POG claiming the first round and Duke claiming the second. BTF as time was up.
COT- prayers to Duke’s friends family grieving a loss and to my sister recovering from surgery for a shattered heel. YHC took us out in prayer.

  • Wild in the Streets

8 grizzled gloom veterans and 2 young whipper snappers linked up at Huguenot High for another round of the Forge. With YHC’s incredible playlist in the background, the atmosphere was set for an epic affair. Here is a summary for your viewing pleasure:

Mosey to the Elementary School. At each light do ascending WWII sit ups. Started with one and worked our way up to 10 or so.

Warm-up with questionable cadence that consisted of:
Don Quixote’s, Arm Circles, Helicopters, Incline Merkins, Freddie Mercuries, Dead Man Hang, Cherry Pickers.

Mosey to the lower parking lot for Exercise One:

The Mystery Box: One man pulls a card out of the Mystery Box and calls that exercise. He runs to the top of the hill with the medicine ball while the PAX performs said exercise. Rotate down the line.

    Exercises completed were as follows:

    Burpees
    Copperhead Squats
    Incline Merkins
    Carolina Dry Docks
    Lt. Dan’s
    Monkey Humpers
    Crawl Bear across parking lot
    Hand release Merkins
    Hello Dolly’s
    American Hammers
    Sprints w/10 Second rest between
    Lunges
    Jump Squats

    Mountain Climbers

Exercise Two: Everyone holds plank position. While listening to Wild in the Streets by The Circle Jerks – do a Merkin every time you hear the word “wild.”
Total of 34 Merkins and 2 minutes 34 seconds of planking.

Back to the flag for numbers/names/announcements.

    YHC lead us out.

Final Thoughts: Great effort by all today! Was particularly impressed by the 2.0’s, who ignored my suggestion of not using the medicine ball on the run.

The Mystery Box is retired to the closet, but will surely make future appearances.

Predictably, YHC’s playlist received mixed reviews; although dare I say leaning positive?? Next time I will just play the Back in Black album in its entirety so everyone is happy.

Short Mosey around parking lot and stopped in front of school for COP

    COP

    THANG

With 3 present for this workout we rotate naming an exercise to perform while on person walks from one island to the other Island and back doing around the world with the KB (clockwise and counter clockwise) as the timer. We all take turns being the timer while the other non walking is performing the exercise that was named. We go to a new exercise after all brothers had a turn walking from island to island.

Here were the exercises : Sit up press, lunges in the grass(this was Rounder’s style where we touched the knee to the grass in the lunge, then returned to standing position alternating legs), Halos (counter clockwise and clockwise), bench squats (we hold the KB and squat to the bench seat then return to standing), Boat – Canoe and we were getting close to time so we stretched for the last 2 minutes.

Numberama, Namerama, Yardsale took us out in prayer.

  • Shirts or Skins?

EIGHT studs threw off the lure of the Nap Sack for the dripping sweaty goodness that was the latest edition of the Roller Coaster. Conditions were 70 and sunny. According to the old guys mowing lawns, the following quite possibly could have happened:

Reverse extra large, then reverse medium. Total distance 5.8 miles. 7,000,000 vertical feet. Some guys did a smidge less. All were soaked and earned it today.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out with a message about the value of this Brotherhood.

    NMS:

The thermometer clocked at 96 when YHC left home. Unclear what the true temps were among the trees, but regardless, it was hot. Humid too. Great to catch up with Shiplap who may have a pair of new shows to trade out. DM him if you have interest in a pair of New Balance 680, 860, or 880s (unclear which). Swiper was fresh back from Colorado, still getting his legs under him, but pushing hard.

Great to see Bone Thugs and Big Tennessee out there. All the BTs in one place.

Anthrax is threatening to appear at a BeatDown.

    Announcements:

    Lots going on…highlights:

Hitch hosting on Saturday at 6. 303 or 330 Marston over in Windsor Farms. Dudes only.

Squirrels Baseball July 31. Get in touch with Bone Thugs ASAP. 6-ish game. Family event.
